Came here late at night craving gopchang and didn't want to go into the city, so this Fort Lee location was a convenient choice. We ordered the beef intestine combo with large intestine, small intestine, tripe, and rice cakes. The assortment was generous and easily enough for two people. The intestines were properly cleaned and grilled, with no off smells, and the tripe had a nice chew. Rice cakes were a good addition and grilled well. We also ordered the seafood pancake, which was surprisingly good--crispy on the outside and soft inside, not overly greasy. Overall, portions are large and satisfying, especially if you're specifically craving Korean-style beef intestines late at night. Prices are on the higher side, but that's expected for this type of restaurant. Solid option in Fort Lee.
This is truly a hidden gem. My experience with Korean BBQ started in Koreatown in midtown manhattan. For the past decade it's been a similar experience wherever I go UNTIL my visit to Obaltan. This was different in 2 aspects; 1) they offered shellfish, and 2) the cooking surface was a deep pan instead of the raised dome grill which I was used to. In fact at the end of the meal, they made a fried rice with the seasoned pan that was delicious! However, ALL of the food was delicious, and the service was friendly & attentive even though we were close to closing time. This is a MUST if you're in the area!!! Def a place better for a group of 6, esp if you want to try live clam grills. The portion is just quite large. Overall very good besides a group of 4 we each had to eat 5 clams Spicy Stir Fried Pork & Vegetables - good but didn't know there's a lot of rice cake in the dish as well should have be indicated. Spicy Bai-Top Whelk With Vegetables & Chewy Noodles - it's a cold dish, very spicy good flavor. Make sure you sign up waitlist beforehand as the store is small.
Good spot for Kbbq in the Fort Lee area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not busy on a Saturday night, July 4th weekend, fresh ingredients, good service, (Owen is the bestest! - great attitude, attentive).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had the prime beef and seafood special. Definitely more than enough food for 3 people.
This is a kbbq restaurant that's extremely seafood oriented as well! We didn't wait too long for our reservation, which was during busy hour (7:00pm on a Saturday). We ordered the clam combo, which came with the seafood Casino on the side. Also, we got an army stew and corn cheese, both of which were very good compliments to the main course. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a good spot for couples, but it also is accommodating to larger parties as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We did a hike and were able to properly refuel after. Definitely recommend and I can't wait to try the meat combo next time.
Came here with some friends on a Thursday night and got a table for six no problem. It's my first time having seafood barbecue, and I am hooked the clams with butter garlic are super clean and delicious, everything was so good! The veggies are delicious too. I mean, focus was hanging out with friends but i definitely wanna go again to write a more detailed review
I had this place book marked and came after pickleball. Sadly I'm disappointed. Everything here is so sweet and I'm not sure why. My japchae was overly sweet the salad was super sweet and the bulgolgi soup was sweet. I think the only dish that was decent was the seafood soup and the kimchi fried rice. Service was mid. Water wasn't refilled and we had to ask for rice for our tofu soup.
Cuisine: 7 Service: 7 Decor: 7 Value: 6 Overall: 7 I'm craving some of these grilled clams right now. I know most people don't think of Korean food when it comes to seafood. However, this late night restaurant specializing in grilled seafood was the perfect place for me after a concert at Metlife Stadium a few weeks ago. The package we got had three tasty scallops with cheese for the grill and a delicious egg soufflé. It also came with three banchan, which is pretty minimal. However, the worst for me was the shrimps and mussels, which I really don't want. All I need are those juicy and briny clams to be satisfied. This is not a place I would come often, but a place I will come back to whenever I'm in the mood.

Wow if I could give this place a 6 star I would!!! Service: the service was incredible! We had a guy server who was super friendly cheerful and gave us everything we needed. For side dishes, we had steamed egg, spicy mussels soup, and kimchi with white radish. Those alone were already great! Our server helped take us few group pictures too! Food: our friends ordered seafood and pork combo platter and they look like they were having the time of their life! Gary reported that this is his favorite meal of 2017!! His fav was the raw beef I thought was interesting texture. I think the vibe and atmosphere of the place was so cozy and chill. The kimchi side dish I got rekt because I ate a jalopeno!! We came at 12am midnight after our ARC auditions! My table ordered kimchi omelette baked with cheese. That was pretty delicious and anything egg IMO is amazing! It had some ketchup on it and I'm lactose so I took of most of the cheese. It's already pre-cut so great to share! Our favorite was the stir fry with sausage. They enjoyed the sauce and the fried veggies (onion) lastly we had tteokbuki (stir fried Korean sticky rice cake) with fish tofu (my favorite) that was so chewy, glutinous and not too spicy. The red sauce was yummy with my rice too! We also ordered 5 bowls of rice ! We also received tofu and kimchi stew. (So many good side dishes) Cost: total was 13.10$ we split 3 dishes between 4 people. I think that's a pretty reasonable price considered I left SUPER full . Location: it was in Fort Lee and I think this place did our first Korean food as a team much Justice !! So I've only been here once but I had a pretty good experience. I've been dying to try Korean grilled clams since I kept seeing in in Korean Dramas and Obaltan did not disappoint. The taste of the seafood was great and you also get the experience of seeing your food get cooked on the grill. I love their 3 different dipping sauces that they had as well. I only got to try the seafood combo and the fried rice but both were pretty good. I'm excited to go back and try more things! read more
A bit too much hype here for me. So many things went wrong. Being one of the new pocha style BBQ spots in the area, it was jammed packed when I visited. It was truly aggravating to see how the management here allowed two people to hold up a table for 4~6 people while there were plenty of other full parties that were waiting to be seated and were ready to order. Seriously, they just squatted for over an hour without ordering. On top of that, the fire alarm was set off because the ventilation either wasn't on or wasn't strong enough. It actually shut down Bada Story next door as well, as it's tied to the same alarm system. Everybody was forced outside for another 30 minutes waiting for the fire department to come reset the system. It was freaking cold and windy out that night too. Once we did finally get seated, we ordered the seafood combo and the beef combo. For the price, the seafood combo was not impressive at all. Sure, they have some decent clams in there, but it was really expensive for the portion. For the beef, the flame wasn't nearly hot enough to sear and seal the flavor and juices. The meat ended being tough and dry. At the end of the meal, no acknowledgement or attempt from management to improve the overall experience whatsoever. Ordered prime beef combo and it is very fresh. Asked for a medium cooked and tasted very good. We went there at around 4-5pm on Saturday and there was no wait at all. Overall very good environment, great food, and excellent service. read more
Went for Dinner Food - 4/5. The banchan had good taste to them but were a bit too generic; they all had spice as their main flavor besides the steamed egg. Meats had great marbling to them making for juicy bites with no excess of fat, keeping the enclosed pan clean. The selection of vegetables to be grilled was interesting although the solo asparagus looked silly sitting in the corner by itself. Service - 4/5. The meats were grilled to a nice sear and I liked the little "resting" spot for the ones that were done cooking. Pacing of the BBQ was relaxing and they were quick with other services. Value - 4/5. The price is on the higher side with a $70 tag on a beef combo for two. Meat portions are about right but I felt there was a severe lack of banchan for the price range. I'll try to break down this experience as simply as possible. There was an hour wait already when we stopped in on Sat night at 6:15. We hoofed it to a bar about .5 miles away and almost lost our table because I told the host it would take us 10 mins to arrive. The pros: 1. Original soju is very crisp and refreshing and pairs great with fatty/spicy foods. 2. Clams from the seafood combo were very tasty, who's ever heard of cheese on a clam? 3. Cheese corn (ended up being my favorite dish of the night) 4. Oysters were good. 5. The ribeye, while ridiculously expensive at $35, was delicious Cons: 1. Waiter hovers over you the whole time cooking. Wish we could have cooked. 2. Food comes off grill fast so I felt very rushed the whole time 3. They don't give you rice 4. The ramen side that comes with seafood combo is flavorless. I've had better from a packet. 5. The egg side dish was completely flavorless also. I really hated this. Was better with sauce. 6. Banchan selection is really weak (only 2 similar options) 7. Can't get full off a $55 combo. The waiter said this was finger food. I don't understand. 8. The shrimp was super overcooked and had poo in it I had to scrape out with my fingers. I feel this is one of my more generous 3 star reviews. I actually wasn't terribly impressed. Maybe I just don't get the concept of this place. Is it meant to be a bar that you get drunk and spend OUTRAGEOUS amount of money on "finger food"? They claim to have a full bar but they only had soju and beer on the menu. Full bar means cocktails and liquor. I probably won't be back since I like to be full after spending $120+ on dinner. Came here for a late dinner on Monday with friends and overall everything was pretty good. Tried the clam special and a side order of the short rib. As a seafood lover I especially recommend the clam special and the clam broth ramen was amazing. Budae jigae was nicely flavored , although I wish I had a bigger stomach to try the kimchi fried rice after. Tried two new flavors of the soju (strawberry and plum) but still love the grape one the most. The jinro toktok peach flavor drink legit tastes like peach soda haha.. would love to go back to try the pork Jowl or maybe go during happy hour so everything is so much cheaper read more

I was here for a friend's birthday last night... and man was I wowed. Obaltan is the Mecca of a Korean BBQ right here in Fort Lee! I no longer have to travel to Flushing and pay ridonkulous toll or compromise on what my kbbq choices can consist of. They have a variety of meats,seafood, soups, stews & tons of appetizers. The service is great & location is awesome. Free parking after 6pm! Yes, they speak English & Korean. I forgot to take pictures of some things because I was too excited to eat. We tried the beef combo(menu will be posted) with the doenjangjjigae (soybean stew), yookhwe(beeftartare), honghaptang (mussel soup), and ended with their radish fried rice(similar to kimchi bokkeum bab for those who are familiar) except it's made on the cast iron grill with all the previous delish meat juices. Really good food spot! Amazing service and all covid precautions followed. Using USDA prime beef also brings out better flavor than other places. The person attending to our table was able to help us choose items from the menu for the amount of people we had and had great recommendations. The only downside was the price, it's a little up there but for the quality and how late this place is open it's worth it. I wished the place was a little cleaner, the gas burner on the stove was a little dirty but other than that everything was above my expectations. read more

My wife and I went on a Saturday night at 9pm. There was a lot of people there but we didn't have to wait for a table. We went with the grilled clam combo and the premium marinated beef combo, plus a side of cheesy corn. Everything was ridiculously good and the waiters were quick & efficient. This is currently our favorite kbbq in the area. read more

I tried two combos:seafood and beef --so far the bests ive tried in ny/nj area:) all staffs were so friendly and i will definitely come back with family or friends. I think its better with more ppl. Plus combo plates are large and reasonably priced. Seafood was super fresh and they come with 3 side dishes-corn cheese, spicy squid, ramen noodle. Trust me its 3 times better with iced soju. Beef combo is served with special iron skillet which i heard is specially ordered from korea. They also do fried rice after beef bbq but didnt have enough room :( I recommend this place for friends/family bbq and if you want the "real" korean bbq read more

First time here and was not disappointed at all!! I was not too hungry when I arrived, but as soon as I walked passed the tables and saw the food, I began to salivate! My gf and I ordered the seafood combo (so friggin delicious)!! The ambiance was my style.... with so hip hop music (not too loud but just perfect to enjoy a meal with a date), got some flat screens to watch the Yankees post season, some soju (def recommend the green grape soju), and the overall atmosphere was just cozy! The staff there were soooo friendly and quick!! I definitely want to come back soon to try the beef and pork combos!! Side dishes were also very good... the corn with cheese, the ramen noodles, the seafood dukbokee.... I'm salivating again. I wonder if they are open right now for breakfast lol. 5 stars does not do this place any justice.... this is def in my top 3 choices to eat in the area. read more

This place provides authentic Korean barbecue with some drinks. I ordered a sea food soup and fresh oyster. - Oyster 8 piece costs $20. A bit pricy, but overall OK. - Seafood soup, Jjampong, is great if ordered with udon noodles. However, the quality of mussels need to be improved. Overall, nice authentic place worth a visit for group dinner. read more

Came here after going to a spa in Edgewater. We were in the mood for Korean and this place is open late. The two of us got the Pork Combo...a ton of food. Best in Jersey! () First of all, I dont go out often But when I do, I only go to the finest in town. Obaltan by far the finest in State!!! Workers are very friendly, especially the ownerrrr(Also amazingly pretty :)) Food! Just try, youll understand They have parking lots (meters) but its free i believe after 6-7? And there are plenty!! Casual place for delicious Korean bbq and drinks. Everything was fresh and tasty. The servers were super friendly and very attentive. We were celebrating a birthday so they put a candle on our kimchi fried rice. On weekends, expect a bit of a wait, but it's worth it! read more
My initial impression of this place was already above par as I walked through the door. From there on my impression of this place have just been rising as We sat there enjoying the conversation with the host and the glittering meat on the grill. I got the beef combo, which was great, and the pork belly. The beef combo comes with a complimentary kimchi fried rich and a bowl of steamed egg. I believe this place open not too long ago and one of my friend came over from out of town and was looking for late night Korean BBQ with soju (Korean Sake) so we decide to try it out. I would definitely come back with my family for Korean BBQ for sure. First of all, I was amazed that they actually use traditional Korean cast iron pan for Korean BBQ. I only had this in Korea about 2 years ago and I could not find any place that actually has this in US. The beef combo was great value and the meat was actually amazing. As we were drinking, we decide to order ribeye and beef intestine. I could not believe they were selling this since not many Korean BBQ places carry this unless you are in LA or Korea. If you want to try authentic Korean BBQ in Fort Lee area, highly recommend it. read more

Friday night- crowded, loud music, kind of have to yell at people to talk but very friendly staff. Food was cooked by waiter and the seafood combo 8/10. Portion a bit small for the price. Would come here again to try buddae jiggae or other non grill dishes. read more

Awesome food, awesome service. You can't get seafood bbq at usual k bbq place. They also have very extensive authentic menu like chicken feet and gizzard. We had seafood combo, pork belly(one of the best) and kimchi fried rice. Highly recommend!!! read more
