Awesome Thai place. It's five minutes from my apartment, so that's a big bonus for me. What I've ordered: 1. Panang Curry-delicious, flavorful. Everything you want in a curry. And lots of it! 2.Drunken noodles-Probably the best drunken noodles I've ever had. 3.Pineapple fried rice-Mmmm..sweet and savory and perfect 4.Pad Thai-ONLY disappointment! It tasted like ketchup...which I'm sure was used in addition to Tamarind or maybe instead of..I don't know. I know a Thai family who admitted to me that they use ketchup in their Pad Thai. Kind of gross, right? The portion sizes are perfect. I hate when places cheap out and you end up getting like ten noodles for 11 dollars. This place is different than other Thai restaurants; I feel like they have more choice, especially for people who may not be so inclined towards Thai per se, but Asian-style noodles. I love my Thai food, but I know that if I bring my mom, she'll probably find something. Environment: A little too casual, I guess. Our table was a two top in the middle of the restaurant. Pineapple yellow curry with beef. A salad came with the lunch special. Squishy mushy lettuce that seemed as if it had been washed but then not dried thoroughly and returned to the refrigerator so it could gain back some of its crispiness. The Tom Kha was ok. But normally the large Tom Kha at Thai Table in Oceanside serves four easily. This tiny serving was in an 8 or 12 Oz container. And $13. I went to Thai Table the next day and got two 16 Oz containers to go for the same price. With more mushrooms! The lunch special smelled like. Well I won't say it. I'm posting a picture of the tiny portion. I have been here eating in about four times and. This is the first time I've ordered takeout and needless to say I will never order takeout again. I thought this place was a slight step up from many of the other similar size Thai restaurants we've frequented in the area. When selecting spice levels (1-10) I felt they were spot on (we ordered dishes 4-7). Service was 5- star. They had a better range of selections as well from the other restaurants as well. After my local Thai place closed, I went searching for a new one. Ocean Thai was the overall most recommended so I gave it a shot and was happy to find my new Thai spot. While the appetizers are forgettable, the soup is not. The Hot and Sour soup is phenomenal and my girlfriend wont let me leave without ordering it. I like it at medium spiciness, but she prefers mild. For main courses, the Drunken Noodle is great, the Pahd Thai is kind of ketchupy, the yellow curry is good and everything else I saw looked appetizing as well. Prices are not bad ($9-$13) and well worth the money but as others have noted, the place is small, so refrain from bringing more than 5 people as this would be an uncomfortable number already. read more

Ocean Thai Cuisine is THE place to go to for Thai food in Oceanside. It's also one of the few places around the area to get Asian food, but it doesn't change the fact that it makes really tasty stuff. Food: The food is as good as it gets. The drunken noodles are so tasty: spicy with perfectly textured noodles. Spring rolls are fresh and crunchy; the peanut sauce is creamy, sweet, and savory- soo good. I seem to get the curry: the yellow coconut curry is yummy. Never disappoints. Atmosphere: The business is located in an older building complex and can be easily unseen in a place with more mainstream businesses. However, inside is very clean and pretty well-decorated. Usually I would only judge a Thai restaurant based on it's Pad Thai, but I've tried a few dishes here and here's what I think. ITS THE BESTT IVE HAD. I've gone to maybe ten thai places in LA county out of convenience so it wasn't like five star places or anything. I usually find that having Ocean Thai from the one of Mission Ave is better than the one on Vista Way, but recently its the other way... point is, there is a slight difference between the two. I must say it's the most pricey Thai place I've been to, but I still keep coming back. I have tried the Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Spicy Fried Rice, and others but those are the ones we always order cause it's so good. I tried the Chow Mein and it wasn't that great, but it was still a good mix of flavor. But whenever I crave Pad Thai in LA, I go to a new place and try to find the next Ocean Thai... The food and service was consistent on both occasions. This place was pretty busy on a Friday night, and I'm not surprised because it's so good! Authentic Thai at reasonable prices. Friendly staff and clean. The kids will really enjoy the very large aquarium. Location, unfortunately is in a legacy mall that has lost most of it's major anchor stores. The revitalization of this area has continued and some of the long standing businesses continue. I have been to this place before but I didn't remember my plate nor my experiences too well. So I decided to give it another chance and see what was good. I came in with my gf and I have to say that their customer service is excellent. We were greeted nicely and we received a table quickly. All was well, the staff was helpful, friendly and happy looking. That is a plus in my book because I hate having rude customer service while I'm dining. Our food came out quickly. The quality of the food was great and it came out fresh out of the kitchen. The taste was memorable this time but it was not the greatest Thai that I've had so far. What I found the most interesting was how they served their thai (chai) tea. The tea was on the bottom and the milky stuff was on top. It was cool to mix it together. It also had a unique flavor that made it stand out of the other thai tea's that I have tasted. I did not give this place 5 stars because I felt that they could work a little bit more on their vibe and atmosphere. Best meal I've had in a long time! I came with my family, including two toddlers who really enjoyed our table by the beautiful aquarium. I loved the spring rolls and my Tom Kha soup. The food was good. I had larb and the flavor was nice. I am used to it being served with a cabbage wedge to kind of assist in eating, which this does not come with. I was happy with the overall flavor combination.
