Well, I guess Nevada Energy should change their name to just "Nevada Electric" as they seem to not give a damn about their natural gas customers. I am having some kind of issue with my gas usage-after nearly 4 years in our new house with no changes, the usage has jumped 4 fold in the past 2 months. I called into Nevada Electric's help line and might as well have been calling the local butcher for all the help I received. The rep was clueless and only wanted to talk about their electric program-just left me out here in the wasteland without a lifeline. Not much help when my issue is natural gas. You'd never know they actually supplied the product the way they act. All this nonsense about how they want to save you money on electric/do a survey on electric usage/get a smart thermostat apparently doesn't migrate over to the natural gas side of things. Flex pay is a great option, unless you like to monitor your usage and only deposit a little at a time. Apparently, you are only allowed to give this business your money a few times a month, and then you can no longer pay online. You have to drive to a location with a kiosk to deposit money. This is, hands down, the dumbest policy I have ever heard. Why would a company want to make it difficult for you to give them money?!? Absolutely ridiculous. You know who doesn't make me drive to a location to give them money? The solar panel people that knock on my door all week. Maybe it's time to make the switch. Garbage. They blatantly lied about applying a $50 credit to my account after they sent a letter stating they are doing it for all their customers. When I inquired about it, they laughed at me and said no such offer was made. It's in writing. Their employees are highly unprofessional and unqualified. Let me begin by saying an exercise in futilely to rate a utility company as you don't really have a choice of who supplies your gas and electric. This reviews is just a chance to vent. We moved to Nevada at the end of December and I set up the utilities along with auto pay for each. January comes and goes with no billing problem. February, I get a threatening letter stating I have 10 days to pay or service will be cut off. I login to my account and it says $0 due. I'm confused to say the least. So I call and am connected to a condescending twerp that informs me in an accusatory tone that I neglected to mark a box that states I want to pay for February ( who sets up auto pay but doesn't want it to start immediately??) Then when the issue is settled I ask for reassurance that going forward payments will be deducted and he chuckles and says as long as money is in the account. If I could give this company zero stars I would, I have a notice that I owe an amount due by the 25th and says service can be terminated soon. The system in place makes it very hard for you to pay your bill. I used the chat option after trying to pay online, both didn't work, so I try the 24/hour phone line which is automated, has you put in your account number which is a million numbers long, among other numbers for other information and it always read the numbers back to me wrong so for many parts I had to re-enter, I could see it was wrong because the numbers I chose were on my phone screen. After 10 minutes of prompts I was finally able to put in my card number (for the 2nd time) and it declined, I have money in my account and it still has not declined anywhere else. For the love of God I just want to pay my bill so I can move on with life! read more

I made the mistake of taking flex pay. not realizing that you are continually adding money. 2 days ago before it was due I paid 119.00 which was the total amount. on 28 My electricity was cut off for $1. 74 What I don't understand is why they give you a bill for 119. if it is not the full amount. I just got rid of FLEX PAY because this is the worst option. BEWARE!!!!!. If I didn't live in an apartment I would definitely go to SOLAR this is the worst electric company I have ever had. So I read about the equal payments plan I called in and I spoke with the gentleman named Jay. Thank you so very much, Jay for thoroughly explaining that program to me. I'm not exactly sure how my bill can go from 40.00 to 154.00 I live in a small apartment. My bill has gone up every month. I do not use my heater or light anymore than I have previous months. But some how my bill goes up almost 20-30 dollars a month. I've never paid this much for electricity in my life. And no matter how I try to use less energy it goes up every month.. Something is very wrong with this company. My sister lives in a 5 bedroom house with five kids and they leave there stuff on all day and we are paying close to the same prices. The worst customer service. I have solar and I received a bill for $1200. This has happened twice in six months. The first time they came and changed the meter and the next bill was $13 . They said nothing was wrong with the meter, so I let it go. Now I have called them three times to get the meter changed out and still hasn't been done , yet they want me to pay them. We were trying to transfer service and got that schedule which was great. After that we still needed to put money in for our flex pay so we have air while we move. It wouldn't not allow us to make payment online so it told us to call. We spoke to a representative that told us we have to pay a payment through another way. I don't understand why we couldn't do it over the phone. She was also very rude when we were asking questions. The place the lady told us to go to doesn't even do payments for nv energy. I only have 2 days left of flex pay and I need to pay it or my animals are going to die. One of my animals is esa and idk what I would do if something happened to him. Update: found another place to make payment but I had to take 2 Ubers that cost in total $60. I could have saved that for food that I needed for my son. At least there is air in my house. Customer service sucks. They need people to be trained and need to go through courses to learn how to talk on the phone with the ability to not give attitude. Customer service reps are friendly they just can't give complete info / confirmation on time frames. We had an incident at our office where a truck ripped the meter off our building leaving us with no power. Mind you it's the middle of July and 115 outside. I called right away, they came quick to disconnect the power so we could get our electrician out to repair and get our city final. When i called the next to get the power reconnected they told me next available was day after i called. they did not show to turn power back on and when i called back to find out what happened they told me it could take up to 10 days to get someone out there. I'm not sure how they can leave an essential active business without power in the middle of summer for 10 days. They certainly have no issue charging the $400 fee and not delivering. seems they need a better process to accommodate since they are the only power company in the valley. Called to report graffiti on three separate NV Energy boxes. I was able to leave a voicemail on the NV Energy graffiti hotline. Fast forward five months and the boxes have still not been repaired. Property values depreciate as a result of graffiti and NV Energy does not care. I tried calling the customer service line and they won't do anything. They say graffiti must be reported through the hotline that no one answers or pays attention to. The neighborhood is just expected to live with vandalism I suppose. Thinking about getting solar? Don't. We have had solar panels installed and it has been months and they still are not active. We're once again waiting for an inspector and still nothing. Paperless statements are inaccurate and the website is irritating to navigate- one step to recall password, another to recall username, repeated login errors, not saving changes to the account, etc. But then they disconnect your service even though your account is listed as ACTIVE and in good standing. EDIT: Electric service resumed within half an hour of me raising hell over an ERROR, which tells me they're more than capable of communicating with me about this appropriately. so I enroll in auto payments, but the payments never come out then they want to hit you with a 300$ bill suddenly for late payments when I enrolled in auto. They charge ridiculous amount of money and expect you to pay auto but then their auto system suck so bad nothing never comes out of your bank account, then hit you with more money to pay. They legit only care about money. I have never dealt with such an impatient power company with crappy services and bank set up in my life. Please fix your auto payment services so people don't have to stress and pay extra fees for stuff that's your fault. I've lived here for two decades, back when this company was called Nevada Power. It's a tragedy that the company is legally allowed price hikes about 4x a year, which is pretty sad for the customers. Who are the customers? Everyone who lives here that is NOT homeless, business owners, homeowners and renters- in other words, all the people who pay bills. Now though, we are being "too energy-efficient", but here's the twisted way of giving us a reward, by taxing us an additional payment. See what I mean? There's been a new reader that the company is installing in some areas, that is supposed to be more accurate, but I guess that is up for debate. We're all stuck with this company- the ones who aren't homeless, anyway. If you don't pay online or use your Bill Pay service with your bank or credit union, you can also pay your bills at various other places like Albertson's customer service desk or casinos like Palace Station. You will need your paper bill to do this, though. Even a copy of an old one will do. You can also use this location for payments at the 'Drive-Thru" windows, however, sometimes it's really busy, if you are planning to visit around your lunch time; I'd advise a day when you do all your errands. Yes, I've been here, so I know. The parking lot is usually packed, for those of you who prefer to speak to someone face to face. Yes, the company does participate in community events like the annual SOS drive (supply our students) sponsored alongside Fox 5 News and McDonald's, but it doesn't excuse the fact that they still can raise the rates on us 4x a year. When more companies participated in the Corporate Challenge events, a few years ago, this company dominated in co-ed softball for their recruitment process (hiring some very good players from UNLV). I have been calling NV Energy 702-402-1000 and no body answers. Called at least 20x in the last month for the same issue that nobody has resolved. Our accounts are going to be turned off because we can't take care of the problem. I prefer to hold on the line because no one calls back when you request a call back, and usually around 14-15 mins, i am forced to leave a VM. The wait time is 26-36 minutes but the call cuts off at 14 mins. WTH. read more

I give thousands of dollars to NV Energy. Do you think I know what those thousands of dollars go towards? I do not. And most likely neither do you. When I wrote my first review here, I was contacted by NV Energy (as you can see here) and I actually felt taken care of for the first time by this company after that. I thought maybe they cared. I had a person they assigned to me (Maria), and she was great. At first. 3 years ago we left for Jamaica for 2 weeks. We set our thermostat to "away". You would think our bill would have been less for not using the AC for over 2 weeks in the summer. It was not. Well, Maria was helping me "get to the bottom of it". She told me I would have a 20% discount on my bill as well. Both never happened. In fact, she strung me along for months and months, and finally she just stopped returning my emails and calls. So 3 years later, I still do not have a discount for my troubles, nor do I know why my bill did not decrease with 2 weeks of non AC use during the summer. Fast forward to now. Took a week away to Cancun. AC was not turned on once for 8 days. But when I review my online account, it does not show any savings or drops in the graph. I called/emailed support and they said that my AC was indeed off for a week and my web portal reflects that. I am not seeing that, but ok. What can I do. They mentioned having someone out to see where/how I can "save energy". Well, THREE TIMES they gave me dates to have that person out to the home. And each time, when I agreed to a date/time, I received the same email back. "We are sorry, those dates have filled up". It was feeling like a run around. They finally said they could schedule me for end of July. Huh? I passed. Another issue is the free thermostat they give. When they do the "events" I constantly have to opt out because they cool your house before the event happens. Well, they cool my house more than I ever would myself. I am certain the free thermostat is costing me more than if I did not have it. We try to use the AC as little as possible. So I continue to throw money at NV Energy without any understanding of what I am actually spending money on, and why. I know it's on electricity obviously... Lame. read more
