Even for diner food, this was some of the greasiest, worst tasting food I've eaten in a long time.

The drinks and dessert were fabulous. I tried each of the 12 oysters offered, and they were so indescribably delish. Best of all our server Chelsea, so very nice, helped us navigate through this culinary experience and was spot on with all her recommendations. You should make Reservations and you must be done within 2 hours. Your server will help you keep with the time, which is very helpful. The prices are good and worth every penny. I can't wait to come back her. And we will request Chelsea's section, she was absolutely fantastic!!

I was curious what took over that property and saw it was an oyster house. I was craving seafood and this was just the right place to feed those cravings. The inside of the room was updated and looks much better than what it looked like under Jerry's. The menu is small but everything looked pretty good. They had a print out of all the oysters that have to offer, I think it was at least 8 different types, with a description of what they taste like. I would say their description was spot on. Half a dozen oysters were $18. I liked the mignonette that came with it in a dropper bottle. Very nice touch. I also got the jumbo shrimp cocktail and boardwalk fries. The shrimp were huge, like 2-3 bites worth and the cocktail sauce was perfectly balanced. I didn't care for the boardwalk fries, they were dry and the old bay & vinegar seasoning was good but hardly noticeable. Lastly, our server was friendly and attentive. I would definitely come back here again! One last thing, I took a star off for the bartender with his hair tied back, who was singing along with the alt rock songs that were playing in the restaurant. Loudly. And for an excessively long time. It was so weird. He just kept singing for 2 songs.

They have a good selection of different oysters and are really fresh! They are knowledge about the flavors of each oyster type and have been on point every time! They have one of my favorite mignonettes made there that pair well with the oysters! The menu has rotating new items occasionally which helps change up the menu and choices available. The fish dishes are really flavorful, moist and cooked well! The crab dip was good, but underwhelming. They have delicious wine and cocktail here. The staff are always extremely friendly and accommodating. Food service is quick and on time. They have a big inside facility with a lot of seating. They have outdoor seating available during the warmer weathers and occasionally have live music and a fire pit. We will continue to back when we're in the area and definitely recommend trying this delicious food establishment!

Once I saw shrimp and grits on the menu, I immediately zeroed in on that. I love shrimp and grits going back to my Winchester days. Succulent shrimp, cheesy grits, and a nice porky meat to give it extra character. Here they use chorizo. But ham or bacon are good options as well. I also like that they give you eight big pieces of shrimp. Not like other restaurants that only give you two or four prawns and call it a day. The crab bisque is good too. A tasty soup that works well this time of year. Even though it was cold the first go around, the second one tasted hot and fresh. Of course it would taste good. The Delmarva region is abundant in crabs. Just as I would expect a clam chowder to taste great in New England or Manhattan. One thing to nitpick, it should come with oyster crackers, not saltines. They work better when it comes to a bisque or a chowder. Besides that, I have little to complain about.

Located in the quaint downtown, Striper Bites pays homage to Lewes' history as a former Dutch whaling and port city with nautical themed decor. Large wooden barrels, ship steering wheels, mounted fish and nets adorn the walls and accent the dark wooden furniture and color palette. There is a diverse menu, but when I'm in town with friends and family...I keep it simple. I'll usually start with one of the many beers on draft; check the chalkboard for what's on tap from the ever changing selection. The crab dip is an AMAZING appetizer. Chunks of crab meat are mixed in with cheese, given a quick bake, and served with buttered toast points. Great for sharing. You can also ask for additional pieces of bread (which I usually do) to sop up any residual dip. The bistro burger is nothing fancy...but everything a good pub style burger should be. A well seasoned angus beef patty is grilled is topped with aged white cheddar, bacon jam, house sauce, arugula, and nestled in a briche bun. The side of fries are also nice and crispy. Honestly, I've had the fish and chips, the fried shrimp, and other seafood dishes, and no suprise, it's all good. Service is always friendly, but not always as "prompt" when it gets busy - which in the summer during the high tourist season - but that's to be understood. Every town needs a neighborhood gathering spot like Striper Bites.
