Love Oakobing! Usually I have a great experience because the shaved ice quality is pretty good and ends up being pretty creamy. I've gotten the Oreo shaved ice and the strawberry Matcha shaved ice in the past and both have been pretty delicious. Service is minimal because you just order on the screen and then your dessert will come out fairly quickly. Luckily, we went on a weekday so it wasn't as busy but other reviews have said that there's sometimes a line. Ambience is fairly snug with limited seating if you visit during peak hours. Parking is limited outside to street parking and metered parking.
This place is really enjoyable! Paying upfront might be a little different, but it's all part of the experience. We enjoyed some delicious Matcha, mango , and melon --all very refreshing and clean. Just a heads-up, it tends to get quite busy after 3pm on Sundays, so it's a cozy, family-friendly spot with small seating. Hope you have a great time!
We entered, it's a small place, but it was nice and bright. We ordered on the screen, paid, and then waited for them to call us. The shaved ice came out quickly. So glad we came before the rush as after we got our shaved ice, there ran out of seats! The ice was very soft and we loved how it was not too sweet but we could add some watered down condensed milk on top if we wanted to. The flavors also really came through in the ice. The whole dessert was absolutely light, refreshing, and delicious. They also have lattes and croffles. I highly recommend. We got the mango melon & strawberry matcha shaved ice. Will definitely be back to try the strawberry and black sesame!
This location is small and the line was long but the service is fast. You can't really see the employees of the store because you wait in line order at the single kiosk then pick up your order. This dessert is amazing though. I am hooked and will be looking for this stuff in any city I visit. Cheers!

presentation here is phenomenal. they had a huuuuuuuge shaved snow with a little pyramid wall of melon balls and a light milk drizzle. the mango snow was ok, it wasn't creamy enough to my liking and the flavor was mid. i didn't like the lack of toppings variety here, and the snow not being of a stand out flavor/texture made it just average for me. my dog liked it tho
Walked over after having dinner nearby. It was just ok. The dessert is refreshing but mochi was tiny and hard. The menu is very limited. The portion is huge and definitely shareable. The matcha latte was not good. It tasted artificial.
This is one of the dessert spots I keep coming back to. Compared to other places in Pasadena, it's a solid option for both price and quality. My girlfriend and I usually go for the injeolmi and then pick another flavor depending on the day. I was a bit disappointed to see that they no longer carry black sesame. I've seen people complain about the wait time, but the shop is usually run by just one or two people, so a line is kind of expected. If there's a long wait, it might be better to try somewhere else nearby.
I came here with my sister in a hot day. Definitely the place to be when we wanted a cold sweet treat. We ordered from the kiosk and waited at the table. It is a small place with some tables. The place had a a clean look to it. They also have free water. My sister got the Oreo tiramisu and I got the strawberry. We liked that they come in individual sizes but even then I think we could've shared. Both were super refreshing although I definitely liked the strawberry more because it was more refreshing.
This was my first time experiencing bingsu and it did not disappoint. Although this is located in the heart of Pasadena, the distance it took to get there is well worth it. Many flavors and side options to choose from. I had the Injeolmi and the mixture of milk and red beans is just pure heaven!

UPDATED: It took 1 hour and 20 minutes to get shaved ice. We drove here specifically to try this place as kiddo and hubby wanted shaved ice. We arrived to a packed cafe but we still got in line to order something from a kiosk as the line wasn't bad. While the line was short the line didn't move very fast at all. All the tables were full but no one except one table was eating any shaved ice. While we waited to order an announcement came over the PA not to order extra fruit. Then a few minutes later, they announced that they were cutting off orders then another 10 minutes they shut down orders until 4pm. I'm an hour in and I still do not have any shaved iced. I don't care how popular or viral a place gets. When you have two people in the back and backed up orders that you can't fill, you simply don't know the operations portion of your business. You could pay two, three more kids $15 bucks and rake in more profits. Instead you have a bunch of pissed off people. Below is a picture of the shaved ice of the only people eating in the full cafe when I walked in. I wonder if we will ever get ours?
So we came today from an instagram post and so did almost everyone else here. Needless to say they were not prepared at all!! There was 1 worker all by herself and she tried her best. However we all waited well over an hour for shaved ice. She had to shut down orders because she couldn't keep up on a hot, busy Saturday!! We were told 20 min wait time but over an hour later, we finally got our order. It wasn't even in order since the lady behind us who I helped place the order got hers before all of us. 2 girls order 38&39 was waiting before us how why did 44 get hers before all of us. Who knows. She tried her best but needed help!! Once the owner finally showed up, they opened back up for orders even though they still haven't caught up??!?!! Who knows. As for the actual mango single, it was very refreshing and not too sweet at all! Great treat on a hot day. The food itself is probably a 4. However service and then having to pay extra for more parking since they took soo long was a bit much. We drive all the way from the OC so we had to be patient. Worth a try if you can go when there is no crowds!!

The store has both indoor and outdoor seating. You can park at nearby strctures and just a little walk away. I tried the new flavor black sesame shaved ice which comes with red bean, mochi and condensed milk. I ordered for takeout. Very simple at their kiosk. Comes with a little ic pack so your dessert doesn't melt on the way home. I didn't realize they have smaller "single" portions. If you're eating this alone maybe get that. It was a bit large for me haha. Very tasty tho. All their flavors look good. Will need to come back to try the others. Staff was nice. read more
The texture of this shaved ice is not my favorite. If you like very finely shaved, this is not that. The flavor is great - love injeolmi. They layer the toppings a lot too so you won't end up with unflavored ice at the bottom. You order through an ipad and pick up at the counter. Very convenient and quick. It's a pretty small space, but cute inside. Fun for a quick dessert but maybe not the best for large parties. read more

The store greeted us with 7-8 tables inside and 2 tables outside. We had to walk all the way inside through the tables of people indulging in the bingsoos. Then, we found a kiosk to order without human interaction. It was an easy ordering process. The employee called out my name to pick up the order, and then we sat down to eat. Everything was self-service so we cleaned our own table. We ordered greentea bingsoo and omg it was delicious!! The red bean was not mushy and sweet enough that it complemented the greentea so well. We ordered another side of the red bean to finish our bingsoo. The rice cake wasn't our favorite as it was hard to chew. Otherwise, yum! I will come back to different flavors!! read more

This place is a great go to for a cold dessert! The matcha condensed milk was my personal favorite. Service is quite fast & seating might be tough when it's crowded. There is a parking structure across the street for $5, but free street parking is tough. read more
Great price and great options especially if you and your parties want different flavors you can opt for a single serving which is still a decent size for a great price. The place is definitely on the tiny size with an only row of tables to sit at so be on the lookout for a table to clear while you're in line, they do provide a map of where outdoor tables are located at also on the door. The shaved ice itself is super flavorful and fluffy. Not your typical shaved ice that you would think of with the hard ice textures. Here, it's as if you're biting into pillows of ice. Definitely worth the wait in line. read more

I've been to the LA Oakobing location on my previous trip to SoCal, so when I found out that we were residing in Pasadena for a night, I knew I had to take the five minute drive to check this place out! A single melon mango bingsu was enough for both my mom & I to finish. We later got some matcha bingsu take-out for my brother & dad with some red bean and mochi add-ons for an enhanced texture and flavor! I highly recommend coming here. My only con is that seating can be difficult, there are a lot of young people stopping by to chat and socialize inside the store. read more
The store is located right next to a parking lot which is a plus , though there aren't much option for one hour parking there and you'd either have to pay $10-15 for all day to overnight to park for convenience. I would suggest parking at the local lot and waking to the store as a better , cheaper option. I wasn't too happy with the cleanliness of the store it was a little dirty and everything needs a good wipe down. I'll let you be the judge of the seating booths . The shaved ice cream was amazing !!! It tasted great, I'd definitely go there again probably not eat inside unless it's a lot cleaner. The server was somewhat friendly and the good thing is there isn't much interaction because you place your order in store at a kiosk. read more

Oakobing is my go-to dessert spot in Pasadena for an irresistible shaved ice treat. The texture of their ice is wonderfully soft, almost like eating a cloud of ice cream. My favorite flavor has to be the green tea, with its rich and refreshing taste, but the strawberry flavor is a close second, offering a delightful fruity burst. The toppings are also another highlight.The mochi is always perfectly chewy, adding a fantastic texture contrast, and the mint garnish provides the perfect hint of freshness to the dessert. I usually skip the extra condensed milk because the balance of sweetness is already spot-on. I would recommend going on weekdays because parking might be hard on the weekend. The place is also small but the service is fast, you can also get it for to go! If you're looking for a refreshing and satisfying dessert in Pasadena, Oakobing is the place to be. This place is great if you're looking for a nice cool treat on a hot day. I tried the mango melon shaved ice & it was yummy. The single size was enough for my boyfriend and I since we were looking for a small treat. Ordering was easy and it came out quickly. The only downside is that this location is pretty small. You might not find seating during their peak hours. Luckily, this dessert is best eaten quickly before it melts so I feel that people don't linger too long. Street parking in this area can be tricky because it's right in Old Town Pasadena. But there's a handful of parking garages that you can find. Overall, I think Oakobing has great portions for sharing. This dessert is good for a group of friends/ family. read more

I've had this place bookmarked for the longest time and I finally got to try it! Their Mango Melon Shaved Ice was incredibly refreshing and not overly sweet, which I appreciated. The Injeolmi Shaved Ice was a little sweeter but not overbearingly so--I also thought the mochi was a perfect topping with this flavor. read more
Overall very good. Cute place. Tasty treats. A bit on the messy side. We came in at the end of the night and the tables were a little dirty. The servings are HUGE, even the self serving. If you can, don't get a lid -it squishes it down and you don't get quite as much. Order and pay at a kiosk. They call your name when the order is ready and pick up at the counter. read more

First time at their Pasadena location, last time I went to the one in Korea town. Service was fast and they had plenty of seats indoors and outdoors. I like this location because there was plenty of parking. The bingsu was delicious, I added mango chunck and condensed milk for an extra kick. I can't get over how soft and fluffy it is. I ordered the mango melon shaved ice and the Oreo tiramisu shaved ice. I like how they serve single sized portions so that you can try multiple flavors. The mango melon one was not too sweet, and I liked the combination of mango and melon together! The oreo tiramisu missed the mark for me because there wasn't anything special about the flavor and combination. If you order the larger portion of the shaved ice, it comes with a shot of espresso syrup (mentioned on the menu), but sadly, the single sized portion of the oreo tiramisu did not. It would have greatly added flavor and uniqueness to the desert. We ordered on a tablet and then picked up the dessert at the counter when it was ready. Korean Bingsu is always good any day. The perfect sweet refreshing dessert without overwhelming your sugar senses. Food - 5/5 - I ordered the mango melon single serving bingsu and my friends got the strawberry and the injeolmi single servings. It was pretty large for a single serving. I really liked the mango melon. It was the perfect combo of mango and honeydew melon shaved ice and the honeydew balls were the perfect compliment to the shaved ice. The bingsu was fluffy, sweet and creamy but not "rich" like an ice cream or gelato would be. It's super refreshing. The strawberry tasted like a strawberry calpico and the injeolmi was the perfect nutty flavour. I highly recommend getting single servings because you can try more flavours. There are a limit for single serving flavours selection though, so be aware. Some flavours, like Black sesame, is full size serving only, which is quite big and best for 2+ people to share. Everything is topped with condensed milk, of course! Price - $$ - This isn't your standard ice cream pricing. It is about $6-8 per single serving (depending on if you add extra toppings and such). I think it's pretty worth it because bingsu is quite different and its for the vibes. Service - 5/5 - The girl serving us was really sweet and answered all our questions. She was the only one working but she was quite efficient and got our orders out really fast. Ambience - 4/5 - Cute and bright café aesthetics so the photo opportunities are really nice. I think this is a great place for friends to catch up, dates or just a nice family time. Location - 2/5 - Parking is quite difficult so be prepared to either do street parking or park in a structure and walk. Maybe get dropped off by an uber/lyft? It's not the most ideal location, so please be aware of that. (this does not affect my review, it's just so yall know) read more

My friends and I came here after lunch for some dessert and it was alright. First, the shaved ice was amazing and delicious. It was probably the best shaved ice I've ever had and I can definitely see the hype for this place. The bingsoo was light, fluffy, and very flavorful (despite being so airy and light). There were also many options to choose from and different sizes which is a plus. My issues with the place was (1) parking, (2) space, and (3) service. Good parking was really difficult to find. Although there is a parking space nearby, it costs $10 and when you're there for only 30 minutes-1 hour at most, it isn't worth it. I heard from my friend if you park about 1-2 blocks down, then you can get parking for much much cheaper. The space inside the shop was also very limited. Although my friends and I went when it was pretty slow (there was only us and two other groups in there), it felt very cramped. Service was also pretty slow and it felted like they were annoyed with us. Although we did take a while to order, there wasn't anyone else there and we ordered on a screen. I would definitely come back but probably at another location. read more

Great food. I went on Sunday afternoon and it was super busy. We were able to order food but they didn't have enough space for people to sit. Other customers seemed concerned about the same thing. I think I'm multiple times, and each time is just as great as the past ones. This time, I got the green tea shaved ice, and when it came out, I was genuinely surprised at how high they piled the shaved ice. The desert itself is not too sweet, which is perfect for me. The store also offers a variety of flavors ranging from mango and strawberry to injeolmi and black sesame. They also now have milkshakes but I didn't get a chance to try it this time. There isn't too much service going on since you order via the kiosk and put the tray back after yourselves, but they are quick to get your order to you. The seating is comfortable but the place does fill up fairly quickly in the post-dinner hours. read more
So so good!! If you were a fluff ice lover (which unfortunately closed down in multiple locations) and looking for a replacement, this is an amazing option. The shaved ice is so soft and the flavors never disappoint. I've been to the LA location too, but this one is definitely better in terms of ambience and room to sit down. It was fine. Got both the Melon and Matcha with red bean. Had zero interaction with anyone except at the end where the dude told me where to put my tray. No hello or any acknowledgment just a pad to enter your order. Was a bit confused and I added extra melon when I didn't have to. Place smelled like fabuloso everywhere such a turn off. Floors dirty and the lighting was terrible. Was pretty beat up and stark. I wish the menu was clearer both items I got were huge. I would have preferred a much smaller size. All that aside it did taste good. Natural flavors and a nice texture. Two items 40$ maybe the ktown location is better. Big meh read more

Brought my daughter for her birthday. Fortunately one of her friends is lactose intolerant so I didn't bring the group of kids here and we just came as a family. I say this because it is looking very worn down inside and the interior decor is not as cute as the photos. It's no contact ordering, so no one will greet you, there is one person working, making the ice and you order on the kiosk app. Pretty easy to use, I was glad I could mark a special request on to get milk instead of espresso on the side for the Oreo tiramisu shaved ice. We enjoyed it although the cheesecake is not great, as to be expected, kind of just a filler. Kinda wish we could have mochi instead as a swap! ha The three of us shared which was plenty to eat. No cash and they will not assist you with the ordering kiosk (saw a lady who was confused and gave up and no one helped her) read more
This place was recommended to me on Yelp and I knew I had to give it a try. I got the mango melon bingsu and shared it with two others. The mango snow ice was fluffy and melted in my mouth. I wish there was more melon, since the melon in the bottom was extremely hard to scoop out. The mango melts very fast so better eat quick! It was a very fun time and I would definitely go back to try more flavors :3 read more

Stopped here for a treat while in the area. I got the sesame Shaved Ice. I got the small which I didn't know doesn't come with the red beans. The red beans are only in the large one. But overall, it was still good and came with mochi. Service is not helpful or friendly. Upon entry, no greeting or anything, and he just points to the machine for you to order yourself. When asked questions, he gave dry 1 word answers. read more

Today was a perfect day to finally try Oakobing in Pasadena. They serve a Korean style shaved ice called bingsoo. It's a small place with limited indoor seating. As soon as I walked in, I smelled cleaning solution (probably from moping floors) - no place that serves food should have a strong chemical odor while open to public. Anyway, you order from a tablet (card only), and the order gets called out when ready. I ordered Oreo Tiramisu single size bingsoo. It came with oreos, cocoa powder and a side of espresso syrup (mochis were missing). The single size is good to share. I liked it but was not amazed by it. read more
order: green tea shaved ice (7/10) it tasted good but it was definitely not green tea flavored. mochi was a good addition. definitely did not live up to the my expectations but for the price, very worth it. service: service was fast. we ordered on a kiosk and within 5 minutes it was ready. ambiance: lots of seats inside and there is a public restroom inside. parking was a little hard to find. conclusion: although it did not taste green tea flavored, would definitely come back and try the other flavors. the price point is very good considering the portion size. read more

Old town pasadena has 3 free 90 minute parking lots ($2/hour after and there is a set amount past a certain time at night) on Green Street, De Lacey Avenue, and Raymond Avenue. The Raymond parking lot is closest to oakobing.
