Worst company ever!!! They advertise an energy serving program with a new thermostat that switched your ac to heat in the middle of the night TWICE in the Las Vegas summer. Thank you NV ENERGY FOR HELPING MY HOUSE TURN INTO 105 degrees just like outside. Probably a scam so the can make more money. Now will vote yes on question 3 simply due to them just being scam artists and us Nevadans not have any other option besides getting robbed by you! Today I received a call from NV ENERGY, so I thought they learned about customer service but they were only inquiring how their box would be returned. (Even tho I had already advised the previous person by mail) so once again NV ENERGY does not care about the costumers since I am yet to receive a simple explanation or even apology for their energy saving scam that they are running. I guess it's easy to treat costumers like shit when they have no other option. The rate increases are high. When you're on a fixed income and are already on the flex plan it's hard to make payments. Then you add all the other rate hikes and utilities, gasoline, groceries, medical bills etc. it's more than one can afford. They say that the reason for the rate increase is the cost of natural gas. Update - after I called at 5:20 am to complain this morning they sent someone out and our power came back on just in time for us to leave for work. We all got dressed in the dark, and it was picture day at school for our daughter, but at least it all worked out. I even got a phone call from NV Energy to let us know the power was back on. I called at 12:25 am to report a power outage on my street. Then I drove around the neighborhood to see how many other houses had power out. My report never showed up on the power outage map. But I called again at 12:30 to report there was a power line down on the street next to ours. The estimated time for power back on was 3:15 am. At 5:30 am we still have no power and the power map still doesn't show my report on the outage map but it shows someone else reported power out on the street next to ours at 4:45 am with an estimated time of repair of now 7:30 am. So what happened to my report at 12:25 am and why wasn't our outage fixed first?? I have an infant and a freezer full of breast milk that is going bad. And now I can't open to garage to get to work. I've had the energy thermostat for over 15 years not seen a difference in bill. I had a contractor take out my sliding glass door and put in a wall and steel door and it seems my electric went up even tho I turned up my thermostat 3-5 degrees. Not worth having the thermostat read more

Do not accept the offer for their Smart Thermostat!!! The day I got mine installed, my usage went from an average of 7kWh a day to over 40! My monthly bill also increased by 300 dollars after it was installed. Seriously...don't do it. They claim you can control the temperature, but they will constantly change it throughout the day. I wish I could give it zero stars. I wish there was an alternative company I could send you to. One of the previous reviewers is right equal pay is a scam. Whats worse is that when you do cancel your service they hit you with a huge bill and require that you pay within 15 days or face being sent to collections immediately. There is no working out a payment plan. I had been a customer for 8 years. I always pay my bills on time. Never missed a payment. This is how our loyalty is rewarded. Nevada Energy doesn't care about its customers nor the current economic environment we are in. People are struggling to make ends meet and they could not give a damn. NV energy smart thermostat program is terrible. You are giving them complete control of your HVAC system, which is not good. If you override a setting they just put it back in short order. We had one for 2 years+ and hated the darn thing. Get you own smart thermostat and stay in control. They are very inexpensive now. Do not make the same mistake we made. NV Energy loves to charge more and more. They also love sending you regular emails showing you how much they are overcharging you when compared with last year. They pretend inflation is causing rates to *double* from the previous year. Then they waste money on dumb projects they constantly advertise that have no value, which can only be paid for when customers are overcharged. Thanks for overcharging local community members who work hard for a living. I'm sure the "power saving power strip" you guys are offering will offset the *extra* $1600 I can expect to pay this year. I applied for the low income expanded solar program and was accepted. Upon receiving the acceptance email I saw that it had my wrong service address on it. It was the extra meter that is connected to an rv, not my house. Called immediately and they couldn't figure out how to fix it. Said to maybe wait a little while after the program gets rolled out and try again. I emailed the program immediately also and got no response. Fast forward a month later and I got my next bill. Discount is going to my rv and not my house where I need it. Called again. Nothing they can do. Gave me a supervisor. Only solution offered was to apply again next year. Needless to say I'm pretty disgusted. Real money being lost by me. Seems hard to believe they can't just click it over to the house meter. read more

My issues with NV Energy are related to their new estimates on bills and digital vs analog meter reading. In the past I have had few issues with NV Energy but nothing like in the last 6 months, it has been terrible. If you are new to the area (esp. new builds) look on your bill b/c you will see a very small E next to the reads on your bill. The most frustrating part is that for 5 months, no one told me this then when I did find out, I was tacked with a $421 bill on top of the original estimate amounts I thought i was just paying per month. Needless to say, it has been a terrible experience and up until the last two phone calls I've had, NV Energy acted like they could care less. Be aware of your bill, and question everything they put on it!!!!! Get answers right away. Ask to speak to supervisors!! If all else fails file a nasty yelp review and BBB REVIEW!! It wasn't until I did this that I got dome attention. Their billing snd meter read practices are very bush league and not accurate nor appropriate so be aware of your monthly bill!! read more

My power was disconnected at 8am while working from home. I made a payment via the online portal then called and spoke with a nice young lady who not only told me my payment was received but that I was in the que to get my power restored shortly. It's now 7:30 pm and still no power. I've called 8 times and I either get hung up on or transferred back to the main menu. Listen, I know the disconnection was my fault but I paid to get it restored. It's cold and I have two small kids with a fridge full of food. All I want is an update. What's going on? Why display you have a 24 hour customer service line but you can't get through to anyone? Make it make sense. Oh and for NV Energy representative that's going to read this, please spare me the template you're going to use to respond to this telling me you apologize and to email socialmedia@ NV energy blah, blah, blah. I was at work (this is for my business) and I got a call saying they were going to disconnect my service in 30 minutes. So while I'm waiting to speak to a representative I go online and pay my balance. Which wasnt even overdue - it was due March 1 so it was still a week away. Paid it online anyways. Then I spoke to someone saying that they needed to give me another number because their system said they were still going to cut it off even though I had paid it. I call this number and the guy on the phone already had an attitude and said because the website takes several days to process payment they were going to cut it off anyways BUT if I wanted to head on over to Reno, NV to pay in person..even though his dumb ass just recited my address as it being in Las Vegas. So I asked him how he expected me to drive to Reno to make ANOTHER payment. So I just said alright then, cut it off. After all that was said and done my power and service didnt get cut off. So I dont know if they just wanted me to pay twice or if this was a scam. read more

I'm a die hard capitalist and business owner, so I don't usually say this, but I wish the government would just take them over and run the energy company directly. It couldn't be any worse! Even the DMV is far better. They will take 2 months to activate your solar, just so they can make a few extra bucks. Then they refuse to come energize our power after a panel upgrade and claim they "can't do it," even though our electricians say they do this all of the time. They literally fix power outages in the middle of the night - like on Monday - and try to claim they can't come out at 6 pm to turn on power? Making us wait until the next day as our fridges and freezer go warm, nothing to do, no power. I hate this company with a fiery passion and truly wish them the worst. So I'm mostly echoing sentiments previously expressed. I attempted to set up service when I move to Nevada. I signed up for a call back. Several things happened after this, but that call back came two days later. In the interim, I tried to start service online. I was told to call the number. I called again and decided to wait for a response. I got transferred-after 45 minutes-to a message that said, in effect, "Wait times are too long so we're hanging up on you" and then was disconnected from the call. For the last week, service has been intermittently and partially failing on one of my circuits. Today, that service went out entirely. I contacted an electrician-because my experience with NV energy has yet to be in ANY WAY positive-who told me the problem is on NV Energy's end. I tried to report the outage, got kicked to an automated reporting system which told me to do a series of things I've already done-resent the breakers and GFCI outlets-then finally let me report. In short, NV Energy is probably the best example of why monopolies are a terrible thing. They charge ridiculous rates for unreliable service and go out of their way to make things difficult for customers. I will be installing solar in an attempt to get off this ridiculous, unprofessional company's grid as much as possible as soon as possible. UPDATE: The automated system failed to log my report of outage. I know this because I called back an hour later to check and was told by the same automated system there was no report of an outage for my address. I got back into the customer service que and-minor miracle-someone answered in less than 10 minutes. Denise did okay with the call, but said the NV Energy system showed I was receiving full power. I had to call the electrician back-who was an absolute trooper through this whole ordeal-so I could sort out a time for NV Energy to open their half of my electrical box and the electrician-who I will have to hire-can diagnose the problem. Opening the meter will wind up costing me $60, plus whatever the electrician is going to charge. I want to repeat that: NV energy is making me hire an electrician to diagnose a malfunction in their equipment, and are charging me $60 for the privilege. This just to diagnose the problem. Moreover, this will not occur until Monday. The response on Yelp is nice, but this is information that people considering a move to Nevada to make an informed decision. read more

Just got my solar panels installed. NV Energy DID NOT approve the panel installation and said my kw output was too large. WHAT? I should be able to take as much energy from the sun as I'd like. I'm on Flex Pay and it's a complete ripoff! I have paid 1 have an outstanding balance of $125 and what they do is only apply 25%to your balance and keep the rest to keep you paying more than you actually owe. This is fraud by a long shot. Horrible company. I would leave 0 stars if I could. We have had service for over 5 years....paid on time with no issues. Ran into some financial difficulties the last 2 month...still paid, but since they take 3-4 days to pull the money out of the bank account and other things auto come out, the last 2 payments came back and the first one was promptly paid again on payday. The last one payday was the day after tomorrow...and they SHUT OFF OUR POWER today with NO NOTICE. Called and was told too bad....make a payment or no power. had to borrow money until payday in order to get the power back on for my husband, pets and kids. The manager was an uncaring smug b*** who spent more time focusing on my gender and name change than the fact that they abruptly cut off our power. Although embarrassing, I was not able to pay my electric bill on the due date (4th) because I had to pay for necessary college classes, rent, and groceries for the week. Mirna, from billing was not able to help me in getting the bill due date to the 6th until I had asked to speak with her supervisor. Once that was done, my bill was pushed back two more days. She seemed rather miffed by my request and I understand she was doing her job. I hate having to ask for anyone above the person I'm talking to unless it's an absolute emergency. NV ENERGY are so outrageous with the amounts they charge for energy. Even with our entire roof filled with solar panels paying close to $300 just for the solar panels, providing that energy to NV energy, they still sends us a bill of $200. So outrageous. The state needs to start regulating them because pretty soon people will not be able to afford electricity. read more

The ability of Richard to speak in sentences, provide accurate information, or keep up with a conversation was completely lacking. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he refused to allow that. So I decided to take matters into my own hands. Found the tech I missed Ryan, from SCOPE. He finished his install and came back to my house where he promptly installed my new thermostat. He was fast, knowledgeable, friendly, and took the time to clearly explain how the system worked. NVEnergy is fortunate that SCOPE has hired such a person to do their installs because dealing with him makes them look like they know something about customer service. read more

I wish I could give this company a zero star rating. I had a couple months of insane power bills in the summer, one resulting in over $1000 for just one month. I wanted to split the payment into a couple of months because I felt it was an insane amount to pay for power, they were nice, and set me up w anarrangement, however, did not tell me they were going to be adding a $500 deposit to my account as a courtesy on their end. Thank you, that is terrible customer service. I get that it is your policy, but you really need to inform them so that they just pay their $1000 power bill before they get the deposit automatically applied. read more

I have solar panels and needed to understand time of use (TOU) billing, versus residential service (RS) billing. I, also, needed to understand if I was grandfathered in, at a one to one rate for net metering, or if I needed to change to the new net meter reading ...NMR-405. On Sunday 11/12 around noon I called and Aubrey was wonderful enough to break down the net metering programs (luckily I am grandfathered in at a 1-1 rate) and every single item on my bill. The reason this didn't get five stars is there is no key on the bill explaining what each billing item stands for. For example SUMD or SUMR or as SOTE. If this was on the bill or even easily found online at the Nevada energy website, people with initiative, could figure everything out themselves. Aubrey helped me find the billing breakdown for SUMR, SUMD, etc.... on a brochure, under "about NV Energy", "rates and Regulatory", clicked on the correct "bill insert rate schedule" for my area. Another unfortunate thing, is there's no way to see the amount of solar energy my solar panels provide on The Nevada energy bill. Homes have two separate meters one for solar and one for NV Energy....and the only thing I can see on my bill is how many kilowatt hours were sent to NV energy because I didn't use them in real time. All kilowatt hours that were used in real-time are not kept track of on my NV energy bill as far as I can tell. If the goal is to help people not understand their bill and how solar power helps their bill, Nevada energy achieves that. Four stars were for the help I was provided on the phone from Aubrey. Please.......NV energy, you really should add a sample bill with each type of billing, for example TOU and RS with the math done on it so we can understand our bills and not have to call you or click 30 tabs for the correct information. You should also provide a key for every acronym you put on a person's bill, on the bill!!!! You should count yourself lucky that Aubrey works for you and is a very smart young lady. read more

There is no customer service representative here. I repeat, there is no customer service representative here. So if you need to dispute any bills take it to the North Las Vegas billing office. An open letter to Warren Buffet, Berkshire Hathaway, and the 'Powers-that-Be' at NV Energy. Dear Mr. Buffet, I have to say, that though I am foursquare and full tilt for Capitalism (notice the Capital C), I am not very enamored in the way by which many of your companies are deriving their profits. NV Energy being one of the most eggregious examples. This organization not only monopolizes the Energy market in Clark County, they actively engage in market stategies that smack of cronyism, misinformation, and slander. I, for one, would like to be like you, having the power to be as self-determined and self sufficient as possible. Yet, when I try to do something as simple as control my own power bill, I am met with extreme resistence. Not only is there no choice available to me, but the choices that make the most sense in Nevada (think SOLAR) are beset with resistance by the 'Big Bully on the block' NV Energy. I.E. NV Energy actively engages in an information propoganda war against what is the best source of energy for a Clark County citizen. But, solar is not on the NV Energy agenda, so is not given to me as a choice. And the Information is manipulated to such an extreme I can only think of War Propaganda as the closest parallel. As for the service with this particular branch, I can say there are so many layers of buffer zone, that it isn't easy airing grievances. The paperless system is still a bit innaccurate on occasion. And the people are like any at such a huge corporation, some good, some not so good. Can you please release your grip on my choices and allow for Fair market choices? I know, it would decrease the portfoilos of your shareholders by a few cents a quarter, but it is actually worth that amount to the environment and to the people in the state of Nevada.
