Eggs, Hasbrowns, Biscuits, and Gravy for around $7.99

I've been coming to Norm's the almost at least two times a month for the past year. Honestly this place is such comfort. The food is good. The servers are friendly (especially Lucy!) She's such a sweetheart. It's such an easy drop in. I love coming alone and sitting at the counter. What do I get? Two pork chops, two eggs, hash browns, and pancakes. All that plus a cup of coffee comes to around $20. Talk about deal.

Stopped in here for a quick bite to eat while driving home from Long Beach. I've been to a NORMS before in Torrance and loved it, This location was busy but had the staff to keep up, saw lots of pick up orders. I sat at the counter, my waitress Sofia was very friendly and helpful. I ordered a Chicken Parmesan and it was delicious. Came with a soup and salad. I love places like this cause they feel authentic, like I'm in an old timey diner. Will definitely stop here again!

After watching the movie Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die, I was excited to try this breakfast diner and when I went inside the restaurant I was slowly brought back down to reality. Service: 4/5 Good server, good attention to our table but not too much Ambiance: A bit dirty/ run down looking. the orange seats have seen better days and the condiments on the table need a big refresh Food: 1/5 This is what I was most disappointed by. The coffee was super basic and pretty low quality, my meal was the sirloin and it was a weird cut of meat and also tasted a bit old. The pancakes were also incredibly basic and not good. The burnt beef end bowl was the best thing out of everything, it actually had flavor. Overall would not recommend and wouldn't come back.

Norms is always a dependable choice when you're looking for a quick, satisfying meal. This location has its own parking lot, which makes it convenient, and when I stopped by on a Sunday around noon, I was seated immediately. Since Norms is a chain diner, the menu is consistent no matter which location you visit, and that's something I appreciate. You know exactly what to expect, the portions are generous, and the food comes out quickly. It's a great option when you're hungry and don't want to wait forever for your meal. I also like the convenience of being able to pay either at the front register or directly from the kiosk at your table. It's nice to have both options. This location has a fun 1950s-style theme that gives it a classic diner feel. Overall, Norms is a solid, reliable go to when you're craving comfort food, and I personally prefer it over other chain diners.

I've been wanting to come to Norm's for years because the mid-20th-century Googie architecture is way cool to a Generation Jones type like me. I had seen it in recent films with Keke Palmer and Eddie Murphy. Built in 1957, it retains its vintage Jetsons-inspired style with its space-age signage, curved roofline, and bright orange furnishings. While waiting for our WeHo hotel to be ready, Jamie W and I strolled on La Cienega to get here. Business was percolating and I was struck how quickly our server Maricela seated us at a fairly large table. She handed us laminated menus that were an astonishing 21 pages long each. Needless to say, it took us a while to pore through all the huge and reasonably priced choices. Jamie decided on the $19.99 Country Fried Steak, a large, flattened beefsteak covered in thick country gravy accompanied by hash browns and sauteed squash and zucchini (Photo 7). It came generously with a bowl of Seafood Gumbo (Photo 10) and a Romaine Salad with ranch dressing (Photo 8). My order was the $20.99 1/2-lb New York Steak & Eggs, quite a cut of meat prepared medium-rare accompanied by hash browns and a pair of sunny-side eggs (Photo 6). Hefty as the plate was, I went for the Two Buttermilk Pancakes instead of toast (Photo 9). The truck driver portions reflected solid, rib-sticking food better than most of the competition. FOOD - 4 stars...mammoth portions, good prices, and frankly satisfying for a big breakfast appetite AMBIANCE - 4.5 stars...the Googie touches are really unique even if everything else is formica SERVICE - 5 stars...Maricela is a veteran always one step ahead of us...the payment tablet was a nice touch TOTAL - 4 stars...if you're ravenous, come here...they're open 24/7! Great service. Good yummy food. Maricela our server got the food out to us on time and it was perfect. Swing by when you want a good casual meal. When you enter go to the left. Even the host tends to push people towards the bathroom side. Why. They should stop. It feels weird.Get the side with the view of the street so you can people watch. Enjoy

Norms is a popular chain in LA, and as a local, it's almost a rite of passage to visit at least once. It's become the unofficial diner of LA. While there are closer locations, I've always wanted to experience the googie architecture here. Seeing it up close didn't disappoint; it was beautiful, especially lit up in the early morning. I came here expecting great food after all the architecture appreciation! I knew I wanted Steak and Eggs, a Norms classic. The waitress recommended the Country Fried Steak, and being a fan, I ordered it. It was very crunchy, but not quite what I expected. The patty had onions, and the gravy was good. I was disappointed the hash browns were soft and mushy, unlike the menu description of golden brown. The pancakes were solid and fluffy, just as they should be. However, the service was slow, and I wasn't checked on at all. Maybe I'm being picky, but the service was lacking. The food was okay, and I'd give it a 3, but the architecture makes it a 4-star experience. I'm not rushing back, but if I do, I'll try the steak and eggs and ask for golden brown hash browns.

Fun Fact - this location is featured in the 2026 movie "Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die" While they actually shot the inside diner scenes elsewhere, the outside scenes feature this location! It's been a while since I've been to Norms and I honestly don't know why I stayed away for so many years because it is such a classic LA diner with lots of character. I was truly shocked at just how big their menu is and the sheer variety. They honestly have a little bit of everything - breakfast (duh), steak, chicken, salmon, salads, pasta, sandwiches, and more. I came for breakfast and got the Eggs Benedict and Chocolate Chip Pancakes. It was so much food I couldn't finish it all but very tasty. I ordered the hashbrowns loaded with onions and cheese and I'd highly recommend that to get the extra flavor. Prices are good especially for this part of LA. I sat at the counter which was fun to watch the chefs work their magic and see all of the plates come out. They did take a little while to bring our food out though and I noticed plates would commonly sit ready to be delivered to tables for 10 mins+. They're really busy but could improve on getting hot food to customers tables faster. Overall still a good experience and they have a medium sized parking lot attached to the restaurant which you can park at for free.

Excellent customer service and food! Anita was great and always made sure our coffee was full. Biscuits and gravy was great too. Large servings for a good price. Maple syrup made my pancakes taste like maple donuts

Lucy was excellent! She was the kindest most attentive server who made me feel at home. The food was great and came out fast. My coffee was never empty and even took some to-go because Lucy thought it'd be best and I agreed! What a fantastic lunch. Great music too!

They have some interesting new items on the menu. AYCE Soup 'n' Salad 'n' Bread for $10. That's a good deal. I like Norms

This place is great after a night out! Have also gotten delivery a couple times. It is reasonably priced and the portions are big, everything I've tried has been good so far (except for the gravy one night tasted off). I've gotten burgers, the appetizer sampler, chilaquiles, and a couple other things. Went back after going vegan and was able to make it work. The service is usually pretty fast and friendly, they also have a guard there to kick out the drunks.

I had never heard of this place before, and I'm so glad I decided to give it a try. From the moment I walked in, I loved the atmosphere. The restaurant has a charming retro diner feel that instantly transports you to another era. It's the kind of place that feels nostalgic, welcoming, and full of character. The staff was incredibly friendly throughout my visit, and one thing that stood out to me was seeing so many regular customers. It really felt like a neighborhood staple, which is always a great sign. The food was very good, the portions were satisfying, and the prices felt fair for the quality and quantity you receive. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I'm happy to have discovered this hidden gem. I can definitely see myself coming back.

My husband has type 1 diabetes so we very rarely eat at Italian ristorantes. Chef Tara has helped us rediscover a new world of flavor without negative impacts on my husband's blood sugar and cholesterol. (Thanks for the variety of non-dairy cheeses!!) Tip for first-timers: go when you can have the brunch or the lunch menu. Then you'll have so many options that you'll have to return! Round 1 Polpettine (meatballs) are made from lentils and texture similar to the real ones; lovely marinara sauce and ground macadamia nut instead of parmesan. Complement this with the citrus notes that highlight the sauteed swiss chard with earthy Italian butter / gigante beans. Round 2 The same beans are in the Greek goddess salad: rich with tomatoes, kalamata olives, and fresh red onions. This was a visually stunning and paired well with the Sicilian almond 'tuna' melt. The tuna is by far the most imaginative. Again, Chef Tara and the back of the house nailed the texture and I loved the hints of crunchy celery. The capers injected tiny bursts of salt and tartness. The only moderation I'd consider is slightly crisping / toasting the sandwich bread -- but the tuna melt sando is great as it is. Full disclaimer - I don't own a Tesla but came here with my friend who owns a Tesla and wanted to charge and check this place out for himself. There are a good amount of Level 4 chargers both in the main lot and secondary lot. The main lot chargers are treated with two massive drive in theater movie screens which at the time, the Jetson were playing as well as Freaky Friday. The diner itself has seating on the first floor for about 30 guest with tables and bar seating while the outdoor roof deck has alot more seating around the perimeter. As far as the food my first impression was that it was pricey. For example their basic smashburger named the Tesla Giga Burger was $14. The meat was smashed and thin and it is covered in sauteed onions and sauce. It was ok and just felt that should have been a $10-$12 burger. The fries were also ok but they also offered special sauces which you had to pay for. I did add a fountain drink and the server did say they use cane sugar colas and that was pretty good. I wanted to try more entrees like their chili and cookies but again I just felt like the prices were very high and did want to take the gamble on them after having my burger. Overall cool experience visiting the Tesla Diner which provided a unique charging experience in a very Tesla centric atmosphere.

This is a long-overdue post. République has been on my must-visit list of LA dining experiences for…read morequite some time. I just never realized where it was since I don't usually make it out to Hancock Park. Then one day, while I happened to be in the area, I stumbled upon it and had one of those "Wait...this is here?!" moments. You ever have one of those places you've wanted to visit forever, only to realize it was much closer than you thought? My first visit was actually for dessert after having a less-than-memorable lunch at Mish down the street. Unfortunately, I arrived later in the day and most of the pastry case had already been wiped out, leaving only a limited selection. The staff recommended the Dulce de Leche Cremadette ($6.75), and I'm glad they did. It was perfectly flaky, buttery, and sweet, with the dulce de leche tucked inside the pastry. The caramel reminded me of the caramel coating on a caramel apple. I also picked up some brownies at the staff's recommendation, and those were fantastic -- incredibly moist, rich, and delicious. Definitely a must-get. I was a little disappointed that I missed out on the majority of the pastry selection, but I was told that the pastries are made in limited batches each day and once they sell out, that's it. So if you're coming specifically for the pastries, get here early. Earlier this summer, I made the acquaintance of an OG Yelper, Joseph A., and we've been corresponding back and forth on Yelp. I happened to know that he's a regular at République, so I asked if he'd be interested in meeting me right when they opened. I figured if anyone knew what to order, it would be him. Joseph was incredibly kind and gracious enough to treat me to breakfast. I ordered his usual breakfast recommendation: the Regular Breakfast ($24), which comes with bacon steak, fingerling potatoes, a demi baguette, French butter, jam, and an egg prepared any style. Joseph went with the soft scramble, and I followed his lead. That was definitely the move. They really know how to cook eggs here. The soft scramble was absolutely divine -- creamy, delicate, and perfectly cooked. The bacon steak was a little on the salty side, but still very good. The demi baguette was excellent, especially with the French butter and jam. Honestly, I could have eaten several pieces of that baguette with the butter and jam alone. The fingerling potatoes were nicely seasoned and quite good on their own, but a few dashes of hot sauce really took them up another notch. I'll be honest: $24 is definitely on the pricey side for what you're getting, especially when you break down the individual components. That said, when you factor in the quality of the food, the setting, and the overall experience, I can understand why people are willing to pay it. We also shared several pastries, and every single one was excellent in its own right. I'm officially hooked on the pastries here. They just don't miss. Service was pretty good during my visit. One thing worth noting is that République adds a 4% surcharge to the bill to help cover healthcare for their staff. It's certainly something to be aware of when looking at the final bill. f you're looking for a quintessential LA brunch experience to take out-of-towners to, République is a great option. Just be prepared for potentially long lines, especially on weekends. I visited on a weekday morning over the summer, so I didn't personally experience the weekend crowds. My only real wait was at the pastry counter during my first visit. I've heard you can expect people lining up before they even open at 8AM, so plan accordingly. The cult following surrounding Walter and Margarita Manzke's restaurant/café is understandable. Between the food, pastries, atmosphere, and history of the building, there's a lot to appreciate here. And speaking of history, the building itself is pretty special. The property was built in 1928 by Charlie Chaplin. It became a restaurant in 1989 when chefs Mark Peel and Nancy Silverton transformed the space to open La Brea Bakery and Campanile. After Campanile closed in 2012, the building was renovated and modified to open up the space while returning it closer to the spirit of its original construction. République opened in 2013 and has been going strong ever since. Do yourself a favor and eat at République. Come for the food and pastries, but also take some time to appreciate the ambiance and the history of this incredible LA property. And whatever you do, get here early if you want the pastries. Once they're gone, they're gone! Don't walk--run to République.

I got the Ribeye Steak & Egg Waffle, which came with a waffle, medium-rare ribeye, sunny-side-up eggs, potatoes, and onions. The steak and eggs made it super filling, and I liked having the sweet waffle alongside the savory breakfast. I also had a red sangria, which was refreshing and paired really well with everything. My girlfriend got the Oh Wow Crispy French Toast and the All American Breakfast. The French toast was definitely a standout cinnamon swirl brioche with crème brûlée, corn flakes, berries, and Nutella. It was crispy, sweet, and loaded with toppings. The All American was a solid classic breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and potatoes. We also split an order of the truffled waffle fries, and those were really good. They came out crispy, well seasoned, and topped with plenty of parmesan. Definitely worth getting for the table. Service was great as well. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and attentive, and our food and drinks came out without us feeling rushed. Our server checked in on us throughout the meal and made sure we had everything we needed. The ambiance was one of my favorite parts. It has a casual, lively brunch atmosphere with an indoor/outdoor feel, plenty of natural light, and a relaxed setup that makes it a good spot for a weekend brunch or brunch date. It felt energetic without being overly formal. Overall, we left very full and happy. The portions are generous, there's a lot of variety on the menu, and the combination of good food, drinks, service, and atmosphere made for a great brunch. Definitely somewhere we'd come back to!

I feel like the food can be a little bland at times. Truffle fires are yunmy and omelettes are good. Parking sucks but everyone knows this area has poor parking in general. The space is small so it fills up fast so make a reservation or show up early: Seating is a bit crowded so I opt to always sit outside. It's a spot I go back to when I am catching up with a friend. You can trust that the food won't be bad and the place can be a vibe for a casual dining experience.
