Came in for sushi with a friend...turned out I LOVED the Korean BBQ!!! So much fun! Went back a few weeks later for my daughter's birthday and we got a TON of food! My daughter is obsessed with all things Japanese and wanted birthday sushi...turns out she apparently likes Korean BBQ too! We are not from the area. However, after our trip to Safari West, we decided to dine here. We literally yelped it. We stopped by around 4:30pm today. Since it was not busy, we were seated right away. We were starving from a long day trip. So we ordered quite a bit of food for 3 assuming the portion would be medium. So we ordered 7 pcs Nigiri, a dragon rolls, a una tem roll, 1 bento w/chicken teriyaki, gyoza, mixed tem and another bento w/salmon teriyaki, mixed tem, tem shrimp roll. When the food was served, we were surprised by the robotic cat! It was so cute! I didn't notice that they have one. Food: Nigiri - fresh and big slices of fish. I don't eat raw but my bf enjoyed it. Dragon roll/Una Tem roll - very tasty! I love that the rice portion was just right. They don't try to stuff you with rice. Bento: both bentos were huge portion. We were so surprised! Everything was delicious and flavorful. I especially love love love their tempura. They fried them to perfection. Really crispy and not saggy at all. Their miso and house salad awere also yummy! The service was great as well. No complaint. Even though we are not from the area and have to drive over an hour to get here, we will definitely return to enjoy their food! HIGHLY RECOMMEND PS. Wow, I'm not easily impressed and O! Sushi blew me away. I didn't have high hopes, even with all the good reviews from the unassuming location and so few people but as soon as I walked in and heard the phone ringing constantly I knew we made the right dining choice. My friend and I split a roll and sushi rrito and ate at one of the two outdoor tables at the restaurant. We were first given a really large helping of pickled ginger which we both greatly appreciated because a lot of places really skimp on this. Both of our jumbo rrito and new bay bridge roll were amazing with tons of fish and a sparing amount of rice. We just sat for a little while after our meal and were given fried Oreos on the house as a on the house desert. We've been coming here for years, but for some reason, it changed. What happened? 1) The waiters who have been there for years are gone. They were great! Friendly, efficient, and made sure we got what we ordered. The last few times I've gone to pick up food, there has only been one waiter and she doesn't seem to be able to speak English very well. I asked for my order under my wife's name but she didn't seem to understand me. I asked a few times and then she just shows me the ticket on the food. There's my wife's name, exactly as I had been asking but she wasn't able to confirm without me reading it. 2) The last couple of times I picked up food, there hasn't been any chopsticks included. I forgot to ask, but seriously, is it a problem to simply include those on to-go orders? 3) Wasabe. Really? I got almost a pea sized portion wiped onto the side of the container where it should be included. Unacceptable. 4) There seems to be a new "robot" that shuttles food to tables. For goodness sake, stop with the gimmicky stuff and handle actual restaurant stuff like getting food to customers on time! Two times ago, our to-go order was held up for 25 minutes because one item hadn't been made. We ordered online and were given a time to show up when our food would be ready. When we got there, it was all ready except for the one item which we had to wait an additional 25 minutes for! The rest of the food got cold. 5) On to-go orders of soup, we've had 3 different kinds of containers in the past three to-go orders. Each seems to have gotten smaller and holds less soup. And the soup is no longer piping hot. We're looking for another Japanese restaurant to patronize because things have gone way too far downhill for us to spend our hard earned money here any longer. We want a place with friendly, efficient waiters who will take care of us. We want a place that puts more emphasis on food and food quality rather than kitschy "robots" to deliver food to the table. What a gem and my go to for Japanese food in the heart of Roseland in Santa Rosa. It is located in a strip mall and not easy to see. Inside provides a place for lunch or dinner for 2 or 4 or a party. This time, a couple sat at the sushi bar after wine tasting. Why I know, they brought a newly purchased bottle from the winery to accompany their Japanese food. Even at mid afternoon, the restaurant was busy. There were many take out orders by phones and walk ins as we enjoyed out late lunch. My one friend doesn't eat raw fish, but he accommodated her and designed rolls that worked for her. They were amazed by the food. Everything was SO good we cleaned our plates. We were going to order 1 more roll but the waitress said we ordered a lot of food. So we have only got 3 rolls instead of 4 and we're so thankful she warned us. Because we got so much food it would have been too much with that extra roll. Most places just want you to spend $$$ and won't tell you you're ordering too much. So that was awesome. Also my hubby ordered 3 different fish of nigiri and they were out of one , the halibut , so they gave us a snapper to try instead and said if we didn't like it, they wouldn't charge us. He liked it but they still gave us a free dessert for the inconvenience. Now that is excellent customer service!!! O! Sushi is serving up some consistently delicious sushi. Most recently I stopped on my way home for some takeout. Typically I find sushi takeout is a hit or miss. Thankfully O! Sushi is a hit and tastes just as good from home as in the restaurant. On this particular visit I took home two rolls. I wanted a smaller roll and a larger roll. I decided on the Titanic (salmon, tuna, crab, avocado) and the spicy hamachi roll. Both contained some amazingly fresh fish and drizzled with delicious sauces. Highly recommend both these rolls. My nephew has been bragging about this place for a long time. So tonight my granddaughter wanted sushi, so we decided to try it out. What a good decision! Her crunchy California roll was scrumptious as was the appetizer sized mixed tempura. I opted for chicken teriyaki and was surprised at the quantity of food presented. There was salad and miso soup for starters followed by a giant sizzling plate of teriyaki and a bowl of steamed rice. Delicious and plenty for lunch or dinner tomorrow. Service was pleasant and unobtrusive. Decor was quietly Japanese with a few unobtrusive televisions tuned to different stations--soccer and Korean K-pop. Ohh sushi how I wish you were much closer to where I live. Definitely worth the drive over. I live an hour away and would drive passed sushi mambo in Calistoga and drive an extra 30 minutes for this sushi. I tried the New Mexico, inferno scallop, caliente and lion king rolls with my boyfriend. All were really good. Definitely a top 3 for us.
