My first time here and I absolutely love it! The food is so inexpensive and it tastes great! The servers are very friendly and they work quick and efficiently. The downside in my opinion is that they close at 2:30PM but then again they are a breakfast and brunch place. Another downside is they're a cash only place, I never have cash on me. But they person that was checking me out said we could go to an ATM and come back with cash. Which is just crazy. We came back and paid and it was all good. read more

I've ordered to-go from this place at least 3 times by now and have become more disappointed with each order. I've had the hamburger steak and the vegetarian omelette and both were not even seasoned. I was the most disappointed in the hash browns. Not only were they also unseasoned, but they were so old that they were hard and hurt my teeth to bite it. My husband liked the country fried steak the first couple times, but he said his most recent taste of it was disappointing. It shows inconsistency in the cooking. I have come to love breakfast. It's not easy to mess up breakfast but this place has it just right. Good breakfast, good price. It's a small locally owned place with friendly staff, good coffee, and a nice and cheap meal. I ordered the vegetarian omelet (onions, peppers, mushrooms, tomato) with some hash browns and wheat toast. The only thing I would do differently is skip the butter on the toast, just too much for me. The staff seemed very accommodating. I went with some friends who were regulars, upon walking in they let us know of a table around back that had opened up and helped us squeeze five into a table for four. They were also helpful in that if we called ahead they'd try to reserve a table for us. The place is small so I would expect a bit of a wait for a table to open up. See you next Sunday! read more

Haven't been back in years, was in the hood and craving breakfast. As soon as I walked in remembered why I was boycotting them. Cash only. In this day and age, that should be illegal. Service hasn't improved either. Very slow to get menu, take order and it is faster if you just refill your drinks yourself. Regulars seem to get preferential treatment. Food was nicely done, turkey bacon crisp, eggs cooked perfectly and English muffin crisp around edges. On our quest for the best pancakes that Dallas has to offer, my daughter and I arrived at The Oasis Café this beautiful Sunday morning. The restaurant is small and bustling(others would say cozy); this is usually a good sign. We were not greeted by the extremely busy staff so as soon as a table was open we went for it. I waitress was quick and efficient at bringing us our waters and orange juices. She also scribbled our orders post haste. I ordered the Migas and Tullia ordered the pancakes. Our breakfast arrived promptly and we partook of the pancakes immediately. The pancake syrup was warm, the butter was Country Crock. Tullia said that the pancakes were soggy on the bottom which was NOT due to her plate being flooded with warm pancake syrup. My Migas were muy bueno and the hot sauce was rich, tomato-y, and spicy but no character. The corn chips were very soggy (not crispy) which usually indicates they've been sitting for a while or were cooked into the eggs. I am more partial to Migas with that bit of crispness. On the whole we were happy with our choice of breakfast this morning but we probably will not return for the pancakes. Oasis is a bit cramped and seating can be a booth, table, or random chair / table but it adds to the atmosphere. I normally get the hamburger steak / eggs. They also have good coffee. My son and I regularly visit this diner midweek for breakfast. The service has been friendly and competent. The food is always tasty and very reasonably priced. The coffee is refilled regularly. The seating can be a little cramped, but they have no problem when we change tables. We even get to interact with some of the other patrons on occasion. I just left the Oasis.....nice little mom & pop affordable no frill place to sit down and enjoy a mean that won't break your wallet or send you out with a bad case of buyers remorse. I did notice the hashbrown helpings for breakfast are quite small compared to orders I have had from other establishments. But that being said, I had Chicken Fried Steak with Gravy, two eggs done perfectly, hashbrowns and wheat toast for $6.99 and everything was steaming hot....Coffee, $1.59.
