We just popped in there because it was close to our motel and I wanted a single beer and some nail polish remover. They had both for reasonable prices. Nugget Market has a nice selection of items not normally found at Safeway. There's a large variety of local items here. The prices are a little more expensive than Safeway though, but that's to be expected when there are local and fresher items. The staff here are very friendly and can help you out in a pinch. The times I have been here, I have always gone for beer, so I can't comment on the food items or the deli here. If you're here for liquor, they have an abnormally large bottle of Arrogant Bastard Ale that I believe is 3 Quarts worth for $85. I personally love the Golden State of Mind Ale. read more

To the locals in the Davis area this might be just another average grocery store. To the people from out of town, like myself, Nugget Market is was like grocery store wonderland. Besides being a very clean store and having a beautiful meat and fish counter, the main thing that really impressed me was the fact that they had Cowgirl Creamery cheeses. I recently visited the Cowgirl Creamery a few weeks prior and fell in love with the cheese. I have never seen the cheese being sold in any other store so when I saw a good selection at Nugget, a little burst of happiness filled me. Not only do they sell Cowgirl Creamery cheese, but the woman who was working the little cheese display counter and passing out samples, knew all about the cheese I was excited about and herself was excited, and knowledgeable. Nugget is one of those grocery stores that carries fresh produce, interesting snacks, and upscale item choices and prices. Most things are more expensive than TJs or Safeway but if you find the sale items and special deals of the week, there's hidden gems to be had. I prefer the larger nugget location since this one lacks a hot food bar. The staff is super friendly here and I like the bakery section. I'd probably recommend getting your name brand products elsewhere but you can't beat one of the nugget cakes, cookies, or chocolates! read more

This is pretty much a high-class grocery store. Cool things: The staff is really nice They make extremely good sandwiches at the deli They have free samples sometimes They have a huge variety of juices/drinks They have a huge variety of liquor, very extensive collection The carts are ergonomic, they're not that deep so you don't have to reach so far and strain your muscles, ha The only drawback is the price, but it's what you'd expect from a grocery store like this. I like to come here just to get a random beer because there's so many different ones. This place is also near a god Mexican place so check that out if you're in the mood for that. The only place in south Davis for a decent booze run. Definitely a whole foods knockoff, but if you're too lazy to drive to whole foods IT definitely makes due in a pinch. It's a love hate affair with the Nugget at Mace. For the pros, First of, I love how nice and hospitable everyone is. I love how clean and odorless it is. I love how convenient it's located of the freeway and home. I love there secret sales, they are awesome. But unfortunately, to good to be true. They're meat department closes an hour earlier than there posted meat department hours. As an example, today 12/5/16, we went @ 8:10 and no meat inside there meat coolers and on there shelves except a newyork steak at $18.99 everything else was already stored away. Really?!? Guess someone one needs to go home early and unfortunately sure not the first time. I already lost count, this is too much. I am in the food industry myself and have a higher threshold, but this is enough. Secondly, please stop charging Parmiaggaino reggiano rind as cheese. I stopped here this afternoon to pick up some flowers. A couple of girls who were working there went out of their way to help me out. One of them saw I was struggling to walk with my cane. She went and found a riding cart and brought it to me so I could get around the store easier. It was very sweet of her and really helped me out. Great little grocery store, lots of organic produce. I also bought a hat there once and tasty pies for Thanksgiving.

They have no baby changing station in the bathroom!! For such a nice store they need to invest in putting one in the restroom.

This is my favorite place to buy groceries. Good service and good food. Accepts Apple Pay which makes things even faster.

Ok, I have a confession to make. Sometimes I shop at Walmart for food. I know, I know. Go ahead and judge me. The prices, as we know are competitive and as a working student, sometimes I just can't shy away. Why is this relevant? I think my new personal goal in life is to reach the point where I can exclusively shop at Nugget. The employees are so nice and polite. The produce is fresh and tasty. The options in the deli and bakery are to die for. They just generally have a great selection for everything. Every Thanksgiving, we order a holiday meal from Nugget. This year they were supposedly sold out for the small turkey meal so we ended up paying a lot more for a large turkey meal. When I went to pick up my meal, they brought out 2 small turkeys because they ran out of large turkeys! I told them that we really wanted 1 small turkey and only paid for the large turkey because the small was "sold out". I asked if I could keep 1 small turkey and get a refund for the difference. They told me, nope, no way to do that with an online order. How ridiculous! read more

Ive only been to Nugget a few times & only once to this location. The store is super clean, stocked up and the staff is eager to help. I ran up here one day for a work errand..i was in a rush, had NO IDEA where anything was and after just a brief moment of walking around looking lost i was asked if i needed assistance. Which i did, so i handed the lady my list and told her i didnt know where anything was so she walked me to every isle i needed to go to and when there was 1 item she couldnt find she quickly found another lady who walked us right over to it and now the first lady knows where this is for future customers. There was no line so i was in an out and able to return back to quickly with everything the boss requested. read more

Driving on I-80 westward I was understandably disappointed so many dining establishments were closed due to it being New Year's Day. Stopping for gas saw the usual fast-food eateries that I didn't want, but then saw the Nugget Market open, so decided to hop in and see what they had. I can say the clam chowder I got was the most delicious I have ever tasted in a market soup counter or restaurant! Now I am wishing there was a Nuggest Market in San Francisco proper! All smiling faces and a great welcome to the market! I'll now be searching for Nuggest Markets wherever I go! The items I had from the deli section were tasty too!! Although this building is older and its exterior is outdated, Nugget -- much like its produce -- is fresh and vibrant. After burning the midnight oil and now on the hunt for breakfast time sustenance, on such a brisk morning, I was greeted by a grandfather-ly employee. NO JOKE: people seriously love working for Nugget! The size of this Nugget is just right, not like the behemoth near my parents' neighborhood in Greenhaven. The produce section is still proportionately large, but the bakery is slightly too small for this carb-aholic. =( Savoring a buttery, flaky croissant was not meant to be since they were sold out. I just left Nugget Market in Davis and I'm appalled! I swung by to pick up a couple quick snacks since I'm on a road trip. I went to the rest room then grabbed groceries and headed to the clerk. Upon checkout I realized I left my wallet wasn't in my purse and I had left it in the car. I asked my friend to run to the car to retrieve it while I wait with the clerk to purchase my $5.61 grocery bag of things. Then I realized I have my checkbook. I asked the clerk if I can write a check and he says yeah. So I wrote a check. Then he says can I see your ID. I said yeah sure but that's in my wallet so you still have to hold then. I said what do you need? He said your DL#, I give it to him since I memorize it. Then he goes and your birth date. I say that aloud too. Then he goes I need management.... So management comes. I'm confused to why this is escalating. Then the manager says sorry we can't take this check your address is in SoCal. I said excuse me? He says yeah it says "Wells Fargo" at the bottom and the top has your address in SoCal. I say, "Well, it says Wells Fargo, because it's a Wells Fargo personal check... And that's not SoCal..." He says, "Where's Riverbank?! We can only accept checks from the local area. We don't even accept checks from Sacramento" LIKE WHAT?! Anyone who ever used a check knows that just doesn't make sense... I've never felt so discriminated in my life. read more

They sell Gehl's Premium Nacho Cheese Sauce in 18 oz. packages and Bob's Red Mill Unsweetened Coconut Flakes! This place is pretty pricey when items aren't on sale, but employees are pleasantly helpful and they sell things you can't find elsewhere. (most of the guys that work at this location are pretty cute, just saying) And for those people who want to make seafood stock or something strange like that, you can request fish heads and bones and other things from the Seafood Dept. They will do their best to get it to you. They have a full deli here and hot soups (soups here are hotter in temperature than the ones in the North Davis location). Deli has really fallen off this week. No pasta salad of any kind. No meatloaf. It was obvious somebody's never made chicken salad before. Really dry. I don't think they used any mayonnaise at all. I absolutely love this place! This is a store filled with customer service driven employees. The employees' energy and love for their jobs make it a great experience every time I go in. Christina in the cheese department will bend over backwards to find the yummy cheese you were looking for, even if you had no idea you were looking for it. Julia is always smiling and it is contagious! Jen in the bakery is the best! She saw me come in one day and tracked me down just to tell me that they had gotten in the single slices of a cake I LOVE. I wish I knew more of their names because they deserve the recognition. This Nugget is definitely doing something right and It shows in the quality of their food. I can always count on getting an amazing sandwich from the deli, a perfectly cut piece of meat from the meat department, a freshly picked fruit/veggie, a perfectly sliced Ettore's cake from the bakery or a perfectly prepared slice of cheese. read more

Adrienna in the bakery spent as much time as I needed on the phone this morning going over all my options for a cake. It's for a special occasion and I really appreciated her taking the time. Every single time I'm in this nugget I have a good experience. The teams are friendly and helpful, the store is well stocked and easy to maneuver. As other reviewers have mentioned, Nugget is basically a knock-off of Whole Foods without its own ubiquitous product line. And although Nugget talks a good low-price talk, it seldom delivers...excepting a couple times per month when, for example, a pint of Ben and Jerry's is on sale for $3. A few times per week I'll get bagels and coffee in the morning (free single serving packets of cream cheese, ask the deli!) or ready-to-eat soup in the afternoon. Their soups are really THE BEST, especially the New England clam chowder. I also love their everything bagels. Really, Nugget has a lot going for it, especially in the quality, selection, and customer service departments...but ultimately it's just too expensive. It's for this reason that I rarely do any kind of major shopping here. read more

Nugget is my favorite store. I've been shopping here for over 25 years. I had a horrible experience last night, with a young man (who was cold and rude during my checkout process, who thought it would be OK to put my pie in my bag SIDEWAYS. I was very shocked to see the way he had placed the item in my paper bag which I assumed he had put flat down but when I got home the pie and all of its contents had spilled out. It's really sad when you spend almost $20 on a pie For it to be totally wrecked. I managed to put it back together because the children Really wanted their dessert and it was getting late. . But I must say, I will probably deal with the inconvenience of driving all the way across town instead of right down the street to the mace store! read more

I've always enjoyed shopping at Nugget Markets. I've been to all of them, and this is probably my least favorite of them all for no reason other than size and layout. I shopped here for the same reason I shopped at the other Davis Nugget, and at the Woodland Nugget...they were the ones that were close to my home. I was very well acquainted with the one on Pole Line, so I'd have to say that it's my favorite. On to the review...great meats, great produce, smaller (but still great) bakery...nice selection of beer and wine. Plenty of gourmet food to choose from. Organic products as well...just what you'd expect from a higher end grocery. This easily compares to a Whole Foods Market...and about the same price. They say they have better prices, and even do a price comparison...but I don't see better prices while looking at my receipt. Is it always on the items I don't buy? Great company. Very nice and attentive employees. Clean store. Higher than average prices, but higher than average quality of food and products. Definitely worth shopping at if you have the means...meaning dollars. read more

This market is so adorable! It's really organized and sometimes it's even fun to just walk around and browse. The staff is really friendly and never hesitate to help when you need it! There's some days were the porkchop is seriously cheap! The cheapest I got was 5 reasonably cut slices for $4! They also have a variety selection of beer, like lots of selection! :O I've never tried their sandwiches yet but it looks so gooood!!
