Booked this spot in beautiful Boston to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary & was highly disappointed with our overall dining experience. It is a beautiful & timeless restaurant, but it fell flat for that something special I was hoping for. Service was messy and unorganized, many times the servers were serving the wrong dish to the wrong person, and we'd have to move our own plates out of the way because service was not paying attention to the details. Servers weren't particularly friendly or warm, either. We had two children in our group of nine, and the options for them were nothing great. I would have liked to see a shrimp dish, and something with fresh vegetables. I had hoped this restaurant would have taken in consideration our celebration anniversary dinner, as I had noted when I reserved this location weeks prior, but they barely acknowledged our celebration. When paying our overpriced bill, our waitress mentioned, "Oh, you're celebrating your anniversary, right?" Gee, thanks for making us feel so great about choosing your restaurant to spend this momentous occasion! Additionally, I noticed they sat us in an uncomfortable corner and right next to another large party instead of a table that was in the same room with a little more privacy that was the same size as ours (and was empty the entire night!) The food was just okay. I had their short rib dish and the potatoes & carrots were too sweet. The short rib was tasty, though! Others said their dishes were good, or "okay." Sadly, I walked away unimpressed with our 30th wedding anniversary celebration dinner and felt bad that I chose this spot instead of others I had found on Yelp. Missed opportunity here for this restaurant staff. Management needs to be better at planning, especially for people traveling to Boston & coming in from all around the globe to celebrate something. (We came in on May 26, 1996 at 6:15 PM.)

Great ambiance. Book lovers dream! Service was fantastic. Food was good. 3 stars however as there was not a single vegetarian option on the menu. This is completely inappropriate and unacceptable at such an expensive restaurant.

The ambiance is unparalleled for the area! We came here for brunch on a Sunday morning! It was great but got busy quickly! The food, first, the brunch burger was good. Not great but good. The reason it was good was because it absolutely fell apart from a soggy bun. A soggy bun wrecked it for me. The California Benedict came without avocado..When avocado is on the list of items included on the menu. When we asked the waiter he looked at his notes to see if it was included. He said it would be right out! It was, the waitress that brought the avocado out kind of put it on the table with attitude. There was no apology. Lastly, given the price of these meals I expect flawless service and execution of food. We won't be returning.

Overall a great experience by spare no expense! It's definitely a great date night and celebration spot. My husband booked the reservation and told them it was our anniversary and they brought over complimentary champagne for us. It was one of those things where we knew we were going to have a great experience! The tuna crispy rice was phenomenal and I salivate just thinking about the black garlic emulsion that was on the plate. I thought my short rib and parsnip dish was one of the stars of the night and truly enjoyed each bite! My husband enjoyed his scallops although he wished there was just a little bit more risotto and no grapes. We ended the night with the sticky toffee pudding and man we could've eaten like five of these it was so good! Definitely check them and their new location out if you're looking for a good meal in Boston!

1928 Beacon Hill Cafe is such a cozy hidden gem. The space is charming and relaxed, perfect for a coffee break or casual bite. Everything tasted fresh and well-made, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. A great little neighborhood spot that feels warm and inviting -- I'll definitely be back.

I think I have close to a love/hate relationship with this place, or maybe more like I really wanted to love but I can't. I think maybe I expected more based on the reviews I've heard. It's not that the food was bad, because it was pretty good, but something about my experience felt off. I think for the price point it's at, I expected better service. Again, not that it was bad, but nothing that would justify a $200-300 meal. The tables were also extremely small, which the design was purposeful for the aesthetic, but was very impractical for eating/drinking with multiple dishes and glasses on the table. What we ordered (for 2): - Braised pork belly: my favorite dish of the night, would get this as an entree if it was available in a larger portion - Oyster Rockefeller: amazing display, with the smokiness, but slightly too much absinthe for my liking - Short rib (entree): I didn't try it but my husband really liked it - Pan roasted giannone chicken (entree): the chicken was cooked perfectly and the fried mozzarella was good as well but the dish didn't feel cohesive Would I go back? Unclear in the long run, I think I'd probably have to explore a bit more to decide but as of right now, probably not. (Though my husband would say yes, so this is just one girl's opinion, but hey the wife is always right )

SO delicious. With a Caesar salad to start, it was a great jumping point to dive into our Steak Frites. They were covered in the most delicious mushroom sauce and paired with the crispiest French fries. Our server was very attentive, and did his best to navigate the crowded restaurant and bar next to our seats. This was the only downfall of our experience was that the bar was so incredibly loud from overloading patrons it was hard to hear. The service was great overall and even provided a complimentary champagne toast as we mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary! We've already been recommending this place to family and friends and can't wait to return to try more on the menu.

This place is a whole vibe!! From when you arrive outside the decor is cute and quaint, and then you step into what feels like a speakeasy vibe! The decor, the bar everything is thoughtfully curated. They do have a coat check so ++ there! We were seated in the cozy corner, and our server was very attentive. They had festive seasonal cocktails, and extensive wine list which we enjoyed. The arancini to start was delish! I got the tuna tartare as my meal, flavor was spot on, I wanted more! One of my friends got the bolognese and then other for the steak frites. Everyone finished their plates clean. HIGHLY rec putting this on your list to dine at in Boston.

My boyfriend and I went to 1928 to celebrate our six year anniversary and absolutely loved it. It's a small restaurant with dark and cozy intimate vibes. There is a cute bar space and the restaurant seating is tight but still comfortable. For drinks my boyfriend had the 1928 Espresso Martini (which is tequila not vodka) and Pino Noir, which were delightful. We started off with the fried cauliflower and shishito peppers which got us really excited for our meal. It was packed with flavor and hit the spot. For our entrees we got the steak frites and the 1928 burger, both phenomenal and perfect portions. For dessert we had the crème brûlée and chocolate cake. The crème brûlée was top three I've had and the chocolate cake was rich and delicious. I did want to note that the menu online seems to be slightly different from the online menu. As for our service, our waitress was attentive and kind. Our only disappointment of the night was that although we included anniversary as "special occasion" on our reservation, it wasn't acknowledged by the restaurant. We say this because our waitress acknowledged the table next to us for their special occasion. Regardless, our experience at 1928 was spectacular and we left full and happy. We would most definitely return.

I came here for a quick bite and loved it! The restaurant is very cozy and lovely. I was able to get bar seating immediately and order some bites. Service was quick and we got Mac and cheese and broccolini. Both plates were good- I especially loved the Mac and cheese (very fun noodle choice of XL radiatore). I would definitely go back in the future for a full seated dinner!

Where to start! Top to bottom had a great experience at 1928. When we got sat our waiter informed us that the menus had changed 15 minutes prior to when we arrived so we were excited to try some of the new changes. I ordered their 1928 cocktail which was phenomenal especially if you like floral, fruity drinks that aren't overly sweet. My boyfriend was recommended a red wine by our server that was very good (we don't remember which one). For food we started with the burrata dish and for entrees we had the braised short rib and the steak frites. We also shared a side of the brussel sprouts. Everything was excellent!!! For dessert we finished with the sticky toffee pudding. Everything was coursed appropriately which is much appreciated and our waiter was great. Can't say enough great things about this place. A must visit in Beacon Hill!

This Boston Beacon Hill staple is one of my favorite places to dine when in the area. Laid back chill atmosphere with a great décor & menu. No bad seat in the house. I usually sit at bar. Servers are very polite & super knowledgeable about the whole experience. Food & drinks are exceptional.

I found the adequately nice and the ambience cozy. Those seated at the bar, tho, seemed quite cramped, and when we dined it was quite loud. Still we enjoyed our meal. It would be a typical good choice for those living close by. The pornstar martini was quite sweet..almost like a melted popsicle. It would be better as a dessert cocktail. Our appetizer was the crab dip, and it was very nice. I then ordered coyote which I was disappointed didn't have any smoky notes as good mescal typically would, especially when intended to go with smoked rosemary. I think their pasta could be improved if the noodles were not overcooked, but that isn't so uncommon in the states, not it wasn't a problem for me. Overall a nice experience.

Soon as he found out we came all the way from Hawaii, he made us feel right at home. Real good energy, super welcoming, and took care of us the whole night. The adults started with a couple Manhattans, and da buggahs had mana . Exactly how a Manhattan supposed to be. For appetizers, we went with the full Abe's Seafood Tower and the Caesar salad. I highly recommend both. My daughter and son went all in, and the homemade croutons made that Caesar salad pop. We liked the oysters so much, we ended up ordering another dozen. Sahin told us the Duxbury oysters (I think that's the ones we had) are local to the Boston region and are farmed in the upper water column above the oyster bed, which keeps them in the current and gives them that clean, briny taste. Mean, supah ono! For the main, we shared the 22 oz bone in ribeye and lobster tail. Steak was cooked proper, juicy, flavorful, just how it should be. Sahin even offered to have the steak sliced up for us, which was a nice touch. For sides, we had the au gratin potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Both were super tasty, and the Brussels sprouts had that perfect char. Ended the meal with da cookie dessert which had homemade whipped cream. Overall, real good experience. Great food, great drinks, and service that made us feel comfortable from the jump. If you staying in Boston and like seafood and steak, this spot is worth checking out. Just note, it's a typical Boston setting, everybody talk loud haha. Mahalo plenty, Sahin. It was a pleasure. I give dis place, 2 shakas and an auriiite!

The reservation process was easy and a group of 5 was easily accommodated on the day and time requested. We arrived together after a short walk from the office. Bonus points to Moooo for not only having complimentary coat check, but also safe bag storage knowing much of their clientele on a weeknight is in transit from the office to home. Please people, don't forget to tip the coat check girls, it is only the right thing to do. Seated at our table the restaurant was initially fairly empty, but filled up nicely while we are already enjoying cocktails, wine, and appetizers. The long bar followed by tables of various sizes filled the restaurant, but it never was too loud and there was plenty of space between tables that you did not feel like you were sitting on top of each other or listening to their conversation more then the person across from your own table. Like most fine dining experiences, the complimentary rolls were served warm and lathered in melted butter. Sinful!. We ordered several appetizers for the table to share including tuna tartare which was very tasty and recommended. I also recommend the Japanese wagyu beef dumplings which were both delicate and savory. Lastly, the calamari was crispy and hot with the right amount of heat from the lemon and herb aioli. To accompany the entrees we ordered the broccolini, Yukon gold potatoes and the highly recommended tater tots. The only issue we had was with the tots which we collectively thought were both slightly over cooked and tasted "different". Said another way, I have never had a tater tot that didn't leave me wanting to eat them one after another until they were all gone, but this one was more than enough and more than 3/4 of the serving was left for the bus-person. Three of us ordered the 8oz Omaha filet which were cooked to perfection and delicious. Why is there not a 12 oz offering like most steak houses? Literally mine looked like it was 4 oz on the large, stark white plate when served. Thankfully being cooked to a perfect medium rare and accompanies by a bordelaise sauce which is also a rarity to find offered, was a treat. The prime New York sirloin and prime ribeye were equally cooked perfectly and delicious. We passed on dessert or after dinner drinks, but certainly enjoyed our visit. I have eaten at the Beacon Hill location previously, but this was my first experience in the seaport, but it won't be my last.

The menu refers to these as "Greek cheese bread" but somehow that doesn't do it justice - these were immensely pillowy and cheesy, with an amazing crust, with homemade honey butter on the side. I could have had just these for dinner and been satisfied. They really nailed the bread. My other favorites: 1. Hipiti: spicy whipped feta with crispy potatoes on the side. I don't do well with spice but I absolutely loved this. 2. Marouli: winter lettuce with the most amazing vinaigrette dressing. My only knock to this is, presentation-wise, they serve it with half of the plate empty and the other half with salad. I don't understand why restaurants do this because - one, it only highlights the smaller portion and two, we're just going to mix the salad all around in the bowl anyway. 3. Boudeto: daily catch in a beautiful tomato broth. For a seafood dish at a restaurant in Back Bay, this was priced at a fairly reasonable $28. The only dish that fell a little flat for me was the tzatziki - needed a bit more seasoning. As it was, I was eating mostly just plain yogurt. The table-side preparation was cool, though. The space is its own visual dinner, there's simply a lot to look at (including a drawing of Poseidon riding a surf board). We got the big table in the back, which was a beautiful glass structure with a whole terrarium underneath. We couldn't stop marveling at it throughout the meal. Our waiter was wonderful - very helpful recommendations, came by to check on us often even though we were pretty far in the back, super patient with our questions. Hard to get reservations but worth it! Don't bother driving / trying to find parking unless you're willing to eat a hefty garage fee, it's Back Bay.

Salty Pig Pizza: A pizza with the same name as the restaurant! Who was the genius who came up with the idea of salted pig and beer caramel? It's brilliant! The salted pork appears to include Prosciutto di Parma from Langirano, Prosciutto Cotto, and Salcissia. Baking rendered the prosciutto's fat, which blends with the caramel to create a beautiful golden syrup that flows across the pizza's surface. The prosciutto was savory, oily, and tender; the minced salcissia retains its coarse texture and rich meaty aroma; the caramel was sweet and mellow with a honey-like sweetness, forming the top, middle, and base notes respectively. The arugula was slightly warmed, losing its astringent and raw taste while maintaining its crisp texture, helped to cut through the richness together with the Parmesan cheese powder. The crust was crispy, while the inside the dough was soft and chewy. The cooking time and seasoning were all just right, and the restaurant's proud wooden oven added a charming smoky flavor. Affogato: I had high expectations, but it was just okay. The espresso was too sour, and the vanilla ice cream couldn't balance it out. Row 34 in Seaport seriously blew me away. I've had oysters in a lot of places but this one is on…read moreanother level. We tried 4 different types and every single one tasted super fresh, clean, and just really high quality. You can tell they know what they're doing here, even the way they shuck it is nice and clean, no shell pieces or anything. Their menu actually has like 10+ kinds of oysters, highly selective and premium. I really wish we had more time (and stomach space) to try more. But we already had like 3 dinners planned that night lol so this was more like a "stop by and eat as much oysters as possible" situation. Honestly I'm pretty sure the other food here is just as good, based on what I saw on other tables. Definitely coming back next time I'm in Boston.

First time here. We got the lobster roll. And while, sure, the menu said the pricing was 'MP'…read more(meaning Market Price, or...based upon current market conditions)...and while, sure, we didn't ASK what the price would be, on that day, I still think it would have been nice if the waitstaff voluntarily offered up that detail. (I'm certain the staff are aware that many of their diners express shock, once the price is disclosed...) Many folks simply make an assumption or a guesstimate, as to the price, when they see 'MP' on a menu, and this is usually based upon their prior experiences, ordering such a menu item. So, for example, I was thinking the lobster roll might be in the $40-45 range. So imagine my utter shock, when we received the bill, to see a charge for $69?? I have never in my life had such an expensive lobster roll. Yes, it was delicious, and the housemade potato chips were also great. The slaw was also good (though it was a very tiny amount...I would have liked more). But boy, did that price shock me. I would normally never have voluntarily ordered a $69 lobster roll. It simply never would have occurred to me, that a place would ever charge that much....

This place was recommended by the concierge at our hotel. We even asked a few other people in town…read more They all said this place was good. So we had to try it. We walked from trolly stop 7. Nice easy walk. We arrived and the place was packed. No reservation. We came to the street entrance, which we thought was the main entrance. The person there took us to a seat at the oyster bar downstairs. The vibe was awesome. A mostly young crowd. Looked like a great place for after work meet up. Our waitress took our order. Clean chowda, Oysters, Lobsta Frites, and a Lobsta Roll (my first). Everything was better than expected. I even got a little education on the oysters from the shuckers. BTW, the red sauce in the dropper bottle is Hella Hot, but really good. The place was rocking and then we found out that there was an upstairs also. This place was very nice for a date and for some out of downers like us. I recommend it.

Wanted to love this place, but the food arrived cold and the service was dismissive…read more We ordered the clam chowder, a burger, and the warm lobster roll (they offer both warm and cold versions). When we mentioned that the lobster roll was cold, the server looked at me like I was dumb, pointed at the lobster roll, and said, "That is warm babe." The response came across so rude and unprofessional. There were also issues with our order being forgotten. We had to place the lobster roll order a second time because it wasn't entered the first time around. During that second order, the server asked whether we wanted fries or chips with the lobster roll, and we chose fries. We later found out we were charged an additional $4 for the fries, which was never mentioned.

The interior is pretty stunning, with large paintings all over the walls. It felt like a European art museum turned restaurant which was a cool surprise. There are also some neat statues around, with a lot of the decor reminding me of Revolutionary times. The atmosphere is comfortable and classy, and I almost felt like smoking a cigar or something while I was in the booth haha Our server didn't rush us and we had plenty of time to choose from the wine selection. The basket of bread was terrific, all kinds in there which I appreciate. I had a piece that tasted like it had cheesy onion in there, which I haven't had before. I got a cabernet to start. My appetizer was a lovely, refreshing salad, mixed greens with kale, feta cheese, dried cherries, toasted almonds, orzo and walnut mustard vinaigrette. There were wonderful textures to enjoy and it's probably enough for two people. I also had the wonderful German Riesling white wine they had. I had to go all out for the entree, choosing the seared hand-carved tenderloin (two 4 oz. pieces) with two butter poached lobster tails! I haven't had lobster surf 'n turf in many years so it was fun to have again. The dinner was wonderful, with hearty medium rare steaks very juicy and bursting with flavor. The lobster tails were sublime, and well garnished. We also got garlic spinach and mashed potatoes to share which were perfect sides. Because someone sent an appetizer back, we got a really nice dessert of a chocolate cake and some kind of soft tan colored cake with a lovely crust underneath. The meal was phenomenal and I think everyone should experience at least once, especially if you're hankering for a great steak!
