I was so happy and excited at first when I got pregnant in November 2019 thinking Dr. Hung's herbs and advice really helped. However, I had a miscarriage in December 2019, after enjoying the good news of being a mom for just a little more than a week or so. I was devastated, thinking I must have done something wrong. Did I not sleep enough? Was I too anxious? Is it because my body wasn't ready? Or maybe it was the two sips of coffee that I accidentally drank. Dr. Hung tried to help save my baby with his herbs but it didn't work, which this was no one to blame for sure. I thought, maybe this just wasn't meant to be. Dr Hung had given me treatment with herbs to help my body recover from the lost, which restored my energy and body quickly. Shortly after there comes the pandemic. While I am still taking the herbs to prepare for my next pregnancy, we continued meeting through telehealth. During those 2 months of treatment online, my body had gotten worse. My heart beat has become much faster and I will easily faint. Dr Hung said it was probably due to stress and my body not having enough blood, so he adjusted the herbs. I also decided to visit him in person again as I thought maybe his treatment decisions would be more accurate if he can feel my pulse. A few months after, we've been trying to conceive but still have not succeed. I even took my husband with me to see Dr. Hung to get prepared. In October, Dr Hung told us we can stop taking the herbs and try to conceive (Officially). That's when I realized my heart rate has drastically increased even while resting. I would faint very easily and I have lost a lot of weight. I texted Dr Hung about my situation and he told me to go back to him if I don't get pregnant. With a rising concern of my health, I decided to consult my family doctor regarding my situation. After the blood test, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, which I have no idea I had it prior to this check up. I was disappointed because Dr. Hung wasn't able to detect such issues until I did my blood test. But I still had a little faith in him as he rest assured that Chinese medicine can help with my condition. Constantly reminding me of his credentials and 30 years of experience, he said he can use Chinese herbs to help me and it would be better than taking western meds due to the known and unknown side effects that may even affect my next pregnancy. I asked him if taking the Chinese herbs would affect my thyroid going from hyper to hypo like what the western medicine do, and Dr. Hung said it will not because Chinese herbs will balance the values, unlike western medicine. One month into taking the Chinese herbs, my condition has improved but it also went into the other end of extreme. I became super tired all the time, and also gaining weight. My face would look super puff. I consulted Dr Hung and he said not to worry because the weather is changing and it is getting colder. It is normal to feel sleepy, tired, and feel swollen a little bit. A week later that appointment I took another blood test, before my appointment to the specialist. It was found that not only that I no longer have hyperthyroidism, but I went to the next extreme of being hypothyroidism. The TSH value was extremely high. I was so upset and disappointed with the result. After speaking to Dr. Hung, his explanation was "this proves my meds are super effective!". He explained how different people may have a different reaction to the medications, but in general his meds are effective. He reminded me again his credentials and experience with both Chinese and western medicine. But he refused to acknowledge his misjudgment on my situation, and his incompetence in listening to my concerns with my body even I've told him how I felt. He also went back and refuted what he said about the herbs wouldn't cause such situation by reasoning with how each body reacts differently. He also refused to let me know what are the ingredients in his medication which my specialist would love to know what's in my body and to make the right judgment for my treatment, saying this raises copyright issue. While I truly believe Chinese medicines has its own benefits and I am still a true believer in it, I would like to summarize by saying there are things Chinese medicine can't substitute. A good solid blood test is one for sure, which I think Dr hung would agree himself too. But on top of that, while Chinese herbs can definitely help in many ways, it can also masks the symptoms of what truly lies beneath your body. Do be aware that you won't get to know what you're actually eating and putting inside your body unless Dr Hung would graciously let you know the ingredients. I hope people who are reading this will be aware of the risks and make the right decisions for themselves, especially for people who have similar situation as me.

Among the injuries I sustained, the most significant were skull base fractures and fractures of my orbit, which led the emergency doctors to diagnose me with traumatic optic neuropathy. After consultations with maxillofacial specialists and ophthalmologists, I was told I was legally blind, 20/230, and that this was now my life. Devastated, I reached out to Dr. Lin who was highly referred by a longtime family friend. She felt he and his team should see me and offer other opinions. While Western medicine may refer to Dr. Lin as a "physical therapist," I don't think that language fully defines what he does. At our first meeting, he was gentle, attentive, and deeply aware of my condition. His method is difficult for me to fully articulate, but it was unlike anything the physicians I had seen before had provided. Dr. Lin created a treatment plan in collaboration with his in-house acupuncturist, Dr. Park, and the two of them treated me in concert. I visited them about once a month. Dr. Park performed acupuncture targeting specific hemispheres they agreed would be beneficial, while Dr. Lin used manual techniques, pressing, pulling, and adjusting different parts of my face and body. This is what impressed me most: their understanding of the interconnectedness of the human body, and the way each system affects the next. Even though I came in focused on a single issue, they recognized that other problems could be developing or stagnating and that treating one area would likely set off a domino effect. They addressed everything collectively rather than isolating one symptom. Dr. Park also gave me homework: changes to my diet, foods to avoid, preferred cooking methods, and even the temperature of liquids I should consume. Detailed instructions that had never been offered nor had I considered. Western medicine had only offered me chemical treatments or surgeries to remove or implant. Dr. Lin was one of the few who was relieved I had not had a surgery and was not taking medication. In my most desperate moment, when the reality of vision loss was fresh and overwhelming, they helped keep hope alive. I am happy to say that I have since improved to 20/40 vision. Slowly, every day I feel a little better. I am not claiming that Dr. Park and Dr. Lin performed miracles. What I do believe is that the treatment they provided stimulated something meaningful in my recovery. Maybe I would have healed to this extent without them, maybe not. But I wholeheartedly feel that their treatment encouraged my body to heal itself. I am four months removed from the incident, I have my vision back and I feel great. But I have been seeing him once a week for about five months now and I couldn't be more satisfied. Dr. Yeh, originally from Taiwan, maintains his office all by himself. He has no assistant or receptionist. Sometimes this means he is a bit pressed for time, but he is incredibly focused and efficient. He is also careful to give first time patients sufficient time to discuss their problem. He also leaves the needles in for about 40 minutes, which is much longer (and therefore more effective) than other doctors in the area. As soon as I met him, I knew he was someone I could trust. He is friendly and professional. You can tell his career is a labor of love. He is in medicine to help people. I went to see him because I was having strange symptoms that western doctors couldn't diagnose. I suspected female hormone issues related to my age, but nothing appeared in blood tests. For about three months, every ten days or so, I was getting a low fever, anxiety and horrible low back pain that lasted about a half day and all night. It was completely debilitating. After seeing Doctor Yeh, who did indeed diagnose it as hormone related, these symptoms almost completely went away. The really awful symptoms stopped completely. He has helped me with other issues as well. I had a stiff and sore neck for months that I couldn't fix on my own no matter how much stretching I did. I didn't mention the problem to him, but he mentioned it after checking my pulse. He cracked my neck on 3 or 4 visits and this pain completely went away and hasn't returned. Later, he also added a short treatment for my stress levels. Once he inserts the needles, I can almost immediately feel myself relax. By the end of the treatment, I even feel more optimistic about life! Since he Dr. Yeh is in my insurance network, I only have to pay $25 copay per visit. Sometimes acupuncture takes longer than western medicine. Patience is required. But if you trust Dr. Yeh and follow his advice, I think you will be happy with the results.
