I know, I know.... People might be shocked to see that O'Malley's gets a five star rating from me. More on that later. O'Malley's is hard to categorize which I believe is the reason it is not carrying a higher Yelp rating. I would describe it as a "neighborhood bar located at ground zero of tourist central". Some would call it a dive bar, it isn't. I am a bit of a dive bar connoisseur and O'Malley's falls short or more accurately elevates above the standard of dive bar. Mostly for the lack of bar flys sitting at the counter at 11:00am. They have an amazing team, many who have worked here for years and are loved by SB locals. Duane and Katie are fabulous and today as I write this Haley is working! She just made me an amazing margarita. Now, why five stars? Because I come here so freakin' much. How could I ever knock off a star for a place I frequent many times in a month. SB falls short in the sports bar department and O'Malleys has TV's in abundance! Inside, on the patio and now out front on State Street. Whether you love football, Dodger games or European Soccer they have it on. If you are visiting SB you might have noticed it is not uncommon to pay $16 for a drink, not O'Malley's, I don't know how many times I got my bill and said "we ordered five drinks" and heard them respond "yes, they are all on there". As a tourist you might find O'Malley's to be a little unkept for the fancy SB vibe you are used to, but come back on your next visit, and then your next. I'm sure you will embrace it as I do.

The music/ dj is pretty good. My Paloma was good. The smug face of the bouncer was hilarious. Service was great at the bar. I would not eat here ever. No food.

Totally recommend this place if you're looking to post up at one place or if you're doing a pub crawl. Staff and ambiance are exceptional

There are limited beers on draft, but they do have a nice selection to choose from (tap, bottled, can). Smaller sized pub that welcomes dogs and people alike, super friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Sports playing. Biggest down side from my experience was; what I can only presume to be the bar owner's dog, urinating inside on the floor. The (presumed) owner of the dog (and bar) was oblivious/ignored it all. The bartender, when notified initially, ignored the wet floor when we called it out and dismissed it as a water leak. He later came out after the second report of wet floor, and mopped/sanitized the area where it was wet. Several people walked through the "wet spot" and went throughout the space. Whether it was dog urine or water, it is still a wet floor. Please note, I personally witnessed the dog actively urinating when she came over to me for attention because she wasn't getting it from her owner. Final opinion/review from me on this space is please go and support, the staff are attentive and do a great job, but also consider it is potentially may not be sanitary throughout.

As Usual, I ordered the BEST Hot Wings in the city and a few couples were staring as I take a bite out of these amazing wings. They ordered some as well. I know you guys have read my previous reviews of this place and decided to come here and see for yourselves that what I was saying is true. I can tell. I'd like to believe it was me that made this place so crowded and not the Final Four game, so let me live, okay. Anyway, things have seriously gone well as far as the customer service here. The bartenders make contact with and will tell you that they will be with you in a second rather than just ignore you. The difference from a few months ago is considerably noticeable. If anyone from Baja Sharkeez ever decides to read this review, THANK YOU for stepping it up and being the fun, cool place you have the potential be. Keep getting better and I will continue to be a loyal customer (with many friends and family). Today was great. One piece of advice. It was very busy with college students celebrating St. Patrick's Day early along with a local pub crawl event, so the atmosphere was energetic and crowded. All orders were taken at the bar, which was a bit difficult given how busy it was. We ordered beers and a margarita with a Tajín rim for drinks. Since we just wanted a quick bite, we also ordered chips and guacamole and a beef taco. When the order arrived, the taco was actually chicken instead of beef, but I didn't complain or return it. The taco was still flavorful and what you'd expect from a bar-style taco. The chips were nicely salted, though the guacamole could have used a little more seasoning. Staff was very attentive as someone at a table nearby dropped a bottle and it shattered and staff was responsive and immediately came over and cleaned it up. Overall, it had a classic bar vibe with friendly staff and a fun atmosphere pretty much what you'd expect from a busy college bar.

Did like the attempt at English decor, namely the phonebox hanging on the side of the bar and the usage of the Underground signage. Appreciated the (at least two) beers on tap that were imports -- couldn't quite see what they were, but they had my Guinness, so that was enough for me. (They do have a good selection of taps, including 805, another blonde, etc. Again - since I really only drink Guinness, I can't say I paid much attention.) The one thing I will say is that the atmosphere can give off a... I dunno, vibe. It's quite dark inside, even when it's moderately light out. (I called in around 7pm). Nevertheless, you can get a Guinness, so that's good enough for me. 2025: 23/100
