I went in for a steam bath and 90min. Hot stone. Experience was grat for my 2nd time returning. I look forward to more visits to this place. The skill level of the staff is about a 8.5/10 for me and that's judging based on a lot of skilled massage therapy that I've had. I would highly recommend for couples or singles. This place is the worst! I planned a spa day birthday for myself and scheduled everything and paid in advance. I was supposed to get steam and an acupressure massage and then a 30 minute facial in the morning. In the afternoon at 1pm three friends of mine were going to join me for manis and pedis. I told the receptionist (who also claims to be the manager) that I had three friends coming at 1pm to join me for manis and pedis so I had to be done with everything else in time. So she recommended starting my package at 10:30am. Because I was paying in advance, she kept mentioning that they prefer cash for tips so remember to bring some when I come in for my spa day. I had acrylic nails and showed the receptionist my nails to make sure they did acrylics there. She said they do fill-Ins for acrylics, but don't put on new sets. I had her even go back and check to make sure they could care for my nails. She came back and said they could. Then, the afternoon before my birthday and spa day, the receptionist calls to say that a massage therapist, facial woman, and a nail tech had all "called out" last minute and she needed to reschedule my appointment for 2.5 hours later. She said I would now start at 12:30pm instead of 10:30am and that she could fit one of my friends in at 2:30 and the other two at 2:45pm for manis and pedis. I told her that I sent out invites already and this is a birthday party and I have other plans in the evening so it's important that I leave the spa by 3 or 3:30 at the latest. The receptionist said that the services I had paid for were non-refundable but that I would definitely be done by 3:30. She said she would give my friends and me $10 off the manis and pedis and would give us paraffin hand treatments to make up for it, and that there was nothing else she could do. Two of my friends couldn't make the later time. So my birthday started off wrong and only got worse when I arrived at the spa. The sandals that I was given to wear were all slimy and slippery. They hadn't been wiped off from the person that used them before. The steam room was a shower with steam capability. There was no where to sit and the room the shower was in was very cold. It was all very cramped and uncomfortable. I was told to leave the door to the steam room cracked open when I was done. So I left the door open and waited over ten minutes and no one came. I had to go and find someone that worked there and tell them that I was done. Then a second receptionist came back and told me to wait there and the. she went back to take care of people coming in to make appointments. So I said waiting in this small air conditioned room freezing, since I had just come out of the steam shower. Finally, someone else that worked there told me to come and wait in a chair by the massage room. I saw a couple out of the massage room and the therapist quickly changed the sheets before telling me to come in for my massage. So, apparently they gave my massage appointment time to someone else. The massage itself was very nice. Afterwards I moved to a different room for my facial and the woman who did my facial started off my telling me that I had only paid for a half hour facial and I really needed a full hour for the facial to really have any effect. She asked me why I didn't get the full hour. I was forced to tell her that I didn't have the money for it at the moment in order to stop her from trying to upsell me in the middle of my treatments. By the time I got to my manicure and pedicure, the only friend that came was halfway done with her pedicure. During our pedicures, we were informed that they did not have the tools to fix acrylics and they weren't sure why the receptionist told me they did. They said that she was only a receptionist and maybe that's why she didn't know what she was talking about. But, if she works in a salon, she should know what she was talking about. Both my friend and I had acrylics and the the women hand filed our nails down, which took another hour. The gel polish I picked out was all dried up when the stylist opened in up, and I had to pick another color. I wanted a French manicure but the nail tech was exasperated because the nails were already taking too long and she made me feel very uncomfortable. I told her we were supposed to get free paraffin hand treatments because of the 2.5 hour time change and I was informed that because we had acrylics, she couldn't do the treatment. Also, because they had to hand file put nails they were charging $20 more!! I was taken to get my nails done at the opposite end of the room from my friend and we couldn't even talk. My nails looked terrible and as I was getting them done they receptionist came back and asked me to pay the extra and cash out because she had to leave. She asked me three time but I couldn't do anything because my credit card was in my locker and I would mess up my nails going to get it before my nails were done! What a horrid experience!! I got a coupon and went for my appointment. its in an office building .. not the most relaxing environment in the first place. I stood outside in the cold for 20 minutes waiting for someone to open the building door and then the girl has the nerve to say "you are late for your appointment" I was sooooo angry I wanted to leave! There is a music school across the hall with kids BANGING on the piano and SCREACHING on their violin. The rooms were subpar. Nothing to rave about. The owner "gagging" had a frustrated expression on her face and seemed annoyed at everything. She shouldn't be in spa business with that attitude. Recently I had a massage at Hands On Massage, upon arriving the staff greeted me and my therapist introduced herself. Everyone was really nice and my massage was great. I did realize they specialize in "focused" treatments, meaning you are there for your service and finding relaxation has to come from within. The staff did a wonderful job in the space they are provided. Very professional and knowledgable. I will definately return because the price is also very affordable. I had a great massage and recommend this place to anyone who isn't to stuck up to relax. read more

I liked my massage but left completely baffled why this place is consistently rated the Best Day Spa in Howard County. I typically go to Lynn's Day Spa nearby, but the high ratings made me decide to try this place. The one hour massage was done professionally by Kathy and she was very attentive and pleasant. However, that is the best thing I can say about this place. The entrance area is cramped with two large sofas, coffee tables and the receptionist workspace. The massage room was very small and the masseuse kept bumping into the massage bed while she moved around the space. Unlike other spas I have visited in Columbia, the room was lacking some basic amenities. There were no tissues or hot towel offered to wipe yourself down after the massage; no water or herbal tea was offered with advice to rehydrate yourself after the massage; and the floors were bare, not carpeted which might have helped cut down the noise level. I agree with other posters, request a room near the back, my room was two doors down from the entrance and I was distracted by muffled talking the entire time. Overall, the visit was okay, but for $75 I expected more ambiance. Back to Lynn's for me! read more

I had a facial with a glycolic peel with Danielle on Monday--by Tuesday morning, my face looked someone punched me--swollen eyes, red skin. Now the skin under my eyes looks like shoe leather-so wrinkled and dry. When I called the salon to ask for some help, Danielle said that I must have been allergic to it, that it was not her fault and to try a cleanser for sensitive skin. I have had this facial before at the same spa, so I doubt that I suddently became allergic to it. My request that the owner call me, that I wasn't assigning blame, I just wanted some products that would take care of the problem went unanswered. Will never go to this spa again. read more

I recently went to oasis day spa for a massage and facial. It was an amazing experience! everyone was very friendly and professional. The massage was fantastic, they worked out every knot in my body. I will definetly keep returning every few weeks. I was weary about the facial at first because my skin is super sensitive, but they use really good organic products. Not only did my skin look refreshed but i felt like the products actually do work, not just look and smell fancy. i ended up buying a few products and have been getting compliments on my skin. read more

I got a package for my mom for mothers day and she loved it. She works sitting up for long hours and really needed it. She loved the facial and aromatherapy massage she said it was the best she'd ever had. The mani and pedi weren't so great, they were done in 15 min. I went to Oasis on Friday, May 8th as the kick off to my Mother's Day weekend. My daughter gave me a gift certificate for a Shiatsu Asian Body Work and Manicure. Upon entering, the receptionist was very professional. She asked me to fill out required paper work and led me to the changing room. After dressing into a drab robe and shower shoes, I was guided to my first treat, The Body Steam. The Menu of Services list the Body Steam as a 30 minute treat; however, I was prompted out of the shower 15-20 minutes after entering the chamber. Still, the steam felt great and I was excited to move onto my next treat, the massage. The massage was absolutely amazing; the ambiance was soft, feminine and relaxing. Following, I was guided into another area of the Spa for my pedicure. I'm greeted by my technician, who instructs me to her station. As she examines my fee, she comment, " It looks like your feet have had a fresh pedicure." I respond, " I had one two weeks ago but wanted to take advantage of a good massage." During the pedicure, I commented that the meditation, soft jazz music had stopped. She acknowledged my observation and continued working. Next, the receptionist entered and proceeded to wash laundry. I was then serenaded by the melodic sounds of a washer and dryer. Nooooo, I came here to get away from the hype, ladies! Of the three of us, the only one who was phased by the unprofessionalism of the moment was me. Politely, I asked the receptionist to please close the laundry room door and to put the music back on. She apologized and obliged my request. The meditation/ soft jazz music was replaced by R&B; I'm African-American.......really, lol! My pedicure experience was not much different from what I receive at the local nail salon; the local nail salon gives a much better massage, which includes steamed towel. The pedicure took about 35-40 minutes. As I sat and waited for my nails to dry, another receptionist came in to inform the technicians that more clients would be ready for pedicures in about five minutes. She left and later reappeared with the clients. She stood there with the clients for about 30 seconds while the technicians engaged in conversation about working the Mother's Day weekend..awkward moment; unprofessional. Finally, still trying to cling onto the moment, I got dressed and went to check out with the receptionist. She provided me with the amount I had to pay in access of my gift certificate. I inquired as to the dramatic increase. She informed me that my gift certificate was for a manicure and I changed it to a pedicure when I spoke with her on the phone. I informed her that I added the Body Steam and changed the manicure to pedicure based on her recommendation. She only gave me the additional cost of the Body Steam, not the pedicure. When I asked her what the difference was between a service you get at a nail salon verses the service at Oasis, she replied,"We provide a Spa service that takes an hour." I replied, "My service most certainly did not take an hour." Oasis has the potential to be a great spa. However, their customer etiquette leaves a lot to be desired. There are certain basic expectations that a customer has when going to a spa. The quality of service should extend from the time one steps into an establishment until the time one leaves. Appearance of employees, which was less than professional, also reflects upon the establishment. Oasis, take pride in what you have been fortunate enough to obtain in the universe. Remain conscious and treat others in a way that let's them know that they are appreciated. If you are charging for a service, provide quality service in total. I didn't mind spending 35 for a Body Steam. I did mind not having the benefit of my full body steam. I did mind spending $40 on a pedicure that was no different than what I receive at the local nail salon at a cheaper cost. In fact, I get better service from my local salon. The initial experience is very important to any spa patron, get rid of the shabby robes. Tranquility, peace and balance should exist throughout the spa. the energy should not change drastically as one transitions between services. Finally, establish a professional dress code, maybe a cute smock with Oasis printed on Black is not a professional dress code, it is a color! read more

I received a gift certificate to go here, for a much needed massage, after the birth of my daughter. They were very accommodating with scheduling. I had to cancel my first appointment, and was able to get a same day. The spa has received "best of" awards, so I had high expectations. (although I also know that the Columbia Best Of awards are based on how many friends you get to write letters) When I arrived, I noticed the entrance was clean and pleasant. However all the lights were off and my first two thoughts were that they were closed, or the electricity was out. But the receptionist greeted me pleasantly, and was working on her computer. I was a half hour early, (byproduct of new parent get away whenever possible syndrome), so she invited me to relax and read a magazine. I was astonished to find, in a day spa, no drinks, no snacks, no music, no candles, no nothing! The lights never came on, and I was beginning to wonder if I was in a "happy ending" spa. You could hear a mouse breathing, but if it ran in front of you, you would not see it. About twenty minutes into my wait, I asked for the restroom, and was directed down a long hallway. Again, no lights, I thought I was entering deeper into the Hotel California. I had to feel my way around the hallway for the lights to the restroom. There were opened and closed doors along this hallway, but I could not tell you what was in any of them. Once the massage therapist, Shantell, finished with the previous client, she came and got me. She was friendly, and communicative. And, once we started, she was quiet, which is exactly how I like my massages. The room was too small though for a massage table. The table had to be at an angle in order to fit. I remember thinking that it must be tough, as a professional, to work in those cramped conditions. The massage itself was fine, and she addressed my problem areas. She had strong hands (would recommend for somebody who has trouble finding that). All in all, it was an ok experience. On my way out, I passed the laundry/utility room, which is oddly near the front of the spa. The previously closed door was wide open, the light now on, and it was disgustingly dirty inside. If I had seen that on the way in, along with everything else, I would have left. Another oddity is that the place is almost next door to Lynn's Day Spa, a much older established spa in the community. (Lynn's also needs a serious face lift) I think Oasis has a lot of potential, but really needs to work on the "spa atmosphere", and the lay out of the interior. It does not cost a lot to add simple things to make people feel warm and welcome. The owner might want to consult a Fung Shui expert, and a decorator. read more

I visited Oasis Day Spa a couple of weeks ago to get a pedicure. I only went here because my sister gave me a spa week gift card. The prices of the pedicures start at $40+. In my past experiences spa pedicures that cost $40+ were totally worth the price, because you usually get more (like hot stones, paraffin wax, massage, etc), plus great spa ambiance. Oasis Day Spa lacks all of that. My pedicure was $55 and it was like the same pedicure you would receive for $25 at a regular nail spot. There is nothing special about the pedicure I received. The ladies at the spa were nice, don't get me wrong, but I expected more for the price I paid. My spa I go to in Owings Mills has great ambiance and they offer infused water or tea while you are getting your services. Oasis Day Spa offered nothing while I was getting my pedicure. The Oasis Day Spa website is also lacking. We are in 2015 and company websites should have more content. There is not much about the details of each service on the Oasis Day Spa website. Conclusion, the owner really needs to improve upon the service and overall ambiance or should lower the prices. read more

The new location is a bit small and there were no convenient bathrooms to use. I was there for about 2.5 hours and had to go so badly by the end of my massage. The facial was amazing and I loved the scent of the products, especially the moisturizer (although I felt it was overpriced). My massage was also amazing with soothing music and a relaxing room setting. I actually fell asleep! She used nice oils and hot stones and really took her time on each portion of my body. The main reason I won't give four or five stars was the pressure to add on services and more expensive upgrades to my service and the threading I had as a result of those upgrades. The lady that gave me my facial suggested adding threading of my facial hair and I went for it, however when I got to my car and looked at my eyebrows in natural light there were a ton of dark stray hairs left behind that I had to pluck. If I'm paying for an add-on, it'd be nice to have a clean job and not have to go behind to finish it. On the other hand, the shape of my eyebrows was great. My experience at this so-called spa was less than stellar. I went on Valentine's Day weekend with a friend to get an hour long massage. Before I arrived I received a phone call stating that the massage therapist was running late so I should arrive 15-20 minutes later than my appointment time. I arrived 15 minutes later and sat in the lobby for FORTY FIVE MINUTES!!! My friend received her services right away, however I had to wait in the lobby for a long time and never received an apology from anyone. Finally after waiting for a long time I spoke to the receptionist at the front desk and she told me that because its Valentine's Day weekend they were overbooked (LIKE I CARE). She also told me that the massage therapist should be with me shortly. I asked for a discount because I had been waiting for over a half an hour and received no apology from anyone. When I asked for a discount the lady looked at me like I was ALF. I had to repeat to her a few times that I wanted a discount. Finally she agreed to give me 10% (wow! what a discount!!). She also agreed to throw in aromatherapy since I had to wait so long. Nevermind that I asked for lavender aromatherapy and she gave me something else- only because they ran out of lavender. Anyway, I finally went into the small room that looked like a closet to get my massage. The massage therapist was too rough and put so much lotion on my body I felt like a grease monkey when I walked out. At checkout I reminded the receptionist about the discount and she looked at me like I was crazy!!! Also, she DOUBLE CHARGED MY CARD because I had to pay $75 up front when I booked the appointment and then she charged me again!! Finally I got the discount and told them that I was NOT tipping anyone for these horrible services. I get a massage every month and sometimes like to try new places. Well, this was a mistake, It was without a doubt the worst massage I have ever had. On their web site, under spa etiquette, it is suggested you arrive 15 minutes early..which I usually do anyway. I sat in the reception area until 8 minutes past my appt time when 2 of the therapist came out chatting ( which is fine if it is not on my time). There were no other clients at that time ..at least not with these 2. I filled out the form noting the areas I wanted to receive extra attention and discussed it with the therapist. So 14 minutes past my appt time my massage began. I requested extra time on my back which is where she started....great. Then she moved to my legs where she "rubbed" the same spot on my calf nonstop for so long it was uncomfortable. I asked her to please stop and do another area. So onto other leg where my big toe got more attention than my entire back...for a long time. I looked to see what was going on and noticed a chair, where she was sitting [which is fine} but maybe that is why so much time was spent on my LOWER legs . I asked her to spend some more time on my back, which she did. It was very frustrating and not at all relaxing It was a 90 minute hot stone massage that was 75 minutes with occasional hot stone...I can honestly say I will never return to this spa and am so thankful I didn't book a half day retreat...Plus..half empty water bottle and old cup in my room..yuk read more

This has to be the worst spa experience I EVER had... went for an spa mani/ped @ $60 and honestly my mani/pedi at a local salon is ten times better and much more affordable. At that price I really expected a lush experience. The massage chair did not work but I could feel the motor vibrating, nos music in the spa (not even spa style music--nothing!) no bath salt mix in the water to soak, a super short creaming up of my legs rather than a massage--plus it took them 10 minutes to actually find a bottle of creme. Then the manicure was awful, she offered to make all my nails square expect one that she didn't think would work.The result?? Some round, some square. She used the rough side of the emory board to file and not my nails are spliting. It was so awful that after a base coat, I told her we were done. My thumbs were filed on a true angle and look ridiculous. I left and showed the receptionist. I would, never ever recommend a mani pedi there. Sadly, I have a lot left on a gift certificate and hope that a future facial will be a better experience. The one esthetician there did offer me an added treatment to help alleviate the sting of this experience. For that I give them/her kudos for trying to fix a problem. read more

WORST SPA EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! From beginning to end this was a horrible spa experience. Me and a male friend went for massages. While waiting in the dark waiting room, we watched as the receptionist was extremely rude to people who came in to sign up for spa treatments (maybe for a wedding group). We were asked to complete a questionnaire that was totally illegible - the font was teeny tiny, the paper was dirty, it was photocopied on a copier with little toner and smudges. Another woman in the reception area said she couldn't read it either. The receptonist was silly, had no office experience obviously and lacked people or customer service skills. As for the massages - We requested FIRM massages but got "light touch." I asked for emphasis on neck, hands and feet but most of the time was spent on my back. She barely touched my hands or feet. My male friend says the guy masseuse basically just rubbed oil on him - no firm massage. Then when leaving the receptionist demanded a tip for the male masseuse, even though the friend who gave us the spa gift certificates had already given a generous tip. All the tip that had been given had been applied to the female who gave me my massage. Don't waste your time or money- find another spa! read more
