Mixed feelings about Nubian Markets. The staff of the grocery store is as friendly as grocery store staff. However, for the dining service the staff at the counter was on his phone the entire time and totally inattentive. It wasn't clear when he was talking to us or on the phone and wouldn't pause his call to take our order. Just would take our order in between him speaking on the phone. The food itself was also mixed. The jerk chicken was really good with an okay kick to it. The fried okra was very tasty and crispy. The hatian hot chicken though was very disappointing. It was a poorly constructed fried chicken sandwich without anything unique about it. The chicken itself was okay but the sandwich definitely is not worth the $14. You can get much better fried chicken sandwiches in many other places. And overall the atmosphere wasn't great. Wasnt bad but sort felt like a high school cafeteria. If I try it again, I would go for takeout. read more

I was told about the jerk salmon and it was amazing ! Some of the food was served cold but I could still taste all the good flavors and it was cooked perfectly. The girl who took my order was really nice and wanted me to get the best service. Energy in the place was really good and the grocery store was really clean and served great food options. I'm not sure why our experience was the opposite of the ones that others have described. The three stars are solely for the service and the grocery store. I believe we met the manager who was very nice to speak to. The grocery store had an eclectic mix of items and we had fun browsing and buying grocery items we had not tried before. However, our main reason for the visit, the food, was a big let down. The meat in the Peri Peri chicken sandwich was dry, chewy, and bland which was so surprising given the depth of Peri Peri spice. We also added on a Jamaican jerk chicken calzone to the order. As you can see in one of the photos, it consisted of some cheese, a few pieces of red, yellow peppers, and finally bland white cubed chicken. What it was missing was the Jamaican jerk spice. And the cover was an overly thick whole wheat roti. How terribly disappointing. The descriptions of the food and the concept are great. I hope that they will take this feedback and try to make it as flavorful as it sounds. read more

I tried Nubian Markets after hearing about its recent opening last week. The space is wonderful with a grocery store, restaurant, a butchery, and plenty of seating inside and outside the store. The staff was extremely friendly and I ordered over the phone about 25 minutes before and my order was ready when I arrived. I was in a rush so I couldn't dine in or try too much, so I just got the burger. It was delicious, the mix of flavors was truly unique and made for a special experience. It's wrapped in a house made pita that is equally tasty! I will not be shocked when this burger is rated one of the best in Boston AND a staple of the halal Boston experience. It is a must try! Very clean! Very well lit. Service is slow, but it's early, so i get it. I went around dinner time and they were only service sandwiches and salads, no bowls. The grab and go section was great. The food is some of the most flavorful food I've ever had. Even my picky toddler enjoyed it. Great price and good food amount. My husband said he could eat 2 off the sandwiches. The bread for the sandwiches is made fresh. Part of the reason i had to wait so long is they were waiting for the bread to bake. Overall great experience. Delicious food - we tried the peri peri chicken sandwich and the butcher burger. Both very good, I enjoyed the chicken better but my husband was a bigger fan of the burger! Both sandwiches have delicious seasoning and tasty sauce. The bread is thin and crispy- the perfect touch. Would definitely come back again! Wait. This place is AMAZING!!! No matter where you are coming from, Nubian Markets is worth the trip!!! I work for a small nonprofit and we needed a meeting space and catering for an all day retreat, and I discovered Nubian Markets during a Google rabbit hole. They have a beautiful, bright, airy space that fits 20 comfortably/cozy, with strong wifi and powerful AC (necessary when the walls are sunlit glass!). Every single person we spoke with was so kind, helpful, and accommodating. We had coffee and delicious pastries, yogurt, and granola for breakfast, and when I say that the lunch was the best catered food I've ever had, I'm not exaggerating. So good and flavorful, items for adventurous and less adventurous eaters, and they graciously and easily accommodated different dietary needs. All in all, can't recommend this place more highly!!! read more

We ordered the crispy chicken and the burger and fries. This may just be the most joyful burger experience I have ever had. Truly a delicious and creative take on a burger. Even the bread was exquisite. The fries were lightly seasoned, had a crunch on the outside and were nice and soft on the inside. They came with an aioli sauce that matched perfectly. A few suggestions, but they certainly don't detract from my rating: It would be wonderful if they sold bread, but fresh injeera can sometimes be a substitute! It's been getting hard to enjoy purchasing food anymore because the main server who is usually at the desk checking out is so incredibly disrespectful and rude that it is so enjoyable to be in the space. We visited Nubian Markets after hearing rave reviews from a friend and meeting the owner at another one of his well-liked businesses. Definitely a high-end vibe and nice concept with fresh groceries, made to order food and an additional community gathering space. As the name suggests the store also features products for the African diaspora and anyone else interested in cultural enrichment. It was, however, surprisingly wonderful to discover a highly popular chai associated snack --Zeera cookies--in the aisles. Even though I didn't recognize the brand, I had to buy them and they were pretty good. Wow! The space was well-curated, inviting and kept exceptionally well-organized and clean. I asked for a Nubian latte with almond milk and it was amazing! I've had my fair share of non-dairy latte disappointments in life, so I was surprised. The prices were quite fair. The bakery items were expertly made, fresh and delicious. I haven't tried the rest of the food yet but look forward to it! The grocery store is thoughtfully stocked with a variety of international cheeses and breads. Wonderful store. I love the variety of food and beverages they have. Of course you will likely find things a little cheaper in the larger grocery stores, but I do not mind paying a little extra to support this business - plus it is much easier to shop here - not an abundance of aisles - nice ambiance. They award points for frequent shoppers. The service is very good. I love the hot food. Unfortunately, there are no substitutions to the menu.
