The food here is decent and usually seems fresh. Wait times aren't too long and the staff is friendly. I've never been inside the lobby only in the drive through. They have pretty good deals if you join the texting and get the app. Ordering online can be tricky or maybe I'm just getting old I have managed to successfully order online one time and they got my order right. I would recommend parking in the east parking lot if you're dining inside as the other side is small and cramped looking. read more

My husband is addicted to the fish & I love the shrimp and the coleslaw. We stop at the one in Marysville whenever we go south on our way home. Sometimes my husband drives down just to get and bring home our favorites. We lived in the Bay Area for 30 yrs and we are picky about seafood. read more

This is, hands down, the best Long John Silver's I've ever been to. The staff is so friendly, and even came to our table to see if we were happy with our food. The place is clean and organized. I was running late for lunch and decided to stop by the drive thru for my occasional guilty pleasure. Nearly $10 for a 2 fish plate which also includes fries and 2 hush puppies. The order was ready within 30 seconds which was a bit alarming. When I ate the food I realized my concern was warranted. The fish wasn't crispy and was instead soggy with oil. I'm not expecting Michelin star food from this place but at least get the crispy part right! Genuinely surprised at how good it was. Staff was extremely friendly and the store was spotless. Kitchen appeared to be spotless as well. It's been well over 5 years since I've been here and I was impressed. I ordered their fish tacos and they were good. Fish was crunchy and the lime sauce they use on them is a little sweet & spicy. April 25th, 2024 is the first time in AGES that I have visited Marysville's LJS. It was not busy at all; I went through the drive-thru. The service was fine and the food was actually pretty good! But the reason for my rating was because I ordered a #2 meal. When I got to my destination and took a bite, it was chicken--I was expecting fish!! I tried and tried to call the restaurant but no one would answer the phone. With an empty parking lot and no waiting customers when I drove through, it's hard to believe they had a sudden rush of customers within five minutes. I was trying to call to verify the menu actually was chicken instead of fish. They did not verify the order as many drive thru places do, nor did they ask if I wanted small med or large beverage and just gave me a small. That was actually ok, but my point is they didn't ask! Nor did they ask if I wanted any condiments. When I asked if there was any sauce, they said, "You didn't ask." That was a first! Normally places ask, if you want any, what type and how many. We stopped here on a road trip. We used to eat at LJS when I was a kid so it's nostalgic. I decided to go inside to order. I was surprised at how clean and well kept the inside was for such an old restaurant. It was spotless! I ordered the fish and shrimp and it was really good. The batter is seasoned and very flavorful. The coleslaw was fresh. Service was great. Since most locations of this restaurant are closed, it is obvious the great management of this place is what keeps it open. read more

I have only ever been to Long John's once in my life, so I decided to try it out since it's in town. It took me 10 mins of staring at their menu to finally decide on their platter. The seafood was good, however the tarter sauce was horrible. You would think that a place specializing in fish would have a great sauce, but nope, ur pretty much eating raw light mayonnaise. Well I came back here once again to see if anything has improved over the years and I can say they have not. I happen to order the thick cod dinner thinking you cannot go wrong with cod. I was very wrong in the fact you could tell the fish they used was frozen way too long. Though the cod was very white and was not flaky at all and there was no taste except for the tarter sauce I dipped it in. It tasted like they need to change their cooking oil. I am also suprised by the amount of food the give you for this $8.49 dinner. A very small serving of cole slaw and french fries. I do not know if other LJS give such a small amount of food but this one sure does. So if you're hungry better order two of each dinner plate. The heck with the two plates all that fried food will get you full. read more

Let me start by saying that I've been eating long John silvers for a long time and anytime they have fixed it with no issues, that is until tonight. My mom went through the drive thru and placed an order for 7 meals. Upon opening my food at home everything looked fine. I started eating my coleslaw and just before taken another bite, after already half way through it, I stopped causing something funny. Upon further inspection that something funny was freaking maggots. That's right maggots and after looking into the issue further it was in more than just my coleslaw. So I called and spoke to the manager and informed him of the issue and he responded with well I'll look at our current batches and if I see any then I'll pull it otherwise sorry it was in yours. I'm sorry but that's not okay I will never again eat here. I'm beyond disgusted at the fact I had maggots in my food and the manager seemed to careless on the phone. I'd be pulling all them batches and making some fresh ones before to many people are served the nasty bug infested coleslaw. Please please please everyone check your food from here before you eat it. read more

Doing a sales call in Yuba City, kind of reminds me of vallejo.. anyhow though, i saw a Long John Silvers...never seen or had it before so i decided to give it a shot. I mean they have these commercials on TV and they dont have one in SF so kind of like Sonic Burger I just wanted to see why they had em so far away from SF. All I can say about this place is that its mainly a kfc but with fish instead of chicken...the shrimp isnt really crispy or anything and the fish is not taht bad..so overall i give it two stars plus one star cause i like how they set up the place... Decided to go out on a spur of the moment had a fish craving. Always had a good dining experience in the past, until today. Let me start with their cashier kinda rude and short like serving us was impossion. Felt unwelcome. Upon receiving our meal it was saturated in oil. It's been years since I've been here and I really haven't missed anything. The family ordered several differing menu items. What I found strange was that nobody could tell the difference between the fish planks and the chicken planks. We also ended up with a pile of hush puppies because after one bite nobody would eat anymore. I wanted to like LJS and have it bring back memories of childhood but I just couldn't. Sure, it's fast food, but there's no other fast-food place that serves up our favorite LJS dishes! The LJS batter is simply yummy, and this particular store usually seems to get the oil temperature right--so the fried batter isn't overly laden with oil. I love their fish tacos and am glad they added this item to their menu. As of this week, they upped the price from 99 cents to $1.99, but they now put an entire piece of fish in each taco vs. half a piece. The cole slaw recipe is heavy on the sugar, but I usually order it because I like it. I tend to order items à la carte rather than meals; I like that I can order fish and chicken without the sides if I wish. What stands out about this particular store is the service. I usually do drive-through, and I've NEVER encountered a rude or grouchy clerk at the window! Smiles, friendly comments and uncomplaining adjustments when I decide to add something at the window are the service I've come to expect. Let's not be snobbish: This is fast food. But it's one of my favorite fast-food options. read more

Went through drive thru around 4:45 pm. Ordered a family meal, 8 fish, hush puppies and 2 sides. Also ordered 3 extra chicken and 5 shrimp. The fish was so dark and old. It was like shoe leather! The rest of the food was ok. Looks like they cleaned out the old fish that has been sitting there quite a while! Waste of $30! Very upsetting! read more

Ah....the allure of the unknown. If only some things would stay unknown. Like how to split the atom, harnessing the energy of cold fusion, and how much my scale thinks I weigh. Since I'd never eaten at a Long John Silver's Seafood, it was enticing, seductive, and the pictures on the website made my mouth water. But let me break it down in a way that is easy to understand. Say someone signs up for an online dating account. Suddenly a plethora of attractive singletons are arranged by height, width and horizontal preference. Picture, after picture of perfectly groomed, poised fun, exuberant personality, follows reams of carefully composed personal statements and impersonal answers to inane questions. Some have fill-in-the-blank such as, "I like...." (This question initially confused me so I put down, "....fish,"). All in all, you select around 20 that look good, and maybe sound interesting, but mostly they have to look GOOD. On the day of the date, you wait patiently for the gorgeous photo to come to life, walk in the coffee shop/restaurant agreed upon, only to find that the photo was taken 10 years ago before s/he lost most of their hair and compensated for the loss by gaining several inches around the waist. It can't be any worse, you think, at least the personality of the profile is still there. So you prompt Gorgeous there with a coy question, you clever minx, you. Imagine your reaction when the substance that comes out of Gorgeous' mouth amounts to the sound of a whoopie cushion. I was so excited by my first visit to LJS that I blew my load. I couldn't decide on anything and stood slack-jawed in line for about 10 minutes before I grilled the little kid working the register about what all the delicious pictures meant. It was so tempting. I wanted it all. Finally some part of my fried-fish brain snapped some order in to me. I got the crunchy chicken salad with light italian dressing, added on a flounder, a crab cake and 3 oz of clam strips. I'm so glad I got the salad because it was about the only thing where the breading to filling ration did not exceed 200. Clam strips - what clams? Upon opening the box, I pulled out strips of fried, heavily breaded, extremely salty...bread. There was nothing detectable in the middle of the breading. I would not be surprised if they turned out to be vegetarian were it not for the lard they fry it in. Just kidding!! Alaskan Flounder filet - they have flounder in Alaska? Should have been a dead giveaway there. Again, the results were consistent with above. No amount of Malt Vinegar Sauce could save it. Not even hot sauce. Crab cake - Because of this, I shall no longer carelessly order crab cakes. This has shown me that previously, I have never had a bad crab cake and in the future, I will appreciate what I have because when that illusion was ripped from my greasy little paws, something inside me cried a little. Crunchy Chicken Salad - Don't you think the fried breading on the chopped chicken plank would be enough crunch for the average heart to give up beating, throw in the towel and say, "that's it, if you're going to keep this up, you're on your own," as it places a mechanical drumming monkey in its place. They don't think so here. In this salad, I found a generous scattering of fried breading bits. Like tempura crunch topping at fusion Japanese places. And it was very very salty. Very salty. No dressing needed because it was super salty. read more

They forget half your take out order and then when they say next time they will compensate you for your inconvenience, they can't find the name they said they would put into their book. Then they basically say you are lying. Store manage doesn't seem to care if you never come back. Must be nice to have so many customers you don't care if you lose some due to a bad customer experience. Bottom line: Employees are incompetent, lie about what they will do, and the manager doesn't care how you are treated. read more

I know better, but I stopped anyway. It was hot, it was greasy and it tasted actually there was no taste. I guess they must leave their shrimp in a freezer for a long time, it lacked any taste and the fries were just limp and gummy. Never Again! Seriously I will never eat there again.
