Food was terrible. Not just mine, but all 12 people at our table had horrible food. The crab cakes had much more filler than when we ate there a few years ago. It was more like a crispy crab biscuit and it was paired with plain white rice. The hush puppies looked like a pile of crumbs. Sadly, this place just isn't good anymore. First time in Wrightsville Beach and Oceanic came highly recommended. I gave it a 3 for the view and our server, everything else was a 1. First was the issue with the flies, they were everywhere!! At the bar when you come in and all over the table. We swatted at them the entire meal. The food was mediocre at best, especially for the prices the chargeMy son had shrimp scampi and it was the best dish of the 5 at our table. Won't be back and can't recommend. ***UPDATE*** A few hours after posting my review, oceanic commented on my review and asked me to contact them via email. I immediately emailed them with my phone number but so far....haven't heard from them. I'm beginning to feel that was an attempt, by them, to make me, and everyone else that read it, feel better. Excellent food and great scenery! My first time eating here as I was visiting from out of the city. Whenever I happen to be back in this area I will definitely be returning here! We visited Wrightsville Beach for the weekend and had dinner at Oceanic. One of the men behind the bar was making drinks with his mask on his chin (not covering nose or mouth). I ate most of my salad only to find a hair at the bottom (see pic). The waitress was sweet and apologetic and they took my salad off the bill. I understand things like this happen but it's just unsettling, especially right now. I really liked their outside seating set up so I gave it 2 stars! read more

Great views and mediocre parking . Our server was a little scattered. Had trouble using hand held order device. Started with two of the drinks from the cocktail menu the margarita and the surfer spritz - so good! Had the lobster and shrimp sliders and the Carolina crab dip both really good! We visited on 5/23. Saturday arrived around 4 pm. The food was excellent. We had to sit the bar. Which was fine. Let me say the black drum and green beans were cooked to perfection. My wife had the seafood basket which was also very good.. now the bad..it was extremely hot, the ac didn't work very well, or they kept opening the doors so much all the cool air escaped. This could have been solved with a few mini splits. . Now the really bad. It was a total fly fest in there. We swatted flies with one hand and ate with the other. They were all over the inside glass, no one apologized, offered a discount, return voucher, someone could have been swatting them and at least minimized the problem. We chose here for the view and, well, at least it had that. It had ample ocean front seating. However, we wouldn't go back. We chose there because my one daughter who is 15 doesn't eat seafood. Online the kids menu lists no age. Once we arrived they refused to let her order the grilled cheese. Next the red sangria was awful. The table next to us successfully returned theirs. Our server was unphased that it was undrinkable. We waited about an hour for our food, which was average at best. The crab dip was good. We waited an addl 30 mins for our check. By then we had to hunt down our waitress to pay before our $15.50 3 hour parking cost expired (The restaurant lot is fairly limited in space). We had wanted dessert but knew it would take an hour so we went and found ice cream. In all, I'd find another seafood place that has more servers and more willingness to work with a picky eater. read more

We started out at the bar while we waited for our table. I ordered a glass of wine. It was served to me in a dirty glass--actual food stuck on the glass. I asked the bartender for a different glass. He pored another one, but rejected it before he served it to me because it was also dirty. Then he pored me another one in another dirty glass. At that point, I scraped it with my fingernail and wiped it with a tissue. My husband ordered a martini specifying that he wanted vermouth in it. He watched the bartender make it, and the bartender did not add the vermouth. When it was served, my husband asked if the vermouth was added. The bartender said, "Yes." After my husband told him that he had seen that it wasn't added, he added it--this cost $16. The food was mediocre. I ordered shrimp and grits. The grits were lumpy and gooey. My husband ordered the catch of the day. He asked for it pan fried, and it was grilled because it had grill marks on it. The rice had hard chunks in it. The vegetables were good, but they needed some butter. Low quality, high prices, and dirty glassware characterize this place. read more

Sunday Brunch-where do I begin? No hot tea because that's so hard to make, no scrambled eggs to order only the premaid chorizo/egg slop placed into soggy tacos. Couldn't ask for the eggs without the chorizo as I suspect either powdered eggs or all premixed. So very poor breakfast menu and flexibility. We have been going to Oceanic for years now and this past week was definitely our last time! Nothing to do with the food, the food has never been that great! We enjoyed the service and back when the management was different, I believe it was Owen who was the General Manager. We also got to know Amanda, who was always running around helping her staff. I think that the way the current General Manager treats his staff is really hard to watch! One night we were there for dinner and witnessed the GM rudely scold our server right in front of the table next to us! From our experience, the restaurants that are truly successful are the ones where the managers do not think they are too good to pick up the slack for the staff. What we have seen on our last few times there has certainly not been the case. Some of the servers that we always request have been there long before the current management. They seem so unhappy there now and it really is too bad. What used to be one of our favorite local restaurants now seems to be a very toxic workplace! So sad! I do hope that some of our favorite servers go elsewhere, where they will be treated right. We will certainly follow them wherever they go! They are the ones that made Oceanic one of our favorite spots for the past several years! On a final note, who is KJ? Is he really a manager? From the way we've seen him interact with the staff, he certainly does NOT seem like management material at all. Very unprofessional! read more

I took my family to eat tonight my grandfather whom has cancer really wanted some fried seafood. We get there service was great i had stuffed salmon which was great but my grandfather's my husbands and my daughters food was the worse I have ever seen the fried flounder and oysters where raw. I work in the restraunt industry myself and know very well how things should be cooked! My 5 year old wanted a hamburger with just ketchup it came out with cheese but looked really good but had to send it back because she would not eat it so we asked for it to be fixed they come back with a patty that looked like a white castle hamburger patty. Jacquelyn was THE BEST SERVER EVER!!! The food was amazing, service was perfect! We walked in with a party of 8 and were seated within 10 minutes! The manager even came to check on us after the food was delivered. This was a family dinner with all of us together (which doesn't happen too often), and it was the perfect meal and beautiful memories. Love coming here! There is nothing better than having a glass of Pinot Grigio that is on tap while watching the ocean. Great location and food. My family have been coming down to Wrightsville Beach for years and the Oceanic is a favorite place to go, especially walking out on Crystal Pier at sunset. We had great food and customer service was excellent. Even though they just reopened two weeks ago from Hurricane Florence and only the downstairs was opened.
