The most unbelievable rip off I have ever experienced in my life...not to mention it wasn't even good. I ordered three avocado only rolls and asked for extra avocado. I was charged $30 and what I got as laughable (see pics). Three very tiny rolls with barely any avocado and they look like they were made by a kindergartener. Not to mention there were pieces of fish stuck to the rolls (see pics) which is very unappetizing when you are a vegetarian and ordered vegetarian rolls. I complained to the waiter who took my order when I saw the finished product but he was very rude, condescending, and dismissive. Had I not felt under the weather, I probably would have tried to put up more of a fight but I didn't have the energy to further engage with the useless staff. They also threw in an 8% tip which I did not specify or agree to. Considering how badly I was treated I certainly would not have left any tip at all intentionally. This place used to be a bit better and has really gone down hill. I will never ever let myself get ripped off like this again. read more

Nothing special. The tuna that they charge $20 for is pretty low grade artificially colored. $100 worth not enough for 2 adults and a 5 year old. All around bad experience. Hibachi meals would not be served to the table, we had to ask for napkins and glasses a few times. My friend had to go to the bar to ask for these things because our server was no where to be found. They refused to split the check. The food was- honest to God- barely okay. It wasn't awful but wow it was not good. The prices are so extremely high for such subpar food. I ordered salmon roll and the tiniest 6 pieces came out on my plate for $11. Nothing filled me up, I'm leaving here hungry. The most frustrating part was the prices for not good food. 3 stars because I like Nozawa just wanted to share this awful experience. I love Nozawa and eat here all the time. We never have any issues and are there at least every other week. I thought it would be a good idea to celebrate my birthday here by booking a hibachi table. I was wrong. It appeared our server may have spent more time smoking weed than serving us. He forgot to ring in our appetizers that were ordered at 8:40 and after trying to flag him down for over 40 minutes to inquire about them... he claimed he totally forgot and the kitchen is closed. No crab rangoons on my bday. At this point we still haven't started our hibachi dinner either. Our entire table of 12 was ordering most of their drinks from the bar because our server was full on ignoring us. When it came time for dinner, many of our orders appeared to come out wrong. My boyfriends shrimp was missed after we reconfirmed it multiple times. Another friend ordered the steak and scallop dish but was given shrimp and scallop. And then all the different steaks were grouped together. Many people ordering New York strip or ribeyes but all of our meat was cooked together... to the same temperature.... when I asked why you charged a different price when all of the steaks were grouped together and there was no differentiation between plates I was told that our chef doesn't speak any English so that is why. No adjustments were made to our bill regarding ANY of these errors. I believe his name was Matthew, ruined my birthday dinner for me. He left us a jug of water so he didn't have to check on us. I wouldn't mind it but they include 20% tip on the bill. Basically left around $27 just to bring out the sushi and the bill. I would not recommend. if you have a reservation, there's literally no point of going. We have always loved Nozawa, it's the first place our son asks for when we ask what he wants for lunch. The food was as good a usual. But lunch took over an hour for 2 bento boxes, a soup and 2 nigiri and a hand roll. Bro-bra waiter walking around with his mask under his chin and leaning on shoulder of guests closer than would have been comfortable before spending a year distancing loudly complaining to the room about masks and how in week they wouldn't have to anymore (not sure where he got that information). Whether you agree with regulation or not I am not comfortable with any restaurant that doesn't want to follow health codes. If you don't want to deal with masks or stuff who wet them then Nozawa is great for you, if you're looking for a business taking things seriously- maybe keep looking. read more

You can never go wrong with sushi and hibachi! We had the orange blossom and purple sake, both were sooooo good and I'm not a huge hot sake fan! Our server picked out the sake for us he has great taste. We also ordered some beers for sake bombs, 10/10 recommend doing so make sure it's with Sapporo! I had a seaweed salad appetizer, it was a large portion and it came on top of an arugula salad. We also shared a mountain sushi roll which was delicious, I wish we came back here for sushi not that we didn't enjoy the hibachi! Our hibachi chef was one of the best I've ever had; he was very interactive, funny, and accommodating to my dietary restrictions. Prices were inexpensive and you get a lot of food, none of us were able to finish our entire meal. If you're seeking flavor, look elsewhere. We ordered the crab cheese wontons and to our horror they arrived with a maraschino cherry (?). Then, things went from bad to worse when we ordered the fried rice with tofu. I am not exaggerating when I say it was the least flavorful dish I've ever eaten. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, I am always hesitant to complain but I had to make an exception. While our server, Juan, was extremely accommodating, the manager was defensive and just plain rude. When we expressed our concerns, he said, "well we've had the same chef for 10 years" to which we replied "we've never eaten here before," as if we had to justify not enjoying our meal. Both dishes were eventually taken off of our check but not after a couple more uncomfortable interactions with the manager. If you make a reservation be sure to call twice to make sure they actually wrote it down. Staff lost our reservation for a birthday dinner then told us we must have mistakenly made a reservation for the Dillon restaurant (we didn't). We told this story to a friend who said the same thing happened to them in May so not documenting reservations is a pattern. read more

When we asked to speak with the manager he was very rude, he told us he spoke with the owner and he would not make any accommodations...$170 later, the food was appalling, staff was incredibly rude, very unprofessional. Agree with joe j...very dishonest. Same experience with Ivan. We sat at sushi bar and tipped Ivan 15% and we tipped the sushi chef 5%. We noticed Ivan added $5 to the tip once the charge cleared our bank. Called and talked to manager who would not acknowledge anything wrong was done and offered several bogus excuses. He then I hung up on me and when I called back he offered to mail me $5 but I declined since it seems Ivan needs $5 so badly and since this an approved restaurant policy they can keep the $5. We have been patrons of this restaurant for years but after this experience we will never return due to this fraudulent overcharge. I work locally and interact with the local community regularly so I will pass along this experience to any and all who will listen. Avoid this restaurant and if you dare go, do avoid Ivan. read more

Stopped in on our way up to Glenwood Springs and the server (Roberto) was overbearing. Asked if we could move the chopsticks so he could grab the wrapper. When I asked if I could have plain fried rice with my entree he flat out said NO and that I can only have steamed white rice. AND he was taking plates off the table before we were even done eating. On top of all that, the menu states 18% gratuity added for groups of 6 or more and somehow we got charged 20% for a group of 5. When brought up to Roberto he stated they always automatically add gratuity and there was nothing he could do to remove the charge. Not sure where to start party of 5 order up a large purple haze I'm 59 years old with my 15 girl and my buddy with his 2 college graduated girls one of which did not have her id so long story short they would only give us enough for the 3 adults to share the sake. Bad luck to pour your own so my daughter pored us 2 shots this caused a shit storm they took away our sake saying she was drinking. They refused to let me buy any other drinks. I let it go and after the meal in front of a table full of stangers at the manager proceeded to lecture my daughter about drinking WTF. She never had a drop of sake then they auto graded our group for 20%and charged us for the sake they took away. The food was below average with razor thin sliced sushi and dry fried rice! As a local being treated like this really makes me love coming to Avon to spend my hard earned money. They claim the have us on film under aged drinking this is crazy she was not drinking.
