This is one of my favorite sushi spots in Atlanta. Go on a Monday or a Wednesday for their happy hour so you can try their rolls for half off. My favorite thing there is their Black Magic roll (not available for happy hour pricing). When my boyfriend and I go, we usually have to order a roll for each of us since we can't bear the thought of sharing it. My other favorites are their salmon and yellowtail appetizers because of the citrusy tang of the ponzu sauce against the tenderness of the salmon and the cleansing bite of the wasabi. The other appetizers of note are the ceviche tacos and the otoro spoons. I thoroughly enjoy my time when I'm here! I don't like the omakase as much as the one at Umi's, but that's not to say this one isn't good too! read more

If I could leave an even higher review, I would. I had the best birthday dinner of my life here. The manager Joe was on top of the reservation and he was just so kind. We had a 10 top table for two birthdays on a Monday night. It was perfect. I obviously had great company and friends. To note on the restaurant more -- the Server, bartender, everyone was just perfect. I've done years of work in hospitality, and the level of care and attention to detail is hard to even compare to other restaurants in Atlanta. And... I'm a frequent diner of restaurants in the city. The food was excellent, great service, and such affordable prices. I don't want to spoil any surprises for future patrons, but let me tell you, they surprised me with a real special gift at the end of our meal. 100/10. Excellent work. This location is such a big vibe, its dimly lit and the server is so attentive and offers alot of recommendations and very knowledgeable about the menu. I was taken care of by justin the server and he is fantastic. The fish is so incredibly fresh and the flavor profile is amazing. The freshness blended with the zingy profile was simply fantastic. Every single fish dish ive had has the softest and most flavorful ive had since japan. The presentation is beautiful and every single dish just melts away in your mouth. The spider roll was one of the best spiders ive ever had, the texture just melts away in my mouth. The mt fuji has a beautiful crunch but each and ever sushi has the most amazing blend upon each bite. This place is a bit more expensive but its honestly worth it 100%. The pork bun was great as well, the breading was nice and soft. I would highly recommend stopping by for some sushi here, it's absolutely worth every penny! The Basics: O-Ku is located on Howell Mill Road in the Westside Ironworks building. O-Ku is known for specialty, quality sushi. The restaurant has a main dining area downstairs and then has a patio upstairs, but the patio does not contain many tables. Things I like: The sushi here is great and I loved everything I ordered! I started with a Miso Soup and then ordered the Black Magic, Baja California, and Marilyn Mon Rolls. They were all great, but the Black Magic and Baja California were my favorites. We went during Happy Hour at O-Ku, which includes half off speciality rolls on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-7pm (this does not include the Black Magic roll). Happy Hour is an amazing deal and I'd highly suggest visiting during this window, if possible. Things I didn't like: The service here was fine, but not the best. I was hoping to get one of the matcha desserts when I visited, but our waitress automatically brought out our checks after we were done with our entrees and did not even ask if we wanted dessert. I think this is something that should always at least be addressed as an option by wait staff. Also, I thought the interior of this restaurant felt a little too dark. It was a beautiful, bright day outside and the interior felt too dark in comparison. But it was a beautiful space in general. A major problem at this location is parking. There are very few non-valet spots and even though I was able to snatch one of those, the line for valet was so long and winding through the whole parking lot that I couldn't get out of my spot for about ten minutes because of the line behind me. Overall, I very much enjoyed my experience at O-Ku. The sushi was of a high quality and the rolls are creative. I would certainly like to return to try some of the Nigiri and their Omakase experience. I would HIGHLY suggest taking advantage of happy hour here. The atmosphere and decor of this place is amazing. Its such a great date spot! For apps we got the chicken and pork dumplings and the crispy rice. The crispy rice was so beautifully plated and really tasty with lots of interesting texture, and good amount of spice. Definitely recommend trying this! I got the Mt. Fuji roll, which was super tasty, but little disappointed by the size. The rolls are definitely small compared to other sushi places I've been to around the area. Their drinks are also amazing. I got The Shogun, which was super refreshing. My friends got the Sugar + Spice, which was really unique. The parking lot is a bit small, and but they have free valet parking in the back. read more

The cocktails are well balanced and delicious. The ambiance is also nice. You can go for a date night, a hang out with friends, or head to their rooftop for their happy hour on Monday and Wednesday. I have to say it was the best sushi I've had in Atlanta. Deliciousness, from drinks to food. Modern atmosphere. Good service at the bar. All around a great impression my first go. We decided to go all-in, so we got the Chef's O-ku Omakase, which is $100 a person for a five course taste sampling of zensai, sashimi, yakimono, signature nigiri, and a dessert. I can't even tell you what everything was, but it was all pretty darn amazing. The freshness, the quality, the presentation were all spot on. Their spicy mayo was very good as well. I wasn't sure I was full, though, so we ordered a roll called the Black Widow, and this was the only disappointment of the night. It was just okay. It looked fantastic, but honestly it was just okay... The martinis were so good. I had the sugar and spice, which was composed of an habanero infused vodka, passion fruit, and lemon. The rim was set in sugar. It was a nice combo of spicy and sweet. It could have been a bit more spicy, but I liked it. I have now found my new favorite spot for sushi. How do you end up spending $97 including tip on what was suppose to be a quick sushi outing during their happy hour? Quite easily, three glasses of wine, ordering off the main menu instead of the happy hour menu and a side salad. There was two of us in our party, we had two of the Marilyn Mon rolls and something called a potato shrimp tempura roll the Marilyn's were part of the happy hour pricing, but of everything we ordered, it was the only thing discounted. The Marilyn had the thinnest slice of lemon on top of salmon crab salad cucumber and rice and was so go, we ordered a second one. The Potato shrimp was a softly fried and no where near as good as the Marilyn, but was still tasty if you're with someone who doesn't eat raw foods. The glasses of wine were $15 each and while I don't recall anything memorable about the names or taste, they went well with the rolls we ordered. Its kinda dark inside, but the place was packed shortly after 5pm when we arrived for out 5:15 reservation. Id rather come here for a date nite than a happy hour, but the service and atmosphere was everything. O-Ku is a favorite of mine. I love the ambiance, the service is always fab and the food is alwayssss fresh. You absolutely cannot visit O-Ku without starting with the hamachi Carpaccio. It would simply be a huge mistake. This ap is one of my favorite apps of all time. It's sliced yellowtail, a small sliver of serrano pepper and yuzu. So light, so fresh, so good! I also really love the box-style sushi. This is something you don't see commonly in Atlanta. The rolls (err... squares...? blocks? Whatever you would call an individual piece??) are enormous. Not exactly the daintiest thing to eat, but very delicious. Some of my other favorites are the Fantasteak roll (with grilled onion) and rock shrimp tempura. read more

O-Ku is one of my favorite sushi spots in all of Atlanta. Not only do they have an incredible sushi menu but they have elevated Japanese cuisine that will really blow your mind. I love that O-Ku is willing to push the boundaries in terms of traditional cuisine and brings in menu items that I have never tried before. Julian was our waiter and he did an amazing job guiding us through the menu and some of the most eats. I highly suggest you listen to your server as they know some of the daily catches the chefs have brought in and also know some of the secret menu items that people shy away from. I would trust their input as they have great knowledge on all of the sushi and entrées at the restaurant. We first started with the lobster temaki, otoro spoons and salmon uzuzukuri. All three appetizers were incredible especially the lobster temaki which was a butter poached lobster. The otoro spoons were topped with caviar and were incredible. It is something that I have never tried on my life and thanks for that the waiter suggested it. We tried three nigiri's the wagyu beef ,yellowfin tuna, and a special of the day. The wagyu beef is top quality as well as the yellow fin tuna. We ended with three sushi rolls the Mount Fuji, Black magic and soft shell crab roll. The black magic is a box style roll with black square in price. It looks crazy but it was the best roll by far. O-Ku also has a beautiful rooftop bar that we highly recommend you check out as it is a great place to grab drinks pre-or post dinner. My friend wanted to come here for happy hour. I had always passed by but never went in. The parking available is valet only, but the charge is based on tips. Located in midtown this place is really nice and frequented by a bunch of different customers we saw everyone from people on dates, business professionals, and even students. The ambience is very nice very cute for date night dimly lit real candles on the table. The bar area is amazing. And the wait staff is very professional and attentive. For my rolls I ordered the Baja California and a crunch roll both were very delicious but my friend said the Baja California roll had all the consistency and was just too hot and it needed a different ingredient. My friend got the new spider roll and the dragon roll and both were very good. No complaints. We had never been to the Atlanta O-Ku location, but had been to the Greenville, SC location. The atmosphere and EVERY plate that arrived at our table was beautiful, perfectly prepared, and delicious. We tried so many great dishes, but special shout outs for the Crispy Rice, Lobster Temaki, Hanetsuki Gyoza , and the Soft Shell Spider Sushi Rolls. All this would have made it a nice evening, but what made the experience the BEST, was our server Jackie. Food, Service, and Ambiance were exactly what I was looking for. Food: We went for happy hour. From the small plate selection, we got the rock shrimp tempura and salmon usuzukuri. We rounded it out with two rolls, Mt. Fiji and Shrimp Tempura. Everything was delicious! I don't eat raw fish (I know, I'm still a sushi novice) but my partner said the salmon usuzukuri was the bomb lol. I have an egg allergy and the staff took extra care to make sure that I didn't have any issues. Service: From the hostesses to the food runners, this staff is so nice. Our server, Cara was/is AMAZING! She is extremely friendly and attentive. Every time she left the table I made a comment about how nice she is. Thank you for making our time there special and extremely memorable. Ambiance: The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a cool rooftop. The vibe for happy hour was pretty relaxed. The music selection was nice and at a good volume. The dress code around that time varied. If you are ever confused about what to get, you can never go wrong with the Sake Misoyaki, Crispy Rice, and Lobster Temaki - sooo good My fiance and I were celebrating our Birthdays and Joe and Jazmine really made this birthday special for us. We were greeted by Joe, who is always super friendly and inviting. He also added beautiful flowers to the table due to the occasion.
