Went there for lunch with a friend. I had the grilled cheese that was tasteless and chili that was horrible. My friend had a hamburger that he said was burnt to a crisp and over salted. Neither of us finished our plates because of this. The service was horrible, we waited over 10 min for her to come pick up the credit card, and when she did not, I walked up the the counter, handed it to her, and waited another 5 minutes to her to being it back. Oasis has great food and service but they need to do some deep cleaning like the floors etc. the napkin holders were dirty too. We go for breakfast and leave either with left over food or so full we can barely move. read more

We had lunch at the Oasis Diner with my parents and son. We've wanted to eat there for quite a while and we are all glad we made it over. We loved the overall feel of the diner. The wait staff was friendly and really nice to my son. The kids meal was huge! My moms tenderloin was huge and scrumptious! And our burgers were huge and amazing!! Just found this gem two weeks ago and it is now my favorite place to eat! Great old-fashioned diner food!! They have an in-house bakery and they bake EVERYTHNG FRESH from the hamburger buns and bread on up to cakes, pies and scones! MUST TRY their made to order beignets!! Wonderful food! I love this diner! And it being so close to home, I expect it will be my new haunt. The tenderloin is one of the best I've ever had. The colas are hand made and delicious. I like the look and concept of the Oasis Diner and the fact that it was saved from demo however of the six time I have eaten here I am very disappointed. The food can be excellent when you actually can get it in less than an hour. The service is not good. Servers are friendly but there is never enough of them and it appears that the kitchen can only produce one order at a time. The inside dining room is always freezing as the cook and manager want it cook on the kitchen so guests have to suffer. If your looking for fast service this is not a good choice. read more

Great food if you don't mind the wait & poor service. Twice in a row my wife & I have visited recently & received our food for free due to long wait time. The wait staff is not very good as well. This morning my son and I went to the Oasis for breakfast. Thinking this to be a good place to take my son, we actually got up early to appreciate a warm tasty breakfast. After leaving a busy psychological counseling practice early yesterday, he told me he was anticipating a relaxing time this morning. We found a place to park next to a shiny white Harley and ambled into the Diner. We were placed in the back southwest corner of this auspicious nostalgic 50's burger joint. I mean red plastic backed chairs and 50's design dinner table came right out of the furniture section of a 50's era Sears & Roebuck catalog. That's the good part! As soon as we were seated, we received the menu. I had my mouth all set for the "Indianapolis" breakfast. Two other families came in and were seated one on each side of us. Next thing I knew they all had their drink order delivered and received their breakfasts....we still had our menus in our hands. The lady next to me was beginning to dive into her "Indianapolis" and I almost asked her if I could help her eat it 'cause I knew it would be too much for her to eat. I didn't embarrass myself, so I patiently clung to my menu in hopes our wait staff would soon appear. Much to my chagrin no one even resembling a waitress or waiter showed up. All I could hear was that lady next to me enjoying her "Indianapolis" a little too loudly and talking with her mouth full of juicy tenderloin. Getting rather incensed now over the whole affair that was unfolding in front of me, my son having earned a reputation as a Doctor of Psychology began to psychoanylize me by telling me to take some deep breaths, count backwards from 100 and think warm, happy thoughts Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, I reached 0 after counting backwards from 100. I was also very dizzy from doing all that deep breathing.....but now I was even more irritated because I was still clinging to the greasy menu because not one of the wait staff had replaced it with any sort of drink. By this time I could have enjoyed even a cold cup of coffee. But, no..... Having realized our dilemma, I made a command decision and encouraged my son to lead the way as we walked out of this nostalgic establishment. I've been stood up before, but never by a restaurant. We traveled across the street to Flap Jacks and discovered they were lined up out the door and didn't want to wait. Besides the insulin generated by my pancreas in anticipation of an "Indianapolis" from the Oasis Diner was beginning to send me into an insulin reaction. We had to get something quick before the "shakes" set in. Then I really would embarrass myself. The quickest place I could think of was Cracker Barrel. I knew in my slowly fading mind at least they brought the coffee right away. In about 5 minutes my insulin reaction disappeared as the biscuits and gravy, country fried steak and fried eggs took affect and basically turned me back into normal. I learned two things this morning. 1. Never go to the Oasis Diner. 2. If you do go to the Oasis Diner, don't let the hostess seat you in the corner. read more

This place is cute and everything seemed made in-house rather than out of a freezer like franchise diners. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I had a patty melt, fries, and a chocolate Coke for $13 including the tip. I would rate it higher but it was a little pricey and my patty melt was very dry. Old school dinner. I ate at the counter. I ordered an omelette with cheddar, roasted peppers, ham, and mushrooms. Red peppers were only on a third of the omelette. The ham an mushrooms were only on half of the omelette. The link sausages were so overcooked that they looked deep fried. They were dry. read more

Great place! Diner food with a twist, all of it seemed to be homemade and very good. I've had breakfast here and the biscuits and gravy were outstanding. Also had dinner once, I had the burger which was decent, not great. The fries were delicious, they said they hand cut and batter them on site! My wife had the tenderloin and she said it was excellent! Very friendly service. We live pretty close so I'm sure we'll be back a lot, great addition to Plainfield. read more

This place was a childhood favorite for me when it was on the other side of town. Having said that it has new owners my family went there for lunch one day it was a Hugh disappointment the sausage was under cooked the bacon was hard as a rock and all the food we ordered was subpar at best it wasn't busy so that wasn't the problem. The service was great the one thing that was a shinning star on this visit. We may try again but it maybe hard to do seeing flapjacks is across the street and metro is a mile away and both places have was better food read more

We were really hoping this would be a fun and nostalgic place to grab a burger or famous tenderloin. Service was ok to start. Diet drink was really odd. Tasted weird. Then we waited and waited for our food, when it came it was cold and greasy. Called our waiter to tell him the problem... his reply "really". Needless to say we walked out. I am really disappointed. Utterly Terrible. The food tasted like it was fried in oil that has never been changed ( which I'm sure is the case), the service was painfully slow even though staff was nice. The whole place was poorly ventilated and reeked of burned oil ( probably since it's never been changed). Save your time and money and eat elsewhere. Not the best time or food. Stopped by on Friday night with 4 boys for a retro experience. Terrible service, crammed at a 4 top, guff hostess pointed at me and said "you sit over here.." when I tried to spread out along the back wall. They were not busy, no reason we had to sit on top of our fellow diners. We were stuck in the corner and unable to see any of the historic diner part which is separate from where most patrons we seated....Frozen burgers, average fries, and annoyed waitress when we asked for mustard. I was too scared to even attempt to ask for mayo. Couldn't understand why it was assumed we would all want burgers with no ketchup, mustard, mayo in the first place. Sodas were good. They make their own. It would have been nice to be told that they had an extensive flavor list since we did mention we had never been. We wanted shakes and dessert, but too bad our bill was dropped off before we could even finish our food. We left and stopped for ice cream on the way home. Maybe a summer breakfast here would be good outside on the patio, too bad we will never be back. read more

Unfortunately there wasn't a redeeming quality about our experience here except for the appearance of the building itself. The floors were dirty with old food caked on them. The server actually told us he wished he wasn't there and should have been off that day! (It was like Clerks, seriously!) and they served us rotten pasta salad. After driving an hour to the to the diner, we were greeted quickly and the server took and order and brought drinks very quickly. Someone else brought the food and no one checked on us until I was done eating and my wife was almost done. I went for ten minutes with nothing to drink. The tenderloin was good, but the corned beef on the reuben was half fat. The baked beans were just out of a can and the slaw was flavorless. Never heard a good thing about the diner's customer service but saw the tenderloin won an award so we gave it a shot. The people before us left as we were walking in saying they must not want business. We did manage to be seated by a very unprofessional young lady. Sat there without greeting for over 5 minutes. Saw 5 people who worked there. None cared about a positive experience because they never greeted or looked our way. It was not busy at all. We left saying they must not want our business. We decided to check this place out on the first day it was open. We live in town and have enjoyed watching the Oasis move from down the street to its new location. We were a little afraid it might be packed because everyone has been excited to see it open. When we arrived it was full, but we only had to wait about five minutes to get seated. The menu has a huge variety of drinks to try. We enjoyed the butterscotch root beer. They have a much bigger variety of meals than we expected, as well. Our party ordered french toast (filled with cinnamon cream), the eggplant Parmesan (a large portion and a nice option for those who prefer vegetarian meals), and the tenderloin (very thick and great with the house aioli). The service was good, the atmosphere was fun and we all thought our meals were a good value. We will be back again soon and we'll be bringing friends! read more
