On a late 3PM lunch turned out to be a 2PM-5PM happy hour which locked us in for half off of a dozen oysters. Our party of four agreed that these had to be one of the best oysters we've had in a while. The service knows their stuff and suggested an oyster type that we weren't sure what it was called but definitely loved his suggestion. My friend and I were craving seafood for lunch, especially oysters. We saw that OSea had a pretty good happy hour oysters ($1.49 each) so we decided to come check it out. The location is conveniently located near downtown Orange circle. As a seafood enthusiast, I got a dozen of their happy hour oysters (six phantom creek and six bahia falsa). The platter came with a yuzu mignonette, tajin lime wedge, and cocktail sauce. The Phantom Creek Canada oysters embodied a harmonious blend of a subtle creaminess/sweetness and a light brininess. On the other hand, the Bahia Flasa Mexico oysters were more smaller, briny and had a light salty finish. Both of them transported me to the sea with every bite. My favorite of the two had to be the Phantom Creek, because the meat was bigger and I love that creaminess and sweet flavor!! Both paired with the yuzu mignonette was absolutely delicious and added a bright citrus and onion flavor to each slurp. Soooo satisfying!! Second dish, the Crispy Oaxaca Shrimp. The crispy exterior was perfect. It had the right amount of batter and the spice level was balanced and had a light Cajun/red pepper taste. I love how the seasoning soaked the fries as well. Omg the fries were also very good, the texture was light yet crispy similar to a fish and chips batter. It was delicious! Third, the Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice was a work of art, a symphony of colors and tastes. The tender tuna atop the perfectly crisp rice was a delectable combination, while the spiciness added an exciting twist that danced on my taste buds. Fourth, the Wild Salmon Ceviche was a refreshing interlude, a zesty medley of flavors that invigorated my senses. It had refreshing watermelon cubes and pear as well. The vibrant colors mirrored the lively atmosphere of the restaurant, and each bite of the citrus season salmon was so good! Fifth, the Albacore Tuna Poke was a celebration of textures and Asian-inspired flavors. The tender albacore tuna paired harmoniously with the fresh vegetables and zesty coconutty marinade, creating a dish that was both satisfying and invigorating. The taro chips was a perfect compliment to the dish. Lastly, the Lil Cheeseburger provided a delightful departure from the seafood-heavy dishes. Despite its diminutive size, the flavors were anything but small. Juicy and flavorful, it was a heartwarming nod to classic comfort, a fitting end to a sensational meal. Absolutely love this place. Have eaten here several times and there are many, consistent positives! The ambience is like a small private place but not pretentious. Super cool. I love their fish tacos, poke starter, and their salads are INCREDIBLE. 1. The service is great. Everyone who works there is bought into the concept and cares quite a bit about your experience 2. They are WINE EXPERTS. And not in a snobby "spend $500 on a bottle" way, but in a "hey you would really like this!" way 3. Great spot! I've passed this place quite a few times while at the Orange Circle and finally had the chance to stop in for happy hour. Upon entry, the host I was very friendly and we got sat right away. We ordered a bottle of wine (half off on happy hour) and the crispy tuna & some oysters. Both options were fantastic! The fish here is super fresh, the oysters & sauce were very tasty! Overall, you could tell they have great quality fish. To top it off, our server was super sweet and attentive. Thank you Mike & Sarah for your generous hospitality. My wife and I were greeted, acknowledged, and welcomed the moment we arrived. I can't remember the last time I experienced all 3 feelings at a restaurant. The best part was that we were taken care of from the beginning to the end. Both, our servers and Sarah checked on us throughout our meal. The food came out on time and the food was delicious as usual. The oysters are always fresh, and I absolutely devoured the double cheeseburger that I ordered. Ask for the habanero sauce (very good). I was also able to try some of the black cod that my wife ordered and the sauce that comes with it packs a lot of flavor. To start, we got some of their salmon ceviche and spicy tuna on crispy rice. B: The salmon ceviche truly slaps. The coconut leche de tigre is a great acidic but rich pairing with the fatty salmon. And anytime I see taro chips, I gotta try some. J: Not to be outdone, I think the spicy tuna crispy rice is kinda crazy. The texture is fantastic, and spicy tuna is always welcome in my book! We also got some Crispy Oaxacan hot shrimp, which was a banger. Not sure what makes it Oaxacan, but you better wah-halk-on over to try this! If you love fried shrimp, it's a must-try! To round it out, we got their Wild Alaskan Black cod off of the seasonal menu. This was my favorite thing. Very unique punchy, fish-saucey flavors adorn this dish. It's so pretty too! I had my 30th birthday here and the staff was super accommodating for my large party of 28, including 8 kids! Thank you so much to Mike for coordinating with me in the lead up to the event. Cute small restaurant in Orange. Ordered the calamari, octopus à la plancha, oysters and the crispy Oaxacan hot shrimp. I was expecting elevated Mexican fusion seafood flavors suggested by some of the menu language but left disappointed. No complaints on the service, just the flavors and confusing "fusion" menu. The hot shrimp, tasted good but more like buffalo wings. They weren't spicy at all. They also looked like buffalo wings in color which didn't help their case. The shrimp though were large in size and a good snack. The octopus was okay and had very crispy potato cubes COVERED in pesto underneath which was a confusing concept if thinking elevated Mexican but beautifully plated I'll give it that. The oysters were okay. I think that's more on the variety offered and personal preference. Plump something and I can't recall the other kind but they were okay for me. Maybe I'll like the next offering. As for the calamari, it was not memorable outside of the Oaxacan chili oil. If I were to go again, I'd probably take someone who can't handle spicy flavors but want a safe choice of fresh seafood meal in a cute place with familiar easy on the palate flavors. My husband and I went to O Sea for a date night last evening, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The menu offers a good variety of seafood as well as some "turf" options, and the beer and wine selection is outstanding. We had the crab cakes, the shrimp aguachile, the burrata with apricot mostarda, and the fish and chips. The crab cakes were flavorful and perfectly cooked, and the shrimp was tasty as well. There was a bit too much apricot mostarda on the burrata that overpowered the fennel and basil in the dish, but taking some of it off solved that problem, and it was yummy. As for the fish and chips - wow! I'm not a huge fish and chips person, but the fish was mild, and it was not overly battered - nice and light. The chips were super crispy too! My bf and I came here on a Friday night last week during the OC Restaurant week event. I was a bit worried after reading some reviews (one even said that their OCRW menu of the cioppino has maybe 2 pieces of seafood!). So when I was there, I asked our waitress if the portion on the OCRW is a sample size or full size, and she said that beside the ceviche, everything was full size! Phew! So, if you missed the OCRW last week, you might want to keep an eye out for the next one! O Sea was one of my favorites for the event! Despite some not too satisfied reviews, I was glad I still went and tried them out anyway! We loved our experience!! It was a rainy night but they were pretty crowded! They only have 2 tables for outdoor dinning and their awning is not big so you will get wet if it's raining. I would always pick indoor unless it's a warm dry day! For food, we got the oyster and ceviche as starters, seafood cioppino and seared scallops as main, and the chocolate cake and Thai tea blondie sundae for dessert! Everything was absolutely delicious and so flavorful! Our cioppino was so yummy and big! There were tons of seafood and 4 pieces of their grilled bread. The scallops were big and so flavorful! I also really like their salmon ceviche! The flavor of the curry paired nicely with other ingredients! and the sweet potato/taro chips! Yum! As for desserts, the portion were huge!!! The chocolate cake was so big and the warm fudge was oozing down the plate! The Thai tea blondie sundae, this was soooo good, though I did not taste the Thai tea, I thought it was caramel apple! A must get here is the whole sea bass with tortillas! It was fresh, flavorful and fun to wrap little tacos with it. I also really liked the grilled octopus. The oysters were very fresh, but pretty small. The cod burrito was extremely underwhelming we had a little cube of cod and we had to unwrap the whole thing just to make sure there was any fish. I was looking for a place to catch up with a friend over drinks and appetizers. This was the perfect place for that: good music at the right volume, interesting wine selection, and a small menu of appetizers. The staff was helpful with suggestions and let us hang out chatting well past the point of empty plates and glasses. I am vegetarian but was still able to order something from the menu--an avocado toast with grilled bread and peppers. Delicious! I ordered a really interesting orange wine from Greece. I can't speak to the seafood that my friend ordered, but she said she would order again. The prices were fair. The entrance was a little hidden (I passed by a few times!) and they have with a floor plan that's more a fit for casual dining, but they have a lot of positive points and I hope to return. read more

This is my second time going to O Sea. The first time I went was around their opening. They have changed the restaurant dining style to full service now, which is great. Initially they had you order the food first then sit at a table, which I found odd. Today being Sunday, we decided on linner seafood munchies. This spot was perfect and bonus was happy hour. We ordered a dozen of Oysters (from Washington and Mexico), the Salmon Ceviche, and the awesome half off a bottle of wine deal. We went with a sweet and crisp Riesling from Mosel, Germany. Again, a perfect addition to out Sunday. The sweetness paired well the fresh seafood. The first time I was here was for a solo lunch and I brought my laptop in for to do some work. I really like their vibe. You have the old brickwork and wood ceiling of the old towne architecture. The modern and fresh look with the white hints of ocean-esque colors of blue, green, and yellow works. It's comforting and provides a nice ambiance to dine. Even the natural light from the skylight adds on to the fresh vibe. Service was fabulous! The host was friendly and knowledgeable of the restaurant's history. Our server made great recommendations on the wine. Food wise, ot was the sandwich board outside that called to us. It said "Oystahs!" *insert yum emoji* I will definitely be going back and trying the non happy hour menu, which I took a glance at. The scallops and mussels in green curry sound delightful so I'll know what I'll be getting next time. ...and a quick update! The "host" happened to be the General Manager, Mike. Located right before the Orange Circle lies the hidden gem known as O Sea. The interior is modern, simple, well spaced, warm, and cozy. The staff casual, friendly, and helpful. For started tried the Kumamoto oysters which were sweet and not briny; the wild Alaskan black cod buttery, smooth, and rich; the wild Chilean Sea Bass mild, savory, and delicate; and the Thai Mill Tea blondie sundae was sweet and creamy but more reminiscent of a caramel sundae vs the revered beverage. The real only downside may be portion size as left feeling hungry. It's a restaurant established in the middle as not value oriented but not overpriced and they do a nice job of fusion creations with an all seafood menu. I ordered mussels and a salad. Both tasted excellent. My complaint is with the mussels. One was served that hadn't opened at all and a second was served just partially opened. If a mussel stays closed, it usually means it was already dead before cooking. Dead shellfish can spoil quickly and harbor bacteria or toxins. The chef never should have served these. This is a food safety issue. I pointed it out to the server, but never heard anything about my concern. read more

However, we did end up finding a free parking lot right behind o sea that had a lot of spaces available. The restaurant itself is simple and cute. While, I did love the ambience of this place, I wished I could say the same for the food. Personally, the dishes did not align with my tastebuds, it might be different for everyone else though! I find that the food here lacked seasoning, perhaps they were going for a more clean and healthy palette? Food: OYSTERS 4/5: any oysters that I didn't get a stomach ache is great. The oyster was on the smaller side. The taste was still fresh, but could be sweeter. I was not too into the red ball fruit they got going but that's optional. SALMON CEVICHE 2.5/5: fish to chip ratio is kinda crazy. They gave us barely any fish but lots of chips. The sauce was a Thai basil creamy sauce, but it was really bland and underwhelming. The fish was also warm? I'm not too familiar with that since usually the ceviche I have was served cold. This dish is not worth the price. YELLOWTAIL FISH TACO 3/5: surprisingly the tacos were relatively cheap for the location that I'm dining at. However, it would've been great if the fish had more seasoning to it. Yellowtail had a grassy taste. The taco didn't have much going beside some shredded cabbage, several cubes of diced tomatoes, creamy sauce, and cilantro. The one thing I did like about this is that the fish batter was thin. I think people who eat healthy would enjoy this. COD FISH TACO 3.5/5: same as the yellowtail, but the cod fish tasted better. Had less of that grassy fish taste. The fish had a sweet meat, but a little dry. read more

First the interior of the restaurant was very open with the high ceiling and has a nice decor. Our server Ava was really good, very attentive, and provided good recommendations since it was our first time dining here. The highlight of this restaurant is the amazing food. We started with the oysters in a half shell which was very fresh and tasted really good. We then had the clam chowder which was also amazing having fresh shell clams and bacon.
