I lost confidence in Save Mart's accuracy yesterday. Five of my items were overcharged: two were much more than the price listed on the shelf; three had incorrect prices on the shelf as compared to the current Save Mart ad. I had to show the clerk the correct prices using Save Mart's app and he barely believed me. The result? Over 20 minutes of having the five items refunded and then having the five items rung up again with the correct prices entered. I was originally overcharged $14. What a waste of time. I cannot trust Save Mart's pricing. read more

Save Mart sure is a supermarket! It's conveniently located, but that doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. Unfortunately, the app for this store almost never works, which makes it super difficult for you to actually benefit from any of the potential discounts. The prices are also unreasonably high even when the app does work. Good place to stop in at if you need just one thing, but that's about it. read more

AMAZON WORKER OLDER LADY the taller african american woman working at the amazon drop off is SO off-putting and just rude! i had a gift return that was sent to me and was just told to drop off my uggs at this location. i was confused about this because i didn't know the uggs were purchased through amazon, so the lady just started yelling at me telling me "We only do amazon" while walking away from me, just yelling with no offer for help. someone else stepped in, younger man with glasses probably college age, he could tell i was not getting the service i needed so he just immediately stepped in and did the return for me! he was a sweetheart i feel bad he has to work alongside her. read more

Brisket Baked Beans in the food service deli, are fabulous. A go to - if you want a flavorful - brisket chewy snack, or a Wonderful Smokey, just the right thickness side dish - these Brisket Baked Beans Deliver!! I eat them cold, room temp., warmed up, they are The good comfort food! Sometimes I have to wait for deli service personal available, but I always ask for someone in the end. They don't have a line of customers at the service deli, I don't know why? The prices are the highest in town and their customer service is terrible sometimes. I like Maria, she is very nice, but she talks too much to the customers when she has a long line. Recently, I had tried to checkout and a young white male cashier refused to help me because he was closing down his register. He should have rung me up, but he wouldn't! My favorite place to shop groceries in Davis. Friendly, organized and well stocked this place is great for nearly all my grocery needs. I started shopping here because it's convenient but everything is also well priced and their sales and coupons make things very affordable. Well-stocked store and clean store. I stopped in yesterday for some produce and to drop off an Amazon return (new feature at their store). The African American woman at the check out is very brusque and seems put out by anything extra she might have to do for a customer. We needed assistance at the self-checkout, which often happens as they are very sensitive. She was not kind about it at all. Seemed like we had inconvenienced her. Went in this morning to get fried chicken for lunch. The older lady behind the counter was very rude. The antiquated open refrigeration shelves have been replaced by sleek new cases with doors in a recent remodeling completed the past couple months. Not only do they look more attractive, they are more energy efficient too I bet. The dark laminate flooring is also new. Sushi is added to the deli section. Transparent partitions are placed between self checkout registers. This is not my go to everyday grocery store but it is still very nice to see improvements in a local business. read more

Coffee is meh..... I ordered a philtered soul this morning. Waiting in my coffee and the (baristas) did more chatting than working . That is not the big issue at all 1 of the 3 baristas working had on gloves.....the other 2 did not . On of them touched her face 6 times! (Nose, hair. Mouth, eyes .....yuck!! I've never been to any other Save Marts, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems like a normal small grocery store. I assumed they'd have great prices, based on their name, but that isn't the case. I found that their prices were a bit high on some items and I was probably spending $0.25-0.70 more on each item than at my local Safeway. I know they have an app, and I did download it when my cashier told me to, but it didn't work well and I gave up. They did not need me to sign up for a membership to get their discounts (+1 point). Their meat and bakery departments are lacking. The bakery department, and cake area, looks sad to be honest. Everything looks old or dry. I bought a loaf of sour dough bread (a round loaf) and was fairly disappointed. It tasted stale even though the expiration date was further away - obviously not made in the bakery! The meat department was decent, visually, but didn't have anything I wanted. I was looking for pork ribs (to bbq) and thin beef, didn't have either. I found that their produce area was meh, but not terrible. A bit overpriced but most items looked good, with a few overripe items here and there - broccoli, kiwis, grapes, and a few leafy items looked older for example. Some overpriced items included peppers for $2.3 EACH?! What?? They had some beautiful looking bok choy, but I didn't want to pay $3/lb for it. I think you can find pretty much everything you'd need from their milk/dairy and deli areas. They have a decent freezer and shelf area too. Don't expect many choices for: alcohol (wine), home items, pharmacy / medicine, meats, or breads. I've only dealt with the cashiers, one bagger, and one butcher / meat person and everyone was pleasant. I had a really bad experience with an African-American cashier serving with a bad attitude. I only needed/asked one help/question in the self service cashier. I went in day after sale began for celery (2 bunches for $5). All gone. Ok, so things happen. But it was real hard to get an employee to tell me that they didn't have celery refrigerated in the back. She was the cashier--and not busy at all...but ok, people wake up on the wrong side of the bed. YET the overarching problem is the bleakness that hangs in the air. I shop at another discount store: Grocery Outlet--- & it would seem it and Save Mart would have the same atmosphere. No. Not the case at all. Save Mart employees seem UNhappy, even beat down. Thus to help a customer takes too much time, too much energy. To be honest, I only came here because they sent some awesome coupons to my house (free rotisserie chicken, free 24-pack of water, free carton of eggs, $10 off $50). Obviously, I couldn't resist that sort of marketing. It didn't seem particularly different/unique from most other large grocery stores. Pretty basic stuff. I saw a couple items that were cheaper than anywhere else (a chunk of raw, seasoned salmon for $2.00+ as well as packaged cold cuts at $1.99). When checking out, I received another coupon for $10 off so kudos for their discounts. Oh, their employees go above and beyond! Super friendly cashiers. I love this location!! I've gotten to know most of the people who work there cause we live close by plus hubs has been going here for the last 8+ years.. They're super friendly (minus 1 or 2 ppl), helpful and knowledgeable on their product.. It's always clean and has a great selection of items.. We go there almost every day to buy something for dinner to cook.. We buy as we cook each meal.. They always have killer deals going there, like the buy one get one free deals with certain items or the buy 5 for $25 for meats.. When I'm looking for something I can't find, they go and help me.. They have 5 self checkouts if you don't want to wait in line.. Prices here I find cheaper then safeway, so I really get my money's worth here.. There's days they will do sampling in the bakery/ deli area to show off some of the things they offer there.. They also offer carry out service to woman and to seniors to help them out.. read more

It could have been five stars but four it is. People at the store are friendly but-- when approached by me asking where this specific item was. They ignored me at first and I had to tap their shoulder and ask again on my phone "where is ****, I can't seem to find it" they proceed to talk to me and I am deaf I can't hear them talking so I pointed to my phone and they just pointed to next aisle and left. So much for being deaf and this is challenging. However the place is clean and has a lot of sale going on. Will come back again and do the navigating myself. read more

So I've been coming to this Savemart for several years, and have always appreciated the selection and how sweet the staff are, but today just went to a whole new level! The deli guy who was working the fryers today, Darien, was not only so kind to talk to, but he's also a fried chicken master. This is the juiciest, most well-seasoned fried chicken I've had in years and years, and I'm totally in shock because this is really elevated. The coating is perfectly crisp and you can taste the multiple spices, and the meat is cooked through but the complete opposite of dry. Darien has the gift of chicken, and that really isn't easy considering I know it's like 100+ degrees working the fryer for hours, but wow, super kudos to this guy for bringing me out of a huge slump today. I've only gone into this Save Mart a handful of times and when I have, they are always out of stock of sale items and/or promotional offers. Also, there is a lack of friendly customer service, especially one of the older male cashiers as I've noticed on my last couple visits that he always appears annoyed if any assistance is asked of him. He leaves a negative impression and will likely not return due to poor customer service and probably lack of proper management. I'll stick with shopping at Trader Joe's or Safeway. read more

It's a good place if you need to lower a grocery bill. This place is always clean and employees are fairly nice. There's normally not enough cashiers there, lines do get pretty long (I usually just to self check-out unless I have too many veggies to weigh). My favorite is when they have the 5 for $5 each sale on meats, usually saves me at least $15 on meats for a while (just put some in the freezer). One thing interesting is that they have older vegetables on discounted prices, not the best looking but good for same day use. I typically find prices here cheaper than Safeway but occasionally it's vice versa. Final Thoughts: Good sales, normal everything, typical grocery store. read more

This place is not a nice place. You walk in to dirty white floors greeting you at both entrances. The layout is very confusing, and the signs don't even match at the ends of the aisles. The produce section is kinda dirty, just sweep it ffs. Oh and the workers always seem checked out of life. I am always a fan of Save Marts. The cashiers seem to already know me, which may or may not be a good thing. You can get all your basic essentials for good prices. I love their chocolate chip cookies and fresh deli meats. Always use the self-checkout whenever you can, usually the very fast way to get out. For a relatively small store it sure has a great selection of items. It is out of the way for me but I find myself going there when I can not find specific items at my regular supermarket. There they are right on Save Mart's shelves and good prices to boot. There are usually not enough live check-out people so I end up using the self-checkout which invariably requires someone to come over to clear the system for some problem or other (not my doing) So, it ends up requiring just as much staff time as having a person on a regular check stand. read more

This is a review of the bakery department. I needed a cake for my nephews birthday and it was super last minute. I came in mid-afternoon on a Thursday, and walked out with a 2 tier multi-colored cake with buttercream frosting on a Saturday morning. Ask for Kat! She's the head of the bakery department.
