I decided to have pizza for a late lunch on a Saturday here at O4W. The establishment sits in the heart of downtown Duluth along side a few other places like Truck and Tap and Nacho Daddy. The restaurant was pretty empty so I got there at a perfect time. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is because of customer service. I wasn't really greeted or served much but the pizza was great! I decided to get their signature pie which is the Grandma Pie. It is basically a square margarita pizza. The pizza was made to order and the ingredients were fresh. The fresh mozzarella could have been melted a little more but still delicious! The crust was crispy yet chewy on the inside. I will definitely be back to try different pies! read more

You NEVER get a second chance to make a first impression and this place failed miserably. Eating is an experience that can be made or broken by several things such as decor, smells, and most of service. First of all there is no sign to find the place. Who do they think they are a cool trendy night club? I have no problem with the hole in the wall look and the smells were good but the inexperienced little girl at counter Needs a lot of training on customer service. We just about walked out but I was too hungry so we stayed anyway. As for the pizza and sandwich. They were OK but not worth the half hour drive to get here. read more

04W has been my go-to place for pizza for about three years - I absolutely LOVE all of their Grandma pies and Sicilians. But - I am just... really exhausted with the abysmal customer service. I feel like when I order here, I need a back up plan, because there's a 50/50 chance I may not be receiving pizza. I expect long wait times - and I don't mind waiting. I expect to pay almost $30 per pizza - and to me that's worth it. But this was the fourth time I've arrived to pick up a pizza just to be informed inside that they had canceled my order because they were closing early. The manager offered me a verbal agreement for a discount on a pizza the following day... but I'm just done. read more

DON'T WASTER YOUR TIME OR MONEY!! Since O4W opened in Duluth I have often enjoyed their Meatball Parn Sub sandwich which I have often recommended as the best in ATL. No longer! The sub came served in crumbled up tin foil with the previously wonderful melted cheesed embedded in and unremovable from the foil. My polite effort to point this out to what appeared to be the owner/manager (she had been sitting at a back table turned into an office with computer and papers/files) was greeted with a nasty "I'll give you a refund"! After explaining I was not after a refund, and would not accept one, but simply wanted to let them know about what I judged to be below their usual standards, I went back to trying to eat the sub. It got worse and the cooling cheese was literally adhering to the foil. The sub could not be picked up to eat nor could much of it be separated from the foil. The rude initial treatment encouraged me to approach her with the exhibit of what the sub had deteriorated into. Her treatment became even more nasty and confrontational when she snapped "I'm not going to argue with you . . . you're the only one to ever complain about this". I certainly have NEVER been treated so rudely at a restaurant! read more

My wife and I had been wanting to check out O4W for quite some time as we finally made our way a couple weeks ago. And, in one word it was all DELICIOUS! Luckily, we didn't have to drive very far as it's right in Duluth, but I must say parking is a bit of challenge in that area so try avoiding "typical dinner hours" or you may have to circle around the area before finding a spot. That said, we were fortunate to find parking and head on over... The outside does appear small with minimal signage (but it's right across Pure Taqueria). When entering inside, it was uber busy, tight quarters, but ample seating outside (they have two sections: front and back) so my wife and I were seated outside underneath twinkle lights. We didn't have to wait long at all as we were seated within three minutes; helps to come a little later as noted above. Our waitress came right away and took our drink orders and stopped by momentarily to get our appetizer order. SERVICE = GREAT (everyone was friendly, paid attention and didn't forget about us, refilled our drinks when they were low, and helpful with recommendations on the appetizer and pizza). For an appetizer, my wife and I chose to get their Rice Balls; made out of risotto, pecorino, and mozzarella. It was the perfect portion size (4 come in a plate) and they were very soft and easy to cut through. My only feedback would be that I wished it was a bit more warm and sizzling --- some bites were lukewarm while majority seemed a bit cold. Not a huge bother, but would've tasted better if warm(er). Thereafter, we placed our pizza order and went with the famous "Grandma Pie". It's as advertised (see picture below) as it was super delicious and the best I've had in a while vs the normal chain pizzas. The marinara sauce was perfect, perfect amount of mozzarella cheese, and all topped with fresh basil and oregano. Sometimes simple is perfect. I must add, on one half of the pizza we did add pepperoni (and folks, it was so fresh it was the best I've had with the perfect spice). Next time, I'm definitely going to order "Tony Pepperoni" as I'm sure that's incredible. Nonetheless, the pizza was large enough for two people (had leftover to bring) and would highly recommend it. It is a bit pricey (see menu picture below) but worth it once in a while. I must warn you, the pizza does take approximately 15-20 minutes to make it...so do prep for it. Additionally, I hear their Caesar salad is great...so give that a try (I shall next time). FOOD = AWESOME (if it wasn't pricey, I'd order pizza from here all the time --- may have to not have pizza for a while and just get quality pizza from here). Everything tasted fresh from the dough to all the toppings. Being that it's in Downtown Duluth, don't feel you have to dress up to come here. You can come in any attire and feel very comfortable; it's a pizza place so just be ready to eat. AMBIENCE = CHILL (no dress code and twinkle lights give it a great appeal). I just wish there was more signage as someone can easily walk by it, not knowing this is O4W. Overall, my wife and I were very pleased with our service and food and will definitely be coming back to try more things off the menu. read more

This was my first and last time at this location. I ordered the "I love pepperoni Detroit style" pizza and was told it would be a 45 minute wait. No problem, there were alot of people there. We walked around for about 30 minutes and returned to check on the pizza only to find out they had done nothing as they realized they didn't have the ingredients they needed to make the pizza until they started our pizza. I then ordered just a plain pepperoni pizza. They told us it would be ready in 10 minutes. In 10 minutes I returned to pick up my pizza, walked down the street to eat it with my family only to find it was a plain cheese pizza!! We took a bite of it just to make sure they didn't grind the pepperoni or something;they don't! Now I'm frustrated. I then go back to show them and they tell me they didn't realize I wanted pepperoni but agreed to fix it. They took the pizza and placed it on top of the oven. I then got worried they would give it to someone else especially after we already took a bite. 5 minutes later they give us our "new" pizza!! They warmed up some pepperoni's and threw them on top of my old cheese pizza!! I then asked them how they would feel if they got a pizza that looked like this with the pepperoni thrown all over it and some not even on the pizza. He tells me, he can rearrange the pepperoni's more neatly if I wanted them to. After 1.5 hours of waiting I absolutely couldn't wait any longer! Got the spicy Italian with grandma's pie and it was delicious! Love it crispy and crunchy! Came here for the first rime on Mother's Day. A server kept bringing the wrong order to our table but apologized. Staffed was very friendly. But it took long for the food to come out. That's the only downfall. It's also understanding because we did come on a "holiday" if you consider Mother's Day to be one. We would have to give it a try on a regular day. Definitely coming back! read more

I really wanted to love this place. I really wanted to bite into their notorious Grandma pizza, lean back in my seat and bask under the cheesy, garlicky glow of the Pizza Gods. I was left deprived of that sweet glow - confused, shivering and dissatisfied by this famous, yet underperforming establishment. The pie itself was a little high, $23.00, and while it was "big", two people with an appetite could do serious damage. Located in a relatively centralized location in Duluth, my date and I went for lunch around 2pm and there wasn't a SOUL in there. Needless to say, the staff were kind, attentive and the pizza came out in maybe 10 mins. The pizza wasn't good enough and the menu wasn't large enough to comeback or recommend you visit. Despite this angelic doggie face, I'm a pretty impatient person. So much so, I'm willing to drive to Duluth for cheesy bread as oppose to waiting an hour at Nina and Rafi for the goods. Since it's located in downtown Duluth, I wanted to bring my dog, but man oh man, were my Spidey Senses tingling, because when I called to see if that was alright, they said no dogs allowed, even in the patio seating. Eh, not the end of the world, but disappointing. We ordered birch beer and cheesy bread to go. Hey, sometimes I need to give my liver a break too. Cheesy bread was great, as always. It's exactly like the one from Nina & Rafi's, minus the wait. Birch beer was pretty good too. Coming from Chicago I've learned about good pizza but do not mind the chain pizza spots! This particular evening we wanted a pizza with a homegrown taste...you know!! Just a really good pizza! After minutes of researching and reading reviews we decided on this place. I can't explain my review system but it usually works. Well I was not impressed with O4W pizza and it's a bit pricey. I ordered a thin crust pepperoni and I understand the more ingredients the less the pizza holds together but I had one topping and my pizza fell apart and was very messy to eat. Pizza here is always great! The location has been struggling a bit because they don't have enough staff. They have bounced back though and created a new way to "dine in". You order from your table from their website and they bring it out. Brilliant! Overheard lots of complainers while we were there, but I'm just glad this place is still open. We ordered carry out and I have to say it just wasn't the same. One of the things I used to love about O4W spicy Italian pie was their amazing sauce. There was so little of it on this pie that I couldn't tell if it was the original recipe or not. The other item that has changed is the dollops of fresh ricotta. I came to O4W because I've been craving Detroit style rectangle pizza. I don't know why.. I just have! My friends and I ordered a Caesar salad, mozzarella sticks, an I Love Pepperoni, and a Spicy Italian Grandma. There were 3 of us... We had almost everything leftover. That seemed to be a common theme around the restaurant. Just be forewarned that a pizza here can easily feed 4 people, but the leftover slices made a perfect lunch the next day. The are some leaks in the ceiling that resulted in water constantly dripping on three tables in the indoor dining area. That's pretty unsanitary, so I hope they fix that soon! read more

I ordered the bruschetta, it was ok. I believe the bread was too hard, but the bread looks likenits made fresh daily. Johnny's New York style bruschetta is better in Suwanee. The pizza is amazing!!! Although they seem to still be working out some kinks, we really enjoyed the pizza. We had the famous Grand Ma Pie with sausage and the Mr. DiMarco. You can taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients. I love pizza and have tried it all over the North East, Chicago, Rome, Naples, you name it. This pizza is legit and truly unique. It's a little pricey but the quality is commensurate. Just fantastic. The desserts were pretty good as well. I just bought a pizza bag to transport take out back to my house. Can't wait to try the wood fire oven pies which they are not offering yet because they still need to vent the oven. This place is a must try and is literally a blessing for those of us in this part of town who know quality pizza. I can hardly contain my excitement. One star deducted for service. There were some general problems with speed, drink refills, etc but it was pretty clear that much of the back and front of house staff was new and things will improve. REAL DEAL!!! Went here for the 1st time last week. Had the GrandMa and Jersey Round pies. Just awesome. If you truly enjoy excellent pizza you need to come here. Especially if you want a change from all the Fu-Fu Napulitana pizza places that are popping up all over now. If you're looking for ambiance, then go to those other places. If you want to pig out on some delicious pizza and salads, then I highly recommend O4W Pizza... Eat it there, right out of the oven. I have come to O4W several times over the last six months. I originally came for the legendary Grandma's Pie. And it definitely did not disappoint. O4W offers basically 4 different styles of pizza. I had to test them all. The toppings are plentiful on each pie. Grandma's Pie is hands down the best. The savory house marinara on top of a tasty crisp crust that has such a wonderful blend of flavors and really gets your mouth watering. Best to be eaten at the restaurant, hot out of the oven. Leftover's are not quite the same and may be best eaten cold. Detroit Pie. This was a smaller pizza with a big thick crust. If you like it thick, this might be for you. I just didn't care for how thick the crust is. The marinara and toppings were all there. Old fashioned pizza has a nice thin pan crust. This was similar to the Grandma's Pie but lacked some of the flavor, the basil and oil and fresh mozzarella. I enjoyed the leftovers cold the next day. The round pie is you typical round pizza with a basic tomato sauce. They load up the toppings where every bite has a mix of toppings. I liked this pizza more than I thought I would. The leftovers heated up in the oven were very good. A better sauce could make the round pie standout. I ordered pepperoni on all of the pizzas and they do not get skimpy. If you come here, you must get the Grandma's Pie without a doubt. It really packs a punch of flavor and that sauce is terrific. It can be messy. The pizza can be cooked inconsistent and the amount of sauce on top can vary. But each pie was excellent. I found all of their pizza to be tasty. Grandma's pie and old fashioned pizza were the best to me personally. read more

I love pizza--who doesn't and this place doesnt dissapoint. I am usually a sausage and peppers kind of girl but my friend was adamant about me trying the "grandma's slice" I am SO glad I did--I may never go back. It is delicious. Crust is crunchy with the perfect amount of burnt on cheese (I love that flavor) They have some really fun sodas as well-although I cant remember off the top of my head. They only sell slices for lunch and then you buy an entire pie during evening/weekend hours. Definitely try to come for lunch and see what you like. read more

You'll be very happy. Three of us came for dinner on a Thursday night at 5pm. we spent $124 for three pizzas (2 gluten-free, 1 regular), two glasses of wine, one beer, and a 20% tip. Thats not a casual bill for pizza. For that price, you deserve the whole experience. First, its HOT AS HELL in this place. I'm talking 90 degrees. Unbearably hot. Sweat-running-down-your-face-while-you're-eating-hot-pizza-hot. The pipes in the ceiling were sweating and dripping on the table hot. I kid you not. I asked the hostess, and she said its because the pizza ovens. Ummm, I've been to hundreds of pizza places in my 50-years-on-this-planet, and this is a first. If I'm paying $100 for your pizza, make me comfortable in your establishment. Another small nit; they were out of both the beer, and wine that we ordered, and its a small list. That was disappointing. if you have only 4 beers on tap, you must maintain it. I can't explain how hot it was. So uncomfortable. Had to leave. good pizza though. Service was fine. read more

Pretty good pizza! We got their Grandmas special (Detroit Style) and it didn't disappoint. The thick crust is definitely filling! The fresh mozzarella and basil is what makes this pie. Go for a pitcher of sangria as well. Lots of fresh fruit in the drink, it will keep you coming back for more. The uniqueness of this pizza coupled with its location in downtown Duluth makes for a great date night spot. Don't hesitate! read more

Oh boy, that was bad. Not sure what happened, but we didn't have anywhere near the experience the rest of these people seem to have had! I see O4W all over social media, everyone always talking about how they made the trip faaaar our to the burbs for it and it was worth it. Well, we just drove down the street a couple miles and - quite frankly - we'd drive elsewhere next time. It was awful. We normally order our pizza well done, but I forgot to do that on this occasion. Good thing, as the not well done pizza was more well done than any pizza I've ever gotten. I love a good char, but this wasn't that - it was literally like it had been sitting directly under a heat lamp for an hour. It was dried out, hard and awful. Aside from that, this was the most flavorless pizza I've ever had. We ordered The Works, which should have a little flavor, but no. Sausage, pepperoni, onions, sauce...all totally flavorless. The peppers? (Bell peppers, mind you) Yeah, they were bitter af and all you could taste on the flavorless pie. Have I said awful yet? Because it was awful. What a shame. read more
