My 29-year-old son and his 27-year-old girlfriend recently stopped at Tsang's while waiting for a takeout order. They sat at the bar and attempted to order drinks. The bartender asked for identification. My son's girlfriend presented an international driver's license, but the bartender would not accept it. She also offered a photo of her passport, which was refused as well. Both the bartender and manager agreed that these forms of identification were not acceptable, despite the fact that these same forms of identification had reportedly been accepted on previous visits. What happened next was even more disturbing. While they were sitting at the bar, another customer directed a comment toward my son's girlfriend, telling her to "make sure you always carry your paperwork." The comment was delivered in a disparaging and bigoted manner and was completely unacceptable. We understand that restaurants have policies regarding identification, and we would have respected a simple, courteous explanation of those policies. What we cannot accept is the way my son and his girlfriend were treated, particularly when an interaction that could have been handled respectfully instead left them feeling singled out, humiliated, and possibly racially profiled. For a family that has been loyal to Tsang's for years, this experience was deeply upsetting. We have supported this restaurant for a long time, and it is heartbreaking to say that our family will not be returning to Tsang's Village Cafe. Businesses have a responsibility to treat every customer with dignity and respect. Regardless of a person's background or where they are from, no one should leave a restaurant feeling that they were made to feel unwelcome or less than others.

They were Brown and hard. I picked out about 8 from the large container that were light beige to eat. I have never had better WonTons than China Plaza but they "burn" them roughly 1 out of 4 orders. A couple of weeks ago it was the Chicken Fingers that were dark brown. We don't get a ton of food either. Our order is usually only Rice, Chicken Fingers, Teriyaki and WonTons. Pad Thai with the Chicken and Shrimp option had two (2) medium shrimp, so I guess that counts as multiple shrimp . . . the chicken was dry but at least it was plain, no curry. However, unlike the well coated curried skewers, there was virtually no Pad Thai sauce. The sauce that makes the bland rice noodles come to life was MIA. After much discussion and pulling the stuck together noodles apart, we did think that a very scant spoonful of sauce had been added to the very center of the container, making it a bit more Pad Thai-ish than the bare noodles in the other 2/3 of the takeout container. Pulled out the chicken bits and those two shrimp and trashed the rice noodles because I didn't even have a store-bought packet of Pad Thai sauce on hand to zhush it up! On the cold side, the go-to order of sushi Chirashi was good, fortunately because we were down two dishes out of three!
