There's nothing like the comfort of getting your usual waitress at the end of a long week- the comfort that some things never change. Coming here for the first time I had high expectations. I was recommended this restaurant from my friend, so I was excited to try it. Sadly my expectations were shortly met. The service wasn't very attentive. We were seated right away however, with only four tables full I felt like they wouldn't be able to seat anymore. I could hear the conversations from the near by tables. It was a very comfortable atmosphere. The waitress was very sick and coughing profusely. Coughing over other customers, and over tables. She wasn't covering her mouth, and not washing her hands. The food wasn't very good either. The misu soup was cold, didn't taste very fresh. The ocean fish roll had eel in it that tasted burnt. No lie, like at least 20-30 dollar meals but sure isnt that price theyre very affordable! max 10-20 for a very filling and big meal. I ordered the Ramen with Tempura last time i was there and my boyfriend always orders the Bento Box with 3 items which is usualy only around $12 or so and the Ramen was around $10 during lunch. The bento comes with so many great options to add also! ie: Tofu, variety tempura, CA Rolls, I got a really good tempura roll when i was here few months back. Quite yummy! We went during lunch time and ordered 4 rolls and got a firecracker roll for free (for spending $40). I was a little skeptical when we walked in and were the only people there but the food was great. The Flaming Alaska was probably my favorite roll. Despite being pretty empty (1 other table walked in when we got our food) my water was never refilled and soda comes in a can... so I had to knock off a star for that, otherwise, my husband and I will definately be back! read more

I walked into the restaurant just before six. The place wasn't very busy yet so the waitresses were chatting by the register. One saw me waiting to be seated and pointed to a table without moving in my direction or saying a word. I didn't move or sit down on purpose. Eventually she turned fully around and gave me a practiced smile... pointed again to the same table and without much focus placed the menu on the table. I sat down and right away was given a cup of tea, that was nice. After a very short period of time the waitress asked what I wanted to order. I told her that I knew I wanted some Miso soup, with a smile ( thinking if I added charm to the scene she would behave better). The whole experience felt rushed. I was eating alone and willing to buy lots of rolls. Asked her for some more time, it was then that I decided I would report my experience on Yelp. After telling her I needed more time she walked away without expression or a word, As if she was annoyed. I checked my watch and it was 6:03. I wasn't here 5 min. I ordered the Pacifica Love roll and the 49er roll. Both were excellent but not worth the shitty service. The miso was grainy ... its better at Sushi Koko. I'd have given a 1 star but one of the other waitresses gave me a more genuine smile and asked how my dinner was. She was slightly taller, thinner and much more pleasant. read more

Lord help you though if you get the washed up, bitchy old waitress that tends to only favor older gentlemen. I can never get over how rude she is (and frankly how stupid she is for being rude to customers such as myself that usually leave 25-30% gratuity) and how slow she is for someone in the restaurant industry. If you don't have the hustle, don't like people, like to be rude and constantly act like you're put out by having to serve, find another job! To the owners of ocean fish, wise up and can her ass. Update: We've been to Ocean Fish several times since my original review in January, and remain very satisfied. Something not apparently mentioned by others: they now have a Tuesday-Thursday special on oysters ($1 ea.) and $2 for small beer or Sake or $3 for a large beer/sake. (Inexpensive beer and oysters? Dang, I could live on that alone!) The oysters are VERY good and fresh. I'm pretty picky about that, and I really do love these oysters. Tangy, a little spicy, and all yum. Not sure if this is a limited-time thing, so get it while it lasts! I'm a little bit surprised by the few harsh reviews posted. Then again, even the best restaurants hit a snag now and then. What I can say is that the owners are clearly committed to making it work - they're personally invested and are really nice people. They've always been receptive and appreciative about the advice and feedback I've offered. So, Pacifica people, if you weren't satisfied with what you got at Ocean Fish, let them know (in a kind way) so that they can get the benefit of knowing what's working and not working, and you get the benefit of a well-run Sushi joint in your town. read more

This place has gone down hill!!!!!!! I came in last night with my sister and we were both disappointed. We used to come here all the time when we lived in the area, it was great then. But things have totally changed! I will never be coming here again. The service sucked. Our salad came LAST. The waitress was no where to be found. When I tried to get the other waitress' attention, she was too busy conversing with her table about her personal life. No one was paying attention to us! If I can give zero stars, I would. Also, the entrées did not come out at the same time. We were waiting awhile for everything to be at our table. This is the last time I'm coming to this place. One of my favorite Japanese restaurants. The staff is super attentive, friendly and the food just tastes fresh. I've been going there probably twice a month for the last couple of years and I'm not even a huge fan of Japanese food. But in trying to eat more fish, love loading up on the salmon and sushi. The Udon is filling and flavorful as well. Its a small place, but they get you in and out in a hurry so rarely have to wait for a table even though its usually busy. read more
