Oakobing has been on my LA bookmarks for several years, and this year I finally made it! Unfortunately, my experience was embarrassed disappointment. Mainly, I'm a fan of naturally made fresh fruit shaved ice, and Oakobing doesn't satisfy that requirement. Additionally, I prefer less sweet desserts, and this taste also registered at an above average level, even without the condensed milk. It was like artificial sweetener and dye already integrated into the ice block. The people saying it's not that sweet are accustomed to LA tastebuds, I guess. Back in NorCal, our desserts are definitely not as sweet as LA desserts, as well as boba, I've experienced. Yes, the snow is delicate and soft, I'll give it that. But those artificial syrups, dyes, and sweeteners are almost inedible to me. That, and the fruits weren't near ripe. In fact, the fruits were pre-frozen, which is not a good thing. I thought I was imagining things, but the second one I tried also exhibited the artificiality despite being a matcha base (how does that even happen?). I felt bad because the service was very nice, but I struggled eating it because I disliked the taste; I just didn't want to waste food and effort. We did metered street parking, which didn't seem to be as bad to obtain as it could have been around this area.There are some chain bingsoo places in other parts of LA that I much preferred over Oakobing. My bar for shaved ice is Island Vintage Shave Ice in Hawaii, and MandRo Teahouse in NorCal by the way.
This place was soooo busy but it was a Friday night. But after tasting my Mango Melon Shaved Ice I understood the hype. It was fresh, refreshing, and delicious. Sweet but not too sweet (which is the best compliment for Asian desserts). Seating was a challenge with it being busy but we found a separate back room area and lucked out. They also have onsite parking behind the shop.
8.5/10 Got the mango bingsu. Really delicious and the perfect dessert after dinner. Great mango flavor and the condensed milk on the side is always a great touch. I'd definitely come back to try other flavors.
The very first time I had Korean-style shaved ice, Bingsu was in Shin-Ookubo, Japan 2 years ago. I loved it so much and had been wanting to have it again. And if you're in LA, you can! My son recommended Oakobing and my wish was finally granted! It was pretty late at night and we didn't think we could handle the regular size so the three of us shared two small ones. We ordered the Mango Melon and the Injeolmi. I was a little disappointed with the Mango Melon. I really couldn't taste much mango, and unfortunately, the melon balls weren't quite ripe so they weren't sweet at all. Overall, it was lacking both flavor and sweetness. I enjoyed the Injeolmi much more! Both came with a side of milk drizzle. I believe it was condensed milk, but it was much thinner than regular condensed milk. I actually could have used a little more of it! Even though it was late at night, the place was still very busy. If we get a chance to go back, I'd definitely like to try some of their other flavors!
Love it here! After a late dinner, we always somehow find ourselves at Oakobing It's basically the Asian version of a raspado, but taken to another level! The shaved ice comes in so many delicious flavors, and there are so many fun ways to mix it up with condensed milk, caramel, fresh fruit, and all kinds of toppings. It's light, refreshing, sweet, and perfect when you want dessert without something super heavy. Definitely one of our favorite late-night dessert spots!
This was a great shaved ice spot, although the interior of the dessert spot was a bit worn down, humid, and smelled funny. You order digitally and wait for the worker to call your name. We ordered the melon shaved ice and the yak-gwa special. I liked the special as it contained mochi and the shaved ice was nice and milky. The melon shaved ice was also fruity and refreshing. It was interesting that it came with evaporated milk as I normally have shaved ice with condensed milk, but it made sense as the shaved ice was already quite sweet. Was definitely worth a try - hope they figure out the ventilation as it was quite stuffy in there.
The fans or the AC weren't on when we came by one evening. There was a lot of people that were inside, but we were able to lineup. The line didn't take too long. You can order at the kiosk and there are two kiosks working at a time. Despite how long the wait was to order, I feel like the staff were very efficient and made our bingsoo orders very quickly! We ate from the strawberry bingsoo and the mango bingsoo and dined inside. The matcha latte was very strong matcha-flavored & had a good anount of shaved ice ontop as well. Once you get the bingsoo, the feeling of the heat goes away. I am in love with this dessert because it is perfect for the summer nights and they do not taste overly sweet. Eating bingsoo feels refreshing! This is a good spot. A lot of people come here and hang out. There is also a back area hallway that leads into more tables but there was stuffy air in there. Overall, it was great, but the hot air made us uncomfortable to stay inside. I wish they had working AC for better comfort. Everyone finishes quick and leaves.
So glad I got to try this place today. They open at 1pm and we got there just as it opened. No one in line on a Monday Afternoon. It's really good that they have small and large sizes to choose from. I ordered the single size which is perfect. The mango melon is very refreshing and just perfect.
Came here after having KBBQ and wanted something light and refreshing for dessert! We came around 7PM and there was a short line but it moved fast. The inside can get pretty stuffy but there's some extra seating all the way in the back! For a group of 6, we got two regular sized orders to share. I really loved the Injeonmi flavor! You could really taste the soybean powder and the mochi paired so well with it. The condensed milk was also the perfect sweetness to add to the ice which wasn't that sweet. Unfortunately I didn't love the mango as much. I had high expectations but the mango ice tasted a little artificial and was too sweet. The fresh mango pieces were good though! Overall I thought it was a solid dessert spot but nothing really stood out.
This is still my favorite bingsu cafe and I will continue to come by when I'm in the area! They have plenty of seating snd their bingsu is delicious. My favorite flavors are their melon and mango. This time we decided to try the strawberry matcha and it was good too! Perfect for the summer and service is always quick and friendly :) There's a parking garage so parking is not bad at all!
This is a dessert spot in k town that I've been wanting to try for a while and it was a hot day so why not today. We ordered the mango melon shaved ice. The melon balls melt easy in your mouth and the mango shavings add a nice texture. I really like how the shaved ice comes in an actual melon. It also came with this milk/cream that you can pour on top which makes it really creamy. I love how overall the dessert isn't too sweet and it's very refreshing. In terms of portions, the large shaved ice is really huge. It's good for 2-4 people. They also have mini sizes available if you're solo or just don't want to share lol. Ordering here is really easy. They have two kiosks in the front where you can order from and pick up when it's ready. They have a decent amount of available seating, however it does tend to get packed pretty quickly. Luckily we were able to grab a table. I'll definitely be back to try more flavors. Try it out if you like. :)
After a delicious lunch, my niece and I were on a mission for desserts. This location of Oakobing is in Koreatown was within walking distance so we decided to check it out. For those driving here, we did notice it was connected to small parking structure. Upon entering the front, there were 2 kiosks. We had no interaction with staff. There was no customization with the selections and there was no one to ask. For instance the mango shaved snow came with the melon. I wanted the strawberry shaved snow with the melon balls but they didn't have that option. When you order additional toppings, they leave it on the side. Not visually appealing at all. My niece and I shared the Strawberry Shaved Ice ($18.99) and added Mochi ($2.50) and Melon Balls ($4.25). After you order from the kiosk, you seat yourself and they'll call your number when your order ready. I really like their shaved ice here because the ice is creamy and flavored before they shave it so it's extra flavorful and creamy. It's just really expensive for what it is and especially pricey when you want additional ingredients. Most other shaved ice businesses will allow multiple ingredients for a portion of the cost. One thing that was weird is how it came in a plate instead of a bowl shaped container. Eat quick and make sure it doesn't tip over. I'm so torn because I like the product after the addition of more toppings, but I'm not sure it's worth the price. Also no staff interaction and lacking customization makes my experience as a customer frustrating and limited. Not sure if I would come back.
Sooo good and portions are huge. My boyfriend and i made the mistake of getting one small and one large--DO NOT BE FOOLED, a large is MORE than enough for two people lol The only thing that kinda sucks is that for both the small and the large, they each get the same amount of sweetened milk to pour over the top. I feel like the large should get a bigger portion but idk maybe that's just me. It also sucks because if you want more of the milk topping you have to pay extra, sooo :/ Otherwise, I loved it and I'll definitely be back to try the other flavors!

Located in Koreatown, Oakobing is a popular Korean shaved ice spot, perfect for after a meal nearby! I love coming here for a quick refreshing dessert. The matcha and strawberry bingsoo are my favorite but I decided to go with the mango melon this time, honestly you can't miss with any of the flavors! All are so refreshing and light! It does get pretty busy here but tables and seatings do open up pretty quick too, if not, they have some standing space to enjoy your treat too! read more

Pretty good shaved ice that's light and fluffy. Unfortunately, the mango melon one wasn't as good as it looked. The mango flavor tasted artificial and the melon isn't in season so it tasted like ice. The injeolmi was much better. Not too sweet and easier to finish. I recommend the single size for 2-3 people because it's pretty large. Not crowded at all on a Tuesday afternoon and plenty of seating indoors. Neighborhood parking across the street. read more

Oakobing is the perfect spot when you want something light, refreshing, and beautifully done. The shaved ice was incredibly fine and fluffy--almost snow-like--and melted perfectly with each bite. The mango bowl was bright and juicy with fresh fruit that tasted ripe and natural, not syrupy. The red bean option was just as good: lightly sweet, comforting, and perfectly balanced with the ice. What really stood out was how clean and delicate the flavors were. Nothing felt overly sweet or heavy, which made it easy to enjoy the whole bowl without feeling overwhelmed. Been wanting to try this place out for forever and it did not disappoint!! We got the seasonal special strawberry melon and a smaller size of the Oreo tiramisu. The portion of the strawberry melon was actually so big, definitely enough to split amongst like 3 people. The fruits were both super sweet, I especially loved the melon! The ice itself is firmer at first and then melts into like ice cream in your mouth. The Oreo tiramisu was also really good, I've never had a flavor quite like it, it definitely is quite heavy on the coffee flavor though, especially with the sauce. My friend and I decided to grab some dessert after having some lunch at a nearby restaurant. This oakobing is located at the bottom level of a building near a sunright tea studio. There's a dedicated parking lot for it towards the back that's accessible by going through a little street/alley way. This oakobing was pretty busy when we arrived. There was already 2-3 parties eating. Our order was taken by a kiosk. We ordered a mango melon single serving and a strawberry single serving. They were both really good. The ice was soft and creamy. It melted right on my tongue. My favorite was probably the mango melon because the combination was delicious. I didn't realize how complementary the mango and melon would be. Strawberry was also good; I just preferred the mango melon. This place is a little unkept. The table we were sitting at was sticky and messy. We cleaned it up ourselves before sitting down. The floors are also a little sticky. If it was a little cleaner, my review would have been higher. read more

This was our first time here, and our friends Sean recommended it. He's actually been here quite a few times already! He's the guy on the left. We didn't find street parking, but we did see that there was a parking lot that we could drive into through the alley. We take an immediate left into the covered parking garage, where a valet guy greets you. It's five dollars to park there. Then you walk through the doors by the parking lot and you can find the back door of the dessert shop. Or you could go outside through the little alleyway that is lit up pretty well even at night, and walk through the front glass doors as well. It was very busy when we walked in, guessing it's always busy as we heard. This is a popular hotspot! We waited in line just a little bit, but not too long as there's at least three registers that are able to take peoples orders. Everything seem to be pretty digital so you can just select what you want from the menu. This place has a different monthly special items menu so you can check out their newest creation! The month of April they had some marshmallow toppings on top, looked pretty yummy and fluffy. We decided to get three different singleserving ones so we can kind of try a little bit of everything! The line wasn't too long, but there were no tables on the inside. We were lucky to get the little sidewall area that kind of has a ledge and you can stay standing. It's fine though it's probably better digestion to stand, and I didn't feel like waiting for other tables to get up. There are also tables outside too, however we went at night so Too chilly for me to want to sit outside and eat a cold dessert. lol We ordered : Single Mango Melon Shaved Ice Single Strawberry Shaved Ice Single Injeolmi Shaved Ice The wait time to get everything wasn't super bad! It's really hard to say, which was the best one! I personally love strawberries in general, but I will say that the mango one was pretty tasty, but out of the three we all felt like the single INJEOLMI flavor was the best of the three! I don't even know what is made of technically, but pure magic goodness! Make sure to eat your dessert ASAP, especially if it is on a hot day and you're outside of course. I like that the fruit is fresh here and the mint leaves were also fresh! They also have an assortment of lattes here.. maybe we'll try that another time.. I think next time I'll order a side of their fresh fruit, I wish it came with a little bit more fruit, but maybe that's a personal thing for me! Came here on a Sunday around 5pm ordered in the tablet. Service was fine wish they had a loud speaker to say order names. Inside small. Ordered the strawberry flavor it was a good size. It was soft and tasteful. The milk comes in a small cup it's not condensed milk drizzle. Overall good for price to taste. read more

Oakobing LA serves some of the best bingsu I've had--definitely a 10/10 especially their matcha and mango. Both incredibly full of flavor. The shop itself is a bit small and can feel cramped during busy times. That said, if you're coming with a large group, don't expect to find seating. Order your bingsu to go. The covered parking was a huge plus and made visiting much more convenient. I would definitely come back if I am ever in the area. read more

One of the best Bingsoo locations in the LA area. At night it is completely packed but the workers do everything they can to make sure everyone gets their order right. There is very minimal customer to worker interaction. Just an automated voiceover calling orders and you order through a kiosk. We had ordered their Mango Melon & Oreo Tiramisu flavors. The Mango Melon was Mango ice with Melon fruit on the side. Very good, sweet and the shaved ice had lots of creaminess in it. Both sizes were single and me and my girlfriend were able to share! Top quality and was also paired with Condensed milk and Mochi! If you are to go here, try going a little early just because of how packed it gets! read more
Even late at night on a weekday there was a lot of people here! I got their strawberry shaved ice and with the number of people here it did take a while to get it. Even though there's seating, you may also need to wait a bit for a spot. For the shaved ice itself, I really enjoyed it! read more

How can you go wrong with this spot! Flavor in every bite!!!! So good! I think I tried every menu here but my favorite one is the strawberry But I say try every single flavors! The space is small so if you don't mind taking it Togo I highly recommend it. They pack it pretty well for you so I wouldn't worry. The surf is decent, but not excellent. Definitely could improve in that area. If you haven't checked this place out I definitely recommend checking it out and trying to shave eyes. Every bite will be wonderful. read more

Came in after getting dinner in the area and wanting a sweet treat. Some of the group recommended Oakobing and ordered the large Injeolmi shaved ice with mochi/ sweet red beans and condensed milk. The large was the perfect amount shared between the 5 of us. The shaved ice was delicious too! Only downside is it is very popular and limited seating for busy nights. We ordered at the kiosk and then had to wait and watch for groups leaving. So it can be a bit of a mad house in there depending on the night and foot traffic. read more
One of my favorite places for bingsu! Shaved ice here is creamy and has good flavor. Aesthetic bingsu. The regular sizes are huge and can split a group of 4. The injeolmi latte was amazing as well. Comes with a bit shaved ice and strong injeolmi flavors. Ordered at the kiosk and came out fairly quick. Late night is usually busy and have to wait for chairs and tables but they have some seating outside. read more

Soft flavorful shaved ice Sooo good!! This place reminds me of the shaved ice I got in Asia and it has been a journey looking for a place that reminds me of home. The wait isn't too terrible, self checkout, good amount of seating, and friendly staff who aren't shy with the ice. Pricing isn't too bad $22 for 3 add ons and the shaved ice. The mango melon was almost too pretty to eat--almost. A towering mound of shaved ice cream, golden mango slices draped over the top like delicate ribbons, and little melon balls scattered throughout like tiny bursts of summer. It didn't stand a chance. Three spoons. Three people. Gone in minutes. The little melon balls were an unexpected delight, adding just the right amount of texture to the creamy, icy perfection. "This is genius," I mumbled between bites, scooping up another spoonful. "Whoever decided to put actual melon balls in here deserves a raise." I paused, staring at my spoon. "I love me some balls," I said absentmindedly. Silence. Then laughter. "Oh--wait. No! That's not what I meant!" I sputtered, cheeks warming. I can be so silly sometimes. The menu was small, which I appreciated--fewer options meant less time spent overthinking my order, a curse I was all too familiar with. I already knew what I was coming back for next: the Strawberry Shaved Ice Cream. If it was anything like the mango melon, I'd probably inhale it just as fast. I leaned back in my chair, letting the last bit of sweetness linger on my tongue, feeling that rare, quiet kind of joy that only comes from good food and good company. There is always a big line, and it is for good reason! The wait is not too bad, since the service is quick once you place an order on the kiosk. My group tried the seasonal mango melon bingsu and matcha bingsu, and both were delicious! The melon balls paired with the soft, creamy ice was such a refreshing dessert. The matcha flavor was nice and balanced, not too sweet, and the mochi added such a great texture overall. If you happen to be in the K-Town area, I would check it out! The service is minimal. You order from a self service kiosk. The shaved ice is light and fluffy with. I tried the mango with mochi. I was surprised that the ice contained dairy, and they give you a side of sweet milk. I didn't use very much off the sweet milk. I found the dessert sweet enough without it. All in all it was ok. I think it's because I prefer the Hawaiian shaved ice. My daughter enjoyed her honey dew melon very much. The space is nothing special and the trash smelled. read more

I've heard amazing things about Oakobing and was not disappointed - looks like I found my new go-to dessert spot in K-town. The small size is perfect for 2 people to share, and the large is great for a big group. I've had the mango melon flavor twice and it's to die for. It's light and airy, not too sweet, and the perfect mix of creamy and icy. It gets pretty packed, especially on the weekends with students, so be prepared to camp for seats, especially if you have a big group. I'd definitely recommend checking Oakobing out if you're in K-town - you can't go wrong! read more
This Korean shaved ice place is great. We got the mango, strawberry and matcha. All were very good and soft and fluffy. It wasn't overly sweet and good portions. The line does get long and busy but it doesn't take too long for your order to be ready. read more

Honestly some of the best Bingsu you can find. When we went the place was packed, hot, and sweaty. Good luck finding a table on a weekend, and when you do, be prepared for it to be extra sticky (they are so popular they don't have time to wipe down tables between customers). Overall, great Bingsu, chaotic environment, probably would still return. read more
If you're in the mood for a light sweet treat, you definitely have to check this place out. My son sent me this spot and I decided to treat him. We decided on the Melon Strawberry shaved iced which comes with a cream topping which paired so well with the ice. There are 3 kiosk to place your order which makes the process so easy. Presentation wise this was an art piece! I spent about $17 on the ice which can easily be shared between 4 people. I would definitely recommend sharing this experience with someone. A must try when you're in the area. read more

I was in the area for lunch and googled "dessert." Oakobing pops up, so I make a u-turn and managed to find street parking mid day. Totally worth the u-turn! Good quality, inconsistent sizes, but oh so refreshing! read more
I went on Sunday afternoon and it was super crowded, so you might have to wait a bit for seats. I got the mango and mango melon -- both were really good, but honestly, they tasted pretty much the same. Kinda wish I tried something different, like the strawberry shaved ice. read more

The shaved ice was amazing. This is probably the best shaved ice I have had. The flavors are strong but not too sweet. The texture is creamy and easily melts in your mouth. The service was super fast. We ordered 2 shaved ices which were done in just a minute. One large shaved ice can feed up to 4 people because the portions are large!! The place was quite packed but there were seats outside as well. read more
Really delicious and worth trying. The place is small but has enough sitting area. You order from a screen and it comes really quickly. I ordered the Injeolmi Shaved Ice and it was very tasty, I thought it came with condensed milk but was just milk I believe, nonetheless it was still flavorful and the mochi was enjoyable. read more
Such a fun concept for a dessert place! Good: - Huge portion sizes, we got 3 personal sized ones and it was too much for sure - Really tasty mochi sides, I liked how chewy each ball was - Loved the mango and strawberry flavors! I like how the shaved ice cream is very light and not too filling, not too sweet - I liked how many options and customizations you could get Bad: - Lots of people so seating is a luxury but we got a nice long table! Overall a fun hang to go to with more than 2 friends! read more
This place deserves the hype. You would think that shaved ice can only go so far but THIS shaved ice is creamy and full of flavor. The milk they offer for you to pour on top is a MUST. I would say that you'd be happy with either on that you try. This place is always full so be prepared for a crowd! Go with friends and share one every the single serving was a lot. yes. there's no meat products, just hold the condensed milk.

it is actually pretty awesome!! they put them in these little paper cups and have ice packs in the packaging so they are still frozen when they arrive.
