We had a good time here, so I'm shocked at the negative reviews. Security out front was super chill. Not too chill, they still did their jobs and ID'd us of course. One of my turnoffs for going out is when security is overly mean and intimidating, but that didn't happen here! Drinks were strong. Even if the prices are a bit steep they didn't skimp out on our drinks, I couldn't even finish mine! I was a little thrown off though how the receipt didn't have specific itemized prices it's all just one price. I have trust issues and I always wonder if places wrongfully charge me, so I always check the receipt to make sure things add up! Too bad I couldn't do that here. Music is always on point. Drinks are good and well priced in my opinion. Does get very crowded but that's because Sharkeez's DJ sucks so everyone ends up coming to O'Malleys. There is an upstairs and outside area so that helps if you need a breather. Definitely recommend this place when visiting SB. read more

If you have a bartender who has red hair and her name is Lynette...IMMEDIATELY LEAVE ! She will overcharge you, pocket the extra money for a tip, will not give you receipts prior to paying, and has a TERRIBLE attitude. Went there last night and I ordered a corona, a shot of gin, and a shot of tequila. Asked her if she could break my $100 bill for me so I could pay but she instead took my money WITHOUT providing me with receipt and charge me $50 for only 3 DRINKS?? When I asked her for a receipt, she completely ignored me and walked away. So unbelievably rude and stole money from me. The bouncers are incredibly rude here. Specifically the ones that worked Oct 9th 2025 around 10pm. I'm from Louisiana, this is my first time in Santa Barbara, and they completely ruined my first night here and made me want to never go out in the city again. I know, I know.... People might be shocked to see that O'Malley's gets a five star rating from me. More on that later. O'Malley's is hard to categorize which I believe is the reason it is not carrying a higher Yelp rating. I would describe it as a "neighborhood bar located at ground zero of tourist central". Some would call it a dive bar, it isn't. I am a bit of a dive bar connoisseur and O'Malley's falls short or more accurately elevates above the standard of dive bar. Mostly for the lack of bar flys sitting at the counter at 11:00am. They have an amazing team, many who have worked here for years and are loved by SB locals. Duane and Katie are fabulous and today as I write this Haley is working! She just made me an amazing margarita. Now, why five stars? Because I come here so freakin' much. How could I ever knock off a star for a place I frequent many times in a month. SB falls short in the sports bar department and O'Malleys has TV's in abundance! Inside, on the patio and now out front on State Street. Whether you love football, Dodger games or European Soccer they have it on. If you are visiting SB you might have noticed it is not uncommon to pay $16 for a drink, not O'Malley's, I don't know how many times I got my bill and said "we ordered five drinks" and heard them respond "yes, they are all on there". As a tourist you might find O'Malley's to be a little unkept for the fancy SB vibe you are used to, but come back on your next visit, and then your next. Last night there was inexcusable behavior from one of their bouncers. It was my wedding night, and my wife and I were trying to enter the bar for an after party. We had already changed out of our wedding attire, and were looking forward to spending some extra time with our friends. I made it through the bouncer with no issue, he checked my ID for a couple seconds, and let me in. However, the same cannot be said for my wife. He stopped her, asked for her ID, and looked at it for nearly 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, he asked for another form of identification. My wife gave him her credit cards which have the same exact name as the ID. The bouncer looked for another 30 seconds, using his flashlight, then started eyeing her up and down. Then, he asked her to smile--extremely inappropriate behavior, ESPECIALLY considering my wife looks exactly the same as her ID photo. After another minute of examination, I asked the bouncer what the problem was. He said "it doesn't look like her". Not sure how this is possible--eye color, hair color, smile, name on credit card all are identical. I asked if he needed me to bring up a social media account. He said "let me do my job". He continued to look at the IDs, all while at eyeing my wife up and down. We reiterated for a second time it was our wedding night, and he said "I'm just doing my job". He finally let her in. This is disgusting, piggish, and behavior that should be reprimanded by their higher up staff. This nearly ruined our night. I never want to support this establishment ever again. Get new bouncers that are not discriminatory, gross, and rude. I would LOVE to speak to the owners so they can rethink the employment of this individual. I can honestly say that this will forever be the last time I ever attend this bar, will never recommend it, and it will forever be mentioned in the same breath as this story. Please, find another bar with great people and great staff to go to--do not support this type of behavior. read more

Had a blast at first. Then they ruined it. On 7/10 we visited this bar and my bf asked to go up on the open space to dance and a bouncer said quote on quote yes go ahead!!! Then as he climbed the stairs to get up there, the bouncer dragged him off and threw him out the back door. It was so comical we thought it was a joke. But this bouncer was very serious. He convinced my boyfriend it was okay, he asked permission and everything, there was 0 women up there, he was not hurting or invading anyone's space, and this particular bouncer gave him permission. He then ripped him aggressively off the stage and to the back door. Where we all followed him out. Goodbye to your business. I am so disappointed to be rating this place a 1/5 but my experiences here have been so disappointing. 1. Both times I have been here the male bouncer has given weird looks to all females in my group as they check their ID. After confronting them the bouncer said they were just joking, but all females involved were made uncomfortable. 2. This place is extremely heteronormative. They only let people with boobs dance in the cages. They NEVER ( I confirmed this with the sketchy male bouncer) let people who present as male dance in the cages, regardless as to how they identify. 3. This place has very good music and it is disappointing that people have to go around the block to WILDCAT to find an inclusive place to dance.
