the hair cut was fine, the prices are no longer the best and going up to match the other stylist shops. guessing that rent is higher since the move, but they're in an area of more foot traffic. the value is no longer what it was before they moved out right after they moved to this location. a $16 haircut when i thought it was 12. yeah, not the same value as it used to be. Unfortunately I have to give this one star I've had my haircut here multiple times. I also went right before Covid-19 happened, and I don't think I was that satisfied then. So I walked in with my mask on, with 2 barbers a male and female cutting hair with masks on, with hardly any wait time. I was next and it looked like I was going to get the female barber. with positive thoughts I went and sat down in the chair. Butchered!!! It doesn't feel good to say that but it was the only word to describe the haircut. I had her last time, and today I was hoping her skills have improved. Sadly her skills haven't. I told her exactly what I wanted and she proceeded to cut my hair. I noticed her technique was slightly odd, only because I got my hair cut 3 weeks prior to this one from a slightly out of my budget Barbershop. I was hopping she would just follow what the person before her did and amazingly she just cut my sides before I could even tell her. Then she parted my hair down the middle and started cutting my hair like I had a bowl on top of my head. I was thinking at this time "she knows what she is doing, so I shouldn't say anything.' Next thing I know she is taking my apron off and saying i was done. I was a bit shocked about the results of the haircut. I had to tell her to cut the area under my mask straps. I just accepted that my hair was ruined. I probably won't be coming here again because now I have to wait another 3 months until I get my hair back to how I wanted to originally have it. Just in time for the Fall I guess. I guess it's hats for me this summer. The Male Barber might be good, but I forget if he is good. I just want to warn people that might care about how the hair turns out not to go to this barber shop. They really don't have the skills to cut hair how you want it. Asian owner gave me a cut and he used the mirror to show me the back of my head. I asked if he could trim some more off the top because it was still a little long. He was plowing passive aggressive and ended up chopping off a good amount of my hair. Basically buzzed it. Avoid this place. Their customer service is below average and their hair cuts are also inferior to most places. read more

The most important review of this place, so read it because I think I know where a majority of the bad reviews are coming from. First off, been coming here since they were at their old location. Mega affordable and walk ins welcomed. Secondly and most importantly, this is a mom and pop shop. So there are only the 2 barbers (husband and wife). Everybody always seems to wait for the husband, but I feel like the wife cuts my hair just as good, if not better. Now, on some busier occasions, there is a 3rd lady. I don't know if she's a sister or relative or something. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS. If it's your turn and she waves you over, tell her your waiting for any of the other 2. She's given me the worst 3 cuts of life, and I keep it pretty simple, nothing fancy or "new." From the 2nd time she cut my hair to the last time, about 1.5 years had passed, so I thought for sure she had improved. Nope. Fool me 3 times shame on me. read more

I've been going to this barber for the past four years, from when they were located at Edinger/Newland and following them to their new location. I have a relatively easy head of hair and by now he can probably cut it with his eyes closed (not recommended though!). Including goatee and eyebrow trim, I'm in and out (depending on wait time) in less than 20 minutes. Costs around $8-$10, I always flip him a $20. Can't beat that! It would take a lot to get me to go somewhere else. If you're looking for salon treatment or some custom cut, maybe you should consider you get what you pay for...but for my needs, this place is perfect. read more

Rushed home from the office yesterday to try and get a hair cut, only to find out that my regular barber closed 15 minutes before I got there. Dagnabbit! I remembered seeing CMK open up while cruising the hood the other day so I decided to give it a whirl. They've been open only for a month now so they're pretty brand spankin' new. Pale yellow walls, lots of open floor space (perhaps too much open floor space), and 4 chairs sitting on one side of the room. You could probably fit 12 chairs in that room easy. Sat down with Barber Ben, and he hooked up a clean fade. He took his time and made sure there weren't any straggler hairs left behind. Nice! Pricing is also lean and mean. $6 for a men's haircut, $7 for anything involving a fade, and $8 for anything involving a mohawk. I thought about the mohawk option, but figured work wouldn't appreciate it much. =P read more

Be careful at this place I asked for a trim told the woman there I would like the top cut to 1 inch and the sides at 1/2 inch she repeated what I had asked for the she began to cut my hair. Not only did I confirm my request but showed her with my hands the length I would like. First pass I had a reverse Mohawk she didn't trim it to 1 inch instead she shaved it off. After I asked her what she is doing the gentleman in the shop simply said there was a misunderstanding and there would be no charge for the cut. I had no intention to pay anything at this time still now I am bald and have no hair. What good is it say there is no charge after she shaved it off. If you like your hair and want to keep some. Might want to think twice before stopping here. Run far far far away. Why won't yelp allow me to give this place a zero star they deserve it. read more

This barber shop rules. First of all, it's cheap. $7 for a man's haircut. It's even cheaper if you're some really old dude. Secondly, the man and lady who own this place do a great job. You know how they offer you the mirror to check their work? Forget it - you don't need that here. These people are professionals. Just stand up, pay, and walk out looking like a million bucks. Third, they don't talk too much. Everywhere else, the barbers pretend they give a crap about your life, your job, and your kids. They don't. So you're stuck in an insincere conversation babbling about your kids soccer skills to some dude who couldn't care less. Not here, baby! These people do their jobs, they do them well, and they don't blow smoke up your ass by droning on about the minutiae of your life. I've been coming here for years, and I've tried the other barbers in the area. Those other barber shops are overpriced and annoying. This place is awesome. Just remember, they're closed on Mondays. If you come on a Monday you will not get a haircut here. Then you'll end up going to another shop, talking about your stupid kids, the weather, and your job...and you'll walk out $12 poorer looking like you got attacked by a weed whacker. Let me set the scene - I live about 25 miles from my office and my regular barbershop is only open till 5pm m-f and weekends I am usually on the go and it is hard for me to stop by so I go about a month before I can't handle my hair anymore. I was looking for a barber shop near my office in Huntington Beach and to my amaze, there was one with in a mile of my office. I read all of the reviews as I usually try to do and thought I would give it a try. First impression of the barber shop was it was clean and there was little to no wait, but then again it was Friday at 1pm so I timed it right. I meet CHRISTINE and she was very energetic and also welcoming, I immediately sat down and she had asked me how I would like to have my hair cut, and I explained it to a "T" and she dialed me in to the EXACT way that I like my hair cut and even when she was done, she looked at me again and saw something that she wanted to clean up, and I was truly grateful. She DIALED in my hair just the way I liked it and offered to put Gel in my hair and it looked great. For a $7.00 hair cut, I thought to myself - oh well it would grow back if I didn't like it, but I was TRULY HAPPY with my hair and I was in and out of there in 15-20 minutes flat and I even had enough time to grab something to eat before going back to my office. If I can help just one person with this review, I would be greatly happy for spreading the word that CMK Barber Shop is the BEST in TOWN!!! Hands down!! I've never actually gotten a haircut here before, but I have accompanied the boyfriend to get his haircut. We called on a Saturday morning to try to make an appointment for later in the day but the guy said that they do not make appointments. The boyfriend and I decided to just head over after lunch and hopefully the wait wouldn't be too long since the man had told us they were busy on Saturdays. When we went, I was surprised because the barber shop was actually very roomy and spacious but they only had two people working. The two barbers were busy working on other people. There was a line and four other people were waiting for their haircuts before my boyfriend. A few more people came in while we were waiting. However, I was pretty impressed at the speed the two barbers worked at. They were finished with each customer in about 10-20 minutes depending on the person's hair. The barbers didn't talk too much to anyone but they're busy cutting everyone's hair quickly. The line of people moved by very fast. Then it was the boyfriend's turn and his haircut was finished in like fifteen minutes. It was fast and precise and looked good! I definitely recommend this for guys to get their haircut, it's super affordable for only $7! Heyyyy when the boyfriend saves money, it means he has more to spend on his girlfriend!!! :D read more

Been recently coming here to get haircuts and all of the reviews below are accurate. The price is cheap and the job is pretty good. The one issue is that the communication isn't that great. I've been going to the lady and she doesn't speak the best English. That being said, she is still a decent barber and definitely worth a try, especially at $7. My poor dad had a terrible experience here, so here I am to avenge him. We live right by this shop and he decided to try it out after seeing great Yelp reviews and a diverse group of customers. He tipped but he didn't realize how bad it was until he was driving home and felt his hair. When he came home, he took a closer look and I've never seen him so mad about a haircut, and he said it was the worst he's ever had. The sides were not blended well, and the top of his head was uneven. He says that she also didn't seem to know how to hold the clippers because she kept hitting his head as she cut. Also, the front line was not straight. I wish I had thought to take a photo but he had gone straight to his original barber not long after showing me his cut because it was so bad that he couldn't wait another day. Do not come to this place. Worst haircut I've ever received. I showed the barber what I wanted with my haircut. Showed the barber a picture of what i wanted. All she focused on were the sides and now I have a very lopsided cut. One side is shaved all the way to the top, the other side is patchy and wavy. They always do a great job, listen to requests, and they have the hairstyle charts on the walls so you can just point and say "like that" if you want. Their shop is always clean and it's huge! I hope they get more stylists and business in there so they are very successful. Apparently they do ladies haircuts too, but I've never seen a woman in there so I can't speak on that. Came in here for the first time a few months ago because I was in the area and was in a hurry and to be honest I was kind of skeptical about this place. No reason other than the fact that it's hard to trust someone or some place new. I took a chance with this place and I haven't looked back since! The people here really know how to cut hair. I usually only ask for a simple cut: a 1.5 on the sides and a short trim on the top. Not that hard right? You'd be surprised at how many people I've gone to that have messed that up. They get it here just right. And this is the reason why I keep coming back. Someone messed up my brother's cut though. He had a buzz cut with a line up. It was kind of crooked when they did it. The owner/barber is very rude and bad tempered. I was shooting my bf ONLY, being careful not to include the barber into the photo, the owner/barber who was cutting another guy's hair told me not to because he didn't like the fact that some people took photo and uploaded to social media. We have two boys ages 2 and 5. This place was able to the handle the two wiggle worms with ease. Their cuts came out great, the kids were happy and so were our pocketbooks. Usually we spend over $40 for both of their cuts, we were out of CMK Barber for half the price. If your looking for a clean simple cut this is the place to go. read more

I've been coming here for three years. I always get my hair cut by the husband. I've never had my hair cut by the wife or the other guy, so I don't know if they're good or bad. My haircut looks fine. I've never really like the way my hair looks after a haircut (here or elsewhere) so to me, it's all the same. But what I love about this place is: 1. awesome price ($10 for women) 2. they remember me and know exactly how I want my haircut without being reminded 3. clean and sanitary 4. wait time isn't too bad 5. they don't sound annoyed when you tell them to fix something (i.e. shorter) 6. they always check with you and show you VISUALLY how short you want your hair cut 7. they're not chatty. (I hate chatty bs at regular salons) I also leave a big tip because I want them to stay in business. Plus, I love supporting mom and pop shops. I have been coming here every two months since I've moved to the area. The family is very nice. Even though throughout the whole cut they don't make conversation and you only hear the television, which is kind of weird for me, but peaceful. I usually go around 4 and the line was about a 30 min wait because the mother usually picks up the kids around that time. The price for a clean fade is amazing in my opinion. read more
