Food- must have: sea food Tom yum (had a 6 spicy level) which was good! pad see ew mixed- highly recommended along with the mixed pad Thai!!! Calamari and dumplings were reaaaally good and the long skinny shrimps (forgot what their called) but their menu has pictures (which is awesome) so you'll know what I'm talking about! Their famouse house rice- wow! Loved it! Different from most rice I've had from other thai places- had a minor spanish taste to i which I liked. Ice coffee is good and strong! Really impressed by this restaurant. We usually go to another local spot, but unfortunately there was a long wait. So we opted to give this spot a chance...and I'm glad we did. Very quick service with really nice staff. All 4 meals were spot on...big, flavorful, etc. We had the sticky rice and mango for dessert...and I'm still smiling while I write this review. Our family had lunch here after a long morning shopping at the Carlsbad outlets on Black Friday. We ordered from a special lunch menu which was reasonably priced. Tried Drunken Noodles with shrimp and Yellow curry with chicken along with Thai iced teas. The entrees came with soup and egg rolls. Food was great but was very spicy ( it was our fault, we ordered spice level 7) . Service was average, otherwise I would have given a better rating. read more

My husband and I were trying to decide where we should go for our anneversary dinner and I came across Ocean Thai Cuisine. Thank You so much my fellow Yelpers! This Thai Restaurant is VERY good, I lived in Thailand for 3 months a few years ago and this place brought me back! I ordered the Tom Yum soup with shrimp I ordered it medium because my hubby can't eat things that are too spicy but even this was too hot for him and he drank about 2 cokes in 10 minutes but he still loved the soup. We also ordered the Pad Thai with white meat chicken, I can't go to a Thai place without ordering this and it was perfect! Then we ordered the Yellow Curry with chicken as well and ordered it medium but it was pretty mild (my hubby was happy). The curry was served with jasmine rice so next time I will have to request the sticky rice (short grain) instead. We will definitely be back soon to order other amazing dishes and probably bring more people along so we can eat "family style" and enjoy more of what Ocean Thai Cuisine has to offer. First off, I love their food and everything. However, the lady on cashier was very very rude and she does not know how to greet people and she just was not very friendly. The moment she answered the call, she was rushing to take the order and SHE HANG UP EVEN BEFORE I WAS DONE ORDERING. And when I went to go picked up my order, she sounded angry that my card was saying chip malfunction. She was not trying to help me but instead, she was scolding me and making me feel stupid. I've actually only ordered take-out the three times I've eaten here. I love the tofu pineapple curry! They have some really good vegetarian dishes here. I was surprised, and happy that it was a quick in n out-- the way it's supposed to be (not waiting in a drive thru line for over 15 min to get in n out, even though I still do). I ordered Pad See Ewe and it so good and was a good portion. I was able to split in half and take the leftovers to work for lunch! Broccoli was on point (not tough to eat), and the chicken were cut into slices. I also got Thai Iced Tea to go, and you can't go wrong with that sweet tea. My wife and I have visited this place 4 times. The first three times the food and service was good! Not excellent, but we were pleased. Tonight our experience was quite different, and very frustrating. We ordered Tom Kah soup, which was flavorful, but not too warm. Afterwards we ordered both Pad Thai and Chicken Panang Curry. These dishes came out promptly, and while it was the correct spice level, the Pad Thai had ZERO FLAVOR. .Very little amount of peanuts and hardly any cilantro. In addition, the Curry was not what we had ordered. We were given Yellow Curry, and when we asked service what had happened, they insisted that it was Panang Curry. I asked to try a taste of their Panang Curry to compare it to what we had been given, but the server was unable to do so, stating that "everything is made to order". While that is pleasant to hear, we knew that we had been given the wrong dish and that the restaurant was not wanting to admit it. We were unable to argue our point any further, so we just ate what was given to us. The curry was thin, and was 100% not Panang. Our dinner cost $55 and was disappointing at best. read more

We are vegan and they always go above and beyond to meet our dietary needs. Nothing is labeled vegan, so make sure you communicate your needs with your server. If you love noodles, then this is your place, because they do a stellar job. We find that depending on spice preference, going down a notch may be your best option. I tried a little bit of pad thai for the first time a few days before eating here, and it was delicious! So I came here for the first time with my mom. I had pad thai, she had drunken noodles, and we both had the sampler appetizers and deserts. This place was so good! We actually came back the next day and I had drunken noodles, she had a shrimp curry special, and we both had papaya salad and coconut ice cream. I'm so glad I finally gave Thai food a chance, it's amazing. The waiter/waitress will ask you what spiciness level between 0 to 10 you want in some of the meals. I personally would recommend a 3. It's still spicy enough but it doesn't take away from the flavor. Also, this place is very clean and all their tables seat up to 4 people. I've worked near Ocean Thai for over a year and never thought to check this place out until a coworker raved about it yesterday. When I called to order for pickup, they asked me which location I wanted. I didn't know they had another location on Mission, so saying "the one in Oceanside" didn't cut it. So if they ask, it's probably best to just say "Vista Way". :) Even though the two have different phone numbers, maybe there are occasional mishaps of ordering from the wrong location? Ordering was easy from there. Chicken pad see ew, given an estimate of 10-15 minutes. It was ready for me when I came in 15 minutes after I called. I thought it was a nice touch that they lined the container with aluminum foil to keep the food hot. It was a good sized portion with big pieces of chicken and big pieces of broccoli. I would have preferred smaller pieces for the broccoli, honestly. Classic soy sauce flavor and not much sweetness. Personally, I'm accustomed to eating Vietnamese food and fish sauce every day, so I'm sure the drunken noodles would be more flavorful (definitely next on my list to try). It's a perfect Sunday dinner after a long Saturday night and there is something about Thai that hits the spot every single time. Ocean Thai has great, fast, and friendly service. They are able to make adjustments for those who suffer from gluten allergies such as myself, and are very knowledgeable in the subject, which is very rare. A lot of people are torn between this and the other Thai establishment around the corner that starts with a B and ends with a K.
