I went with a friend to this place because it was highly recommended for the uv gel that she gets. I have been getting powder for years mind you and I've never had an issue. This women did my nails and not even 2 days later all of them had a top coat or the glue film coming off of it and one was cracked down the middle. I went back a week later due to distance after calling and complaining and she did my nails again for free, This time she even put a gel coat over the powder because she was unable to do the powder regularly for some reason. . This time not even a day later all of my nails were cracked, falling off and yet again had the tops coat coming off in bubbles. I called this nail salon and said that I was unhappy with the work and feel that the money and tip that was paid for this is unfair to me and I wanted it back. The women stated that she did it for free and would not give me a refund. She was not understanding that it was redone due to poor work and a waste of my money and what is the point of getting it redone if it's exactly the same. This women basically robbed me of my money. Do not come here if you're getting powder because they have no idea what they're doing. read more

I was rushing for an event and in bad need of a manicure and almost missed out on this gem of a spot. Everyone was so accommodating and welcoming. I'm very picky where I get my manicure done and I must say the job was done to perfection. I normally just do clear but the nails looked so good I took her recommendation and tried gel. Wow! They are very friendly, they do a nice job, and they always try to fit you in last minute. A great local nail place.

The entire experience was not pleasurable. From the moment I walked in I felt their push for me to get the green tea pedicure, which was fine, but I specifically started I needed to leave at a certain time. This pedicure took 45 minutes and they didn't start my nails until one hour into the entire thing. I requested several times to do the work at the same time so I could leave with my daughter. When she did my manicure, she left the edges unpolished (see the inside of my nails) and dirt under nails (ick, I know). I asked her to clean again and finally just asked to do it myself. Do NOT go there for dipping. They are really good at gel and regular manicures but this is one of the worst dipping manicures I've ever gotten. Not to mention she ruined one of the nails and instead of re-doing it just painted over it. I am extremely unimpressed and given the price, this is unacceptable. read more

I love this place! We went to visit my friends and we came here to this nice little boutique nail salon after brunch and I loved my experience. First, this place is extremely nice and clean just the way I like it. The ambiance is very chic and classy with their furniture. Their prices are competitive and service is amazing, everyone is very kind and very hospitable. I got a gel manicure and to my surprise, its been on for 3 weeks no problem. I have a wonderful manicurist in Boca Raton, Florida which is where I spend most of the year and did a rave review of Bliss Nails where I went for a few years when in NY until they no longer did powder. So now that I'm back in NY needing a powder manicure and a pedicure I consulted Yelp for a recommendation which gave 5 stars to Nu Mint Nail & Spa, so I felt confident making an appointment there after doing a little price comparison by phone. What a mistake!! Today I went for a 3rd repair of 2 more nails of 8 that cracked altogether. That's more than I've experienced in the 7 years that I've been paying a lot more than a regular manicure costs to protect and enhance my own very fragile nails. According to the manager of Nu Mint the cracking of the protective powder coating was all my fault since I hadn't been back for a $55 redo in 2 weeks. I've never needed this process removed and reapplied in 2 weeks. One of these cracks occurred horizontally and painfully right across the middle of my nail bed. None of the cracks had to do with wear and tear; rather they were caused by impact on a too thin coating that was applied that enabled the cracking of my natural nail underneath. I spent $8 at a salon that was open yesterday, Sunday. Today 2 more nails cracked. When I called Nu Mint that manager blamed me again saying they "are your nails. I didn't break your nails." She wanted me to come in at 6:30 during dinner time and would charge me $7 per repair. i asked how many coats of the acrylic powder they apply. She said "2", which shouldn't be expected to be protective - too thin and prone to cracking. I paid $100 for mani/pedi/tip. Nu Mint has been the opposite of a pampering pleasant experience. If this was the only nail salon in New York State I'd never get another. read more

I have been to Nu Mint a couple of times, but last night I received the worst rushed manicure/pedicure I have ever experienced. The staff was rude and looked annoyed. Also, they always seem to be adding services to the bill. For such an expensive place the experience should be relaxing! I will not be going back, even for the location convenience. This salon is new since January and a nice addition to the block. Parking is free in the lot or on the street. I had only a manicure, so I cannot comment on other services. The place is very clean and beautifully decorated. Music not too loud, a large TV was on with no sound and the A/C was comfortable. I liked the fact the technician unwrapped a new, never used emery board and sponge emery just for me as well as clippers and other metal equipment. She had me soak my hands which I've noticed is a step left out lately in many other salons. Although she gave me a wonderful hand/forearm massage as part of the manicure, there was no mini neck/back massage some salons provide while you sit at the dryer. That would have been perfect and I missed it. read more
