The staff here is really great - from front desk to management to maintenance. Everyone is friendly and attentive. When I feel like taking a study break I go to the lobby - to get some jokes and laughs in. I would individually name everyone and how much of an impact they've made - but I'll save that would be a later day. The infamous train .... I think it's based on the individual. Myself and several of my neighbors are not bothered by the train and we all agree - we can barely hear it. And if it does bother, I suggest cushion sofa and plants to help absorb the noise. - yes we live first floor directly at the train view. The facilities are clean, laundry room, pool area , gym. Neighbors are friendly, sometimes we just go for a walk to the village together or do a Friday night hangout. The events Oasis holds here are fun - family and student friendly, it's a great way to meet your peers/neighbors. Movie nights, collage days, study break coffee days etc. My neighbors and I enjoy living here, several of us had no hesitation to stay through graduation. read more

We have had issues since we moved in here. This place is not soundproof at all. Staff is friendly but that doesn't make my time isn't our apartment enjoyable. Please see my review from google maps which I recently updated below. Faulty AC, building is brand new and we were just told they need to replace the breakers (??) AC is leaking everywhere because they forgot to put a pump in, Toilet needs pieces replaced, a cabinet fell off the hinges last week... we were told we weren't the only people experiencing these things today. First things first, the people who say its soundproof are lying or maybe fake. The rooms are far from soundproof and the train comes by early in the morning and late at night. Maybe some of the rooms on the backside of building 2 don't hear the train but that's the only explanation. Pros- The staff is nice, close to the village, lots of parking, a new place, Washer and dryer are free. Cons- NOT noise proof, some stuff breaks easy or is really cheap to start. read more

I lived at Oasis for about a year and a half and left because I graduated. I was not always happy at Oasis, as I had a few issues while living there. It took more than one semester to resolve my most serious problem, which caused me great distress and significantly affected my studies that semester. That said, Oasis has taken a turn for the better under Miguel as the new manager. The previous manager was not approachable by all of us, while Miguel was 100 percent approachable by everybody. Miguel is really nice and always has a smile for everybody. He truly cares about and helps the students as he did with me. Those living at Oasis now will be so much better under his management than we were. Since Miguel was made manager, he made great changes for Oasis; it was nice to see that happening. He is the right person for the job. I wish Miguel had been the manager during all of the time I was there as I could've done without the stress it caused me having to talk with the previous manager due to his temper. The owners of Oasis are very fortunate that they now have the right manager, knowledgeable, kind to all, someone who likes to make changes for the betterment of Oasis, and is truly there for the students. It is to their benefit not to let him go; he is very valuable to Oasis. The staff are all nice, office staff and maintenance staff. Once my problem was resolved and Miguel was the manager, I was very happy living at Oasis. read more

I love living here!!! The people at the office are amazing! Not going to lie when I first saw reviews I was scared but the maintenance guys are under new management and the phenomenal! Manager makes not so subtle threats about calling HQ at 12:01pm if your keys are not returned by noon on move out day. He says he'll have you moved out ASAP and sued!! Can you believe this drill sergeant without a whistle? You are welcome for the $2,200 a month, and then to be harassed on the way out. Also if you complain about noisy neighbors for months and months, they don't care. Do. Not. Give. a. Poo. And the wifi everyone is forced to use is not secured (hello it's the 21st century), so you can get malware or a Trojan horse if you don't buy yourself a VPN. Oasis has been overall a good experience. It was very conveniently close to campus (I don't think you can get any closer) and the apartments are well maintained, new, and clean. The staff is very helpful and they do a good job of organizing community building events. I love that utilities, washer and dryer, wifi, cable tv, parking are included. The only negatives are that the train is so loud, and at times will wake you up...and secondly, although it is a dog friendly place, and the puppies are so cute to see, there are a lot of dog pee stains in the hallway carpets, causing unpleasant odors. read more

If you can find another apartment to stay, do so. I've been having a horrible experience with Oasis since August 2018, when they had us sign a leasing agreement without the apartments even being built. I moved all the way from New Orleans, expecting to have an apartment, but did not. After a year im temporary housing, we finally were able to move in, however there were electrical issues, hot water issues, plumbing issues, and so on and the communication is horrible (ex. Locking the trash chute without sending out and email letting us know so that we wont walk down the long hallway carrying heavy trash, just to have to walk back to the room). The electrical and plumbing issues have since been fixed but I still have to run my kitchen sink for about an hour until the water get hot. The apartments are nice but the service can be improved. read more

When they first opened, they opened prematurely. Since July 2020 they got new management and wow has it changed so much!! I would def look at reviews after July 2020 because that would be the most accurate and a more authentic experience with the new management. Apts are not 100% sound proof. If someone drops something I might here it. Or if someone is playing music VERY loud, I might hear it. They have staff that you can call and complain and they'll take care of it so you won't even have to. Other than that, the apt, now fixed, are practically brand new! Now that those issues were fixed, anytime anything happens, I call maintenance to come in and fix it and they are pretty quick. If there are any issues at all, the staff will do their best to work with you and make sure you are taken care of. They do fresh cookie Fridays where they bake fresh cookies and you can pick them up in the office. There are tons of dog treats and my dog is in love with the leasing manager. Its like the dogs know when he's there and will always want to go to him. They also have amazing events such as a Pet Appreciation event where all the pups and cats come out and get to meet each other. Free toys and treats and it was such an awesome event. They even do things like donation drives for the homeless and another one where they provided letters and stamps where you can send letters back home or to friends at Oasis. They purchase coffee and different snacks that you can get 24/7 in the lobby during finals week along with a resident appreciation week where you get prizes/snacks/treats everyday during the week. At first I was really worried because of the other reviews and this was my first time living on my own. But wow am I glad I made the decision to be here. If you have any doubts, just give them a call. There is 24/7 staff ready to assist you. Even when theres other issues, there are campus saftey that do rounds and you can always call them if you ever need anything. There is an awesome pool and a practically brand new gym. There are patios to use and private study rooms. Honestly I've never seen another apt complex like this. read more

Oasis has a bad reputation stemming from the extremely negative experiences of its very first renters, and any potential resident deserves to know all of the details. I was unfortunate enough to be one of these renters, but never an actual resident. I signed a lease in the summer of 2018, with the promise of moving into a brand-new student housing apartment complex in August of that same year. Oasis was not completed until July 2019. When Oasis first informed its residents that the building project would not be completed on time, we were placed in hotel rooms with the promise of moving in at the end of September. The month came and went, and we still paid rent, yet no move-in date was ever set. Oasis staff dodged calls, and often ignored emails asking questions they had no answer to. We stayed there until Oasis' contract with the hotel expired. We had no information regarding our next move until the very last week we spent in the hotel. We found out through the grapevine that Oasis planned to send us to third-party apartment complexes to live in until the building was finished. I received my housing assignment just days before my move-in date. The apartments that Oasis chose to send its residents to were in Pomona and Chino Hills. It is important to note that all of the future residents of Oasis were graduate students at either KGI or CGU. Oasis' location is walking distance away from both of these campuses, but after moving to these secondary apartments, students were forced to commute 20-45 minutes to reach campus each day. We did not have any Wi-Fi for the first two weeks after we moved in, and we all had to find other locations to do our homework. Oasis handled the leases through the complexes directly, so whenever we had a problem with maintenance, we were turned away from the management office and instructed to take it up with Oasis. This resulted in an endless back and forth blame circle in which we, the residents, were left powerless. One of the residents even received multiple eviction notices because Oasis often forgot to forward their rent payments to the apartment management office. I was given the opportunity to cancel my lease, and I accepted after one month of living in the "temporary" apartment. At this point, Oasis could not provide an estimated date of completion. I moved out, and my life immediately improved. Now that Oasis has finally been built, nearly a year later, I do not regret my decision at all. The buildings that currently stand at Oasis were clearly rushed, and have significant deficiencies. I have heard reports of malfunctioning utilities, no air conditioning, and water leaks in the walls. Even though Oasis has had a whole year to improve its resident relations, they still ignore requests and make excuses. I hope that anyone who considers living at Oasis reads this review and rethinks their decision. The convenient location can never make up for the terrible history and awful reputation that Oasis has earned for itself. read more

If you're going to school at KGI or the Claremont Colleges (or affiliated/working there), I DEFINITELY recommend Oasis! The staff is extremely professional, and the facilities are top notch. It's very well managed, and the manager Cristian was extremely professional when I had questions and wanted to move to a single unit. The gym and pool were especially nice, and a major reason I signed a lease! The rooms are new and mine was newly painted and maintained. The laundry is free and on every floor, which was great. Also, parking is easy and they have a shuttle to Pomona College. I'd usually just walk or bike, however, it's easier with a car. It's extremely close to various amenities and the area was always safe and guarded. The atmosphere was fun, with all kinds of activities going on. Also, I had no sound issues. I would still live there; however, I went to graduate school at USC in Los Angeles so moved downtown. read more

If you want to hear what it was like to deal with management at Oasis Commons, just read the other responses. I was lucky enough break the lease a month into the lying and incompetence. This review will attempt to provide context for CGU students. NOTE: all information is found in the bond agreement, available to the public through the California Public Finance Authority website. Item 1: The dean of students could care less about your plight, you are on your own as far as CGU is concerned, even though Oasis personnel wore CGU branded clothing to events to lure students there. She either ignored emails or told students it was not her problem to solve. Item 2: The financing deal to build this horrowshow was a $54 million bond to NCCD - Claremont Properties LLC in 2017, an agreement between CGU and KGI through a nonprofit outfit designed to write these bonds, National Campus and Community Development Corporation . HP real estate is the developer, and American multifamily is the contractor. The bond has since been downgraded from the usual Ba2 rating to high-risk B1 by Moody's, indicated it is junk. Item 3: the management company is an affiliate of the developer HP Campus management, with the people you talk to on the phone and see on campus being subcontractors called Capstone On-Campus Management. They only get paid as a percentage of monthly net revenue (3% and 2% respectively) if the monthly bond payments are paid in full starting in fall of 2018. ***This is why they lied to us amid delays regarding completion of a building that burned through $54 million dollars with probably plenty of kickbacks and lies - because subcontractors wanted to get paid and because bond payments were due. The incompetence should be shared by all parties, starting with the clueless financial officers at CGU who became part of this bad agreement and our inept administration who fumbled and punted the problem. With all the rich people's kids being stuck in that housing project, I wonder who will sue first? read more

It was a rocky start but oasis feels like home the CAs are amazing so kind abd sweet and they are alway willing to help. They are a lot socials for the building it's clean we have study rooms pool jacuzzi so I'm pretty much living my best life. Every place you live has it's slips up but the they manage to fix it and are very good with accommodating when a problem arise so I would say I love it !! read more

The staff seem nice which is just about the only good thing I've experienced here. Trying to get repairs done in my apartment has been a never-ending nightmare. Flickering lights, door bell not working since I moved in, garbage disposal breaking down quite often, and dishwasher not working. Having to deal with work and everything in this pandemic and come back to my apartment and deal with all this is so frustrating!!! I get a new story from maintenance anytime I send an email or run into them. It took 5 months of follow up to get my apartment painted properly! I've been at the Oasis for about two years and I've had a great experience! The staff are so sweet and helpful and go above and beyond to cater to your needs! They always have events or activities going on to show appreciation to their residents. They are also always looking for new ways to make our living more convenient, for example, they just added a new printing station. I feel super safe here with constant patrols by security! Maintenance guy, Jerry, is super helpful and response time is great when a service request is made. The parcel pending for packages is super great and has ensured no package of mine goes missing. The apartments are so nice and I have truly enjoyed my residency here for the past two years! No complaints at all thanks to Cristian, Miguel, Rick and all the amazing community assistants! read more

That this place is called Oasis is cruelly ironic. Every aspect of my dealings with them since August 2018 (which was when this place was supposed to be completed) have been a saga of hellish proportions to which the entire oeuvre of Stephen King pales in comparison. Where to begin? Residents who signed a lease intending to move in on August of last year were moved into a hotel for about two months (and yes, we were forced to pay rent at this time) and all the while lead in circles by management about when we would be able to move into Oasis and later, when we would move into our temporary housing/ where we would be housed. Until the end of September, we had been constantly told that Oasis would be ready (HA) and it was not until the first week of October that we were notified that we would not be living at Oasis and (to much frustration) not even in Claremont! I was not told until about 3 days prior to my move that I had a place and exactly where this place was. Moving mid-semester with approximately 72hr notice was hellish on the mental health of residents as our ability to dedicate ourselves to school and study was upended with little notice. I was placed in Pomona, nowhere near campus, which became a source of great stress and frustration. The first of which was a lack of internet access for two weeks; Oasis management gave us the run-around, despite that they had told us all amenities were installed. They were slow to act and mitigate the issue, causing undue distress and hardship for students. This pattern of apathy and low-effort solutions to serious issues has since dominated my experiences and interactions with management. Another source of frustration was our now limited access to campus. Most residents, like myself, chose Oasis because of its proximity to campus. The current housing took this advantage from us. And while Oasis did provide a shuttle for commute purposes, the hours were limited and did not run on weekends, effectively alienating us from campus except for whatever Oasis decided were sufficient hours. Surprise, they pretty much phoned this part in and gave us the bare minimum access, far below what I (and most residents) need as graduate students. Despite multiple complaints, no efforts were made to mediate this and management was generally unsympathetic to this incredible inconvenience, basically insinuating that this was not their problem (though they very much created this problem). The shuttle service they hired was also not entirely satisfactory. Although I very much enjoyed my lengthy conversations with the drivers, it was almost impossible to have those conversations because the bus squeaked and squealed if it so much as ran over a pebble and the general stability of the bus was questionable (there were many times that the bus would not start) and it was so wobbly as to constantly make me nauseous. Further compounding our never-ending frustration was our agency regarding the living situation itself. Because Oasis management held the leases for our apartments, all issues regarding the dwelling had to first go through Oasis who then communicated to our complex. The consequences of poor communication between both entities largely fell on residents' shoulders. Frustrating, too, was when Oasis did not make timely rent payments to the complex (even though we as residents made our payments to Oasis) resulting in no fewer than 4 letters threatening eviction proceedings during my 10 months there. I, being naïve and really believing that things would change once the building was finished, renewed my lease. Since moving here in July, every week has brought a new fresh hell. From not having hot water for close to a month (there are still some residents who are waiting for hot water), STILL not having mailboxes, leaking AC units and other various plumbing fixtures, electrical issues, erroneous billing, and oh so much more. Much of the anguish is inflicted by management that is equal parts apathetic and incompetent. Almost no effort is made to reconcile serious issues in a timely manner. There seems to be zero communication between management and maintenance (the latter of which is subcontracted so there is no standard protocol) which leads to confusion on my half when I come back to see unauthorized work done or unreported damage to my property. No one here gives a damn about doing a job the right way. So, if you are reading this and are thinking about living here... just know that you might as well be taking a second job picking up after management and having to constantly check in with them to make sure that they do right and fairly by you. And if that sounds like something you do not want to do... I don't blame you and encourage you to look elsewhere. read more

When I first moved in back in late July, there were so many issues given that it was newly opened. I had problems like the AC was not working, there was no hot water but lukewarm, ant infestation, or our sink was not draining properly. My major issue was the AC not working in the middle of July. It took forever for them to repair, and the AC leaked so bad that it left water damage. The AC is still funky because it works when it wants to work. On top of that, the water was not hot at all until towards early October that they were able to fix the pipes. Additionally, our circuit breaker would trip frequently only in the living room. Even though I paid for these amenities to be included, there was no compensation for all the problems happening. Also, if you don't record problems in your apartment or show proof, it's also hard for them to fix it. However, they're really on top of handling work orders. Be warned, sometimes they close the trash chute without emailing or notifying residents. The front desk staff is really nice and cool, and I like that everything is brand new. It would be nice if they could add some light to the living room since it does get dark, but other than that I love the convenience of walking to school, and they do a lot of events that are fun. Sometimes I stay on campus late so its been really convenient. Although we live right next to the train-tracks, it's not so bad. The gym is also decent, but there is no free weights besides medicine balls. We're also really close to the Claremont Village which is nice. Other than that I would recommend to stay here. read more

While the building was being built, Oasis promised housing for students by August 2018 and had them sign leases. Construction kept getting delayed by a few months...but ultimately it was delayed until August 2019. Management was very misleading about the move-in date and had tentative residents stay in hotels in Pomona or apartments in Chino Hills for the same amount of rent. These accomodations completely defeat the purpose of paying rent for a dormitory, as one of the advantages of Oasis is the proximity to campus. Absolutely appalling. This was an extremeley distressful time for the students who had signed the lease, especially for those without a car. It felt like we were being scammed because they wouldn't even refund the 'rent' or deposits. We had to start a school-wide petition and get the Dean of Students involved to get the deposit back and break the lease. Even though construction has been completed now and the building doesn't look bad I would never even consider live here because the thought of dealing with the management here disgusts me. read more
