I want to give a big shout out to Trong for going above and beyond in helping me with my battery warranty exchange today. There was an issue with the item number on my receipt, but he took the time to figure it out and made sure everything worked out. When I came back to drop off my old battery after installing the replacement from my mechanic, I was met by the store manager. I explained that I was there for a return and warranty exchange, with all my receipts in hand. Instead of reviewing my issue, he immediately told me there was nothing he could do, and shifted the conversation with an attitude, emphasizing that he was the store manager. I asked for Trong to explain the situation, and while doing so, the manager openly criticized him in front of me and two other customers. Whether right or wrong, that kind of conversation should be handled privately, not in front of customers. Trong was simply doing his job and trying to help me, and it was unprofessional for the manager to treat him that way. As a paying customer with a legitimate issue, I shouldn't be made to feel like a burden. And no employee should be spoken down to publicly when they're trying to help. Went in yesterday around noon because my headlight was burned out. The website says they do free headlight bulb replacement unless it's a difficult replacement. The store was not busy at all. I said I needed my headlight bulb replaced and was told they do not do that. I said their website says the offer that free service and he said "no, we don't". He didn't check and say it was a difficult replacement (it wasn't because I went elsewhere and it took 5 minutes). He just said no. So either he just didn't feel like doing it or the website is deliberately misleading. Either way not great customer service. read more

Mike answered and was super nice and helpful. He said that he had the battery I needed and that I could come in anytime. I waited for my friend to jump my car and drove there. I found Mike and not only did he do a price search for Autozone and Pep Boys (they price match), he first ran a test on my battery, confirmed it was bad, then helped me change the battery and did a quick diagnostic test on my car. With the demise of the weekend warrior, there are less automotive parts stores around these days. The local Pep Boys just closed, so i had to make a U-turn to O'Reilly and was able to find the car maintenance supplies I was looking for. Even the brick and mortar Department stores don't carry the supplies as they used to, and only carry things you might find at a supermarket. Quality parts are hard to come by, now that everything is electronic, and designed to last less than 10 years, so you are required to buy a new car, just like a new cellphone or computer. I really enjoy doing as much as I can myself, just to be self-sufficient and know my abilities are still there, even during this new electronic era. Came in here today, as the Pasadena store had sold me the wrong low beam light bulbs. I wanted to exchange the wrong bulbs for the correct ones. I hadn't even opened the packet. I showed them the bulb that I had taken out of my car, and it turns out I have HID bulbs in my car. They told me that the correct bulb would be $130 each. The original incorrect bulbs they had sold me were $60 for two. I didn't have my original sales receipt, but they told me that was fine. They could look up my purchase on their system and refund me for the incorrect bulbs they sold me. Okay, fine, if that's how much I have to pay, then so be it. Their system showed they had them in stock, but they were unable to find them. In the mean time, I did a Google search on the bulb I had removed from my car, and it was $49 on Amazon. I asked them why their bulb was $135, when online the exact same bulb was $42?? They came up with every excuse under the sun as to why their bulb cost more. It was the exact same bulb! Okay, a $10 markup over online seems fine. But almost 3 times vs online is just day light robbery. When I asked for a refund on the incorrect bulbs they had sold me, that is when they couldn't do anything. Despite telling me that they could find my original purchase on their system. But because I didn't have my original receipt, they could only offer me a store credit and nothing else. Hmm, talk about a total blatant lie. Won't be coming back to this chain anymore. Worst service! I bought an engine oil and the bottle leaked. I went back to return it. The manager thinks I somehow used it and doesn't allow me to return it! Clearly the bottle is closed and seal it's not broken. The cap is loose and stripping oil in front of him and he still denied it. and told me this conversation is over! Wow! he keeps saying he doesn't know what I did to it, he sound like it's our fault and we lying to him by using it and somehow able to close it and sealed that seal! I've only been here twice AFTER I lived in the area for 15 years. First was because it was a little late on a weekend and they were fortunately open and yesterday because it turns out Pep Boys (where I used to go only because it's very close to where I lived) is permanently closed. Anyhow, SUPER good experience both times at this O'Reilly. First time, I got new headlights and second time, I needed new windshield wipers. In both situations, I needed them to install for me. And both times, the person was very helpful AND had great attitude (totally willing to help). Yesterday, the guy's co-worker had to step away when I needed help and suddenly two other customers also needed help, and he managed everything so calmly and well. All the 5 star reviews are legit. I would've happily gave this store 5 stars I've never had a bad experience here before. I went in 6/10/23, I bought a battery the day before and the car won't turn on. Weird, I take it in for a replacement and to get it checked, Amelia tells me my battery is fine and that it's my alternator not only did she tell me this with an extreme amount of attitude, she misdiagnoses my car's alternator for not working and saying the battery was okay. Tells me I have to wait for my car to get jumped and she'll be right out. I wait an hour and get frustrated, the battery tender was nowhere in sight and I had to manually take my battery out there and bring it to a charger, not a big deal on its own but why didn't she tell me instead of making me wait there for an extra hour. I get my alternator checked the day after and it and my starter are in perfect condition. Amelia not only wasted my time she wasted my money, the battery just needed to be charged. Maybe it's just my cosmic timing in the universe, but nearly every place I looked at was sold out of the size needed for Mrs. C's car. This location is a postage stamp compared to the other Kragen/O'Reilly store on Valley, but it had EVERY size and was extremely well stocked. I have lived very close to the store for about 3 1/2 years, and in that time I have visited maybe a dozen times. for the most part, I only make small purchases here - - a bottle of windshield washer fluid, a container of brake fluid... Nothing too fancy. For this kind of a purchase, the store doesn't excellent job. You get in, you get out. No big deal. Recently, I purchased a pull behind camper trailer, that has two batteries to run the electrical systems when hook ups are not available. Due to the age of the trailer, the batteries were long dead and required replacement. I went to O'Reilly, and immediately went to the back desk where business is transacted, and requests for special parts are made. My experience with the clerk was exemplary. He search their inventory for the specific battery, and realizing that he did not have it in stock, contacted several other stores... Including a few competitors to see if they might have it. He even contacted a specialized camping store to ask them as well. As it turned out, I had to purchase the batteries at another location, because O'Reilly did not carry them. However, I so appreciated this gentleman's personal service, and his willingness to go the extra mile not merely to make a sale, but to ensure that my customer experience was positive. Due to that level of service, I will return to the store for all of my automotive needs, up to the capacity I have to work on my own vehicles. granted, that might be brake pads and oil change supplies, but if more places acted like this, I have to believe everyone would be more successful in business. yelp would certainly see a lot more four and five star reviews. read more

I needed to replace some light bulbs for my tail lights so I pop into my local auto parts store. They were very busy and I had to wait for one of the staff to help me find the right bulbs. Even though they were swamped, the employees seem to enjoy working and I could see that the willingness to help was genuine. They looked up what appeared to be the right part number and found them right away. So I bought the bulbs and came home and replaced them. Uh oh.... out of the two types of bulbs, one worked but the other didn't. So I searched online for the right part numbers myself. The website was designed well and I was able to find what I needed for my specific car. Looking at the part numbers, they either looked up the wrong number or more likely picked up the wrong bulbs from the stock. Either way, I had to make 2 trips to get what I needed. The correct bulbs looked identical to what I had originally bought and it's easy to make mistakes. They were apologetic as well, but I still had to make 2 trips. LESSON: Look up what you need before coming in. This way, you're sure to get things done right the first time. read more

One of the better O'Reilly Auto Parts I've been in. A quick walk around shows that the shelves are well stocked and neat. I appreciate that it doesn't look like it's been hit by shoplifters. Well, this store has put the final nail to the coffin to my hard earn dollars! I will never buy from the O'Reilly brand and its affiliates again. I had a good first experience at O'Reilly at the location on Lake Ave in Pasadena two decades ago. The staff at the time was friendly and knowledgeable. The San Gabriel store on Las Tunas is just outrageously ridiculous with customer service and they do not give a damn if they sell you a lemon. I tried to get a free battery test and the staff was so hesitant to provide the service. One of the male associates said it was against store policy to step out the store and help carry the battery in store to give it a test. I had to take a picture of it and have one of these numb skulls find it in their database. The manager on duty found the type and gave me a R instead of a L and said the L&R don't make a difference. Oh boy was the leader of the fools completely wrong. I needed to get the battery replaced asap so it I just bought it because these idiots wouldn't custom order it. The battery didn't fit and I went back for a full refund, instead they refused even with a receipt?!? I had to make a call to both my creditor and the county to get my money back or they will get hit with a charge back and a hefty fine to their business license. All this nonsense and not even an apology? This company is worth a billions of US dollars and their stocks are doing well doing this pandemic... I guess to they think their investors are more important than their everyday customers, what a shame! I went to Longo Toyota parts and was out in 15 minutes. They even installed the battery free of charge and gave me coupons to have me come back. (Applies only to Toyota/Lexus vehicles) Longo Toyota has my business now. ;) read more

I stopped by tonite for a free battery recharge service that they provide coz my car battery wasn't working. My friend jumped started my car so I could get there and get recharged. The guy didn't want to help me out bcoz its was 5min before closing. He said that I hv to take the battery out myself so he can recharge the battery for me. Since I dunno how to do it, he told me to call a friend and said " this is the time u find out who is your friend." WTH!!! if ur shop provides recharge service, then u hv to do it when its NOT closed. 5 min before closing still count as OPEN.
