An Extremely Disappointing Experience - Lack of Professionalism and Ethics Among Employees Last Saturday morning, I went to an O'Reilly auto parts store and had a terrible experience. There were no other customers in the store, and the male employee who served me was clearly inexperienced. He sold me a license plate frame but didn't even know how to find the right screws. What's the point of selling a license plate frame without screws? Am I supposed to take it home as a decoration? When I asked for a refund, he didn't know how to do it. Then, a female employee came in, and she was extremely rude. Even when I explained that I was in a hurry to get to work, she deliberately stalled, glaring at me and saying, "Don't rush us!" Completely unprofessional! If she were truly professional, she should have tried her best to find the right product for me, instead of just giving me a refund. My car was parked outside, and it would have been easy to find what I needed. I sincerely hope that management will hire proactive, genuinely helpful employees instead of scaring customers away. When I went to Autozone after get off work to buy a new car frame, the employees there were not only friendly and attentive but also offered much cheaper prices. read more

I came in during my lunch break to get my battery checked as I had a suspicion it was going bad. Tyler was awesome and immediately came and tested my battery,alternator, and starter. He helped me find all of my options and the warranty I wanted. My old battery was super corroded and a pain to remove but Tyler kept such a positive attitude and great costumer service. I came in around 5:30pm on a Sunday to get my battery and alternator tested. Angelo helped me right away, ran the test quickly, and confirmed my battery needed replacing. He walked me through the options, grabbed the one I chose, and swapped it out promptly. While I was there I also realized one headlight was out. Angelo had Mohamed help me find what I needed, and then Angelo stepped back in to help install the headlights once he finished with another customer. I was told while having my oil changed that my car was leaking engine coolant. I came to O'Reilly and Tyler chose a coolant that didn't need to be diluted. He chose a funnel and showed me where the coolant goes so if I need to add more I will know where to put it. Thanks Tyler, for helping me understand what to do if it happens again. In the meantime he did urge me to schedule a service appointment which I will do. I appreciate the prompt and friendly help and will return if I need help again. My wife's Corolla needed her headlight bulbs to be replaced so I headed over to O'Reilly to buy a replacement. The first thing that I want to point out is that as long as I've lived in San Ramon, I never even knew that O'Reilly was here. I only noticed it on yelp. Anyway, I had a pleasant experience finding the bulbs. The store was clean and organized and I was quickly able to find the correct lightbulbs for the Corolla because there was a QR code next to the products that told me exactly which ones to get. Once I found them, the cashier was super friendly and I was well on my way. read more

Just walked into the store at 2:50 on a Thursday afternoon March 19 and asked for some help regarding a product l. Instead of getting basic customer service, instead I was greeted with a smirk and laughter and zero effort. The kid behind the counter with a goatee laughed and looked at me funny like I didn't know what I was looking (which I didn't) and the African American man just pointed from behind the counter to the area where the product might be as he commentated my movements like where we playing some game. It's unfortunate to see such little customer service and effort put into a job. The place was empty and I was the only costumer in the store and was treated like trash. These guys most likely make minimum wage and it shows by their work ethic. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

The past couple of days my beloved 2009 Mazdaspeed3 (160k+ miles) has been slow to start in the mornings. I read the reviews where multiple people mention that O'Reilly will install your battery, so I dropped by. When I walked in, I was helped by Tyler. I asked for a battery for my car, and he looked up the type needed. There was a note in the system about needing a different battery type for automatics vs manuals for my model (I drive stick) so he did a bit more research to confirm we get the appropriate battery. While he was checking, I wondered out loud if it really is my battery or if it could be my starter or alternator. Tyler mentioned they could do a quick diagnosis so he grabbed the tester, we went out to my car and he checked the battery/starter/alternator. Once we confirmed everything else was fine, Tyler went ahead and showed me the different batteries available, their price points, and why he would choose one over the other. Armed with his helpful insights, I made my decision. Tyler helped install the battery and took my old one. All the while he was extremely professional and also gave me tips on saving money on maintenance. What a great experience - will definitely come to O'Reilly next time I need help and advice. read more

. I came in this morning to return to bottles of coolant that I bought the night before and didn't end up needing. I really needed to return these cuz I had no gas to get to work I don't think a whole lot of money and when I got to the store a worker in there shouldn't have this handful of it on the table took him in look at my receipt, and said "sorry I don't have cash I have to come back in a little bit". I said okay thinking you know $40 I guess is kind of a lot for the morning so I said should I hang out and come back like 30 minutes an hour and it kind of chuckled and said no I was thinking more like one or two o'clock. And then push just steer me to drive all the way out to Dublin out of my way with no gas so try to return them over there so I walked out kind of bummed trying to figure out what I'm going to do and I said you know what man I got an idea. Clocked in super friendly and said hey man I'm sorry to be a problem on it I don't want to be a pain in your ass but how about if I just return one of them cuz I just really need to get some gas to go to work and in case like man I don't have any money I don't I can't do it. And then push the exterior again to go to Dublin. I reminded him I don't have gas I'm on fumes and I was really hoping I could return this so I can get to work. Instead of trying to help out and come up with the plan or an idea or any way to make me feel better all he could say was. Well that's not my problem". It's hard to believe the big retail store like that doesn't have $20 in there drawer at almost 10:00 in the morning I don't know how they make change for anybody or anything they can break out a $20 bill. I was mad but I'm over it but I just hope this gentleman at the parts counter can maybe learn how to have a little more customer service and be there for the customers that are there spending money at their establishment. read more

Ever since I was a kid me and my dad would go down to the parts store for anything car related he needed and it was this company prior to the name change. Ever since O'Reilly opened up in San Ramon it's the only place I go to. Always friendly staff and top notch customer service. They always have everything I need at good prices. Today I went down to get a battery health check with a battery that has 3 year warranty. Ended up being a bad battery and without hesitation they quickly got me a new battery and replaced it in the parking lot for me. Called to see if they have availability to replace a bulb, as it states on the O'Reilly website that they will replace bulbs with purchase of a new one. The employee (I think his name was John) was very rude and told me that they don't do that there. When I informed him it was on the website, he told me "it's up to the courtesy of whoever is working". I guess he didn't have any courtesy to follow what I was told was store policy. read more

Came here a few months ago to pick up some coolant. I asked the worker behind the counter if they had pre-mixed coolant for American cars in stock. So he says yes and walks me over their coolant display and points out a container stating it would be good. Now remember..I asked for pre-diluted..ready to use coolant..pre-mixed coolant from the get go.. So why is it when I get to the counter, I asked again so this doesn't need to be mixed with anything and the worker again says I should be good with it. I then asked even tho on the front of the bottle says to just add water? He said if I just need to top it off I should be good. So yes, I was sold concentrated coolant. Good thing I know more than just knowing how to put gas in my car..and that I had a bottle of distilled water in my trunk.. I give the guy effort for trying to help tho.. read more

I took a battery in for a free test at the San Ramon store. Returned to collect it 6 days later after receiving NO phone calls, as promised. The little yellow ticket says collect within 7 days so I should have been good. But the service representatives had no idea where my battery was or the outcome of the test either. They lost it! Completely unfazed and unbothered by this situation they offered no apology or recourse for this situation. Had I not asked what they expected me to do with my car at home that had no battery in it they would have quite happily watched me walk out of the door? In the end, after I stood my ground and refused to leave, the assistant manager offered a discount on a new battery. Big deal. So, you "loose" my battery and you still expect to get my business anyway? What a joke. A very unsatisfactory conclusion to a very annoying and very frustrating situation. San Ramon O'Reilly's please tell me why I shouldn't view this as theft? You have my property and refuse to return it to me. Why shouldn't I report this to the police as theft? You know what I might just do exactly that! Absolutely shocking. Beware anyone using this "free" battery testing service...they'll just chuck your battery and try to get your business anyway.
