I would've recommended this place because it's clean and the ingredients seem very honest and true to the description. but i had a little bit of unfortunate experience tonight because of the service. here's what happened... i got here at 9:05pm. i saw the store hours was until 930pm on Thursdays. i only ordered 1 passion mango drink and a crunchy bowl for $23. after i placed my order, i even tipped $5 (IN CASH) to the worker and she sees me place the tip in the jar. i felt bad for ordering within 30 minutes of closing. but i did not expect the worker to be in a noticeably bad mood as she was taking my order. she was extremely short with me this whole time. she didn't exchange pleasantries such as good evening or thank you. here's more bad experience from that night: when i got my orders: passion mango drink, it was half the cup as you see in the picture. and the bowl was uncovered. she just left my orders on the counter without proper notice. i felt scared to ask for a cover for the bowl. so i just left. i don't know man, i just felt like crap after that experience. read more

Stopped by on a rainy day and I was pleasantly surprised to find their açaí is more like Brazilian açaí than the sweet, açaí most people are used to. I wasn't a fan of the employees attitudes. You could tell they didn't want to be there and didn't want to interact with people at all. We tried the Tiger açaí bowl and I thought it was soo good! Although, I would argue there is no way I received "double strawberry" as the menu stated I should. It was literally 2 strawberries cut into multiple pieces. That's pretty rude if that's actually considered double. Especially when I paid $17 for this. Other than the lack of strawberries, the amount received of the other ingredients was very proportional and enjoyable. I really liked that the açaí wasn't overly sweet and the layering they did was perfect. I saw multiple reviews upset by the presentation of these bowls and I think the business could use some explanation to their customers that come in. Like asking if it's their first time, then explaining the concept to them if it is. I've had similar bowls before so I wasn't shocked by the protein powder or the layering, etc. The price is way too high for the small cup you get. Nearly $20 is not worth it to me especially when they don't give an appropriate amount of fruit. While I enjoyed it, I cannot justify paying for it again. Flavor gets a solid 4 but it dropping a star because of the employees attitudes and absurd price. read more

OAKBERRY AÇAI @ HILLCREST Parking is available in their lot for free, but it can get pretty busy since it's shared with other stores in the plaza. I decided to place an online order and got their regular small 12-ounce açaí bowl. What I love is that it's a build-your-own style -- you can add as many toppings as you want for one set price (unless you choose premium add-ons that cost extra). When I arrived, the shop itself was quite small, with only two chairs and a bar table for seating. I noticed my order being made, and one thing that surprised me was that their açaí base came out of a machine. I expected it to be fresher, but it turned out to be more on the watery, slushy side rather than thick and creamy. Another thing I noticed was that I asked for bananas, but both times I've been there, they forgot to include them. I also observed that the worker used the same gloves for everything -- scooping granola, handling cups, and even grabbing fresh fruit. It made me a little uncomfortable since there weren't separate utensils used for things like strawberries or blueberries. That said, the worker was still very kind, and our orders were ready within about 10 minutes. if you're in the area and want something quick, this spot could be worth a try -- just know the texture is more slushy than your typical thick açaí bowl. read more

First time trying Oakberry! I love acai bowls and will look forever to find the perfect one. I did an online order and asked for double everything I had gotten. I was super excited to try this place and it was super easy to find. When I walked in I told them what I had ordered and she was still working on it. In total I believe I waited about 15 minutes for it to be ready. Right off the bat, I noticed that there was not much fruit, despite ordering extra. There was about 5 blueberries, a small scoop of mango, and half a cut strawberry on top. At first glance did not seem worth the amount paid for the acai bowl. Once I tried it, I really loved the base. Since it's in a cup, it's a little hard to get to the peanut butter and granola at the bottom so you kind of need to eat it in the order that it's layered. In my opinion I like the bowls where the toppings are more spread out but it wasn't a big deal - it's just a lot of acai after you get through the fruit layer. The mango was delicious and the rest of the fruit was very fresh. It does come out of a container in the cabinet however. None the less, it was still very delicious. The only reason I took away a star for this place was because of the lack of fruits given even though it was supposedly extra. I would still come here again and had a pleasant experience! read more

Saw this place in the shopping plaza while getting bagels. You could create your own bowl. I got the 12 oz and it was $11.95. They had options for a set menu too. Not toooo many fruit options-strawberry, blueberry, banana, blackberry. Only had açaí flavor as a base. Chia seed pudding options and matcha. Their granola and almonds and PB were amazing. OAKBERRY Açai and smoothies shop had its soft opened last week at the Hillcrest HUB. The space was formerly occupied by a a high end jewelry shop and is between a mail service shop and a tatoo shop. Plenty of free parking in the lot or beneath the subterranean. The shop is new, clean and organized as to be expected from a new business. My first introduction to OAKBERRY was in Century City next to Beverly Hills. Liked it then and am so glad they opened one here. There are multiple locations throughout SoCal, the other close by would be Pacific Beach. Oakberry's focal product revolves around the açai berry, a berry that's high in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals healthy for you. The menu consists of various sizes on the açai and you choose the toppings of fruits, nuts, syrups and staffer creatively layers it all in the container. You're then presented with a vibrant healthy meal that's is good for you and offers healthy benefits. Additionally, smoothies, packaged snacks are also offered. Other customers and myself were informed that they didn't have any bananas so we couldn't include that in our order :( I later realized this shop is steps away from two grocery markets: Ralphs and Trader Joe's with plenty of bananas they can purchase...so there was no excuse for this shop not to have bananas in supply, so I was disappointed that management couldn't be proactive and make sure to have bananas. The shop currently has one bench along the wall for seating. No outdoor seating :( Staff were nice and helpful, and more importantly before starting my order, she wore a fresh pair of gloves before handling any foods...yay! The building plaza has at least 8 fitness/workout studios and having Oakberry Açai makes for a welcome addition to this health and fitness conscious community. Recommend. read more

Tried the smoothie today. It sounded great on paper -- fresh berries, coconut water instead of juice. And honestly, the berries did taste fresh, which I appreciated. But overall? It just wasn't it. The smoothie tasted almost like the ones I make at home... except somehow, way less exciting. Definitely not something I'd buy again. There are also pretty big limitations when it comes to substitutions and add-ons. For example, I LOVE peanut butter in my smoothies -- but that's not even an option here. Total bummer. Now, let's talk about the straw. I'm all for sustainable options, but this one literally cracked into several pieces before I was halfway done. It completely disintegrated. I had to grab a real straw out of my car just to finish drinking it. (Pro tip: always keep extras!) Still giving a yay for the açaí bowls (well, the cups) -- they're actually really close to what I make at home and still a solid option. But the smoothie (and especially the straw situation)? Smoothie Review: I had the very berry smoothie with pomegranate Pom juice. Soooo delicious and perfectly tart. I adore a TART smoothie. You can also do coconut water instead of Pom juice, which I find unique compared to other smoothie places. It was about $10. Tasted fresh. Employees were kind, there was no line and it was quick. That's pretty insane for a smoothie with granola. I could've moved past the first two noticeable disappointments but I had asked if whey protein could be added to the bowl as well. ASK ABOUT THE BOOSTERS it's okay but ask about how things are placed in the bowl/smoothie before trying it. i got the matcha acai bowl and it was nice i even added some collagen for the extra protein and skincare but they added it in the worst way possible: straight dry scoop into a half-prepared cup. If i knew it was going to be thrown in just like that i would have asked them to mix it in. I had a mouthful of powder midway . Also be careful about the "honey"- it's came in a white substance as the drizzle and it just looked so sus. it got the goji berries that it came with all stuck together and ended up in the crevices of my teeth. Wow, my husband and I just came here to get açaí bowls and all I can say is wow. It's hard to mess up on an açaí bowl but this was by far the worst açaí bowl I have ever had... and it was $19 btw. I had vanilla protein in mine and when the kid behind the counter handed me my "bowl" (kid was very nice, none of this is his fault), there was a layer of POWDERED vanilla protein in the middle of a smoothie cup, layered between LIQUID açaí. I was flabbergasted. I asked him did you just layer powdered protein in the middle? I assumed the protein would have been blended into the açaí. No it was not. The açaí was not anywhere near frozen and was pure liquid, with protein powder on top. The construction of this "bowl" was in a smoothie cup not a bowl - so literally impossible to eat. terrible customer service. i walked in and there was someone in line and someone sitting down. the person that was in line was patiently waiting for her order to be taken but even when i walked in, the girl with green hair streaks failed to greet us. she had her back turned the entire time with zero assurance that we'd be helped soon or that we were even there. she was making the person order who was sitting down but usually at any food service place, they take the orders, then make all of them at once instead of taking one order, making it, taking one order, making it, etc. she had such a depressing facial expression too. i felt quite unwelcomed and walked right out after about 10 minutes of being unnoticed. read more

There is no sign saying that they're away for break or what have you sign actually says they are open however like I said, the door is locked and there's no one there and no indication of where the workers might be Myself and multiple other customers have come up.
