Overall, the store is well stocked and most of the staff is nice. However, an employee named Chase made my experience unpleasant. I came in needing engine oil and was helped by a different associate who explained what to get. I then couldn't find the aisle, so I asked Chase for help. He was rude, and when I asked if I needed an oil filter (I've never done this myself), he said yes, then responded, "Oh, I don't know if we even have it." He eventually found it. When I was ready to check out, the associate who originally helped me came over. Chase said to him, "I don't even care, you do it." That attitude wasn't okay. read more

Today my college student daughter went to buy a battery for her car. "Bogart" ask her how many cylinders does your Corolla have? 4 or 6 cylinders? What an idiot! My daughter then told the guy can he please switch the new battery out of her car. The idiot told my daughter we don't provide that service here...which they do. That fool didn't give a crap about customs service...he kept talking with his coworker about the party they went to and what they were going to order for lunch today. Too bad I'm out of state to help my daughter in college. I just wanted to post this so the higher ups can see what kind of lazy no good for nothing workers they have. These guys are the best. I stopped in there as one of the light bulbs in my Hyundai Tuscon was out. I knew the bulb I had to get, and they had it. I asked if they still installed stuff, and they quickly said they would try. That's all you can ask, of course. So, one gentleman found where it needed to go and pulled out the piece holding it. But he couldn't reach far enough in to pull out the dead bulb. He tried and tried. It wouldn't turn. He kept reaching in. I asked if his hand was too large, and he agreed. He called over one of the other gentlemen to see if he could get his hand in further. He got it out. The first guy tried to put it back, but the same problem. He went back in to get his friend to come back out. The bottom line, they worked really hard for me, and I so appreciate it. Wonderful customer service and they are just nice. I was in the area and stopped by this store but the guy behind the counter was useless. He couldn't help at all and didn't attempt to. Rude Assistance manager. Wouldn't answer my very simple question and said I was "cutting the line" which I clearly wasn't because I was in the Online Pickup area which had nothing to do with the regular customers. If I wasn't supposed to be there, then what is the point of the sign?! Since it was only him and one other person, I didn't care if I waited until the line died down. I was at this store yesterday morning, there were only two of us in the store. The man in front of me was purchasing a battery and asked for help installing it since his cars battery was dead and he did not have any tools. They were out here from back east. I heard the man say he was at Stanford and after the worker refused to help him and was telling him to drive to a shop to pay them to swap the batter I spoke up. I told the man I lived five minutes away and if he fallowed me I would be glad to help him. It took us five minutes to swap the battery, I also found out the man and his wife where her so there child could have brain surgery at Stanford. What happened to them helping and loaning tools? I am just glad I was there to help the family and earn some good karma. read more

It's now nearly June(!) and I finally got around to taking my car back to O'Reilly's to diagnose what the check engine error is on my car! Can you believe it? I work from home and live in an area where it's easy to get around and do my errands without a car, that's why it took so long. Still, I've been driving it to places where i needed to haul heavy stuff home -- probably about 250 miles since I last posted. Guys, I was so lucky I didn't break down on the freeway somewhere because when I took it back to O'Reilly's today, the code came up as "Severity: 3 out of 3. Stop and repair vehicle immediately." I'll never ignore that warning light again! Anyway, Raul was so friendly, professional, and super helpful in diagnosing the problem. He also gave me a couple of great recommendations on where to get my car serviced that are close to where I live. I'll be taking care of that soon, so look out for my next review on that. Shout out to "Mr. Awesome" Raul for his help today, and also Kevin and Bogart who answered the phone both times I called for advice before and after bringing my car in. The battery in our Murano died. We were in Palo Alto visiting our son and couldn't start the car. We obtained a jump and drove to this O'Reilly Auto Parts store. The shift manager Kevin sold us a battery that matched our needs and installed the battery for us. The task took all of 45 minutes because Nissan makes it nearly impossible to install a battery easily. Kevin could have put us off but he didn't. We could not be more pleased with this level of service. Kudos to O'Reilly and much appreciation to Kevin for the over and above customer service. read more

My headlight burnt out. I called this shop on California Avenue in Mountain view, and they found the right bulb for my car. I brought in the car, and struggled to change the bulb myself in my parking space in front of the store. The sweet salesperson who had sold me the bulb saw me through the window, clearly figured out that I had no idea what I was doing, and came out to help. In a few minutes, he figured out how to remove the old bulb and replace it with the new, not so straightforward a process. He was kind, polite, not condescending, very understanding and sweet. His name is Oscar and he ROCKS. He is a lovely young man, and he makes this store look really good. He absolutely refused to take money, which is further evidence of his integrity. I was in need of new windshield wipers so I stopped by O'Reilly Auto store. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. A nice young man, Alex, helped me pick the right wipers at a reasonable price. After I paid for them I asked him if he would help me replace them on my car. He was glad to help and in no time, I had new wipers for the next time it rains. This was one of the best auto parts store experiences ever! My son and I came in here looking for a turn light bulb for his Jetta. There were three different part numbers listed in the computer and we didn't know which part to use. We had to go out to the car and get the bulb. To say that getting out the light bulb was difficult is an understatement. Mario, the Assistant Manager was right there to help us though. He gave us tools, held the screws, helped us negotiate through the three different plastic covers and then found the right bulbs for us from the part number. He even let use the washroom to clean our hands afterwards. This store is now owned by O'Reily Auto Parts and all I can say is I hope they give Mario a big raise so he sticks around for a very long time! read more

went into an O'Reilly's in Huntington Beach, California, Golden West, and Warner to buy a $13 bottle of power steering fluid, needed to use the bathroom in a hurry and employees told me I can't use their bathroom. Had to runoff to CVS next-door just in time, it's poor customer relations not only that they were rude and Auto zone you have no problem when you need to use the bathroom so you know what I don't think I'll ever go back to another O'Reilly's and I've spent a lot of money there over time, RUDE! no class read more

3 stars means A-OK. It does not mean that I have a problem with these guys. It also does not mean that I am in love with this place. This is the closest Kragen to my house which means it's where I go for light bulbs. I obviously don't have any negative experiences with my purchases. I came in here with a problem. I explained my problem to guy 1 and guy 1 tried to help me. Guy 2 was listening in and took over. Guy 1 told me to take my car back to the car wash place and tell them that they broke it and should fix it for me. Guy 2 spent a good 10 minutes talking to me and figuring out what was wrong with my car. My conclusion is that if you talk to the right person, he'll take the time to talk to you and try to help you. read more

Don't ever go here - there's plenty of other Kragen's Auto Parts in Mountain View. This place is a joke and I thought after they opened the new Kragen's off of El Camino - where the old Kinkos and back in the day Wherehouse use to be located they would've closed it. But to my surprise they're still in business. I can't count the number of times I've gone here for parts with boyfriends and my pops and the box with the part supposely in it was just an empty box or a box with partial parts. If you buy parts from this particular Kragens - before you leave the store check the box to make sure all the parts are enclosed because if you don't they accuse you of stealing. I never seen my pops get really mad before - but this one time we went and bought a part for my car and the part wasn't even inside the box and when my dad went back and told them so - they swore up and down the part was in the box before he left. They didn't even check the box themselves - so how would they know. My dad - and he is very soft spoken - got gangsta on their asses - I was in total shock - he threw the box at the guys and told them to go screw themselves - (pops doesn't use curse words) FOLKS PASS THIS ONE BY AND GO TO THE OTHER 2 IN MOUNTAIN VIEW. Unbelievably great service! I needed snow chains for my tires. The guy at O'Reilly's helped me find the right ones for my Ford Explorer and then took them out to the carpark to show me how to put them on!  I'd never put on snow chains before and it was so helpful to see this being done.  This came in handy because I had to put them on during a snow-storm and it only took me 10 minutes because I already knew what to do. Extremely bad costumer service, today 7/17 my wife was looking for a wiper blade. Three people just standing there talking to each other and didn't even acknowledge she was there. I have been at this specific store before and their behavior was the exactly the same, is like you need to force them to speak with you. If they don't like their job, they should quit and find something they actually enjoy doing. Employees often are the reflection of their managers/management. My car had died and I needed a new battery stat! I called over to this O'Reilly's and Ray answered. He was quick to figure out the batteries that were in stock and worked with my vehicle. I was able to get a jump and get over to the shop. Ray was waiting for me with the battery. He even offered to install it for me! Anthony ended up taking over when the shop suddenly got busy. No strong opinions on O'Reilly. The first person I talked to was very friendly and answered my (relatively simple) question about a fuse. My second visit, I waited at the counter for several minutes before any store salesperson noticed me and checked me out. It would have been nice if he said "sorry to keep you waiting," but otherwise no big deal. How can anyone mess this up? Take order, place order, receive order, sell to customer. The reason why I'm writing this review is because I'd be working on my car, but now I have extra time on my hands. (1 week ago) Tried to place an order for specific quantities of items, only 1 item of each showed up. There were supposed to 9 pieces. (4 days ago)Asked if I can reorder the correct amount and pickup and when I get back from a trip (more than 3 days) and said the parts would be at store when I arrive. (Yesterday) Sent GF to pick up parts, none of them are there. Guy at counter says that "they'll arrive next day". Didn't even bother to check the status of my order or where the parts were. (Today) GF goes in again a second time and person at the counter said nothing arrived. Parts were shipped back days ago since we didn't pick them up (even when I was told I could after I get back from my trip) and that we would need to reorder. What drives me crazy is the guy from previous day didn't place or check if the order is still on! Terrible communication, don't know how to make an order, and have no clue on the basics of customer service. What a bunch of rookies. The Story Rd. shop never failed me. What a mess. I've been a MV resident for a long time and this store has always been a dump. Unfortunately they were close and I needed something simple. Store was a mess. Old batteries laying on the floor, no AC in the store. Some guy with hillbilly cutoffs said he could give me a hand. Disappeared in the back room and never came back. I was supposed to wait for him -- forget getting helped next, which confuses both me and the guy behind me. Now phone guy is annoyed and passes me on to someone else, who is helpful. Even shows me how to put my own windshield wipers on. It's because of him that this review gets more than one star. When he can't get the back wiper on, he calls phone guy, Mariano, who tries, complains it's the wrong one, tries others, breaks off mine, and finally says I'll have to go to the dealership to get one. Probably the worst of the three Mountain View O'Reillys. I have a very common car, yet over half the time this store's all out of the most basic parts (wipers, oil, filter wrenches). The employees are on the slow & lazy end of the spectrum, and their return policy seems dishonest. I bought a shoddily-made oil drain pan whose top didn't seal properly (Blitz brand), but once an item's been "used" they only allow exchanges. How the hell could I have known it's defective without using it? Careful what you buy here. Not that there's a need. I've noticed that even when stuff like oil is on sale here, it's STILL cheaper at Walmart (i.e. $25 for a 5-gallon jug of full synthetic). And for more specialized items, Pep Boys seems to have em beat (I picked up a 2-ton trolley jack for $25, vs. O'Reilly's $40). If for whatever reason you're still compelled to patronize O'Reilly, at least go to the one that has its act together -- at the corner of El Camino and Escuela. read more

Love this O'Reilly Auto. Two experiences both great. Went there a year ago for Sienna engine air filter and Anthony came out to the parking lot to help me with the installation. Went today to pick up parts and supplies for transmission fluid flush. Both Sarah and especially Bogart helped with picking the items. I usually have a great experience with this location. The adult staff are usually very helpful. My go to guy is the Hispanic gentleman with the mustache I believe. His customer service is amazing. With all that being said though, it really only takes one time to leave a bad taste in your mouth. Today, Aug 4th at around 6pm, there didn't seem to be any employees to help. When I got to the counter, I see this pimply-faced teen sitting on the step ladder watching a video with his headphones in. He looked at me and back at his phone multiple times as if to milk every last second from his extremely important video. He then proceeded to hop off irritation and slam his hand on the keyboard to wake the computer. Scanned my items and gave me the price. He said "credit?" I said, yea and proceeded to insert my card. In doing so, I asked, "can I give you my number for the rewards thing?" He then pounded on the F4 key I believe to try and cancel the transaction but the receipt printed and he said, "shit." Didn't offer a chance to do over or anything. Just handed me my items like 'welp, sucks for u.' This place HAD knowledgeable and professional customer service but without it, it's nothing more than a pimply-faced franchise where you wish there was a self checkout so you wouldn't have to interact with this rude and lazy kid. If I ever do come back, it'll be in the mornings when this kid is for sure still asleep. Otherwise, I'll just be ordering my stuff online and save me a trip. read more

Great customer service. kudos to Will and the team. A tail light went out on my wife's car. I purchased the bulb and was going to go back home and install in the driveway. Had trouble getting the bub/socket out, so went back to the store. They offered to look up instructions on YouTube and offered a service manual for information. They helped remove the bulb and check operation. As I was driving away I noticed the warning light was back on. So did a U-turn and back to the store. The problem turned out to be a loose connection. Pushed the contacts closer together and viola' problem solved. Happy wife, happy life!. read more

I just went in last night and bought wiper blades. The girl helping me was super nice even after I told her I was okay buying just the cheapest ones, and then she went outside and PUT THEM ON and even taught me how to do it. As someone who has no idea about how to do any car maintenance, I was really impressed how about helpful she was. Also I got out of there for less than 26 dollars-what a DEAL! read more
