This place is right out of an old Italian movie. Red checked table cloths, homey atmosphere, yummy scents coming from the kicthen. I absolutely love it. I wasn't feeling very good the day I came with my friends so I opted to have a salad. i ordered the tomato and mozerella salad and it was HUGE. And fresh and delicious. The bread they brought out was fresh and warm. And the customer service was fantastic. They really know their stuff. And if you want something that's not on the menu they will work with you to get ou what you want. Great place for a date or family dinner. read more

I honestly can say I love this place for Italian food. Italian food in itself is heavy but this place does it right. Portions are huge but not overly saucy. Reason I gave 3 stars is for service. I made a reservation for 6:30. No one acknowledged us for over 10 mins until I asked the waiter and he sat us down after. After sitting down, no one came to take our order for 30 MINS!!!! The guy that sat us down, gave us bread and water and told us he'll let our waiter know we're ready but the waiter never came by After 30 mins I got tired of waiting especially since I had a baby who was sleeping so time is of the essence!! I had to flag down the manager (I assumed, wore a tie) and he came and took our order. Never once did our "waitress" come to introduce herself or helped us. The only time we saw her was when she came with our food. She kind of plopped it down and left. We never saw her again. The manager came by to refill our waters, get Togo boxes etc! We're the type of people who gives generous tips but in this case we were left to give 15% because we knew she was going to get a part of it and she totally didn't deserve it at all!! It is fresh and quite tasty, especially paired with a glass of red wine. Make sure you come hungry, because these are some serious portions! This is a great restaurant for both family occasions such as birthdays, or if you and your honey just want to go out and have a nice casual meal. This is a great place if you are looking for Italian food in millbrae. When we have a large group for dinner, this is the spot. They have this big room on the side and is almost always able to accommodate our 10+ group. Don't mistaken this for a dead restaurant. They always have lots of people dining there. Just not large groups. Now onto the food.... The food here is pretty good. Mind you it's not THE best italian food I've ever had, but I have never have bad italian food here. Pretty consistent on their quality. The steak is pretty decent. I had shrimp and salmon linguine tonight and liked it rather well. I can definitely tell the shrimp was fresh. Very slow service but average Italian food. They have a huge selection of pastas and other classic Italian dishes, so there is definitely something for everyone. First off, I will commend them for their bread, as it was hot, crusty, and delicious. I had the baked rigatoni with meat sauce and cheese, which was piping hot and pretty good. The linguini with fresh clams was awesome, great clam flavor, but the linguine was soggy. Man, if that pasta was cooked correctly that would have been a delicious plate of food. Chicken piccata portion was a little small, and the grilled salmon was well-received. Overall, you pretty much know what you're going to get at a place like this. It's definitely a solid family restaurant and a good place to get your carb fix, but I wouldn't expect anything above average. read more

Last weekend my boyfriend came in for a delish dinner. I ordered the lobster pasta(omg soooooo good) and he had the Fettuccini Pescatore ( he loved it) Everything about it was so romantic and perfect. Our server (sorry for butchering her name Athena?) was soooo sweet and made our dinner magical. She was super personable and friendly. We couldn't decide between Nonnis puffs or the tiramisu, she recommended tiramisu and it did not disappoint. We loved it so much. Overall, it's a 4 star experience with the food quality, service and ambience. I'm marking it down one star because of its pizza - I didn't like it at all. The ambience is great. It's romantic and cozy. The service is fast and the waitresses are very friendly and have a great sense of humor. We ordered Penne with Sausage & Peppers and Pizza with Clams & Garlic to share. I love the penne and it tastes really authentic. The pizza, on the other hand, is very bready and I can't really taste the clam or garlic well. I'm going to give this place a 3 star. The food is on par with average Italian, but it's not fancy Italian by any means. I've been here twice now, the first time I got the ravioli and meatballs, the second time I got the fetticini alfredo. The ravioli and meatballs were very "average" so completely edible, but nothing memorable / extra savory about them. The fetticini alfredo was a bit better, just what I needed on a day when I wanted to eat some fetticini alfredo. The wait staff is ok, but if they're busy beware, they may forget to do the normal "we'll be with you shortly" as we found out one Friday night where we were only acknowledged when they finally had a seat for us, that was a bit odd. It's nice enough to take your partner and them feel special, and close enough (if you live near Milbrae) to enjoy and not have to worry about paying the baby sitter more than you expected. So if that description is not you, come here on a Thursday or a normal weekend and you will not have to wait long at all. As you sit, Sinatra will serenade you the entire time. The food here is good. The waiting staff is kind. It is run a little like no one has been a waiter before and yet has a general idea of what they are doing. It's relaxed like that and yet still nice feeling. This is a wonderful neighborhood Italian Restaurant. Came here for dinner with my friend. The service is friendly and the food excellent. I tried the Pumpkin Ravioli baked in a light cream, mozzarella, & parmigiana sauce. The ravioli was tender and filled generously. The cream sauce was salty, creamy and delicious. Despite the heavy ingredients the ravioli was light. I could have eaten 2 portions, it was so good!!!! I will definitely be returning. read more

So we Googled it and up games o solo Mio. my husband and I remember going to O Sole Mio in San Francisco so we thought we'd give this one a try and so glad that we did. Everything was the same as the one in the city so I'm glad to know that this place is here. Service here was very good but the food was even better! The quality of food and the quantity of food was very adequate. The desserts were even better! I have the best tiramisu I ever had. I would give this place 3 stars but the food is way too tasty to be that mean. Just do not come here on a Sunday night. It's packed and they're waiting lobby is way too dense. I went with a party of 4 and it took about an hour and a half before we finally got our meals. But luckily all that waiting was worth it and we were eating fantastic dishes. My girlfriend got one of their pizzas which was phenomenal as I ordered Fettuccine Alfredo. Even their bread is amazing. It's also a loud atmosphere so if you're looking to have a nice quite night out then don't come here. This is a hidden gem in Millbrae. The staff is super nice. The food is really good. It's not the most updated restaurant but it's Italian and we are not known for updating anything but what's in our fridge really sooooooo :) I am planning to have a family celebration here. Comfort table for 4 although only 2 of us, away from families so everyone had their own space to enjoy. Warm sourdough bread had a nice tang, chew and crunchy crust. Friendly server from Brooklyn made my husband feel right at home in tha NYC kind of way! Lasagne excellent and a bargain. Veal picata the best I have ever had... tender, lemony, loaded with capers and generous portion. Used the check in to get a very good tiramisu. Even the decaf coffee wasn't bad! A hidden gem for Italian food My boyfriend and I were seated right away. Soft baked bread is served with Olive oil & vinegar to add. Our waitress was very kind & attentive. I ordered the Gnocchi Pesto pasta & my bf ordered the Linguini w/ Salmon & shrimp pasta & tbh his dish was better than mine. this was a very disappointing visit. the garden salad was not fresh, had clearly been made hrs before (browned lettuce, dry wilted carrots) and then when my meal came: ravioli with italian sausage, the sausage was COLD as in frozen and barely defrosted cold. A waiter took my plate and instead of plating a fresh entree they MICRoWAVED it or stuck it in the oven to heat up the sausage. come now, you all know better and you served a customer uncooked food. no apology, more like "oh well". i loved this place for yrs when i lived in millbrae but will hesitate to visit again. read more

Yelped Italian food as soon as we landed at SFO, and this was the closest so we decided to try it out. It's advertised as a little bit of North Beach in Millbrae, and that's exactly what it looks/feels like upon walking in. Kitschy, but cozy and interesting decor with friendly service. My bf ordered the spaghetti with olive oil and garlic, which was not lacking on the thinly sliced garlic at all. I ordered a pesto spaghetti, that although was simple was not at all basic. This is my all time favorite Italian restaurant. Tastes authentic and fresh. My favorites are the pizza margarita, chicken Cesar salad and the chicken alfredo but you cant go wrong with anything you order because it's all so good!
