I have always had wonderful service here! My favorite spot in Portland. Definitely call ahead and make an appointment. Bring cash if you can. Ann has given me my favorite dip sets when it comes to the shape, quality, and design. Michele also gave me a great set once, very kind, great conversation. The gentleman there (i cannot remember his name) is a gracious and sweet father supporting his family. The place is clean! Wonderful customer service, conversation, professionalism, kindness, and truly quality work. They are dedicated to what they do and damn good at it. The only struggle is punctuality. I have been here three times now...shame on me for giving them a second, second chance. I initially came here for a dip manicure on the recommendation of a coworker. I didn't love the dip, and the manicure was minimal aside from the polish, but I decided to go back to try this place for my usual shellac. Me not liking dip wasn't necessarily their fault. My shellac manicure didn't hold up as well as other salons, and I felt the nail care part of the manicure was again very minimal. So I didn't come back here for months, but then today I wanted a last minute shellac manicure and they said they could do it. My nails are not very long to begin with, and I clearly said I wanted a little trim and I wanted a square shape with rounded corners, which is exactly the shape they already were. Next thing I know, the manicurist is chopping off the sides of my nails and I wound up with a beautiful oval shaped nail. Except, I didn't want oval nails! I looked at my one hand and calmly explained this isn't what I wanted. She apologized and told me I should have told her. I reminded her that I did. She filed down some of the oval shape, but by now my nails were almost to the quick on some fingers and some weren't all that even. It's the closest I've ever been to asking for the nail file to do it myself. She kept trying to make it right, which is appreciated, but I just kept repeating "it is what it is, but this isn't what I wanted and it can't be fixed" and she just wouldn't quit. I just wanted to move on and not come back to this place again, lesson learned. Eventually she gets up and leaves me. Two other employees, I'm assuming the owners, came over to me separately and I explained what the issue was and that what is done is done and it's not what I wanted, but it's not the end of the world, I just wanted her to move on at this point. I never asked for someone else. One of them finished up the paint job. In my opinion, it was a little sloppy. I left with paint on my skin. When I checked out, I received a $10 gift card as an apology. This gesture is again appreciated. Upon receiving it, I said it was not necessary, partially because I won't use it because I will not be back. I went home and picked off the polish on my skin, refiled some nails, and some of my nails are a little tender on the sides where the manicurist chopped off the sides. Quick pro about this place, they have an amazing shellac polish selection. It truly is good, so I wanted to say that. The salon is clean and the prices are fair when the job is well done. read more

I'm updating my review to highlight the amazing work they do here with dip powder. Because of my naturally brittle nails I've never been able to grow them out very long. Before a trip this summer I decided to try dip polish, and can safely say it's my new favorite. Not sure the science behind it all but the powder creates a protective barrier on the nails, allowing them to grow without breaking. The color stays consistent and the manicures can last up to four weeks. Today I went in looking for something showstopping for an upcoming trip. I asked about chrome powder and Aaron did an incredible job. If you're after this look, definitely call ahead and let them know you want chrome because it takes a little bit longer than regular dip powder. If you're on the fence about dip powder I urge you to try it at NW Nails & Spa, you wont be disappointed! read more

Rude staff- have to sit and wait for and between services even with booked appointments. Wide variety of quality between techs. I was a regular here for many years due to a convenient location with hit and miss results in terms of quality of results. Lately their scheduling and service has become awful. They consistently overbook with scheduled appointments and the last time I had an appointment, they booked the same services with another girl (mani and pedi) only 15 minutes before which means I would have to wait until they were fully done with her before they could even start on my nails. That means that I would have been there for over 2 hours for just my regular nail service, being optimistic. I understand having to be flexible, especially during Covid, but when everyone has appointments, I am not understanding why there is a problem. read more

This is the second time that I got dip powder nails, the first time was in Chicago. It seems that this shop is one of the few in PDX that offer the service. It is kind of spendy, but I'm still curious. I haven't decided if I like it or not yet. This time I want to see if I can make it last 3-4 weeks. Last time I was curious so I picked at it. I gave this shop a 3.5ish star because I didn't really get a manicure. They didn't really trim my cuticles, just took off the old color and put on the new color, then peace. And because they had more people coming in they rushed me out, no hand massage, nothing. Didn't feel the love there. The shop is clean and looks updated. They even have pedicure chairs for kids. Don't give this place any business ever! I've been there once before David did a good job on my manicure but the pedicure was not up to par. I decided to only go there for my nails. I called and made an appointment and explained that I needed a dip removal. I was told to come in early. I arrived early and was left to sit without anyone starting my removal. I asked them when they would get started on my removal as I was told to come early and rec'd blank stares. I sat and waited for a few more minutes. Still no help. Finally I asked if anyone spoke English and a young lady helping someone next to me said "we told you to come in early to pick a color!" Really? That takes all of 30 seconds! She wasn't being truthful as that was NOT the discussion and reasoning when I booked the appt. She was very rude an unapologetic about making me wait. I walked out and won't go back there ever again. Update- I fully understood what was discussed on the phone - "come in early for your removal". If David was to do it they should not have told me to come in early! I think they got backed up and didn't have anyone to do it. You have the customers number, just call and let them know your running behind, no big deal. I used to love this salon so much, until I got my eyebrows waxed here. I noticed some tingling, which is typical with an eyebrow wax. I didn't notice until I got home that my skin was ripped off!
