Great ambiance and location. The menu was upscale with options for different tastes. The wait time was disappointing, though. Our party of 3 was seated immediately, but after submitting our order, we waited over an hour to receive our dishes. The best item was the wagyu beef and yuca appetizer. The hat trick sushi roll was delicious too. We ordered the Caribbean chicken, shrimp fried rice, and the beef pho. Those were not really to our taste. The rice dish was a bit dry. The pho and chicken were delicious but a bit too spicy. Hopefully they'll offer the option for clients to be served milder versions of those. First & foremost, our server Lorraine was top-notch from greeting to departure. She advised us truthfully on what cocktails, apps and entrees to order. It was extremely helpful. She also read my OpenTable bio and acknowledged that I don't eat pork and like Prosecco. Even though the restaurant was ending service, she didn't treat us like the annoying last table that needed to leave. She took her time with us and made us feel as though we weren't being rushed. As late diners, this treatment is rare. She took the time to get to know us and our preferences. Added plus, as locals, we received a discount on our bill. I'm so glad we decided to check this place out! Ocean Hai is located in Wyndham! We were staying at Hyatt, and did some researching beforehand, and made reservations here! The food is so so good, and the service is AMAZING! So good we did breakfast and dinner here, but keep in mind - make reservations! For beginnings - we got the Wagyu Beef & Peppers - SO SO SO GOOD. The flavor was amazing. And we loved the tempura shishito peppers. We also ordered the shrimp fried rice and one of the sushi rolls! I'm so sad I can't remember the name because it was perfect. I wasn't the biggest fan of the shrimp fried rice - it was a lot more peas than I wanted maybe hahah, but the egg roll that came with it was good! We loved the sushi roll so much!! Definitely one of the best restaurants in Clearwater beach! We went for dinner and ordered a little bit of everything. The sushi was surprisingly amazing and we would definitely order it again. We also ordered oysters that were amazing, the wagyu with peppers that definitely wasn't "wagyu" and over cooked, and crab rangoons that were pretty good. Sashimi was very fresh and even had the option of GF Soy sauce (coconut aminos). Same with the Poke. Biggest reason not getting the fifth star: Management needs to address the door to the patio. Slams every time its used which became annoyingly startling while trying to enjoy the experience. Also, server area is right out in the common dining area. While attempting to appear neat bottles of ketchup look out of place and distract from what is a very pleasant atmosphere. read more

Nice cocktails and their wines are affordable especially because of their prime location, they could charge more. Thank goodness they don't! I am staying at the hotel and stopped by for lunch. Lunch appears to run from 12-2pm and has a reduced menu. There was not many people dining in. I was stopping by for a sushi roll before a massage at a hotel nearby and allotted 35 minutes. From the time I sat down until the sushi arrived was a long time, so after twenty minutes when my food arrived I had to ask for the check immediately from my server. The Spicy Tuna roll was very tasty. The plate presentation was beautiful. The spicy mayo drops on the side were great to dip my roll in. The fresh ginger pieces allowed me to cleanse my palate between my bites. The restaurant is situated right on the gulf and the views are great. I sat outside where it was pleasant and breezy. I bet at dinner this place is more lively and hopefully faster service. The dinner menu is impressive and creative, I'll be back soon to try it out. read more

We've been dining at Ocean Hi 2 times as we stayed at this hotel for a week. The service has been excellent. The food has not. First time we ordered fish: salmon and grouper. While salmon was ok, grouper was very plain and tasteless. Ok, the next day we visited the restaurant again. We ordered chicken and pork chops. While the pork chops were ok, the chicken was just horrible - completely overcooked and very dry... so be aware! If you are coming here for sushi, it may be ok as we saw many people ordered sushi. For everything else - stay away! This place is totally overrated and does not deserve the 4 stars rating. At least from our experience. Again - service is five stars! We absolutely love it!! The food is pretty poor... To be absolutely fair: we are going for a breakfast to Ocean Hi every morning and the breakfast is outstanding! The breakfast variety is amazing and the service is top notch! We love it! However, the dinner experience has been quite disappointing. This was supposed to be an award winning restaurant with a fantastic breakfast buffet. I asked for a ham and cheese omelette and received more or less ham with eggs pored over the top, over cooked and then folded in half. Not even close to an omelette, the pancakes were flat and cooked in a pan way to hot. I gave them a second chance and ordered a veggie omlet the next day and it was cooked exactly the same way, the pancakes were the same and dusted in powdered sugar. Love the modern vibey look to it so that caught my attention. We ordered some appetizers to start off: mussels, beef skewers, volcano roll and the crazy rich sushi rolls. All of that was delicious! I recommend ordering those. Now with the main entrees, we had the gulf grouper and the wagyu sirloin and I gotta say...I'm a bit disappointed in those dishes. It barely had any flavor to it. That was the only downside to my night at the restaurant but other than that, the appetizers and drinks were absolutely amazing. Great food and ambiance. For appetizer, we had the beef skewer & frites, which included three large cuts of tender meat, soaked in steak sauce and three pieces of yucca. The beef and steak sauce were mouthwatering. The frites were a bit difficult to chew on, but we managed. For the entree, we had the crazy rich roll and the wagyu sirloin. Both were super tasty. Like most sushi, one roll will not fill the average adult; you will need at least two rolls. For dessert, we had the giant fortune cookie, which looked super cool. There is a fruity and tarty mousse under the cookie, which makes it more flavorful. The cookie itself tasted okay. I would not get again though. The ambiance was lovely since we got a nice view of the beach. The service was decent. Overall, this place is a great restaurant and we would definitely come back. read more

This place is pretty good. It's down on the beach and they have lots of different fusion options. Recently I had the curry with a gluten free substitute, which the restaurant has several options for. I've had their sushi also and it too is pretty fresh. I've not had something bad here. Service is friendly and attentive. Good date night or ladies night spot. They have a private room, dining room and bar seating. So several options. You can valet and get it validated at the restaurant. We tend to walk down the beach boardwalk after we eat. read more

I said my name and I had a reservation for 2 at 7:15 He said..,," I'll see you at 7:15 then" It felt rude and dismissive. After he said it he looked down- I said - What time is it?" He said "7:06pm" Ok- I was 9 minutes early!!!!! Why didn't he say: I can seat you - please wait a moment or Your table isn't ready- give me a few moments. He was rude. This restaurant is not cheap. I was kind of shocked. My 24 year old son raised his eyebrows like - what was that. The place was not full and to make things worse he said the same thing to a family of 5 that came in after us. We came here to celebrate a birthday which was unfortunately during spring break. The restaurant is right across from the beach so the overall vibe was a little hectic (lots of spring breakers). As the night went on the beach got calmer and the ambiance of the restaurant was much more enjoyable. The duck meat was too tough and not cooked well. The seafood hot pot was bland. There was no flavor to it and for $44?! Ridiculous. Eek. Was very excited to try out Ocean Hai... was quickly VERY disappointed. Started out with wagu beef skewers and the artisan salad. Beef skewers were okay, the salad was garbage. The salad came to our table with spring mixed lettuce, a clump of mushy, borderline rotten pomegranate seeds and a very sad green apple sliver. It was inedible and absolutely lacking any sort of culinary creativity to honor its $14 price tag. (Was so shocked I forgot to take a photo) For the entrée - ordered wagu beef pho. The sweetest pho broth imaginable. If we weren't starving at this point, we definitely would not have finished it. Used an entire ramekin of sriracha and it barely made a dent. Their wagu beef however was very tender and flavorful in this dish. Shocked that they could miss so badly. Paid $132 for dinner and left hungry and very unsatisfied. read more

One of the best meals I've had in Clearwater Beach. It's a four diamond restaurant and it shows. Our waitress was great. The drinks we had (Japanese whisky old fashion, kiwi margarita, best mai tai outside of Hawaii) was the best. The food was quite good too. To start off they gave us an amusement voucher of crab rangoon and edamame. My grouper entree was cooked perfectly and came with kimchi butter! They also had a kids menu for my girl too, but she ate Chinese meatballs appetizer and was great. Good flavor. It is a rare find to find a sushi bar in Clearwater Beach, and glad my wife enjoyed her sashimi entree too. They do Asian fusion quite well here. The desserts won me over. This restaurant was a terrible disappointment. I had my fiance's birthday lunch here. My family and I ordered the beef pho. It arrived with luke warm broth with the beef near raw and bloody. The broth is supposed to be hot enough to cook the beef, but it wasn't. The broth had zero taste. It was a very weird version of pho. We sent it back. The server told us that the chef does not like serving that dish-so why have it on the menu? The item needs to disappear from the menu because it is not it. The crab rangoons were lack luster, no flavor. The sweet chili sauce made it a bit better, I suppose. The sushi was the same-nothing special. The hoisin chicken bento box was OKAY, hence why I decided to leave a 2 star review versus 1 (though, I still feel the 2 stars is pushing it). The chicken and veggies were decent. It is definitely not good enough to cause me to return or recommend the place. The lunch menu is not very extensive either, so if you like options, this is not the place for you. The chocolate cake they brought out for my fiance's birthday was good and probably the best thing they offer. Again, nothing I would return again for. The outside deck facing the beach can definitely do with some maintenance and upkeep. It felt borderline gross sitting there to eat-especially with lovebugs attacking you constantly. The service is extremely mediocre. The hostess took us right away to a table on the outside deck, while the table was not even ready. Six of us stood there foolishly while it took 3 people that seemed to not know what they're doing to set up the table for more than 5 minutes. Weird. **19% tip is automatically added. Overall, this place is a terrible disappointment. I do NOT recommend it to anyone. Spend your money elsewhere-especially if celebrating an occasion. I had an amazing experience at Ocean Hai. My date ordered the brussels sprouts, which were absolutely spectacular. The combination of the Brussels, apple cider vinegar, perfectly cooked lardons and whatever other magical ingredients the chef used was outstanding. The highlight were the fish entrées! I really appreciate going to a restaurant that does not overcook a beautiful piece of fish. I had the Seabass, which seemed to melt in my mouth. It tasted as if it was infused with butter. I have to say it was the best Seabass I've ever eaten. My date had the grouper, which was equal to the Seabass. I've read some reviews that were unfavorable about the grouper and I can't understand it, at least based on my experience. It was also cooked perfectly, and had incredible flavor, which was not overwhelmed by the rest of the dish. The flavor of the fish was in the focus, as it should be. The service was outstanding. The hostess was kind enough to put the roses that I brought into a vase and setting those on our table before we were seated, so they would be a surprise to my date when we were seated. The vase was beautiful and she arranged the flowers which created the exact impression I was hoping for. Our server Raul was extremely attentive without being invasive during our romantic dinner. He just always seem to appear at the right time and then to disappear appropriately. It is clear that this restaurant trains their staff very effectively, something I have not always enjoyed about Florida dining experiences. 10/10 - AWESOME read more
