Stopped in today after reading several reviews and let me tell you this place didn't disappoint! I had the lunch special which includes an appetizer, salad, and your choice of entree. I had Fresh Rolls, salad, and a curry noodle soup as well as two drinks. Everything from food, to drinks, to atmosphere was something I'll definitely be coming back for! My bartender/server, Boat, was incredible as well. I will most definitely be back to work my way through the menu....and that says a lot since I traveled from the San Diego to try this spot out today! Glad I made the right choice! read more

The establishment was very clean. Staff is friendky and helpful. I requested a half order of an appetizer and they accommodated me. It was no problen at all. The fresh rolls were fresh and delicious! This place is AMAZING! Great tasting food at reasonable prices. The outside may look like a strip mall restaraunt, but as soon as you walk in you are taken to a beautiful place. The decor is very nice and it always smells so good in there. If you can, get a seat by the huge salt-water aquarium. It's beautiful. The service is always very friendly and fast. The hot and sour soup and fresh spring rolls are a great way to start out a lunch or dinner. I've tried about half of the items on the menue and have never been disapointed. My fav is the basil and garlic stir-fry. Their lunch prices are surprisingly low. Two people can eat there for under $20. Including drinks and appetizers. You know it's a good thai place when people who are actually from Thailand eat there! My spouse and I have met some great Thai customers there who think the food is just as great as we do. I've been frequently eating at this place for years. And I must say, the food quality is excellent! The atmosphere is relaxing most of the time. It can get busy on occassions. For weekend dinner, making a reservation would be smart! Sit next to the salt water fish tank if you are lucky to find it unoccupped (especially if you are with some special). This restaurant is so good! Their lunch specials are very reasonable. They come with a dish, soup or salad and a vegetable roll. If they have the coconut soup then I highly recommend getting the soup with your meal, it's so good. I have tried many different items on the menu and not one has disappointed. I also love the fresh rolls with peanut sauce. The service is quick during the lunch hour, even when they are busy. The place is clean, the people who work there are nice, the prices are reasonable. Ocean Thai Cuisine is a great choice for an evening out or maybe an evening in with takeout and Netflix. They offer all the classics like Pad Thai and Drunkin Noodles. I would recommend this location for a second date or later since there is no view and it is part of a strip mall and shares a parking lot with non food establishments. The staff is friendly and the restaurant was busy on a Friday night. Takeout will need about 20 minutes to receive from the time of ordering. read more

Came here for dinner one night just to get out of the house and try something new, and was not disappointed. This place is awesome! The staff is great and friendly and the atmosphere is very comfortable. The food was delicious and came as a huge serving. The pad Thai was a little peanut butter creamy for my taste so I had to add some spice to it (I like for there to be a little kick) overall the lack of spice was not a deal breaker it still tasted amazing! The spicy drunken noodles were delicious too. Huge portions and large cuts for beef. Overall we were extremely pleased and would absolutely go back! It seemed like a lot of people were getting take out but I would just eat there and take home your leftovers because the eat in portions are huge! read more

I hoped that I would like this place a lot more. The ambiance is really nice, I loved the beautiful fish tank and so did my daughter. I noticed that there was a lunch special even through the weekend so I decided to go with that. I was really bummed that they didn't offer pad see ew on the lunch menu since that's my favorite dish. I opted for the yellow curry and soup. Most places I've been to offer soup & salad but here you have to pick one or the other. I really was hoping I would get to try the tom kah with my food but instead the soup they gave us was the hot and sour which I wasn't really a fan of....My curry was on the watery side and had a strong fishy taste, (I ordered it vegetarian with tofu) I really didn't enjoy it. The thai tea was really good and a really fair size, that was the best part of my meal. Also it's on the pricier side especially considering the portion size. I ended up paying about $30 for two lunch entrees and two thai teas...My fiancé enjoyed his pad thai so that was good. I probably won't be back but I'm glad I tried it.. read more

Yesterday, I ate lunch at this restaurant...been here a few times before. I ordered the Pineapple Curry with Vegetables...no meat or seafood. All night, I had MASSIVE FOOD POISONING!!!!! I haven't been that sick in 20 years, and I never get sick, ever! I was up all night throwing up and every possible way my body could release the toxic food, so I'm not too graphic. Since that was the only thing I ate yesterday, there is no doubt what it was. My mind is blown that the cooks served me food that was so obviously bad....they must have known when they were preparing it that it was not fresh produce. Still sick this morning....HORRIBLE!!!!! Indulged here on Valentine's Day. The mark of a good restaurant is putting out consistently yummy food on such a busy evening. What also impressed me was the service. The place was busy. A drink was forgotten, an additional napkin slightly behind, all brought promptly with one mention, with a smile, and is there anything else I could do for you. Ocean Thai was pretty much just..... "eh"... Was happy to have had an Entertainment Book coupon. The pad thai noodles with chicken were okay, but nothing out of the ordinary. We also had some chicken mini rolls that tasted just like lumpia. Sweet and sour sauce was a bit on the runny side. Peanut sauce was thick and delicious. The basil chicken stir fry had an odd fishy flavor. It was too bright in the dining room for my tastes. Service was okay. I am surprised that this place has an overall rating of 4. Ocean Thai is dank. Bottom line. I've been to pretty much every Thai place in the North County area and the only one that can hold a candle to Ocean Thai is Happy Chang's. Their tofu is the best quality of any place I've been in and outside of San Diego. The one thing that Happy Chang's has over them is they can go way spicier. this place has above average tasting Thai food for the area Perhaps there are better tasting places in New York City but I'm not comparing to those. We had: - Thai beer with an ice cold chilled glass (nice touch) - pineapple fried rice with chicken: this dish is sometimes not so good at other restaurants but this is one of the better ones that I've had; they put in raisins and cashew nuts, don't skimp on the fresh pineapple and don't use a powdered curry flavor like some places do - Pad Thai with shrimp: this also was a cut above the other Thai restaurants; the noodles were firm and not overcooked, the taste was sweet like tamarind sauce (yum) and not too oily or salty; I thought that the shrimp tasted great but my wife thought that the shrimp could've been fresher (or perhaps it was just a little overcooked) - pineapple curry with pork, medium spice: this was great and it came with rice and when we asked for a bit more they didn't charge; the spice level was perfect for us but a little bit too hot for the kids; unless you love spicy food though I wouldn't recommend going hotter than medium (unless you're just a massochist); even at medium spicy you could taste all the flavors of the vegetables and meat etc.; it went great with the beer and white rice By the way, I read all the bad reviews before coming here. I really like this place, I do agree with the spiciness, medium is like mild. I'm a fan of their drunken noodle and pad see ew. If you must get dessert be sure to get their sticky rice with mango. I prefer this restaurant than the Lotus Thai, due to the fact that this place has more flavor. read more

Its good for the area thats for sure. The thai tea is really big, maybe 2500 calories big?? :) its ok I'll drink it. The panang curry is average, 3 stars. Only giving it 4 stars because of the area, I mean this area is hard to find anything decent. For top shelf thai I recommend thai town in OC but of course thats not where we are down here is it??? Looked up yelp while visiting Carlsbad with the family. -We were not disappointed. -Great service - 5 stars -They have these homemade brews that we tried: the spicy ginger lemongrass tea. It was wonderful. If they marketed these beverages in SF - it would do really well. The tea was refreshing, mildly sweet, and a bit spicy -just an amazing brew - very much like ginger beer, but less zingy due to the lemongrass. -Appetizer for 2: fantastic -especially the shrimp and pork egg rolls -Fried rice - very authentic - reminded me of my years in Thailand. -But what really tipped it for me: White meat, non-stinky chicken in their entrees. For a picky meat eater like me, this was such a refreshing change. Loved the eggplant chicken - just like Thailand - not overly soft and not undercooked - just right. -Hubby loved his chicken with basil. -Our meals included rice. -Prices were very reasonable. -Kids combos were a great deal and perfect for our son. read more
