Joshua was very helpful getting the right part. It was a bit tricky. I didn't know that there were 8 different sizes driver side view mirrors. The computer look up systems doesn't tell you that. Joshua helped measure it and we jointly sized the physical mirror against the graphic representation on his ordering system. The correct part came in. So I apppreicate Joshua's help very much. I had a very disappointing experience at this O'Reilly Auto Parts location. I purchased a Dorman window regulator and motor assembly. The box I was given had already been opened, and I specifically asked whether everything was inside. I was told it was complete. After spending the time to install the part, I discovered the box contained only the window regulator--the motor was missing. I returned to the store expecting them to make it right. O'Reilly also sells the window regulator by itself, and it costs about $40 less than the regulator-and-motor assembly. I wasn't asking for a free motor or any special treatment. I simply asked for a refund of the approximately $40 price difference since I had only received the regulator. Instead, I was told the only option was to remove the installed regulator and return it. That would have meant wasting hours of labor because of a packaging mistake that wasn't my fault. What made the experience even worse was the attitude of the staff. Rather than trying to understand the situation or work toward a reasonable solution, they came across as dismissive and rude. I understand that employees have to follow store policies, but there is a respectful and professional way to communicate with customers. What disappointed me most wasn't just the missing part--it was the lack of a reasonable customer service solution. If a store sells an opened box and assures the customer it's complete, it should take responsibility when it isn't. A simple refund of the price difference would have resolved the issue fairly for everyone. I hope management improves how opened merchandise is inspected and handled and provides employees with more flexibility--and better customer service training--to resolve situations like this. Unfortunately, this experience has made me hesitant to shop at O'Reilly again. read more

O'REILLY TAKES ADVANTAGE OF WOMEN!! I'm a capable, independent DIY woman, and my experience at O'Reilly's was infuriating. I went in for simple replacement wiper blades. They sold me the wrong ones, and when I tried to install them, they damaged my wiper arms. When I went back, the staff admitted they sold me the wrong part -- then immediately tried to blame me, speaking to me like I had no idea what I was doing. Instead of taking responsibility for the damage they caused, the manager was rude, condescending and refused to help. I was calm but firm about the issue and made it clear I wasn't leaving until it was resolved. The manager responded by calling the police on me -- an absolutely unacceptable intimidation tactic. When the officers arrived and heard the situation, even they agreed I had a valid complaint. Still, the manager refused to take any accountability. I contacted corporate afterward, hoping someone higher up would correct the situation. No luck. No responsibility. No resolution. This company showed zero integrity, zero professionalism, and zero respect. If you're a woman -- or care about one -- stay far away from O'Reilly's. AUTO ZONE IS FAR BETTER! My car was damaged because of their mistake, and they refused to make it right. read more

I came here to pick up some pins for my bumper/fender. The 2 or 3 guys working were very rude. There was only 1 patron in front of me but the workers were hiding behind the batteries behind the curtains goofing off. Even when I asked for help, the pointed me in the general direction down an aisle. Everyone is very nice but unless you need car room fresheners, car wax or floor mats, it's impossible to find parts here. We had a big car project and it's in a fairly convenient shopping center. I've been in a few times with a "shopping list" but haven't been able to leave with anything except some new black floor mats. I'm happy with the floor mats, but maybe the employees should offer to take a project list and bring in the parts for their customers. If I had an auto parts store, I'd ask about the project and look at the list of parts to complete that project. Then, I'd offer to put together a box of parts...just thinking... I hope it wasn't the puffy magenta flowers on my shoes that led them to direct me to the floor mats... read more

When driving along major highways/streets like El Camino Real, you are guaranteed to see two things: A whole bunch of car dealerships and a large number of auto parts & supply shops. Last weekend, I needed to replace a brake lightbulb for my Toyota and I knew exactly where I needed to go. I've driven along Highway 82 (El Camino Real) to know that there are an INSANE number of O'Reilly Auto Parts spread all throughout. For example, I used to drive every weekend from Sunnyvale all the way to the edge of Los Altos via El Camino and I could count at least 6-7 different O'Reilly's on the way. During my most recent trip to O'Reilly's, I decided to visit the location that's right on the edge of Sunnyvale and Mountain View near Grant Road. This spot is actually pretty nice because it's IMMEDIATELY off the 85 freeway, and so if you need to find an auto shop STAT and are near the area, this is a good spot. Parking is also pretty good and plentiful too. Like most times when I'm at O'Reilly's, I immediately turned to the cash register for help because I always struggle with their numbering system. The woman who was helping me was very polite, but I could tell it she was probably new at the job since she had to ask a co-worker for advice (glad she didn't just send me away!). She eventually told me the number I needed for the lightbulb replacement, but did not point to the exact location of the item (she basically gave me the number and the aisle). It took me (with the help of my girlfriend) maybe 3-4 minutes before I found what I needed. Not too bad, but I kind of wished that the person helping me had walked me to my item - especially since business was slow. I don't want to sound entitled, but I feel like I've come to expect that top-service from O'Reilly Auto Parts. Nevertheless, I ended up purchasing what I needed at a low cost (woot it was only $6) and left satisfied. Overall, I had a positive experience at this O'Reilly Auto Parts. The location was perfect and the service was okay. I wished that the lady helping me had walked me to where I needed to go, since I (like many people coming in) struggle with auto parts, but maybe that's my fault for not speaking. I'm not at all mad that they couldn't change my battery for me - my car is a Volvo and apparently it has a more difficult battery to replace. However, I am disappointed that they told me to come in anyway (over the phone) and they would check it out and see if they could possibly change it. When I arrived I was greeted with a friendly hello, but after I told them I needed a battery installation for my Volvo they just said "Sorry" and I was like "oh well I was told to come in so they could physically inspect it". The man at the counter argued with me and told me it wasn't him I spoke to on the phone. I said, "okay well I'll need a jump, since now my vehicle is probably dead again", and the two at the register were silent. No help whatsoever. Where is the customer service at this place?? So rude! It was raining hard and I was about to drive to Southern California. Walked in to buy a windshield wiper. The cashier asked me the make/model and walked me to the item, grabbed it and walked me to the register. A different service clerk asked which car was mine and installed the wiper for free before I even finished paying the cashier. I've NEVER been to an auto part store where they installed my purchase for me without me even having to ask (granted it was just a wiper). Went outside and began to undo my tail light cover to replace my turn signal bulb (I'm kind of lazy and wait until I have to drive far to fix simple things on my car). The clerk must have seen me fumbling in the rain, so he came out and asked if I was doing ok. I told him I was fine and I was putting in a bulb I purchased elsewhere and I was fine. Without hesitation he walked up and offered to do it for me for free. In the rain. Trying to figure out which ones to choose was hard since I didn't recognize any of the brands. I decided to install the wipers while still in the parking lot just to make sure I could get them on okay. The clips on the old and new blades were quite different but Cristopher showed me how to install them and even offered to do it if I couldn't get them installed. two weeks ago I went in there to buy a buffer pad. The store had like seven customers. I had to wait a very long time then the guy that did the register he didn't give me a receipt he acted like he didn't know how to do that well I got the wrong buffer pad so two weeks later here I go back in there and they can't look up a purchase that was two weeks ago. They can only go back five days they would not do an exchange for a different size buffer pad, and I don't know if the cashier was the dishonest one that didn't bring it up or what but they can't do an exchange without a receipt is ridiculous. It's a six dollar item. I will never shop there again every time I go in there. It's a long wait even if there's two people you got to stand there for 10 to 15 minutes to get helped if you're a guy maybe you get but it seems to me they're much friendlier to the men that walk in there I'm very upset I didn't like the way you talk to me and he was not helpful in anyway read more

Went here looking for sensor parts for my Honda. Dora helped me first to figure out what I needed. She offered to let me price check with Honda. Called the Larry Hopkins Honda part department and the part guy said he has no idea what I was talking about.. then transferred me.. it took 4 people at Honda to figure out what a Knock sensor and Throttle petal sensor was. Still they didn't know if they had it. The manager -Rafael- came over and in a few clicks of the keyboard had exactly what I needed and ordered for 1/3 of the price that Honda was trying to say I needed. Dora and Rafael are such an amazing team and were above & beyond helpful to me! I recommend this location to anyone who is looking for part and stuff! What a pity Yelp doesn't have no stars, which would be just right for this bad-service location of an otherwise acceptable source. I went into this convenient Kragen to get a battery for my Honda. Although a neighbor assured me that they would change the battery, I took the necessary 10mm wrench just in case and was glad I did. They provided no help so I did the job and brought my old battery back inside for 'core' credit. My hands were dirty from the work, so I asked whether they might have some wipes. "No," said the surly lout at the counter. Then he added: "And you can't use the bathroom. It's for employees only." This is the same lout who had closed his cash register (I came in at 4:50 PM) because he was through for the day. And they actually want us to recommend them or come back? They must be kidding. I sent an email comment to the corporation and got a 'groveling' automatic response, assuring me that they would address the issue immediately. No prizes for guessing their 'prompt' response. I am glad Yelp is here to let us record these experiences, though I know that an individual cannot win vs. a corporation. But I urge readers not to patronize Kragen, based on their 'service' and attitude. read more

I generally prefer O'Reilly over AutoZone for the friendly, helpful service, but this store is a complete joke. I came in on Labor Day, when two absolute dumbasses were working. The part they sold me earlier did not come with a plug that was supposed to be packaged with it. (I called their tech support/distributor, and they confirmed this.) So I asked for help finding this plug. After they offered me one plug that was very clearly the wrong plug -- I even showed photos of the part that receives the plug -- I was left on my own to use my phone and find the plug myself. After fifteen minutes of searching the utterly useless O'Reilly mobile website, I approached them again. I had to show Dumbass #1 how to use his computer to browse for parts, so that I could find it myself on their system. After a minute or two of frustration and his reluctance to help me find the part -- to essentially fix THEIR mistake -- I found a universal plug. Of course, it was out of stock. I asked if they could order it and have it delivered to the O'Reilly store closer to my house, and he said they were unable to do that. I'd have to order it myself from the other store. Really? After making me find this part myself and guide you through your computer system, you can't even do me a "favor" and make that call yourself? To top it all off, Dumbass #2, who appeared to be Dumbass #1's superior, witnessed this entire escapade and was too lazy to offer any help. read more

I was surprised at how surly the folks were here but then discovered they were rather inept as well. Was simply trying to drop off my brake rotors to get them turned. Waited alone while one gal answered phone calls at the counter and 4 guys were working or standing in the back area. Had to go and pester them in the back to get some service after waiting 10 minutes listening to the gal on the phone. The attitude was one of resentfulness that I even bothered them. Customer service is really lacking here and there is just a bad vibe in this place.
