Not impressed! Based on yelp reviews I thought I would treat my wife to a nice brunch. The restaurant/view is beautiful, but spending $19 per plate (for breakfast) for mediocre food was disappointing. We were looking forward to the Dungeness pancakes...they ran out! My wife's eggs were undercooked. The egg whites were extremely runny. My over medium eggs were over cooked. We would have returned both but the service was too slow. I won't go into coffee and tea refills or water. Hoping we just caught them on a bad day. read more

This may be my new favorite restaurant. Classy place, with casual dress. First I noticed the charmingly arranged plants, rocks, wood and mini waterfall at the entrance. Inside I was struck by natural beauty items in the decor. Seated by a window viewing not only the ocean through the trees, but romantic plants and walkway. Glass art in the water glasses and candleholders. So much to love. Menu offerings sound so thoughtfully prepared with unusual ingredients. Arriving at 3:30, only appetizers were available Luckily, we chose the Dungeness toast and Louisiana style barbeque prawns. And the prize-winning delectable clam chowder in unusual bowls was an instant favorite. Piano music played but we could still enjoy quiet conversation. We finished with marionberry cobbler and their version of a chocolate sundae. We'll be back. After we save up for another somewhat pricey but delightful meal. Someone with thoughtful care has created this memorable experience, perfect for that most special occasion. read more

My wife and I had great meals at the restaurant before it burned and were anxious to return after the rebuild. The essence of the old restaurant has been reborn in the new building. The food quality isn't quite back. There used to be a fried razor clam on the menu that was tender and delicious. Now there are clam fritters; typical fritters of more filler than clam. I had a dinner special of lobster and linguine. The lobster was plentiful but flavorless and the linguine came with what seemed like a Kraft mac and cheese sauce. Less than I expected for a $30+ dinner. Curiously the chef favored the attractive ladies at the next table by personally serving one person two full lobster tails - something I would have liked if it had been on the menu. My wife had scampi and declared it 'typical '. Nothing special. However, we both agreed the smoked duck breast salad was exceptional. And finally Grandma's clam chowder. While it may be the same recipe since 1953, it's different than the last time I had it. Maybe it's like my Grandmother's cooking,, over the years it just wasn't the same or as good as it once was. read more

I didn't even get a look at the view, and I would still describe this place as A Maze Zing. The hubby and I and another couple enjoyed a fabulous dinner after sunset so the windows were more like mirrors on the inky black ocean. Nonetheless, the tableau of food in front of us was breathtaking, and it tasted as good as it looked. The wine list included wines from Maryhill, an eastern Washington vineyard, and when I saw Albariño by the glass, I knew I would be ordering an entree to coordinate. I settled on a vegan curry, which might be boring at the hands of another chef but was zingy and delicious here. My husband enjoyed "thinguine" with crab sauce, a housemade thin linguine that was divine. The loaded mashed potatoes across the table looked similarly decadent. We also shared a locally foraged mushroom app and a marionberry cobbler for dessert, evidence the chef takes advantage of fresh, local ingredients. Staff here is horribly rude. Food is subpar and overpriced. The older gentleman at the front desk seems to think he's working at a five star resort. If you want comparable food the drive down to Oyhut Bay Grille is well worth it for better treatment and quality of food. Would recommend skipping this one. read more

Modest restaurant with spectacular views and fabulous food! The crab cottage cheese pancakes are to die for. Also enjoyed the eggs Benedict. Dinner was salmon in a maple balsamic reduction and gorgonzola mashed potatos. The creme Brule was divine. My friend had the cumin orange BbQ shrimp ....also delicious with bold flavor. I ordered the Scampi Toscana. It tasted like a Marie Calendar frozen dinner. The pasta was over cooked and the shrimp were prepared by boiling them. I assume thrown in with the pasta water. They were tasteless and rubbery. The sauce was watery and stayed at the bottom of my bowl instead of on my pasta. We then ordered the Chocolate ganache cake. The bottom cake "puck" was so stale I could barely cut it with my fork. We spent over $100 on this joke of a meal. I'll never go back. read more

The food was pretty good, not fantastic, especially considering the price for the entrees. There were a couple of items we wanted that they were out of, which the waiter should have let us know from the get go. The service was way below average as we had to ask several times for water and the wine that was ordered with the dinner. Also, I received my main dish before the other folks in our party received theirs - not cool. The entree was good, but the side veggies were overcooked and limp. It was also unfortunate that there was a party of ten exuberant folks which came in and sat behind us after we received our appetizers. We often were not able to hear each other at our table of four after they arrived. I would have given the service a two and the meal a 3.5, which averaged to about a 3 star overall. Unfortunately, this is the only decent restaurant in the vicinity for many, many miles. read more

My wife and I ate there last night (9/13/15) with my sister and her husband. The good: our wait person, Tammy, was pleasant and accommodating. The rest room is fancy with terry cloth towels to dry your hands. The view is terrific. The bad: the food. I had a Caesar salad that had almost no dressing. I ordered a glass of Pinot Noir for my wife and I. At $14 dollars each I expected a bit more than having the bottom of the glass covered with a mediocre wine that had been around too long. I ordered a dungeons crab pasta that had very little white sauce and what it had was unremarkable. My wife ordered the cioppino which was made with tomato paste (no broth), very little sea food but with muscles that were essentially raw and salmon that was under cooked. Oh and desert. We ordered their signature "best brownie you've ever had". NOT. It was dry and worse than mediocre. My brother-in-law ordered a rib-eye steak that was more fat than meat. Since we went Dutch treat I don't know what my sister and brother-in-law paid but I know that we paid $140, plus tip, for our two salads, wine and dinner. Frankly, it was the worst food we've had for that amount of money. read more

I had eaten here 8 years ago (before the fire) and it was phenomenal. Had lunch last Sunday, absolutely gorgeous view from the restaurant, but the food didn't match. I was disappointed. $50 for lunch, no drinks, no dessert and the food was a step mediocre. Had dinner at Quinault Beach the same day and for half the price. The restaurant and bar has been re-done superbly, but I certainly hope I was there on an off day. Oh, we were the only table occupied at the time, and it still took a while for clam chowder, crab melt and a burger. I'm not sure about the crab melt... where was the crab? read more

4.5-stars -- my wife and I enjoyed a delicious dinner of wild elk and duck, surprised by the quality of our meal considering the relative isolation of the area. In this sense, Ocean Crest serves food much better than they need to, and the price appropriately reflects the quality. Great wine list and view to boot! If we're back in the area, and looking for an amazing dinner, we'll absolutely be back! read more

Stopped in on a Wednesday evening, not real busy but hey it was a Wednesday evening! We started with a glass of Vino and a T&T, both above par in all categories. Tammy was our waitperson, don't know if it was us or just her great personality but we were friends before we left. With our water we were brought bread and soft rosemary butter (Cold hard butter irks us). Started with Louisiana Prawns, great flavor, served with ciabatta bread. Followed by 2 bowls of clam chowder, some of the best this side of the Mississippi. Dinner was Salmon au Poivre and Seafood Fettuccine, both perfectly sized, perfectly prepared and fabulous. Our drinks were on what Tammy called auto refill, sure enough they were automatically refilled as needed. We were celebrating an early birthday so one of our deserts was on the house. A cup of good coffee and we were on our way. This place is a diamond in the rough err in the woods I mean. Looking for a great place to eat with a view of the ocean, this is the place for you. Be sure to ask for Tammy, she's one of the best. read more

A beautiful and comfortable dining experience. Chefs Jessie and Ron put on culinary delight of color, freshness, taste and texture. The servers are very polite, polished and efficient. A meal is a taste journey into unexpected flavor combinations. Chef Jessie is a very attentive host as well and will check in with the dining guests to ensure guests are enjoying their meal. The staff really makes this place very enjoyable and welcoming. Sam was great! Funny and patient with our group of 4 indecisiveness due to a brand new menu. I was looking forward to trying the Elk but it wasn't on the new menu due to supplier sourcing issue...or as Sam put it, the herd was moving too fast. We had the lamb chops, shrimp scampi, seafood Alfredo and a steak trio. All good choices! The chef even came out to see how we liked the new menu offerings. Their wine selection is pretty extensive especially considering their remote location. We ordered and enjoyed 2 nice bottles from what we found out later is a defunct winery, so it made those bottles even more enjoyable in retrospect knowing there were no more anywhere. My wife and I grabbed breakfast here on our way back home. The restaurant had a great view through trees to the beach which made for great ambiance. I ended up getting the special which was a skillet with ham, bacon, and sausage with eggs and gravy on top. It was delicious! My wife got the Dungeness crab pancakes which were also very good. They're a savory pancake so not your regular pancake with syrup. I would definitely recommend stopping in for a great meal! read more

The evening started wonderfully as we sat by the window and soaked in the sunset and ocean view. Then we opened the menu and were a little surprised by the prices....seafood entrees in the mid $30's and steaks in the mid $40's. So with that we were ready for very high quality food. It never happened. I ordered the clam chowder (very good) and the scallop entree. My wife had a salad and the crab cakes. My wife's salad arrived with wet lettuce like it had been washed but not dried off, so the salad was soggy and watery. But the biggest problem was my entree, where the scallops showed up looking lovely, but with the first bite, I realized they were cold and horribly undercooked. We could not find our waiter, so we asked another waiter to take it back....it took so long to get my dish back that my wife was completely finished with her crab cakes (which she felt were only OK) when they brought the dish. It was now warm enough, but not as good as the price they were charging. Clearly something was going wrong back in the kitchen. We understand that out in this remote location, we cannot expect the gourmet experience of a Seattle restaurant, but then again, don't charge high end prices for average food, poorly prepared. We cannot recommend this restaurant. Mill 109, just up the road, does a much better job at much more appropriate prices. read more

The food is always excelent. I had the elk tenderloin and white chocolate mashed potatoes. My friend had the halibut. And we couldn't decide on desserts so we got three and shared. They were all amazing. But what sets this place apart is the view. Up high you can see the ocean through the trees. They have perfectly captured the wild beauty of the Washington coast. I have been there before when you could watch the whales migrate while enjoying a delicious meal. And I haven't even mentioned the service! Outside of the more expensive restaurants in Seattle you can't get more professional and attentive service. You will pay for it. With each meal ranging from $30 to $50. But if you can afford it it's well worth it. I do think lunch is a bit more affordable. read more

This was a real surprise. Totally blown away by the menu!. We enjoyed breakfast and then came back for dinner. My husband had French toast with blueberries and coaconut. I had a crab Benedict. Both were out of this world. It has the best view of the ocean and surf thru the pines. Two bald eagles soared through the trees. The dinner menu is inventive and makes you want to try each selection. We did not stay at the resort but would definitely plan on staying when we come back again. I understand there is a spa there as well. I think this would be a special place to come for a special occasion weekend celebration. read more

Went here for an impromptu breakfast. Was seated right away but the after this, our experience went downhill fast. The service and food is mediocre at best. I ordered the Beach Breakfast and couldn't eat it past the first bite. It is supposed to come with a dill sauce and there was none. It's a filleted clam then deep fried in a panko crust. It was flavorless and super oily. This description wasn't even in the menu and I'm gluten intolerant. My boyfriend had these "special" crab pancakes that were gross and runny and my son couldn't eat his crepes because they overwhelmingly sweet. The eggs were fine and the bacon good. The coffee was weak. When asked if there was a problem with my clam Beach Breakfast, I told the server it was not as described on the menu and it was "not good". I expected with that, as we didn't eat even half of it, that plate should have been removed from the bill. IT WAS NOT! My boyfriend is too kind to say anything so he paid $18 for a gross plate we did even eat. Shame on this restaurant for charging us. We actually already had dinner reservations that we have since canceled. I would avoid eating here. read more

We came for lunch. The food was more like four stars but our waitress definitely five stars. We had chowder which was good, not great. My elk burger was pretty good. My wife had a Sara burger which she enjoyed. We were full and skipped dessert. We started with cocktails. My wife thought the negroni good but has had better. I thought the manhattan ok but overpriced. The wine list is extraordinary. We were challenged by it because there were many choices. We found a petit Verdot but there were many others that appealed to us and that excludes the Leonetti and Quilceda Creek parts of the list which were great opportunities but not now. This is a great place for lunch but we know the feeling: a pickup meal turns into a fifty dollar lunch. We don't regret it and will be back. read more

Beautiful restaurant with excellent views. Disappointed with nearby destination town food options I checked yelp. We went for breakfast and were floored about how nice the ambience and food was. I had the crab pancakes which were made with cottage cheese. Very rich but something different. My husband had the Vanilla French toast made with a French bread loaf! Loved it! We decided to come back for dinner. The clam chowder was excellent not over salted or pasty. I had the mussels and he had a steak. The chefs take pride in their menu. The grounds look like some of the beaches in Hawaii. Hotel looked a little worn though. I hope they remodel it to the same standards they did for the restaurant! read more

We had a reservation for right when they opened for dinner and had a fantastic meal and great dining experience. Service was wonderful and the chef came out and visited. I had the Olympic Surf/turf (Venison and oysters) and my wife had prawns. Both were wonderful. The razor clam appetizer was great-both pieces were the size of my palm. Had dinner on Sunday, 5/29/16. The view is 4 stars and the food is 1-2. There were 5 in our party, 4 adults and 1 child. The waitress forgot one of our drinks until being reminded and never brought my daughter a small water glass as promised. She did bring some stuffed animals to the table to keep my daughter company, but we ended up having to buy one to avoid a temper tantrum. The razor clams and mussel appetizers were ok, mussels were salty. The waitress brought my daughter some beef vegetable soup that was ice cold. Our meals were the Curried Scallops, Halibut Cheeks special, two Dungeness Crab pastas, and Oodles of Noodles for the little one. None of these were memorable except they were not hot, barely warm at best. The scallops were even sent back because they were so cold. Our waters were never refilled. This was the biggest waste of $200 ever. We will probably come back to the beach at Moclips, but will not come back to the Ocean Crest Restaurant. read more

we had dinner there recently and it was great. walked in at 4 and asked for a 6pm reservation with a window seat. host explained they couldn't seat us in a window seat at 6pm due to others already having reservations. they offered seating alternatives quickly and we choose a 515 window seating with amazing views. food was great. staff made recommendations based on what i told them i was in the mood for after perusing the very varied menu. i was happy with their suggestions and my appetizer, dinner and dessert were so tasty that i came in for breakfast the next day and lunch that same day as well. different server each time, but just as great of service. and of course food tasted great. for lunch we ate on open air deck and it was great as well. p.s. it was great ;) read more

I called ahead 2 days before our trip to the coast, wondering if we would need to make reservations for lunch on Saturday the 26th. I called because I knew there was a regional festival (Chocolate on the Beach festival) that might interfere with our plans. I spoke with Lisa, and I asked if we would need reservations for lunch, as we knew the Chocolate Festival might make the restaurant busy. She said no, that we wouldn't need reservations for lunch, and she'd see us Saturday. We arrived at noon, and asked for a table for two. Staff informed us that lunch wouldn't be served that day. No explanation why, though I already knew that they were hosting an event for the Festival. They didn't even ask if we wanted to join them for the wine and chocolate pairings. Needless to say, we didn't get to try lunch at Ocean Crest resort. AND because of the rude staff and complete waste of our time (we planned our Saturday lunch around a stop at Ocean Crest), we will never try again. Oh and the snooty restaurant staffer blamed the other employee who I spoke with on the phone ("well, you probably called the hotel staff and they don't know anything about the restaurant"). Nice. Throw your co-worker under the proverbial bus. I phoned Ocean Crest Resort, and inquired about the restaurant. Sorry I didn't understand your snooty clique, lady. Terrible "customer service" and we barely set foot in the door. We took our business elsewhere and won't be back. read more

I ordered the Elk Burger which came with an intriguing huckleberry onion sauce. I was pleasantly surprised. The sauce was a perfect compliment to the game meat lending it a pleasant flavor balance and moisture to the meat which at ordinary restaurants is supplied by too much pork. Next time, I will separate half of the sauce to eat with the 2nd half since I had squeezed most of it out eating the first half. I was offered more sauce. The accompanying cole slaw had a pleasant mix of nappa (Chinese) and red cabbage with just enough excellent mild dressing rather than drowned in mayo as in common slaw. My partner had the Grilled Chicken Cobb Salad which she proclaimed delicious and well arranged. She uncharacteristically ate the whole large portion. Then we ordered dessert: OMG! Chocolate Indulgence was to die for: three scoops of excellent Olympic Mountain vanilla ice cream served artistically along side of the most flavorfully different chocolate sauce I have ever tasted. It is a warm, molten chocolate silk flourless cake. A bowl of hot chocolate sundae heaven to share. Altogether a wonderful dining experience. My wife and I enjoyed dinner at the restaurant on our recent overnight stay. The staff was very friendly and was able to seat us a several minutes prior to our scheduled reservation. We had the clam chowder, beet salad, beef carpaccio, duck breast, crab pasta, chocolate indulgence and creme brulee along with wine and beer. The food portions were rather small but everything was delicious. With tip our tab was around $160. My only gripe: after waiting a bit for our meal, our server came by to inform me that the chef had overcooked my duck...which I'd ordered medium rare. While I applaud the staff for owning up to the error (and provided us some extra bread during the wait) I'd have thought a complimentary dessert or knocking a few bucks off the tab would have been a nice gesture. When the duck came it was perfectly cooked but our meal was served 15-20 minutes later than it should have been. Overall the quality of the food was excellent...just a tad better customer service would have rated five starts easily. read more

Amazing! We vacationed right on the beach here, in a cabin and had nowhere to eat. Luckily, we stopped here just to try it out... We came back repeatedly! The kitchen and bathrooms were spotless; which is great for any restaurant. We loved the views, but most of all the food! I recommend the Veggie Frittata and any of the Benedicts... They also have a great coffee blend. Thank you for making our vacation even better! read more
