It was OK for a quick lunch. I needed to grab something to eat before graduation at Gas South Arena and it did the job. I got the meatball appetizer and it was OK. The presentation was nice with melted cheese on top and the portion was a good value. The service was pretty good. The hostess forgot to grab a menu for me, so I had to ask her to get one. I didn't know who my server was, but saw a lady taking orders at the table next to me so I asked her for a check. They were super quick, but service seemed disjointed. The food is good and the prices are great, but I really wish they would invest a little money into the upkeep of the restaurant. I almost didn't go in because right outside the front door there was a giant dead cockroach. That's not a great first impression, at the very least, please keep your entrance clean. YUCK!!!!! Inside, the benches are peeling, the dining room doesn't feel very clean, and the bathroom is old and smelly. Honestly, after using the bathroom, I considered leaving without ordering. Now for the good part: the food is actually pretty good, and the prices are very reasonable. Maybe that's how they keep costs low, by not focusing on aesthetics but a little more attention to cleanliness and maintenance would go a long way. read more

This review is reflective of the service. I ordered a pizza to go at the counter, and took a seat in the waiting area. After waiting, and waiting, and waiting, I finally went up to the counter and inquired about my pizza. The cashier, not the one who took my order, was looking perplexed like she couldn't find the order ticket. Then one of the staff who makes the pizzas reached up to the top of the oven and handed it to her. How long would I have sat there before I was notified the pizza was ready? Not once was my name called to notify me my order was ready. I do not have time to waste sitting in a waiting area when my order is ready. The pie was ok, but I will certainly be looking for another pizza place based on this service. read more

The food service and ambience were all really nice at the Vinny's New York Pizza and Grill in Duluth. It was our first time at this location. It has no relationship to the two locations in Buford. We really enjoyed the nice atmosphere and ambiance the dining room had. The nice pictures of Northern Italy's Cinque Terre area. Our server was also very nice and friendly and welcoming. We thought the medium Works pizza was really good. The six small garlic rolls were also really good and fairly priced for $3.95 the Caesar salad was a good size to share with the 5 of us. Coming from Jefferson, Ga., the drive was not too bad (I drive the Peach Lane). I liked the Works pizza here better than the Buford locations. Keep up the good work. read more

Where to even begin. Ignored for ten minutes as we waited in the lobby (should've taken the hint at this point.) After ordering water and appetizers we didn't even see our waitress for 20 minutes. When we finally saw her and asked about the food she said they were starting the apps. Insane. We ordered the dinner and proceeded to wait ONE HOUR on the food (including the apps!) The apps came out with the dinner. The chicken parm was nothing like the thin Italian cutlets. It was like thicker than a Chick-fil-A sandwich. The foot was edible, but barely. At no point did anyone come by and say they were working on it or a free dessert or anything. I wouldn't go back if someone paid me. We've ordered from Vinny's on several occasions. We'e gotten the shrimp pasta fri diavolo and shrimp Alfredo. The last time we ordered we had 5 shrimp. Today we ordered and had no shrimp in the pasta fri diavolo and 4-5 in the Alfredo. The sauces are great, but it appears they are skimping on the shrimp which is disappointing. A dangerously misleading menu and horrible costumer service. I ordered a gluten free pizza (as listed on their website menu) and it came with breaded fried eggplant. Their website stated "eggplant" with no implications of it being breaded. Naturally, we gave them a call and asked them why the pizza has gluten on it. The person who replied told us to just "pick it off" and totally disregarded any problems we had. Please fix your menu online and get better costumer service. read more

Went there after the gladiators game , heard the foods was good .. Due to my finding , food is good however the service was beyond disaster , they take care of their own family first , meaning the owners family was sitting and they were very attentive to the and been waiting to get my drinks and my family's drink refill for approx 20 min , our waitress was no where to be found and saw her being to attentive to o the family . We asked the server is calamari with fresh or frozen. He said oh no, it's fresh so we ordered it. It was only rings and looked like frozen package calamari. We tried it,,,, it was frozen and it was rubbery. He took it back and didn't charge us, not the point he should have been honest from the start. If someone asks you is it fresh or frozen the customer actually knows the difference. Next time don't lie. I had the ravioli stuffed with chicken, which was decent. My husband had the Italian sausage dish over pasta. Which was also nothing to write home about. Never going back. Sure wish the calamari wasn't frozen. read more

This pizzaria has been a "go-to" place for us for years. It always feel like home. The servers are always friendly and welcoming. We have taken larger groups of friends here as well and they are always able to handle our group. The decor is welcoming, and walking in, you know you'll be getting a good meal. We always say we're going to order a pasta maindish, but we end up getting a large salad to share, and then our favorite pizza. The crust is always crunchy on the outisde and tender in the inside. The sauce usually amazing, the only reason that I am giving a 4 star rating instead of a 5 star is that the last time we ate here last month, the sauce had a slightly more commercial, tomato-y flavor instead of the slow-cooked robust flavor we are used to. We'll still back. The servers were always nice, so when we brought guests to celebrate their birthday, they made the dessert quite festive. read more

I went to the senior men's golf tournament at Sugarloaf and left late and needed something quick to eat. We stopped at Vinny's and I'm so glad we did. I got the Caprese sandwich and it may have been the best sandwich I've had in a year, the bread was so soft in the ingredients. Perfect. I can't recommend a place higher than I can. I get to come here often and am never disappointed (literally it's been over 10 years). I ordered a large cheese pizza and a small veggie pizza this time around for take out. The veggie pizza was super tasty and was basically a personal size. This is the place to go if you want some authentic New York style pizza. The crusts are cooked to perfection and are just the perfect amount of crispy. The cheese on the pizza is cooked to the perfect amount of redness. It's some real cheesy goodness you'll be looking at. They give good size portions for a good price and the flavor is unbeatable. Love love love the service, can't say a word wrong about this place! You can't go wrong with Vinny's. Stopped by on a Friday for a quick lunch after running some errands. This place sits right beside some ongoing construction so it's easier to turn off Sugarloaf to avoid the mess. Walking in the front door, we were greeted by a hostess, who seated us and took our drink orders. One of the walls is covered in wine bottles, which was cute. The other wall faced what used to be a Walgreens but it's currently under construction. We had a couple different waitresses assist in taking our order. We decided to get the fried mozzarella wedges for starter. The marinara sauce was amazing! I would definitely order those again and then we decided to have the medium pizza with pepperoni and ground beef. That's usually our go to whenever we order pizza Because that's my husband's favorite. We were only able to eat a couple slices before it was time to get a to go box. For the two of us, we probably could have just gotten a small pizza. Everything was delicious and was ready in about 10 to 15 minutes. Order of french fries not pictured. read more

Family wanted to go to Olive Garden 2 weekends in a row, but I pointed them in this direction instead. I've been here before, but it's been a few years. I read that they have a new owner but figured I'd give it a go. Went around 2 pm on a Sunday & it wasn't packed. We were seated pretty quickly at one of the 1/2 booth tables. The place has been updated since the last time I dined. Garlic knots tasted better than I remember. We rationed them out with no one getting more than the other (petty). Then we went in on the garlic mussels appetizer too. We couldn't get enough of those. We kept dipping the bread that came with the sauce in all that buttery garlic goodness. Probably blocked an artery . On to the entrees: everything was ON POINT. They were out of barrata cheese for my pasta, so offered to substitute with mozzarella, but I preferred feta instead. Pizza was packed & stuffed shells flavorful. The waitress was very accommodating & friendly. She talked to us like we were family. She let me try the sausage before ordering to make sure I'd like it too. They said they were out of wings, but we didn't know they had wings, Lol. Drinks were filled, extra napkins & utensils, check, check, check...so we were good. Happy with our dining experience & looking forward to trying new things on the menu. read more

Grammy approves!!!! If you have read any of my previous reviews about my quest to find a spaghetti and meatball dish that my mother (Grammy) approves of...you will know that its a daunting challenge! She is very particular about the sauce, the noodles, the flavor. Most restaurants just don't fit the bill. So happy to say this one did!!! Grammy enjoyed her meal so much, she ate the entire thing - (large entree)! We explained the "challenge" to our waitress. She was great. She smiled and said "oh your mom will love our spaghetti!" The garlic knots were fantastic and alone would be worth a repeat visit. We got the chicken and sun dried tomatoes stuffed shells and the house sauce with fettuccini and meatballs. Both were good. The pasta sauce had good tomato flavor and the stuffed shells were seasoned really nicely. We were in a bit of a rush to get to a game. Really good pizza. Trying out places in the area to find my favorites on this side and this place comes really close to what I'm looking for as far as pizza! We ordered half meat and half special and both were very good. We even ordered a pepperoni also- really good sauce. While waiting for the pizza I had a moment to look over the menu, so I will definitely be back for the dining experience. The service was great, they were extremely busy, but fast and polite. Vinny's is located off Sugarloaf Parkway, next to Uncle Jack's Meat House." The parking lot is a bit small for the two business but you'll manage to find a spot. I was so excited to give Vinny's a try because I am so tired of the regular pizza chains around here. The crust was good but my pizza was too dry with too much cheese. My stomach hurt so much after so I'm not sure if I would give it a try again. I was disappointed with the quality of the pizza not sure I'm willing to go thru that again. We ended up here on a whim because the sandwich shop we were going to was randomly closed. I'm glad things worked out because this is such a cute restaurant and the food was delicious. We both ordered subs since that's what we had already set our minds on but looking back we probably should have shared a sub and a pizza because the table across from us got pizza and it looked amazing!! I had the Italian sub with pasta salad and I cannot rave enough about the pasta salad!! It was so fresh and delicious with cherry tomatoes and green and black olives with parmigiana. The Italian sub was equally as delicious and had fresh diced tomatoes and onions and just the right amount of oil and vinegar drizzled across it. The bread was soft and toasted just enough to give it a little crunch. Absolutely delicious and the decor and feel was so perfect for a lunch date. I did read a lot of reviews about the amazing garlic knots so I'll have to try them next time. Other reviews say they're complimentary and I think that's no longer the case because they were listed as an appetizer on the menu. read more

8/2021 update: thought I would see how things had progressed. Much to my surprise things have improved. Music was now appropriate both in choice and volume. Service was much improved, and the food still very good. Gave two stars back. Thank you to the new owners for the changes! Unfortunately this has been or favorite restraint in Duluth, and it seems something has changed. The music has gone from something nice in a family neighborhood Italian restaurant to hip hop current pop. Amazing how a change like that can impact the ambiance and overall experience. Luchiano's across the street might be a better choice for the over 20's crowd read more
