OMG, how have we not checked out The Old Mill before?! This place truly has something for everyone!…read more We stopped by today and were blown away by how much is under one roof. Grab BBQ at Quentin's, coffee from Ten & Two, ice cream, or a freshly brewed beer from Outfield Beer Co. Prefer a cocktail? They have you covered there, too! You can browse books and games, check out trading cards, or just find a spot to hang out with plenty of seating both inside and outside. The food was delicious and served quickly! The onion rings had just enough salt on the them to make the so tasty! Will definitely return for more! There is even Fuel House, a members-only space with a golf simulator and other amenities. And then head upstairs to Third Story Studios! The third floor has a completely different feel with beautiful, high-end spaces featuring independent hair, nail, spa, and beauty professionals. Whether you are looking for coffee, lunch, a locally brewed beer, cocktails with friends, somewhere to hang out, or simply something different to do, The Old Mill is worth checking out. You could bring a group here and everyone could find something they enjoy. Such a fun hidden gem right in our area. If you have not checked out The Old Mill, add it to your list! 611 W. On a recent visit, they had smoked wings on special, and I tried those. I liked them, but they were a bit on the dry side. Likely from reheating them or something. The smoke flavor and sauce were good though. Quentin's is located at the Olde Mill, so there are other places to explore and enjoy while you are there, including a brewery. The place is super cool and has a lot going on. The service at Quentin's is pretty quick. You order at the window, get your number, and find a place to sit either inside or outside. Overall, a unique addition to the KC BBQ scene. Worth a visit for sure.

The manager gal was on the phone with her kids and counting the drawers at the same time. She was too worried about waking her son up to come pick her up from work as she was getting ready to get off. Also how she works 50 hours this week, not appropriate being on the front cash registers when I'm standing there needing help! In order through the Kiosk, which definitely needs updating. Only 1 of the 2 were working at the time. Also if you want to order no salt on the fries, no way to customize that on the Kiosk? Or if you want just LIGHT Ketchup on the hamburger, no way to customize! It would be helpful if this was fixed! On to the nasty food. Apple pie was so nasty, my dog wouldn't even eat it. My dog weighs 175# and eats about anything! The fries were so salty I thought I was in the ocean swimming and swallowed salt water! I had them remade with NO SALT! The cheeseburger was at best- okay. The breakfast Taquito with bacon was so GREASY I couldn't even hang on to the wrapper without it slipping out! So absolutely nasty! Only thing good was the shakes, then they forgot to give them to me and I had to go back in there and get them in the pouring down rain. I get back in there and the guy asked me for my receipt? I ordered on the Kiosk, so I didn't get one! The restaurant was a mess with dirty tables and the bathroom was filthy too. Needs a lot of help and education here!

A Hidden Gem Worth Finding…read more The day after the World Cup Final, we needed to find a place for lunch near our Airbnb. Sometimes those unplanned stops turn into the best discoveries, and that's exactly what happened at The Glass Cat. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Berkley, our server. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home. She knew the menu well and wasn't shy about making recommendations, which always earns extra points in my book. She told us The Glass Cat is known for their biscuits. I laughed and admitted, "I'm really not a biscuit guy." She smiled and insisted I at least try a half order. Well... she was right that they were good, but I've officially confirmed I'm still just not a biscuit guy. Nothing against theirs--I think I'm simply impossible to impress when it comes to biscuits! Since I'm familiar with this part of the country, I couldn't pass up the Tenderloin Sandwich. It wasn't exactly like the classic pork tenderloin sandwiches I've had elsewhere, but it was absolutely delicious. The pork was tender, the toppings were fresh, and the fries were cooked exactly the way I like them--golden brown with a nice crisp on the outside. At Berkley's recommendation, my wife ordered the Egg, Cheese & Bacon Biscuit with hash browns. She wasn't kidding about the bacon--it was thick, smoky, and full of flavor. I stole a bite (as good husbands do), and it was a really tasty breakfast sandwich. The hash browns were another highlight--crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked. While we ate, we soaked in the local atmosphere. It was fun listening to everyone engage in a conversation. My wife and I discussed making our plans for the day and return trip for tomorrow. We made a quick stop at the nearby Price Chopper to grab a few things for the Airbnb. The Glass Cat Cafe may be a little off the beaten path, but that's often where you find the best local restaurants. Good food, generous portions, outstanding service, and a relaxed hometown vibe made this a memorable stop. I'd absolutely come back the next time I'm in the area. Chef T's Scorecard: * Food: 9/10 * ‍ Service: 10/10 (Thanks, Berkley!) * Value: 9/10 * Atmosphere: 8.5/10 Overall: Sometimes the best meals aren't found where everyone else is eating--they're found where the locals are. The Glass Cat Cafe is one of those places.

We ordered the country fried chicken with hash browns and the pumpkin pancakes, and every single thing on my plate was incredible. The hash browns were crispy perfection, the country fried chicken was flavorful and comforting, and the pumpkin pancakes were honestly some of the best I've had in a very long time. They were perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and just the right amount of sweet and pumpkin. On top of the amazing food, the service was fantastic. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. If you're looking for a great local breakfast spot, don't let the small hole in the wall appearance fool you. this place is absolutely worth the visit, we'll definitely be back!
