My husband and I made a last-minute appointment for massages after long hours of traveling. I was full of knots and in so much pain. They didn't open until 9 am but I was able to leave a voicemail. My call was promptly returned and we were able to get in a 10 am. We were greeted warmly in a lovely and very clean waiting area. We were offered water or tea and shown the changing area with lockers and a shower. We then met our masseurs who offered us choices of scented oils for our treatments. I chose the Fire scent which is for energy and had a fabulous one-hour hot stone massage with Katana (sorry if the name spelling is wrong). My husband had one hour of deep tissue. We both wish we had chosen longer treatments - it was heaven. My knots melted away and we left feeling wonderful. I highly recommend them!!! I read more

We did a couples massage here on our wedding day. It was wonderful service and I enjoyed the ambiance and the massage. The room was just the right temperature and my husband said they had nice men products for his hair and a nice hairdryer. What an amazing experience! Nuansa is an oasis in the middle of Rockefeller craziness. Yes it's a little expensive, but I truly think I got what I paid for. I got the 60 minute body scrub for $180. When you enter the space, you're invited to swap out your shoes for indoor fabric slippers. Then you are taken to a changing room with lockers where you change into a bathrobe. After that, you're taken to a relaxing lounge area with a velvet chaise, and a couple of flasks of cucumber infused water with small jars of dried apricots, almonds, and peas, if you felt peckish. I was asked to choose an essential oil from three different options (energizing, relaxing, invigorating?). The scrub session itself took place in a room with a heated bed. It started off with a quick massage, then the scrub, then a clay mask. Throughout this entire experience, the spa technician had excellent bedside manner - the lighting was lowered even more when my body was being exposed, and she made sure to cover any exposed limbs while working on others so I'd be comfortable (and not too cold). The session wrapped up with me being literally wrapped up in a heated body cocoon to induce sweat. At the end of the experience, I was led back to the changing room with the large shower and I washed all the clay and scrub residue away. The water felt like it didn't ever get that warm, but it's also possible that being heated up in the cocoon made everything felt cooler. Overall, this was an excellent and relaxing experience and I can't wait to return to try another treatment. read more

Went here to get a massage and facial, and they made sure I was truly comfortable at every moment -- going so far to refill my tea carefully each time they noticed I was low, presenting me with each essential oil to smell so I could select which I wanted for my services, and opening up doors (to the locker room or to the lounge or to my service room) as if I was some kind of royalty. They go above and beyond to create a quiet, tranquil, relaxing space. Furthermore, the services themselves were perfect. I found this location after a disappointing experience with another YELP recommendation. I was exhausted after an overnight flight and my hotel room was not ready. Sitting in a hotel lobby for 4 or 5 hours waiting for a room seemed as bad as still sitting next to that cranky 2 year old I rode over with from LA. Using YELP I found this location and I walked over with a mixture of trepidation and hope. The entrance is sandwiched in between high end store fronts on 5th ave. So be careful not to miss it or expect too much at first. Go, your trip to City will be better for it! You enter a tiny elevator and when you reach the floor you enter nirvana. Lovely friendly staff, beautiful space, fluffy towels and robes and subtle scents. Heaven... I told them what hurt and where and they called in a woman with 40 years of experience. I was on her table for 90 minutes and it was not cheap, but like everything else in New York you get what you pay for and it was worth it. Yes they also offer you herbal tea, champagne, fruit and nut snacks and the whole experience is worth it! read more

This spa is absolutely beautiful. When you enter, you completely forget you were just on busy Fifth Avenue. The owner and staff are just so genuinely sweet and warm. They really make you feel cozy. The lounge area has snacks and lemon and cucumber waters. They also offer you a selection of teas. The bathroom has a shower and locker area and a separate room for the toilet. They offer nice little toiletries and a Dyson hair dryer. My masseuse was lovely and really listened to how I wanted things. I got the bamboo glow and it was one of the best spa treatments I've ever experienced. After the treatment was finished, I got changed and had champagne and chocolate truffles in the lounge room. The best deep tissue massage I've ever had! For my birthday I ended up booking the Nuansa Classic Massage with added on 15 min Face and Scalp Massage and 15 min Foot Reviver Massage. I booked online which was quick and easy. Upon stepping off the elevator I was greeted by a host and given slippers and a robe. They escorted me to the changing room which consisted of lockers, one large shower, a changing area, and a separate room with a toilet. It wasn't until after my treatment that I noticed just how small this space was.. I'll get to that later. I was next taken to a waiting area and offered a beverage and chocolates. It was very posh and truly relaxing! At this point someone came in to help me select the oils that would be used in my massage and also the level of pressure for the message- I went with the deepest option. The treatment itself was AMAZING. This woman knew her stuff. She used different techniques of pressure points and stretching, and applied heat. I have had a knot in one of my shoulders for 2 years that has left other therapists whimpering in defeat, yet she worked that bad boy right out. I was almost in tears at one point, but it hurt so good! As for my add on services- it didn't feel like I had the full 15 minutes for the Foot Massage and the Face & Scalp massage is basically just a hair mask, which left me disappointed. I wont pay extra for those in the future. After the treatment I went back to the shower and then proceeded to the incredibly small changing area.. There is 1 chair, which was already occupied by someones bag, and two spots at the counter for hair drying, makeup, skincare, etc. There were 4 of us in there at one point, which left me awkwardly squatting bare-ass in my towel, trying to dig through my bag on the floor for clothes and makeup. It brought back memories of my teenage years, sharing a small bathroom with my sister.. except instead of 1 sister its 3, and instead of my sister its complete strangers. It took about an hour longer than I expected to get out of there. Overall, it is definitely worth the price! I cannot stress how great the massage is. You take the elevator upstairs and it opens into a peaceful, quiet safe haven, with gentle melodic music, soft lighting and hushed voices. The manager greets you with exceptional service, going as far as kneeling down to help to put on your slippers, and staff is ever present and attentive, and helpful, making sure you are always hydrated and comfortable. The locker room was clean, and comfortable, with a handicap accessible bathroom. Their waiting area was beautifully furnished with amenities for your comfort. The massage room was very clean and comfortable. The esthetician as extremely knowledgeable and identified things about my skin that I didn't even know, despite being skin care obsessed. She even followed up on steps to help take care of my skin. the service itself was absolutely immaculate, hands down worth the money. I did the 90 min Purifying Facial and it was INCREDIBLE. They truly go above and beyond including a body massage and head/hair massage. I did this service in June and my skin was glowing all summer long! read more

Everything in this facility was super clean, the receptionist was so nice and welcoming, and the masseuses do a great job. Very professional and skilled. They ask you beforehand if there's any specific part of your body that you want them to focus on. The bathroom was really big and clean. They use high-end products for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. There's a dryer, make-up, and other necessities you can use after your massage. My friends and I booked three massages (two prenatal and one deep tissue) here for this past Saturday. The spa is located on the 5th floor. Upon exiting the elevator we were greeted and given slippers to change into. We were then escorted into the changing rooms where we were shown the lockers and bath robes. After changing we were lead into the relaxation room. The room had mini Poland Spring water bottles for each of us as well as some light snacks. We didn't get to enjoy any of the snacks as our masseuses came into the room within minutes with iPads for us to fill in our personal information. For the prenatal massages the essential oils were already pre-selected. For the deep tissue massage there were three options of essential oils to choose from. We each had a 60 minute massage. Personally, I loved my massage! It was definitely one of the best I've ever had. Everything was set up so comfortably and my masseuse focused on the areas I specifically requested and used just the right amount of pressure. I am already considering booking my next massage together with my husband! After our massages we were given another mini water bottle and lead back into the changing rooms. Again, here, it felt a bit rushed again, as the masseuse came into the room as we were changing to get the bath robes back. I wish after the massage they let you relax a bit back in the relaxation room. As that is how it works in my experience with other spas. Upon exiting we handled our bills and there was also an option to leave tip on the credit card. We had cash but this is definitely a very convenient option! Overall, I was very satisfied with the spa and massages. It was very clean and definitely gave off a relaxing vibe. My only wish is that it did not feel as rushed and more time was given to relax for a bit before and/or after the massages. read more

Nuansa is, hands down, the most amazing spa experience I've ever had. It's located on the 5th floor of an unremarkable building on 5th Avenue; but once the elevator doors open you're transported to a calming oasis. Nuanchawee, the lovely spa owner, greeted you by my name as I stepped into the calming entryway, and took my coat and shoes. After I changed into my robe I went into the beautiful lounge, where my glass of champagne was waiting for me (Nuanchawee had asked what kind of beverage I'd like). Also on the table was a mound of the most delicious chocolate truffles I've ever had, plus some other snacks. As for the treatments themselves, they were everything you'd expect and more from a high-end spa. I've found that some of the fancier spas I've been to in the past lean more towards Swedish massages with light strokes; but my lovely massage therapist (whose name I sadly cannot recall, as she was fantastic) used the perfect amount of pressure to work out my knots. After my De-Stress Massage and Himalayan Salt Body Scrub, I rinsed off in a shower roughly the size of my entire bathroom and then returned for my Purity Facial, filled with delightful soothing creams and masks and ending with an unbelievable scalp massage. The whole experience was amazing from beginning to end. Nuanchawee and her staff clearly work hard to make you feel special and pampered. I never wanted to leave! read more

I asked them to adjust it, tellinng them the the quoted prices were 1/3 less, and I had not even expected a problem. I had a 5pm appointment on Sat to get my first prenatal message. From the moment I stepped out of the elevator, we were transformed to a serene place. The manager and massage therapist greeted me and my brother in a calm and almost whispering voice and exchanged our shoes for slippers. When I went into the changing room, I felt like I had the place to myself with a nice bathroom and shower. After changing into the robe we went into the relaxation room where they offered me special herbal tea good for pregnancy and I helped myself to delicious chocolate truffles and wasabi pea snack. Then to the main event - my brother went into a separate room for a full body Swedish massage and I had my full body prenatal massage with Pauline - that hour truly flew by! It was very relaxing and yet she seem to know what points in my body to apply more pressure. I was also provided with lots of pillows so getting a massage on my side was comfortable. The oil she applied on my body also had a very pleasing scent which added to the relaxation. After, they offered us more tea in the relaxation room before we went on the evening. It seems they make an effort to time the appointments so it would feel like you had the spa to yourself. Each of our treatment was $160 each plus gratuity but it was def worth the splurge! I will def be back in my 3rd trimester along with my brother to treat himself for Xmas lol Note: Do not get a massage if you are only in your first trimester as that period is considered unstable for the fetus. First of all the receptionist on the phone is impatient，unhelpful，and unfriendly with a new customer asking question about the service and the products they use. Wife treated me to a Purifying Body Boost, it consisted of a body scrub, full body mud mask, get wrapped in hot towels, warm towelling off. While laying in the warm towel wrap, Jessie massaged my scalp with oils. It felt amazing, pretty sure I fell asleep a couple times during this part. Then off for a shower followed by an hour long massage. Great experience overall, the spa is very nice and staff is attentive. Nuansa is a little oasis in the middle of midtown Manhattan. It's tucked away in a little building on 5th Ave but it's not one of those sketchy looking places. Inside it's very clean and they try very hard to keep a nice quiet peaceful vibe. You're offered water or tea as you wait in your spa robe. You can nibble on nuts, dried fruit or even little chocolates. You can also select which "element" fire, wood or water to use during your massage. It's included in the massage price, so it's not like at other spas where the aromatherapy is pushed on you (as a hidden charge, oftentimes) My masseuse was very strong on the pressure, as I had requested, but very intuitive so she focused on my tight sore areas without hurting me. The only area that's a bit awkward is the changing area because it's a little small, but we were able to get privacy as needed. The owner is very gracious and welcoming and tries very hard to make sure you have a pleasant experience. We've been here previously and will be sure to return again. read more

I seldom take the time to leave reviews as I always find that it's not worth it. I have been craving for a "good" massage, not even a great one, as no one have met my expectations, until today. Searched on Google and then Yelp and tried to avoid the "ad" false advertisements that proclaim to be the top 10 or 15 or whatever. I looked at Nuansa and felt that I might give the a try. I called for a 120 minute massage and, lucky me, they had one available for the afternoon. The person I spoke to, over the phone, seemed very pleasant and helpful. Needless to say, I walked in, expecting the usual BS..... From the moment the elevator door opened into the SPA, I felt strangely relaxed and hopeful. A lovely woman greeted me with a warm smile, Chawee, and invited me to sit in the foyer while she was helping checking out other clients. They rebooked a few massages for their mom and seemed so happy with the services. I did not let it affect me, since I have been disappointed so many times before. After I checked in, I was invited to go to the locker room to change....impeccable and not a speck of dust anywhere....the hamper was empty, they had beautiful white towels to dry your hands (the canister there was also empty and cleaned out) and I was asked if I wanted anything to drink while I was waiting for my therapist. I declined but was told, by the same woman who greeted me at the entrance Chawee, that champagne or fresh brewed tea were delicious. They had several options of tea and I chose the ginger one. A beautiful Japanese ceramic mug was awaiting for me in a beautiful plushy waiting room. There were small bottles of water and snacks on a shiny, clean glass cart. The tea was incredible. By far, the best tea I've ever drank!! I felt I was on to something. Chawee came into the room and asked me how I wanted my massage to be, always polite, always smiling, always lovely. After a few minutes, my masseuse, Neru, came to get me and I followed her into my room. Clean, dim, inviting, comfy and the aroma of the diffuser was enchanting. I was in heaven for 120 minutes. The massage was as good from the start, as it was throughout the 2 hours to the last seconds. Neru didn't skimp or got lost in the movements, as they were precise and savvy. Not once, through my massage, did I hear their phone ringing, doors slamming, walking around. Except with a few idiots that walked into the SPA with a loud voice, they seemed to have been immediately shushed and thought to be mindful of others. I know, it doesn't seem a lot to ask for but, after all, most people don't give a s...t. I am so happy.....I've booked another one for next week and can't wait. It doesn't come at a bargain but neither is happiness. Worth every penny. Chawee, you're a superstar and Neru, I'm speachless. Great job guys. Don't have to dream about it any longer.
