I've become a regular here and can attest to the fact that this is one of the best bars in the city. The bartenders are awesome and the vibe is hot. Excellent customer service and it's an amazing venue. Bar bites are good, but entrees are hit or miss. This is a pricey venue so it's disappointing when having a less than average meal. Brunch is consistently good - best corn beef has around - and anything out of the brick oven is usually spot on. Entrees from the kitchen is where I hesitate. Again, very pricey so you may want to eat your meal elsewhere and come here before or after for drinks. Overall, I do love this place for drinks and small bites definitely worth checking out when in Boston. read more

In actuality, it was a bit empty for a Saturday night and the scene seemed mostly like older hotel guests. Cocktails were good, though overpriced. I've had better cocktails in Boston at Hawthorne/Eastern Standard for $2-3 less. The food was very average. I tried the cauliflower, which sounded better than it tasted. The preserved beets were a pitiful portion size and lacking in flavor. The brussel sprouts were merely ok, and missing some of the punch I expected from the chili. Overall, I was not overly impressed with the venue. Definitely a nice place to grab a drink but I would stop there. read more

The best about OAK Long Bar + Kitchen is their staff. They were incredibly kind from the moment me and my party of 4 set foot in their establishment. Aside from that, I was sorely disappointed by the quality of the food, portion sizes, and the prices. Even before getting into what I ordered, hear these three outrageous words: $7. Brewed. Coffee. This coffee wasn't even good. It tasted worse than Keurig coffee. I understand that OAK is on the first floor of a hotel in uppity Copley Square, but there is absolutely no need to charge $7 for sub-par coffee. The food was fine, but the quality and portion size didn't align with the price point. I ordered the french toast with Irish cream custard and berries. The presentation was nice, but there was no Irish cream to be found on my dish. The bread was flavorless and slightly soggy. The syrup they served on the side was pancake syrup, the fake kind loaded with sugar, rather than maple syrup. Having paid $18 for this plate and given the margin they are making, I couldn't understand why OAK would skimp on the maple syrup. Been to the Oak Room a few times between last year and this year and this year. It is actually one of my top favorite spots in Boston. It is located in heart of Copley square and always lively with matured crowd. The place has several tables and a long bar. Bartenders Anthony, Matt & Bonnie are always friendly and welcoming. As much as they see hundreds of people each week, when they see me they make direct eye contact and welcome me. WOW...What a service. They're also very creative with their drinks. I went here on February 24, 2018 for brunch after having an enjoyable evening here the night before! Best idea EVER! The staff was amazing. We sat at the kitchen/bar area and the chef was really nice. I ordered one of their newer options, it was an egg, tomato sauce, olives, artichoke and cheese mixture. It was delicious!!! Nice sauce to egg ratio. The bread served with it looked good but I didn't have room for it. I also ordered sausage with it which had a hint of maple taste to them. My friends got the poached eggs and the burger. Everyone was very happy with their meals. I would gladly return for the quality of the food as well as the service. The bone marrow and mac&cheese are both incredible! - the ambiance: beautiful old world hotel meets hip and happening bar. Some cozy tables available! The iffy: - the service. I love the hostesses here and the waiters seem to be trying their best, but seem understaffed. It can take a long time to get someone to take your order so be prepared for a slow night - the mixed drinks. We've paid $20 for the same cocktail made totally differently each time we go. Depending on the bartender your drink could be super strong or really weak. - some entrees are really overpriced. My girlfriend and I got a seat on their patio last night. We had to go out of our way to get the attention of a server after about 15mins of just sitting in our chairs. We ordered 2 beers, the "picnic basket" app, some olives and some pretzels. The beers come after about 20mins. The "picnic basket" which was supposed to come with ahi tacos, bruschetta, and a small cheesecake bite, instead came to the table as literally 6 baby bites of food. The "tacos" were literally like those round tortilla chips but folded to resemble 2 hamster sized tacos. The bruschetta were the size of a bottle cap. The cheesecake bite was actually good. Olives come, they aren't bad. Pretzels never came yet they still tried to charge us. Our server did not care about our feedback on the picnic basket saying "Hey, you're not hurting my feelings" Our server never came back to ask us if we were doing alright or if we wanted more beers (which we definitely did). This place should be embarrassed. Pathetic service and food. Never coming back and I will be sharing my experience about this place to all my friends. read more

Low rating is based on ordering food for dinner. On the opposite end of the spectrum the cocktails are fantastic and some of the best in Boston. As for the food: I confirmed with the waiter that the $22 burger is made in house and can be ordered to temp (eg medium rare or not well done). I confirmed this with the waiter 3 times before the food came out because I did not want to eat a well done burger. Despite the waiters repeated assurance it ended up being served well done. I kindly asked the waiter if the kitchen can make the $22 burger medium rare or if I should order something else on the menu. The waiter said they absolutely can cook to temp so he removed the burger and said they would try again. After some time had passed and the rest of my party was eating their entrees the waiter came back to say that the chef was adamant that they could not cook a burger to anything less than the well done temp that was served. By this time my party was pretty much done with their entrees and I didn't want to eat dinner on my own so I skipped and went straight to dessert. My take away is that this place is basically a bar with excellent cocktails. It is not a true restaurant due to their inability to cook meat to temp or to properly inform their wait staff of the kitchen's capabilities. Please consider this if you intend to visit. read more

This was my second time dining at OAK Long Bar. It sits inside the beautiful Fairmont Copley Plaza in Copley Square, Boston. I have never had the chance to stay at the hotel, but my family has and enjoyed it very much. It's great to dine at OAK Long Bar when there's nice weather to sit outside and have a nice afternoon glass of wine. It is definitely pricey, but expected as the Fairmont is an upscale place to both stay and to dine. My first time, my Family and I sat outside during a beautiful day at the end of the summer. We had wine and salad and it was a great experience. Great service, great atmosphere, and delicious wine and food. Since then, one of our dear family Friends who was there that day has passed. My sister and I went back there recently and we sat inside. It was just as fun and lively inside, A different vibe but still a great atmosphere. We ordered drinks & toasted to our dear family friend. We knew he was watching over us at that moment. My sister ordered an Aperol-spritzer and I had a Sauvignon Blanc. The server was nice enough to pour me a taste of the wine to make sure that I joyed it, and which I did, before she poured the full glass. I enjoyed my wine and my sister liked her spritzer as well. We ended up talking to a really fun Australian couple who is sitting next to us. It's very easy to make friends in this kind of environment. My sister and I decided to get an appetizer to hold us over before we went to dinner elsewhere. We decided on the crab and avocado toast. The server recommended that we try that because it's one of their most commonly ordered appetizers. It was about $18. All the appetizers were around this price so you can only imagine how much the dinners are. Hence why we decided to go elsewhere. I'm sure the dinners are amazing, though. They have brick oven pizzas that are made right in front of you if you're sitting at the bar. Pretty cool. It has a very old fashion vibe to it which is very cool. You feel like you should be wearing a big hat and smoking a cigarette out of a cigarette holder. I highly recommend having this experience once or twice. Ideally ones outside and once inside. If you are not a hotel guest, parking can be tricky. Street parking on Sundays is free, but also competitive. It may be easy to park in a lot just make sure you check the price because they can be pricey. read more

I like this place. The food was pretty solid - the kids' mac and cheese was certainly not your average mac and cheese but au gratin. Good portion, too. The service was great, too. Not 5 stars just because it was too loud, more of a happy hour setting the whole dinner... but if that is what it's going for, then sure, just not for me. This place has become a must on Sundays. I have been once for happy hour/Sunday funday and then again for brunch which was also scrumptious. I prefer to sit at the bar on one of those buttery leather high-back chairs you will never want to leave. Food/Drink-The wine list is extensive in the best way; all inclusive country and region-wise and mouth-watering options by the glass which isn't always the case. Their charcuterie is possibly my favorite thing ever. I think I've had dreams about it. It consists of a perfectly executed board of cured meats, paired cheeses, cornichons, grainy mustard, black, Greek and green olives, magical fig jam and toasted sliced bread. The small board is a great plate for two to share with some wine or cocktails (never had them but have been envious every time one goes by). For brunch, we ordered a small board and the raspberry monkey bread which I was shocked no one had instagrammed yet so I could stalk it. The monkey bread was oozing with fresh raspberry jam between luscious layers of monkey bread topped with some caramelized nut heaven. Pair this with iced coffee or hot coffee and you may never dedicate Sundays to a Netflix marathon again! Service-some of the friendliest, most wonderful I have seen in the city. Service at the bar has always been very quick, genuinely friendly and maybe they are great at faking it but everyone seems to really like their job which makes the atmosphere that much more welcoming. Going to the Oak Long Bar + Kitchen was a dream that I apparently never knew I had. And boy, what a dream it was. Spending a classy evening admiring the regal decor, sipping on expertly crafted drinks and snacking on scrumptious small plates, all in the company of the wonderful Eunice E... now that's how you spend a Saturday night! Let's rewind a bit. Eunice and I showed up at about 7 on a rainy, windy Saturday evening. We didn't have reservations, but we were hoping to grab a couple seats at the bar. When we initially spoke to the hostess, we were told it would be a 45 minute to an hour wait. We were bummed, but decided to put our names down and stick around. As luck would have it, another hostess came over and told us that a table was just paying and finishing up and that it should only be a few more minutes. Let the dream begin! A short while later, we were seated. After browsing through the drink menu, we opted for martinis. Prices were steep - $22 - but for that price tag, you get a whole lot of drink! The menu lists them as "served extra large." You definitely get at least 2 drinks' worth out of them. I'm not the biggest martini fan, but they were definitely the best I've ever had. We both shamelessly asked for more olives to go with them! On to the food! All of the small plates sounded absolutely wonderful, so we decided to order a couple of them, along with the flatbread. The flatbread was quite simple, nothing fancy, but very flavorful nevertheless. For small plates, we started with the fried green tomatoes, which seems like an odd choice but actually turned out to be a spectacular one. We also went with the "lobster one handers" - mini lobster rolls on steamed Chinese buns. They were absolutely divine. Two small plates, one flatbread - the perfect amount of food. And so the dream ended. The food and drinks were completely five-star worthy, but the service left a little to be desired. Our server never came over to check on us once we got our food, and he was nowhere to be found for the majority of the time we were there. This place is fantastic. My wife and I met up with a friend there for lunch last weekend and we were both very pleased with our meal. It was our first visit. First, the ambiance is beautiful. It's classy and old school. You feel important just by being in that space. The food was excellent. I had the eggs Benedict with lobster. While most restaurants serve lobster in very stingy portions, my serving came with a pile of lobster. It was magnificent and I made sure to share it on Facebook. Last week a business dinner with my team allowed me the opportunity to have my first dinner at the newly remodeled Oak Long Bar + Kitchen. Dinner started with a delicious chopped shrimp cocktail - $16, served on a slate platter which includes a dash of horseradish on top, chili cocktail sauce, cucumber, red onion and charred lemon. However, the highlight of my dinner was the main course, the Tagliatelle dinner - $28, which comes with thick chunks of Maine lobster, braised short ribs, diced zucchini and cheese. Nearly everyone at the table agreed this was the winning plate both in terms of flavor and surprise (who would've thought of pairing lobster and short ribs?). Overall the dining experience lived up to the hype. Main plates range from $19 (burger) to $39 (bone out ribeye). If that will break your budget, try coming for a cocktail and a few appetizers or flatbread, which have a lower price point and are also very satisfying. read more

I've loved coming to Oak bar for a drink until a very unsettling situation. I came with my girlfriend at 9:30pm to grab a few drinks and dessert. After being seated with our reservation, within a few minutes, someone who I assume is one of the managers came by to tell us that their system was down and that they could not take credit cards which we said that it was fine and that we would pay with cash. My girlfriend volunteered to go get some cash and within 5 minutes of when she was gone the table next to us paid with a card which I thought was weird. The table in front of us then also paid with a card. And then another table. Aside from this it took about 15 minutes for the waiter to come by with water and another 10 minutes to get drink orders. And then we realized it had been over 40 minutes and we had never been asked if we wanted to order any food....which we had planned to. At the end of drinks a total of 5 tables had paid with a card that we saw. We received our bill without being asked if we would like another drink first and decided to try to pay with card and it worked without hesitation from the waiter. Upon leaving I decided to ask a different manager in front of the hostess if the card system was down and there was about 5 second of silence prior to him unconvincingly saying "yes it was down" I said "ok, it was just very inconvenient to get cash when within 5 minutes people started paying with cards around us". The manger was clearly lying and had no idea what I was talking about the hostess seemed uncomfortable with my question. And we left. I'm not sure what the situation was for them to say that their system was down - were they trying to get us to leave? It made the entire experience very uncomfortable as if they didn't want us there. I would like to think that maybe their system was down but why was their service so terrible? Not sure if I'll be returning to Oak Bar in the future despite absolutely loving their drinks as this experience has left a less then pleasant taste in my mouth. read more

Let me start off by saying the space is truly beautiful. My fiance made reservations for our 'date night,' and we were also lucky to have a gift certificate as well. I don't know why previous reviews said that the service was poor. Our server was very attentive and made the dining experience really wonderful. We both started off with dirty martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives. Very smooth and honestly, a generous portion. With our drinks, we were served mini biscuits with a cheddar aioli - tasty, but they should have been served warm. We followed up with the small charcuterie board. What a lovely combination of every good taste - sweet, salty, savory. For entrees, I ordered the halibut and my fiance ordered the pot roast. He said the plate was a good portion, the meat was moist and tender and the vegetables were "roasted to perfection." I loved the combo of the halibut with the fried clams and sweet corn. I couldn't even finish the dish - my portion was also very generous. Honestly, it was a great dining experience and we will be returning to try other dishes but will most likely repeat the charcuterie board. And this restaurant is more on the upscale side with its association with the Fairmont Copley - so be prepared to spend a little more $$$. read more

I once loved the Oak Room, and even the new Oak Bar. The location is great, and the food is normally high quality. I believe the food has been on a slow downward slide. I used to at least expect good service and friendly staff, it seems that's also gone downhill. When we arrived it wasn't too busy, and we were seated quickly by the very nice front door staff. That's the last of the service we got... We waited 15 minutes to get water, by then I wanted to just have a drink and find somewhere else to go. I was in good conversation so it wasn't too bad, but overall I expect more when paying $15 for mixed drinks. There is a nice wine selection and the food is always great. I have had a few occasions when I have had to sit in the outer area and the wait for service was longer than it should have been. The female waitstaff seemed to be actively ignoring our table. The attitude seemed out of place and something that wouldn't be tolerated at an establishment of this caliber. Unfortunately, this has not been a one time occurrence, on my most recent visit I received a lot of attitude from the female manager who needed to process my payment as I was using a gift card. Her obvious annoyance as well as lack of customer service will ensure that in the future I will be going elsewhere. read more

Gawd I love Oak Bar. Because I'm a horrible human being and super judgey. The first time I came here was with a girlfriend, and at first I marveled at the high ceilings (and the high prices for the drinks), and the lovely, luxurious nature of the bar - chesterfield couches and beautiful tapestries - a librarian's dream! Then I became completely enthralled as I watched sleekly clad cougars and silver foxes pounce on young cubs. It was extremely entertaining. I watched enraptured as a leather-ensconced lady almost force-fed a young man a tasty appetizer. The last time I frequented Oak, I came after dinner with a date. He was taken with the scene as well, and enjoyed the Fairmont's beautiful atmosphere. This time we met two young men who were out on the prowl. I tell you, it's kind of an upscale meat market, and it's fascinating. My wife and I came here for some post dinner drinks and desert. First time in since the renovation. The place looks just amazing! I could stand in there all night just to take it all in. The crowd was a tad douchey but I am not a huge fan of Boston's night life crowd anyhow.... The service was EXCELLENT. The bartender, who was crazy busy, made one heck of a dirty martini, (served in an ice bucket), and seemed to notice that we were in need of some bar space, wrangled a spot for us before serving us our drinks. We then asked one of the hosts if they could get us a table just to sit and they got the job done! The waiter was awesome. Super friendly and attentive. I saw he had a union button on so maybe they decided to hire union waitstaff to fix their service problems? If so, the solution seems to have worked! Why not four stars? The food....well, the dessert because that is all we had to eat. Ordered a whoopie pie. Sounded great on the menu, (which is as awkward as hell to read!), and looked amazing when it was brought out. However it was stale and dry. It must have been made days ago and sitting out since. We didn't complain because of how nice the staff was and we were having a good time. But seriously folks....assuming you make your own desserts or buy them local, and you better be for the price, toss em if you don't sell em. This is only a review of drinks, as I just had one alcoholic beverage here ... because that's all a normal person could afford here! The service was great, but a pair of Cosmos were $38 total! I do feel there were about 1 1/2 servings, or the glass might have been really small. I know this is one of Boston's upscale restaurants, and Boston alcohol prices are generally high -- but I usualy figure about $12 for a martini or cosmo is the normal. First time here...I am an older, out-of-town visitor. Bar staff friendly enough, even though the decor and the vibe don't match. The interior has a terrific ceiling, and an awesome brass-topped bar. But, It's loud, and there are too few places to sit. The cocktail menu is limited for a place that has as much bandwidth behind the bar as this place does. (It's no Death&Co., that's for sure). I get the feeling that the best time to be here would be late at night when the crowd thins out, and then the noise level matches the vibe. I had walked by this location every day on my way to and from work. It always looked so classy and inviting. I decided to go with my friend to celebrate something and we had never been more disappointed in a restaurant. The service was only okay. I had to ask several times to have my water filled. We ordered the octopus for an appetizer and drinks. They had a great wine list, and great cocktails - this was the only part of the meal that I was happy with. For our meals I had the salmon, which was way overcooked and rubbery. My friend tried it and agreed that it was not very good, and wanted to send it back. He had the crab mac and cheese, but found bits of crab shell in about every bite, and spent his entire meal dissecting it. We passed on dessert so we could get out of there ASAP.
