Ordered takeout on postmates! The sushi is not quite as good as I remember it being at the Convoy location. I really appreciated the effort put into the presentation, and the variety (they seared some of the fish on the rainbow roll, and included fish eggs). That said, the roll was a bit dry. I prefer creamier krab and this was fairly chewy. My husband says all components of his tonkatsu ramen were better than average but not the best. 4 stars was the immediate consensus for us. We'd happily eat here again but not our #1 spot. Just wanted to emphasize the presentation one more time. In my takeout box the roll was immaculately arranged with wonton noodles, lemon slices, and a flower. They also sent orange slices for dessert which I loved. That extra effort made the difference for me in terms of whether I'd order again. read more

First off, the service here was great, don't get me wrong. The waiter did come by to ask how the service was (while apologizing humbly about how long the food took to come out) so we gave extra for tip. We had to wait a bit since we came early in the morning, so we watched the chairs, desks, and floors get sanitized thoroughly before opening. That's how you know the business cares for its customers. The food prices were quite reflective of the sizes. My mother couldn't finish her oyakodon because of how much meat they gave her. I felt on the other hand that the black garlic oil ramen I got had more beansprouts than noodles. I'm still grateful they were generous with toppings though. People keep telling me about this giant chirashi bowl at Nozomi. I finally tried it for lunch. It's a variety of different fish, octopus, and roe on top of spring mix dressed with sesame oil on top of sushi rice. Altogether the flavor works really well! It is steep at $19 for the smaller 3/4 size. That was too much for me at lunch but wouldn't be enough for a second person. Fish was fresh and patio was packed at noon. Looks like they have some good sushi deals with miso soup too. If you work close by or live around there, walk. Parking costs money and is impossible at this time. read more

I did not even know this place existed until Grace B brought me here. The only one I know if is in the one in Clariemont Mesa and I remember that one having HUGE portions. Well, its the same here! Ridiculously big portions. I mean if you want a family meal, this is the place to go. I guess they did some reno's and created a beautiful covered patio area with a huge glass wall to project sporting games or a really bad-ass night of horrible Karaoke. In any case, its nicely laid out, chill and a great place to kick it after a long day of work. We went right after the lunch rush so it was nice and quite. Grace ordered the churashi bowl...only a 3/4 and OMG...together we both couldn't finish it. It came out in this huge mixing bowl and the beautiful colors and arrangements of fish laid on top of the cut greens and bed of warm rice. The bright colors of red, green and orange masago sat right on top and it was quite a helpful portion of it too. The dressing for the salad had a sweet taste in the beginning and slowly heated up in the back of your mouth. it reminded me of a sweet and spicy bbq sauce. However because of my sensitivity to heat I asked for a side of spicy mayo...like that helped! ahhaha. After a good mixing of the bowl, every bite you got a taste of fish, rice and salad. It felt like a deconstructed sushi roll without nori or a very big bowl of poke without the "poke" sauce. We ordered from here for a large catering in our office for about 30 people. I called the day before to place the order and it was a very easy process. Our sushi was packaged beautifully on large trays when we arrived to pick it up the next day. One of the women working there even helped carry the food to our car which was sweet. The food is always very fresh and tasty. This is our favorite sushi spot to order from and we appreciate the quick and professional service. read more

If I could give Nazomi La Jolla 100 stars I would. I took approximately 40 people for a Celebration of Life Dinner for my Late Dad. The staff was awesome and very helpful. We didn't have a set menu, we allowed all our guests to order what they wanted. Despite the various orders, Nazomi was able to feed everyone in just under 2 hours. Servers were very rude when we asked how much longer it would take for the appetizers to be ready after we were done with the main dish. Not a single apology all night after excessive waiting. Did not try the food. I went in because of a sign for a ramen special. I love ramen. Unfortunately the waiter said that the special ended. I thought did I just missed it no apparently the sign was never taken down and they put it out every day even though the special ended three weeks prior. I asked to talk to a manager the waiter couldn't direct me to anybody in charge of the restaurant that made any kind of decisions. I took my business elsewhere. The funny thing is I used to go to the one on convoy and the owner was great. Came here for my last meal in San Diego before going home. They had a lot of different rolls, but I wanted some nigiri as well, so I got the cheapest sushi boat haha. It was $23 before tax, but it had 6 pieces of nigiri and 2 (5 piece) rolls. The nigiri was awesome! Fish was tender and fresh. The fish looked pretty lean, but still tasted great! The rolls were also good. They did a great job with the presentation of the dishes. My friend ordered a dragon roll and they made it look like it was a dragon with wings. The service was also good. They only had one or two people waiting all the tables, but they did a good job handling it. I felt the sushi boat was worth it. I got to try more than just a roll and only paid about $10 more than my friends who got rolls. Check this place out if you want some good sushi! read more
