I had an issue with a chirping old smoke detector mounted on a ceiling that is 18 ft high in my front entry hallway (2 stories up!), with virtually no way to access it myself from the lofted 2nd floor. With our daughter's wedding less than two weeks away and more family-friends coming in than we expected, we needed to convert our gym/office back into a bedroom; quickly! For an easy conversion back to a gym/office after our guests left, we bought a Murphy bed with a side cabinet and drawers. The bed arrived in four heavy, gigantic, and awkward boxes with a thousand parts and assembly instructions written by someone overseas in their best pigeon-English. We're pretty handy, but we knew our daughter would've been married, returned from her honeymoon, and given birth to our grandchild by the time we figured out how to assemble and install the bed ourselves, so, we turned to Yelp to "get a guy" (or a gal). We also needed a TV mounted, and a heavy mirror mounted on the wall. On Thursday, the first person I contacted (initials "B.R.") responded with one text and then completely ghosted me despite my agreeing to their cost estimate and attempts to schedule the work. On Monday, I tried the shotgun method and contacted the next three people on my list. Robert Ersoy, owner of OC Fixit, immediately responded to me, he quoted me a price $100 lower than the first guy, he agreed to start the job that day, and he showed up at the exact time that he said he would. Impressive! If that wasn't enough, Robert arrived looking very professional in an OC Fixit uniform and he was very organized with all of his power tools in a neat and clean roller box and bag. We showed Robert to the Murphy bed bedroom (battlefield in our opinion) and he got right to work. He was so polite in declining all our offers of food and drink, but he did graciously accept a glass of water. Four hours in, we encouraged Robert to take a lunch break, but he politely declined. Six hours in, as he finished up the Murphy bed from hell, we told him he could come back tomorrow to mount the TV and mirror. Robert assured us he was fine and said he would finish the jobs because he had appointments booked for the rest of the week. An hour later, Robert had finished all three jobs, broken down all the boxes, took the trash out, and vacuumed all of his work areas! We could not be happier that the first guy ghosted us because we never would've found Robert at OC Fixit! When we need a guy, Robert will always be our first call. read more
