Food looks great. Sushi reasonably price and you can watch it being made. The bakery. Most friendly workers. The cashiers were nice too. It was very bust but the workers all made up of good vibes. My main concern with this store is that the aisle space is very narrow compared to the huge shopping carts. This store is always busy, so it's challenging to simply navigate the store without feeling like you're constantly in somebody's way. I wish the store managers would consider widening the aisles and removing objects that stick out into pathways. I witnessed someone who was using a mobility scooter struggling to maneuver through the bakery section. I highly doubt the store is ADA compliant, let alone friendly to folks using mobility aids. I like this store and shop here often, just hoping someone from higher up will see this! read more

The day after "Jonathan G." of Nugget Market left his response to my Yelp review, I was in the store. I heard an announcement over the store-wide loud speaker call one and all to the "delicious offerings" at the breakfast hot food bar naming the options -- scrambled eggs, tator tots, sausages, sautéed vegetables...with Nugget pride. Yes, come one and all to the TASTY FAT FEST! Come and have your arteries clogged! Come and spend money on the tasty, salty, fat-filled, unhealthy options we have provided for you! Come spend your money daily on our tasty, artery clogging options! Come and have a gall stone episode (like I did -- no joke). SHAME ON YOU, NUGGET MARKETS! And another thing -- so they WILL juice organic produce. But here's the caveat: you have to purchase that produce from Nugget on the day you have it juiced. That means buying a quantity of organic produce that is likely greater than what is needed for the juicing. And if you want juice the next day, you'll have to buy the same organic produce all over again! That's why I've never seen anyone do this at Nugget (and they don't advertise this option either) -- because it's designed to discourage customers from getting organic juice. It's a non-profitable hassle for them. Pesticide residue isn't a joke. Cancer rates have been growing exponentially. There are many factors, but don't you think it's likely all the insecticidal poisons used to grow veggies and fruits are part of the problem? Drink Nugget juice from their coffee/juice bar on a regular basis at your own risk. read more

I love shopping at the Nugget markets for many reasons such as their philosophy on stocking their shelves with foods from local growers, dairy's, and other companies. The vibe at the Davis Nugget is slightly different than that is Sac. They have a big selection of heat and eat meals, which I appreciate, and they have a self serve food bar across from their deli counter with prepared chicken strips, stir fry, ramen, and veggies. In the front of the store they have an excellent selection of produce as well. The wine selection is bigger at the Davis Nugget...as are the choices of different types of cheese. Additional note: you will not find a made to order salad counter for fresh tossed salads at this nugget... but they do have a bigger and better food and beverage selection overall. read more

The employees are always super friendly and welcoming as well. This morning, I stopped by to get a green juice. I got the Oz and it's really good! I just wish I would have asked for ice in it, but that's my fault. They always have great food, especially their Nugget kitchen prepared foods, but the prices are what you'd expect from a gourmet market. It's probably still better than Whole Foods for prices, and they always have certain staples that you can find for everyday low prices (especially their in-house brand called Fresh to Market). I always look forward to my visit especially to the Mace Blvd store because I like how this store always seems calm no matter how crowded. I go to the bigger one when I feel like going on more of a grocery adventure, or if I want a bigger pastry selection. The only thing is, I wish that they'd reduce the price of their fresh bread loaves at the end of the day, like how a normal bakery would do. read more

The Nugget is my favorite store, unfortunately it's also very expensive. I know they used to have (maybe they still do, but don't go often ) a board comparing their prices to other stores around. But I'm sure they have that because they hear it's too expensive. Sure you can find deals and if time wasn't an issue I might go for some deals but I'd rather go get the bulk of what I need from Walmart or Safeway. Nugget has always been one of my favorite places to shop for groceries, and having one close by in Davis is a real plus for me. It's a little pricey but you are definitely paying for quality and they have a ton of options for whatever you're looking for. I'm a huge fan of their bakery and get their bread, bagels, and croissants often. I wish I could do 4.5 stars My only gripe with nugget is it's expensive, I don't mind paying out for good fresh vegetables and local brands but I feel like I pay significantly more here for things I could get in places like Safeway. They also have a wide range of hot sauces for a supermarket - highly recommend aardvark sauce if you're looking for a tasty habanero kick!! Other than this - the staff make awesome conversation! Like I know their job forces them to do the small talk but they're good at it and it doesn't feel like forced conversation! I also love how inclusive they are! I've been served by people of all shape / ethnicity / orientation / ability, for me anybody that employs everybody from a guy with Down syndrome (one of the kindest people who's served me in this nugget is!!) to a guy who does his make up far more fabulously and flawlessly than me is an employer who cares about the community. I really like the nugget market and wish it was closer to my home. This is a very family oriented and welcoming small chain grocery store. All of the food items seem really fresh and of good quality. We stopped in here after moving our daughter up to Davis for graduate school. They have really good sandwiches. They offer a gluten free focaccia bread option on all sandwiches. There are several tasty options. The focaccia bread is not dry or chewy like many gluten-free breads are. They have tables available to eat at. While we were eating our lunch one of the staff came out and cleaned up nearby tables that had recently been vacated. Very cool supermarket. It's similar in style to Whole Foods but with better selections and way better quality foods. Apparently everything comes from local producers and you can tell from the freshness of the food. This review is for the store on Covell Blvd and Pole Line Road. Ok, it is huge. Once you get to know where things are, you can find everything you need....and more! That being said, sometimes things are in odd places--and constantly changing. If you can't find it, ask someone. They have a full meat and seafood department--everything is incredibly fresh. Need a special order? They'll do that. Want your crab cracked and cleaned? Yup. They have a full bakery with fresh-made (on the premises) bread, cakes and pastries. There is also a full deli with made-to-order sandwiches. They also have a salad and hot food bar (LIMITED DUE TO COVID). AND...fresh made sushi! GOOD sushi! There is also homemade Chinese food (decent, but I far prefer my Four Seasons Gourmet, reviewed elsewhere). The beer and wine selection is AMAZING. Nugget employees are awesome. All locations. Seriously, all of them. They are so helpful and will literally go and find whatever item you have scoured their store for. They go above and beyond. I do prefer the smaller store in south Davis---it is a little easier to find things, but they don't have quite as much either. Nugget is the only supermarket I'll shop in in Davis. In a sea of farmers markets and smaller mom and pop shops which Davis is known for Nugget's is a great change of pace which offers the small town feel while providing an upscale experience. The market has a wide variety of assorted items not seen is your average market. The real jewel are the counters serving up some great dishes, breads, salads and sandwiches. Admittedly, the ordering process for the sandwiches was a little confusing. I'd suggest getting a ticketing system because when I went it was chaotic. Ordered up a few sandwiches. As everyone knows the bread makes the sandwich and these will not disappoint. The assortments of breads are really a nice addition to any meal. While not the most inexpensive place to shop I'd say it's worth a trip to take if you're in the fence. If you want to skip the crowded restaurants in the city and expect something a little more you might want to give Nuggets a visit. WOW I am shocked. I bought a sweet role and large coffee at the South Davis Nugget Market this morning and the young cashier was incredibly rude. She literally accused me of lying and possibly stealing. I told her that I had a sweet role in the bag and she needed to inspect because I might be lying. I gave her cash and she refused to hand me the change. Instead she put the change on the counter in front of me as if I was a leper. I asked for some napkins and she did not want to hand them to me. New to the area and looking for gluten free lunch places. This market came up on my yelp search and looked like it had some decent deli options so I stopped by. I love this place. So clean, smells amazing and everything looked so damn good! The meat counter was immaculate and not too overpriced as some reviews state. Produce was definitely overpriced though. They had a million and one new gluten free products including an epic gf frozen section. The deli food are labeled well and the ingredients list make it super easy for me to spot what has or does not have gluten. Broccoli salad and tarragon chicken salad was about $7 and waay worth the money. You can tell fresh ingredients were used and the flavor much better than any chain salads. I'll be back in for sure to try more of their products and deli items, maybe splurge on a tomahawk chop for the boyfriends bday ;) read more

I ordered an artisanal meat and cheese platter as well as the Greek platter for a special lunch anniversary date I planned for my husband. Only received half my order and my husband had to go back, ruining the mood that had been set. Then he had to wait because they forgot to make it and it was never ready in the first place. This took an additional hour away from us and it would have been nice for the day to go as originally planned. However, the following day the manager called to formally apologize and take accountability for the error- outlining the steps she would take in the future to avoid this happening to anyone else. Wonderful staff and managers at Nugget Market went above and beyond!!! Our plans to visit our mother for her birthday this year were cancelled due to ice on the roads and, of course, the COVID-19 pandemic. We had planned to make our mom a chocolate birthday cake, and were heartbroken about not being able to be there. Store Manager Paul and Nugget staff were incredibly helpful in taking down an order for a chocolate birthday cake and a custom floral design. I was able to arrange the order and payment in advance (even though the order was relatively small!) so that my dad could pick up the order the day before our mom's birthday. Staff were very professional, welcoming, and friendly and helped me talk through the order. Thank you so much to the wonderfully skilled and highly professional bakery and floral staff, and thank you so much to Paul for going above and beyond. Nugget is pretty much like Whole Foods, but with fancier and bigger variety of cooked foods. And in my opinion I think a bit pricey than Whole Foods. Many things that can be found in Safeway or Savemart will most likely be overpriced here. I only shop at markets like these for hard-to-find or small brand items that aren't sold in large chained supermarkets or if I want higher quality dessert that Safeway does not offer. I came here with a couple friends yesterday craving some desserts - cake to be specific. We could not decide between the red velvet and German Chocolate so we bought both. The German Chocolate one was pretty good, but the red velvet was such a disappointment, especially since we bought the last one assuming it was a popular pick. They used vanilla frosting (which tasted artifical) instead of cream cheese which made it a red cake with vanilla frosting not red velvet cake. Would not get anything red velvet the next time I come back for dessert. But other than that I've also tried their Kailua (coffee) cake which was amazing and their Oreo cookies and cream cake was pretty good too. read more
