The reason I am giving this place 1 star is because of the customer service. It's as if you have entered a gang area that you're not supposed to be in when you arrive. Mean faces and even worse service. You get this feeling as if you don't belong and I've been here 3 times. I thought maybe the first time it was just a bad day in which they had encountered unruly patrons but it's EVERY time. Could this be trickle down effect from management? Will love to give them 0 starts but I can't. No help at all. They ask you to give your number for receive literally came back the next day because the item they gave me didn't work. Now they can't see it on the system. Always ask for you paper receives you never know what this guys are doing. They don't care at all. After calling customer support and complaining I was able to get it exchanged at the same store (I never left) and they told me the manager was going to help me. Perfect example of why retail is dead. This was the second of three O'Reilly's in a row i visited for 1 part, but this is the one where the person told me the correct part was at the third location, which ended up being something crazy, off-brand, and ill-fitting instead. So yesterday i went to buy a input and output speed sensor for my 2008 chrysler and the guy showed me pictures of what it looked like and so he ordered the sensor.... i picked it up the next day and then realised that the packaging and brand was different... which i thought was weird but whatever. This morning went to put the sensors on my car to find out that one of them is the wrong sensor... like seroously?? I told you want i needed and you showed me pictures of the part so how did you manage to order a different sensor? Anyway i took it back. I'm gonna stick with the O'Reilly's in Castro Valley... at least they know what they are doing!! If i could give 0 stars to the one on tennyson i would. read more

Thank you, Hayward O'Reilly, for reminding me why I despise retail establishments like yours. I went there yesterday, on my way home from work. I am female. I happened to be wearing a dress. I don't think that should have mattered but it seems to have factored into my experience. I walked in with a printout from the O'Reilly website showing a picture of the replacement headlight bulb I wanted (which is appropriate for my car) as well as the part number, price and the fact that that location had it in stock. I attempted to find it amongst their selection of bulbs but had difficulty - I have no idea who organized that section of the store but it does not appear to have been a person with a basic knowledge of the numerical system. The employee behind the counter asked if I needed help and I told him I was having trouble locating the part I was looking for, as I did not see the correct part number. He responded by asking, "Did your husband send you here?" ... I paused. Surely I had not heard him correctly, as this is not the 1950s, or some sick sad joke. He proceeded to ask me again whether my husband had sent me there, and I continued to be baffled as this was not even a sensical response to the difficulty I had expressed. I informed him that as I do not have a husband, such a person could not have sent me to his establishment. He immediately back-pedalled, assuming that his offense was pointing out my lack of husband, and informing me that he does not have a husband either. I assured him that as he is young, there is still time to accomplish such things. I then attempted to show him the printout and the part number I was looking for. He cut me off and insisted that I tell him the type of car I drive so he could look it up. I informed him there was no need for this and waved the printout (which showed all the possible headlight bulbs for the make/model/year of the car that I drive which are stocked by his store) at him. He ignored me and insisted on looking this information up himself. He then gave me the information on price and part number that was on the piece of paper I had in front of me, like he had done me a great favor. I pointed out that I had this information already, I just didn't see the item that corresponded to it. He finally showed me that the part I was looking for was on a shelf above my head where I couldn't see it. All I required, out of that entire, unnecessary, painful exchange, was for him to tell me that. Establishments like this are the reason that I buy my own replacement parts (and my male partner's, for that matter). They are the reason I insist on replacing my own headlight bulbs. Treating female customers like they don't have 2 brain cells to rub together is neither charming nor acceptable. read more

I was expecting the employees to do something rude based on the other reviews. They did not seem super friendly but I was not really expecting that at an auto store and there was no drama with my experience. read more

CUSTOMERS BE AWARE OF THIS LOCATION IN TENNYSON ROAD HAYWARD AND BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU BUY PARTS FOR YOUR CAR. My husband needed to change his alternator for his Toyota Camry so after calling places he found the part at this location. The sales rep that sold him the part didn't even check to see if the part was working and to our surprise he was sold a defective alternator for $360. After changing the battery (new battery was bought ) and the alternator our car still couldn't start so we took it back to the store and was told by another sales rep that the alternator was defective and wasn't working. If anyone who doesn't really know about car and parts we depend on sales rep that work at these places to sell us parts that are exactly working. Mind you I have 2 babies and god forbid anything were to happen while we were on the freeway I would have surely filed a law suit. Will surely try to get a hold of someone from corporate to give us a better explanation of the types of parts they sell read more

I came in today at 7:50 a.m. to buy a simple bolt , when I arrived I went to the front desk and I was asked to wait one moment. I was the only customer in the store but I did not mind waiting a bit considering that they had just opened not too long ago. I proceeded to waiting as after 5 minutes the 2nd worker asked me if I've already been helped and I explain to her what the previous worker had told me to wait a moment and he will get back to me. After time pass by all that I noticed them doing was being on their phone and talking about there schedule for this week to be fair it is possible that the 1st worker was on his phone looking for a product but as for the 2nd worker I realized that she must have just been kicking back because after half an hour of me waiting in the store alone another customer showed up and she instantly went to help from frustrated with having waited half an hour for no reason I decided to leave. I've came here before never had an issue but the complete lack of carelessness of them being on the clock and having me waist half an hour of my time for no reason put me over the edge. O'Reilly can choose to take this advice or not but this experience surely made my decision to just go down to a different shop a lot easier and by all means take a look at the footage of the front desk and will see I patiently waited ten got passed up by a new customer who was helped immediately read more

Just a straightforward, soulless auto parts store for your urgent parts needs. The place is perfectly fine, but I've noticed that prices have gone up significantly since Kragen Auto was bought & rebranded as O'Reilly Auto Parts, and hence the "urgent" qualifier. For bulk items like motor oil, consider visiting Wal-Mart or Target. For smaller items like wiper refills and lightbulbs, your best bet here in the early 21st Century may be to visit Amazon.com or even eBay. read more

On the little yellow receipt you can see the typed out words "O' Reilly cares". But if you come to this location it's more like O' Reilly don't care! The staff is very rude. While waiting in line what seemed like forever there was one guy working with a customer while the other employee was talking on the phone oblivious to the growing line. Meantime there are other staff members behind the counter who just walk around with blank expressions on their faces. After about 5 minutes phone guy yells out Next! That customer stepped up to the counter and this employee talked to him like he was a little kid. After what seemed like 15 minutes it was my turn with receipt in hand I was returning a steering wheel cover that smelled like it was dipped in gasoline! To be fair the cover fits over the steering wheel perfectly however there is this very strong odor of petroleum that seems to absorb all the oxygen in the car. Long story short the phone guy tells me he won't give me a refund, I say why??? He says because I don't have the inside piece of card board that goes inside! I say I didn't buy the cardboard I bought the steering wheel cover!!! He says he can't take it back.... I then say I have a receipt !!! He says sorry can't help you! Luckily while on my out State I went to a Auto Zone store they were very friendly there, I was in line for only a few minutes there and while I waited one of the staff people says to me... I wonder if you can get a job there if your IQ is over 20. I am a 70 year old woman. My last trip in there for a part was an all time low. When I finally got someone to acknowledge my existence, the young man didn't know what the part was that I was asking for. I showed him the old one and he didn't know what it was for. This is a horrble place to get your auto parts. The staff here do not know how to give proper customer service. I went to this store looking for engine coolant and when I opened the door and stepped inside the place was completely emptyno customers or staff members in sight. When I had gotten the coolant and went to the counter to pay there was still no one in sight to help me. I had stood there for awhile and I saw an employee at the entrance having a casual conversation with another customer in spanish. When I had asked if he could help me he said that he didn't speak very good english. At that moment another guy came back from behind the counter and said that he would be able to help me. After he scanned the bottle of coolant it was clear that he had no idea how to run the register and had to ask the employee out in front of the store for help leaving me at the counter. After he returned he threw my change on the counter along with the reciet not even placing them in my hand then he didn't even tell me thank you or to have a nice day. Extremely rude and iconsiderate of their customers, also while I was making my purchase another female employee had come out from the back on her cell phone having another causual conversation making no attempt to help out the other customer that had arrived shortly after me. Overall the worst customer service I've ever had at any retail store in my life, and I'm never going there again. read more
