This place was nice. The staff was very friendly. I am not usually a fan of kombucha, but they were very nice in guiding me along the way. That being said this kombucha is nothing like what I get back home when I get back home is trash compared to this. I am assuming this is what it's actually supposed to taste like which is good. Flavors were there nothing was too overpowering. Definitely something I could enjoy on a regular basis and with the nice weather that you have in this area, I can see where this is a huge hit. read more

Delving into kombucha again is always a pleasant change of pace for our drinking experiences. Nova proved to generate this and was no exception to our previous experiences at all. Steve and I got two different flavors of kombucha from Nova and we really enjoyed them. The first one we got was the Guava Mint. This was very refreshing especially with the mint at play here. The Guava aspect was good as well. It's a fruit we aren't typically used to having but the two main flavors combined were excellent. The other flavor we had was the Watermelon Lime. This one wasn't too sweet as when involving Watermelon can be so that was a pleasant change of pace and the sourness at play made a pleasant balance that came from the lime. No one aspect of flavor is too dominant in either of the flavors we had but instead was well rounded and balanced and gave the kombucha a fun and intriguing complexity. read more

Always on the lookout for a kombucha place and this one is lacking, in both the flavors and the ambiance. They only had one NA option on their draft list since I prefer to not get cans at a place that makes their own. The ambiance is quiet and felt stuffy despite the open area and a small number of patrons. The music is controlled by whoever is working and when we got there was blasting and then out for quite some time. Staff was fine, but nothing special and they did not seem like they wanted to be there at all. I liked the indoor/open air vibe and it is a good location if you can find parking. Emilio was super rude and did NOT explain at all that it couldn't be opened inside while we were literally waiting to go. He didn't even refund for not explaining. I love hard kombucha! But as far as brewery-type places, Nova was pretty unimpressive. Drinks are alright, and ambiance is lacking. But that's coming from me, as someone who lives close to Miramar and all the larger vibier breweries. If in the area, maybe I'd stop by again... but definitely not a go-to spot. Fortunately, they sell cans of Nova kombucha at the grocery store, so that's the easier preferable option for me. read more

I absolutely love this kombucha place! I have been many times when visiting ocean beach. It's a must try while in the area you won't be disappointed. My favorite is the hot cactus! You can either order a single glass or a flight. The flight is a great option to try a variety of flavors. Today I tried the dragon fruit (new flavor from the last time I was in) and it's very good! We bought a pack to go of this flavor because we liked it so much. There is indoor and outdoor seating. It's fun to sit outside, enjoy the sun and people watch while enjoying the kombucha. They recently opened a game room in the back with pool, fuseball, and a variety of board games to choose from. The vibes inside and out are great. As an East Coaster, I was amazed by this place, especially since I'm not a big beer drinker. What a fun concept! I would have imagined a kombucha-focused bar would be a bit niche, but this place must be pretty popular, since the space is huge. The main bar area is very open and colorful and the back has lots of games. Even the outdoor area is solid, with plenty of tables. The bartenders were awesome and let us try a few samples of the kombucha. They had a bunch of funky flavors, which I really appreciated, and I liked all the ones that I tried. The kombucha itself didn't taste too boozy and was almost a less sweet version of a regular kombucha. Good vibes here. Very open setup. Close to the beach and on the Main Street of OB. We always stop in when we're in the area. It's never super busy. This past time we went there was an art class going on which was a little distracting - they should do those in the back room vs in the main front tap room. The kombucha is pretty good. Stopped by for a drink at Nova Easy Kombucha down the street after my friends and I were done visiting Ocean Beach Farmers Market. The Hard Kombucha here is delicious. I love kombucha so Hard Kombucha will always hit the spot. Got Peachy Lychee and Watermelon Mint. Both were delicious, I always love anything Watermelon flavored. You can order by the Pint or Half Pint. The drinks didn't blow my mind but this was my first time seeing a watermelon hard kombucha which I appreciated. I also appreciate that this is almost an exclusive kombucha taproom. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but would definitely stop by if I'm in the area. Parking can be tough, you have to just find street parking. The area where I parked was free next to the homes but some areas may be paid metered street parking. Service is friendly. Eye catching place from the street - walked by here a couple times before deciding to drop in. It was during a time when there was a sports game on and SD was playing so it was a pretty big deal. Kombucha tap rooms are a rare find, so I was happy to find one just a stone's throw away from the beach. The bartender was very accomadating and checked in on me. I'm not a big fan of alcohol and they had three non alcoholic flavors available: guava mint (on tap), mango pineapple, and watermelon lime. I tried them all. MY NON ALCOHOLIC KOMBUCHA ORDER X1 GUAVA MINT X1 MANGO PINEAPPLE X1 WATERMELON LIME Guava Mint ($5.75): This flavor was my favorite flavor and, probably because it was on tap, was the most bubbly. The mint flavor wasn't overpowering, and the guava flavor came through nicely. The tea was also just strong enough. This was on tap and served in a glass without ice. Mango Pineapple ($5.75): My second favorite flavor was the mango pineapple. The mango and the pineapple were delicious and had a very tropical palate. I wish the tea flavor was a little stronger. Although they obly offered this flavor from the can, the bartender was nice enough to offer me a glass of ice to drink out of. While it was great drinking it chilled, I think the concentrate flavorings in the kombucha were separated by the melted ice water so that my initial sips were a little on the blander side. However, when I reached the bottom half of the drink, it was much more flavorful. Watermelon Lime ($5.75): This was offered from a can as well and served with a cup of ice. I could not really taste the dosrinctive flavor of watermelon. While not unpalatable, I prefer something a little stronger. ENVIRONMENT: chic beach vibes with great latin dance music playing in the front. They also have outdoor seating atop artificial turf. There's also foozeball and a pool table in the backroom. TIPS: - ordering cans to-go are cheaper than drinking them in-house ($3.75 instead of $5.75) - one can of Kombucha gives you one and a half cups worth of Kombucha - they only serve Kombucha, so I bought some takeout from a nearby restaurant to pair with my drinks read more

After lunch, my partner and I walked around the neighborhood to browse through the businesses. During our stroll, we popped into a few breweries to see if they served hard cider. My beau requested we check out Nova. As we approached the establishment it was not crowded. Guests were sitting inside the venue and outside on their patio. The menu is listed from tart at the top to sweetest at the bottom. You can sample the kombucha flavors before making a purchase. After a few samples my partner and I purchased a flight. What I appreciate about these kombuchas is they are not that acidic. It does not have that harsh vinegar taste. Since they are hard kombuchas I had a nice buzz. This is such an interesting place. Ambiance is okay inside or outside. Kombucha is either meh or pretty good depending which flavor you select. But the most baffling part to me is their service. Every single time I've visited here I've been met with some of the most passive aggressive, judgemental boochtenders. It almost seems like a criteria for hiring at this point with how often it is. Their prices are a little high and their happy hour (only, finally, recently instituted) at a really inconvenient time.
