Ugh. Service often makes or breaks a first time experience at a restaurant no matter how good the food. While I was trying to be graceful to our server who was obviously very inexperienced, unfortunately service mistakes kept happening to not notice and started to get a little annoying. We had a birthday party of 7 guests. It was dead when we walked in. She was the only server. We were told to use the next table as a gift table and later she loudly told us what "we have to do" to get all the gifts off that table as it wasn't hers anymore... after a second server came on board and it got busier. She didn't help or make that transition smooth as a more seasoned server could have. Ex: "Hey, I'm going to just move these over here, my co-worker needs the table." Apps were out before we had to ask for more than 3 app plates we had. Food was out before we had to ask for large dinner plates. Empty dishware was not being removed as emptied. Our table was getting full and piled high with dishware. It was a struggle to lay 3 pizzas out, 4 orders of wings and salads with all the app dishes not removed. I ordered a bottle of moscato. She delivered it, cap on and dropped it on the table like a beer served at a dive bar busy night. For this alcohol I asked for a separate bill from the host of the birthday party. It became gift opening time and our table was full still... she had dropped checks off for the host and myself. I'm sorry, that is my biggest pet peeve. Do not drop a check when I have 3 dirty plates in front of me. I asked her to clear them, all the while being perturbed that we obviously had gifts to open and what if we wanted dessert??? We didn't bring a birthday cake! She said she'd get to it. We all just passed all the plates and stuff onto the table next to us so we could continue our event there and have space to open gifts. Lo and behold she's interrupting to get the checks paid from the host of our party. Had no idea how to apply visa gift cards, but at least she finally asked how to do it. Literally clueless to the social clues of letting diners enjoy their event until the end. As for my alcohol check on the little clipboard, I guess I wasn't fast enough to pay, a second one was dropped in front of me while watching the birthday boy open his gifts! I couldn't believe it. I did want dessert. At this point I was just so over it and didn't order. Sad. Even the birthday boy mentioned after that was the worst service he had ever experienced. And he felt so robbed of his moment to enjoy his family. I hate to write this kind of review but it needs to be said. Miss B, please learn some tips about serving. Management, please pay attention and train staff with the basics. Her attitude was sweet, but she is in need of more training. Meanwhile... I don't barely recall the food with all the distractions. The honey BBQ wings were great. My bad for not reading margarita pizza was red sauce instead of garlic and oil base. I was there as the restaurant of choice for the birthday boy. Would I go again? I don't think so. Management should have been helping her or at least a bus person. This is no mom and pop place, it's corporate. We expected more. It's sad when you move out of an area, then come back & visit your old favs & realize they've changed & not what they used to be. That's what happened today. It was 12:15pm & they only had one guy working the counter, the phones & all the tables. He did great in spite of it aside from starting to take our order, then walking away in the middle of it & not coming back for 5 mins...but we get it...he was the only one there. Luckily it wasn't busy, and he was impressive how he balanced it all. We did feel bad for him. If management is gonna schedule a skeleton crew like that on a holiday, just better to close altogether. The food, for the most part was still good (Wings, zucchini, and while the salad was good - they always had the best salads), I made the mistake of paying $16+ for a buffalo chicken salad & while the greens, cheese & dressing were great, the chicken was cheap processed cube like with a buffalo sauce that did not taste at all like their delicious wing sauce, but a mostly vinegar, very plain sauce. Those chicken cubes pretty much ruined the whole thing, even though there was so little of the actual chicken. First salad I ever had at NYPD that wasn't great. Then as we used to do, we ordered zeppole to go. Those have gone down hill too. Used to be light, airy & melt in your mouth. Now it's chewy, cake like & just not what it used to be. She answered every question that my wife and I had asked ( And we asked a lot ) didn't rush us with our order , or make us feel like she had better things to do . Food , as usual is awesome . But for me , A great dining experience starts with the first person that you come in contact with , they set the dining mood to start , and that sets up the cooks too knock it outta the park with the food . What a terrible experience. I have been frequenting the McDowell and 7th Street location for years and the people and pizza have been great. I especially liked the Cauliflower crust pizza. I ordered two "cauliflower crust" pizzas and some wings via Uber Eats from this location. When it arrived we instantly noticed the crust did not look like or taste like the right crust. I called the store and argued with Isaiah for a long time and even went to the store with the bad pizzas. Bottom line is that NYPD pizza (at this location at least) changed the cauliflower crust to something doughy instead of thin and crispy. The line cook is the only one who owned up to the truth about the change. Isaiah just wanted to be right instead of helping a customer have a better experience. He could have simply said " we changed our supplier/recipe. Can we make something else for you?" I will never ever patronize this establishment and reconsider NYPD pizza downtown as well if these are corporate stores. UPDATE: Upper management actually did a real investigation of what happened and it was an honest mistake outside of the companies policies. I am really impressed with the level of customer service exhibited by upper management. read more

Don't let this review prevent you from trying this restaurant. It's usually very very good. This was just a one-off experience. I'm just sharing this experience, so that it doesn't happen to another customer. Ordered a create your own pizza and an additional pizza. My girlfriend went to pick them up. My pizza was made wrong. So they remade mine. But the one that they remade had at least a two and a half inch crust. It was like there was a myza just wrapped in a big ring of crust. It was also undercooked. Then after my remade pizza was finished, and they took it out of the oven, then they put my girlfriend's pizza and to heat up. So then my pizza started to get cold. I'm sure I will increase this to five stars after my next experience. read more

Very casual but nice looking establishment from what I could see. We just did a pick up and my partner went in as I stayed in the car. My partner loved his pizza. I don't remember which one he got... it had meatballs and ricotta on it. The only thing he was disappointed was the amount of meatballs on the pie was very little. The wings were good, but we ordered with a side of blue cheese, and instead we got ranch. We went here for a late lunch/early dinner so the place was not busy whatsoever. We had to wait to be seated by a totally uninterested server who needed to clean a booth for us. That was strike 1. We ordered a deep dish pizza and some fried zuccini. The zuccini was cut way too thick and we only got 7 pieces on a full order!!! Totally not worth it, so thats strike 2. The pizza came out and it was just like i always remembered. Very good!!! The whole time we sat there, i counted at least 5 dirty tables that needed cleaning. And whenever people came in, the waitress would make them wait for that!! Absolutely ridiculous!!! Our waitress just seemed like she didnt care about her job or her customers, with her unhurried sense of doing anything. Then she asked us if we wanted our bill, which we said yes. This took an additional 10 minutes for her to present it to us. Strike three!!! I tend to boycott any place that gets me this annoyed. I'm really disappointed in our experience. I like to spend my time and money on a place that cares 100% for its customers. There was only one person, a young guy, who seemed like he cared. Do better NYPD!! I don't know if they have a new chef but the last two visits I ordered $300 worth of pizza and wings and they didn't put the addition sauce I paid for on the wings (Hells Kitchen wings) they were undercooked with no flavor. I would like to update my review since after a year the new management did the right thing and reached back out! We gave NYPD togo a try and it was pretty tasty although again some dressings were not filled up all the way, seems like an ongoing issue after a year but we did enjoy the food. They were sadly out of ricotta so I couldn't try the calzone but we will be back and dine in next time. Our favorite was the wings again! Thanks Melissa. He was very helpful and recommended I order the Brooklyn package (8 large pizzas of our choice) for the number of people we had attending, for a party celebrating my son's baptism. Made my second trip to NYPD.I got the Chelsea Chopped Salad and instead of the dressing that comes with it I got their blue cheese. Wow. Very good. I will definitely be back to get another salad. NYPD Pizza is a Metro Phoenix local group of pizza restaurants. They differ from from the other groups of pizza restaurants because they have New York Type Water in their pizza dough. These restaurants are casual family friendly restaurants. They offer appetizers, salads, pastas, desserts and more. This location (Arrowhead Mall) has a bar and an outdoor patio. As we arrived we were quickly seated at a table. A friendly server took our order and about 30 minutes later our pizzas were served to us. I order a personal sized eight inch pizza that was topped with mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, garlic, tomatoes and seasoning and fresh basil. My pizza didn't have a crisp bottom but I can tell you the crust had a delicious taste that you wouldn't normally find from similar pizza places. I have to say my pizza was delicious. Every thing was tasty and my pizza was well seasoned. My husband also enjoyed his sausage pizza. We were checked on by much of the help and the manager during our stay. read more

The price and wings are the reason I gave it a 4 but the pizza is probably a 3. The crust had a great flavor but was a little spongy. The sauce and cheese were meh. Sauce especially was lacking.
